Hi all
Sorry if this has already been covered... I searched for quite a bit and couldn't find any solutions to my problems.
Problem #1: When my laptop is connected to my phone hotspot, sometimes it drops the connection and reports as "no internet connection". If I turn the hotspot off and back on again, it reconnects just fine. This happens randomly and started a couple of weeks ago.
Problem #2: Sometimes when I turn my hotspot on, I get the "verifying account" message and the spinning icon, but the hotspot never turns on. I have to reboot the phone to get it to function.
My phone is completely stock, not rooted, and has the stock ROM. These problems both developed recently... I've been using the same setup problem free for 10 months.
Any ideas?
Root. Run a custom rom. Problem solved

Yeah if you can't fix it with a simple reset, root and run custom rom.

I use my DHD for a lot of internet surfing. Usually i do it over mobile nework and it works fine. Sometimes though, i use WiFi for faster access.
After using WiFi for some time, if i again try to connect through the mobile network, it does not connect.
If i go into settings and turn on mobile network, it says turning on, and stays like that forever. If i press back and then come back into the network settings, the mobile network option shows as checked, but the status displays as "Connect to the internet". No icon is displayed in the notification bar, and i am not able to browse the net.
I have tried everything, switching to Airplane mode and back, turning WiFi on and off again, but nothing works. The only solution to this problem i'v found is to restart my phone. Once i restart, everything is back to normal (that is till i use WiFi again).
Has anyone else faced similar issues? Any suggestions for a possible solution?
PS: I am using unbranded, unrooted DHD with stock ROM (1.84.720.3)
I've noticed the issue a few times myself.
There seems to be no better solution other than to reset the phone.
I've only got it a couple of times and it doesn't seem frequent and so I don't really mind.
Similary I noticed that randomly the search networks feature freezes and after a few minutes reports that no networks were found, luckly, no reset is needed, only going back a couple of times and searching again
Hope someone else already found a solution to this and can post it!

I was facing this problem only once in a while, and didn't mind much. But lately, i'v been facing this problem everytime i use WiFi, and it's really bugging me now.
I really hope someone has a solution for this.
The same thing is happening to me on my htc MT3G slide (not using wifi) after I flashed a ROM and updated the radio to the most recent one. Dunno why this is happening :/ It's the same rom (rooted version) and I updated to the same radio I had before. Restarting doesn't help either
I have got the same problem sometimes. And the easiest sollution is to turn to airplane mode and leave for few seconds. After that turn it off enter pin and everything back to normal. It have always worked for me.

Ever since upgrading to the rooted, stock OTA ROM, my wifi has basically been unable to connect. I got it to connect a couple of times, but only for a very short while (possibly until I turned the phone off). Prior to this rom, it would automatically connect within a minute of arriving at one of the sites where I had wifi configured. All of the networks are properly configured--it just won't stay connected. It starts to, and then goes back to disconnected.
I have never had any problems with the wifi on this phone, with any ROM.
Is there a trick to getting it back up and running again? Is there a different kernel fo rthe new OTA that will fix it? I've searched and found others with the same problem, but haven't found a solution.
Thanks,
Dave
To start off, this happened maybe a month ago. I was on my phone just listening to pandora and for some reason the WiFi shut off. I tried going turning it back on but it got stuck on "Turning Wifi On". I was on EliteMod ICS. I thought maybe it was just an app or something, so I superwiped my phone to start all over again and flashed a new rom. For some reason when I went to this new rom "CM10 Flinny" I honestly did all I could. I have tried every rom. I even took off root and s-off and started from a "New out of the box" state. And it still won't work. Could it be an error within the phone? Or does it have to deal with hardware? I don't if this helps but when i check out a logcat of the phone, it says like wpa_supplicant not found and the javastate or w.e it is can not be started. I never play with the wifi too, barely use it and it just happened out of nowhere which is leaving me confused.
And also if it does have to be with hardware. Can anyone tell me where to get the tools to open up the phone? And the certain items I need to get it working again. I'm already ordering another part since my phone's home keys don't work either. Weird that many problems came up all at once.
Similar problem here except my WiFi stopped working on mimcry 1.5 I also get the WiFi error cannot connect to suplicant

