"Insufficient Storage" error when installing apps - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all, I've recently installed This ROM by michaelm_007, but every time I try to install or update apps I get an "Insufficient Storage Available" error even though I have 167MB of free internal space and lots of SD card partition space available.
I Have CM7r2 HBOOT so I suspect it has something to do with the cache size, but I tried both of the fixes on this page but the first one errored out and the second one did nothing.
Can anyone offer any assistance?

[Q] Yet another market "download failed" thread... (HTC Evo)

So I'm not the most amateur guy our there with rooting, and I've flashed roms countless amounts of times, but I'm now getting the "Download failed" error whenever trying to download from the market.
I've had the issue before and wiping cache from the market app, google Talk, browser and the phone cache solved the problem in the past. This newest rom I have (B.O.S. Kingdom Port RC3 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1088908) is not responding when I try these things. I haven't been able to find a solution when searching through the threads on here... Any suggestions to things I might try?
As you can imagine, I'm extremely frustrated with my phone at this point

Check to see how much internal and sd card space you have left. I believe that ROM is too big for all of it to fit on the system partition so some of it gets put where your apps normally are. You may need to add an ext partition to your sd card to free up some space.

I can tell you right off the bat you hit that right on the nose. This rom is HUGE.
After checking, there are 101MB on the internal memory and 5.87/16 gigs on my SD card. I've noticed some people create tis partition. I know it wipes the card when it is performed. Can you direct me to detailed instructions on performing the partition? I don't mind wiping the phone out. (I do it frequently)
And Thank you very much for the help!

App Installation Problems

I'm currently having two problems installing apps on my phone:
1) When I try to install Go SMS, I get "package file is invalid".
2) When I try to install Facebook Messenger, I get "Insufficient Storage Available".
I feel like both of these are related. I am currently running Synergy RLS1 (no God-mode) w/ a2sd. According to Titanium Backup, I have the following amounts of space available:
System ROM: 367MB (15.1MB free)
Internal: 448MG (312MB free)
SD Card: 7.17GB (3.93GB free)
SD Card (a2sd): 719MB (495 free)
Plenty of other apps of various sizes install and uninstall without incidence, but for some reason, I can't get these two apps to install.
I tried to first wipe cache and dalvik-cache, and I've tried a full wipe and reinstall and I'm still having the same issue.
Any ideas?
FYI. I resolved this issue by reformatting my SD Card.
For some reason, there was a bad .apk stuck in /system/sd/app that when I tried to remove via adb shell, gave me some kind of input/output error.
Reformatting and repartitioning my SD Card finally resolved the issue.

[Q] Unable to install more apps with space available

Hey, I'm a noob running the kingdom shooter sense 3.0 rom on my evo. When I try to install more apps i get a message saying that the internal memory is full. I only have about 70 apps which take up 197.9 mb after some have been moved to the sd card. With system data taking up 237 MB, that leaves 251 MB of "free space." And yet I get the internal memory full message. I did a little research and found that my problem might be that I'm running out of cache space for new apps. But clearing caches with cachemate doesn't seem to help. Does anyone know what I can do? Sorry if this has been addressed in another thread, I couldn't find anything that helped.

[Q] Market Downloading Issue

I have my SD card partitioned for dta2sd and have successfully been running it that way for quite some time now. Mind you that I flash ROMs on a regular basis. But recently after trying the Meko OS (I forgot the name) and then flashing back to a MIUI 2.3 build, I can't download anything from the market. It keeps giving me an "insufficient space" error. The odd thing is I usually have about 250mb+ system memory available and about 60mb+ sdext memory. I've flashed a few ROMs that I usually use as dailies and its giving me the same error when downloading from market. Also I can't restore any apps that aren't on my sdext currently nor install an app off of my SD.
I've tried: fixing permissions, reinstalling the apps to SD via terminal emulator, and flashing DTa2sd again.
also i'm using an ext3
Thanks in advanced
It's complaining about not enough space on your data partition.
Try moving Dalvik-cache to your sdcard.

External SD for Apps/Cache/etc

Hi,
I am getting the annoying "Insufficient Space" errors whenever I install some things from app market. One thing can be 1mb and not work while others that are bigger will randomly work! It's just random .. but also seems to be a trend of apps i installed in the past, or ones that i have already that are trying to update. YES it tried wiping cache/dalvik cache, so no tips on factory reset/cache etc ty
There are many OUTDATED/broken tutorials for making an external partition for app data and such, and I am having trouble finding a good guide on how to do this.
Can anyone show me a good guide/video that is recent, using TWRP, that can show me how to accomplish this?
Other info:
* I do NOT use cyanogenmod (some of the App2SD apps are only for CM9/10)
* TWRP 2.6.0.0 is missing the SD card partition button! So I flashed CWM and made a 4gb partition in my extSD card. Now what?
Thanks mates

Related (had a new thread for this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2359039 - I can't find the 'partition SD card' under advanced settings .. it's just not there! I think my version is too new; perhaps they moved it but i can't find it).

Ok, so I have my external SD card partitioned. In regards to my related post, it was a bug so CWM was able to partition.
Now i have this 4gb partitioned space with 0 swap space as instructed. Now I want to make it so that apps install there instead of the emulated SDcard and also have the dalvik cache/cache there as well or whatever the heck it is that takes away the "INSUFFICIENT SPACE" bug when I 100% have space....