Hey all. I need some advice. This morning my G3 (D850) dropped WiFi connection for no reason. It says the signal is good but the network info says saved, secured. It will attempt to connect over and over again and if it does connect the signal is weak as can be and it drops the connection within 2 seconds. My coworker has a G3 also and is connected to the same work network I am. His connection says excellent where as mine said good. His device connects just fine with full bars. I'm baffled. I've already tried manually selecting 2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz instead of auto select and that didn't help at all. I've tried manually turning off WiFi and turning it back on. I've tried turning airplane mode on and then off to refresh the connection and that didn't help. I've done a battery pull as someone in one of the android authority forums suggested that (apparently I am not the only one having this issue.), didn't work. I've unchecked WiFi optimization - no dice. There was another post on a different forum here on XDA that said turning off WiFi and then deleting the WiFi config folder located in data/etc/wifi and then rebooting fixed the issue for them so I tried that. After reboot when I tried to turn on WiFi my G3 rebooted itself. Does it everytime. SO, I had to restore to a nandroid backup (btw I'm on rooted stock 10f) to get the phone to stop hating my WiFi toggle attempts. Last ditch effort I did a factory reset hoping for an easy fix... Nope. I don't know what else to try. It was fine yesterday all day. This morning it was perfectly fine and then randomly started having this issue. I haven't altered any system files whatsoever. I really don't want to send my device to LG for warranty replacement so I'm hoping someone can help me out that may have had this issue and resolved it. The only difference between my device and my coworkers device is he is still on 10d and I am on 10f. That could be the issue I guess but that doesn't really explain why my device has been perfectly fine until this morning and I've been on rooted 10f for weeks. I am planning on flashing back to straight bone factory stock 10d when I get home here in a few hours from work but Idk if that will help or not. Judging from the amount of google search results of "LG G3 WiFi connection problems" this seems to be an issue for several people. I won't know if it's on the software side or hardware side until I get home but in the meantime has anyone had these issues at all? People have had success in changing to Static IP but I would have to do that for every connection I attempt to connect to and that's a pain in the a$$. Also, that does nothing to identify the root cause of the issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated. =)

Thanks for the reply. So it turned out my phone just randomly decided it doesn't like my work network anymore. Idk why lol. I got home and it hooked right into WiFi. Gf's WiFi and open networks as well. I call shenanigans. I went ahead and flashed back to 10d anyway though.

I am having the same issue! But it is happening in other networks too...sometimes I get the phone to connect but it only works for a while and when I check the networks it only says Saved, even if I try to connect again
Having the same issue, whether at work or home, my wifi has become near useless. I've even gone as far as trying a different ROM. Didn't work.
Same thing here
I also have tried factory reset, installed a new ROM, changed settings in my router... but the problem remains I don't know what to do anymore, I use wifi a lot!! I searched through other topics but no one seem to know how to solve it. Unfortunately my warranty already expired, I took my phone to some technicians but honestly it didn't help at all...they all said it was a software bug and I should wait for an update but if it was just that a new ROM would fix it,right?
I am not very familiar with phone hardware but I assume that if it was a hardware problem I wouldn't be able to turn it on or connect to any network, right?? (any experts here???)
Any solution is welcomed.
anyone please?? :crying:
P.S : I tried a new baseband, new kernel and new ROMs. So far, nothing changed.
I can connect sometimes but get kicked out within minutes. At other times I only get the saved, secured message.
This is happening in every network
Hey guys. I'm having a very weird WiFi issue on my A520F.
Today the WiFi froze. It wouldn't turn off when I switched it off. After I while it turned off but took ages to turn it on again.
I factory reseted the device because I thought it was a software issue. It didn't work - after the first boot it was the same.
After a while after this, the WiFi started working again, but only for a period of time, then it would just freeze again for apparently no reason. Switching it off and on solves the issue for a while, then it freezes again saying that my WiFi is limited.
I can't take any logs since I'm not rooted (and don't have a PC to use ADB), and this is really scaring me since it happened out of nowhere. An hour before this started happening WiFi was working just fine.
I haven't installed anything unusual today, just connected for the first time on a new, but trusted, WiFi.
I've also reseted my WiFi router to its factory settings, thinking that it could be the issue, but the problem persisted. My Chromecast works just fine on the very same network.
Did this happened to anyone before? I've tried to root my phone a while back and, since it didn't worked out, I gave up and flashed the latest firmware from my country. This phone originally came with German firmware in it and I flashed it to a Brazilian one, which is the one I'm using and had no issues so far.
Can this be a hardware issue?
Thanks in advance!
So I guess I'll end up solving this on the weirdest way I can imagine.
After I posted I logged into my modem's settings and took a log at its logs. Seems that the moment this issue started to happen was near the time that the DNS server my modem was using started to fail.
I never thought that such a simple thing could mess this things like this. I mean, the DNS server is essential, but how that could freeze my phone's WiFi? Either way, I changed the DNS to Google's DNS and since then I haven't had any freeze or disconnetion. I'll test a bit more to see if the problem is gone.
Well, I do believe that I found the root of the problem.
As some of you may know, modems tend to stay on for a very long period of time (no one wants to lose internet connection, so we rarely reboot then), and for reasons I don't know (and as a tech support guy I've seen this happen A LOT) they freeze sometimes and only work again after being completely turned off and on.
Since the issue started again when I was messing with the modem settings (trying to change the DNS again to see if the problem would return), I decided to give my modem a few minutes of rest.
After that, I've powered it on again and went through the initial setup (my ISP provides an simple wizard when you first connect to the WiFi) and up until now I'm not having issues.
I'll wait a few more hours to report again, but so far so good.
So it seems that giving those things a few minutes rest every month or so isn't a bad thing at all.
