[Q] Clarity Required on Debranding

OK guys, I just want some clear answers on this. I've done a bit of forum searching but not entirely sure.
As I understand it, I can:
1: Unlock a branded vodafone UK phone with HTCdev.com
2: In doing this, it will 'delete' the CID.
3: Download the most recent stock unbranded OTA file from the forums.
4: Run the OTA instructions through computer installation.
Note: This should work as the CID is deleted?
5: Once this is done, I have suddenly have a stock official rom?
6: What would now happen when the next official OTA is due?
7: What rom would boot if I then did a full factory reset?
8: Because I did all of this with S ON, I can't go back to voda crapware so my warranty is basically void?
If any of you could give me clarity on the questions and above points, that would be awesome.
You can't bebranded without Super CID - having no CID means no update will run
OTA updates have the pre-requisite version in the name, e.g.
OTA_ENDEAVOR_U_ICS_40_HTC_Europe_1.28.401.9-1.26.401.2_release_256505w0tk6eiq8g74y4vb.zip
This means you HAVE to be on 1.26.401.2 to update to 1.28.401.9
To debrand you need to flash an unbranded RUU, which you cannot do at this time. All you can do is flash a 'stock' custom ROM
In that case, are there any stock 'custom' roms out there that can:
1: be reverted back to bloatware stock rom for warranty purposes
2: if and when official stock OTA are available, they can be downloaded and installed on top of the stock custom rom?

The closest custom ROM to stock is the Android Revolution HD ROMs. If you do a nandroid backup as soon as you flash the custom recovery you can easily go back to stock by restoring your backup and flashing the stock recovery and then re-locking the phone.
How do I do a nandroid backup? I take it the backup is stored on my computer or something?
When you say custom recovery, do you mean the custom rom?
And lastly, when official OTA updates are released and the maker of arhd is kind enough to implement the changes into their rom, can this be installed as an update or does it require wiping the phone and installing a new arhd rom all over again?
Ps guys, thanks for all the help so far. I'm slowly starting to understand...

A nandroid backup is the backup you make when you root your phone and flash a custom recovery on it.
A custom recovery is not a custom ROM. A custom recovery is like a ms dos program for your phone. It is used to flash a custom ROM or backup your ROM (nandroid backup)
The latest ARHD ROM is based on the latest 1.28.401 base so all the updates and tweaks on the 1.28.401 is already there but optimized more.

Nandroid backup: A backup taken from ClockworkMod recovery using the UI on the phone. The backup is saved on the sdcard. It's good practice to keep a backup of it on the computer as well.
Custom recovery: The recovery is not the same as the "ROM". The recovery is a small partition on the device that you can boot into. From the recovery you can make changes to the main system, "ROM".
Updates: When updates are issued you should never use the OTA update. It may cause alot of problems. ROM builders/chefs are usually very quick to fetch an OTA update and implement it in their ROM so one usually ends up with the update quicker then if one would have waited for the OTA. When installing a smaller update, a wipe is often not required. It is always recommended to take new nandroid backups before installing updates though in case something goes wrong.

[Q] Returning to Stock

I basically want to have nandroid backup of the stock ROM, so I was wondering if this was doable...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1433101
Could I run this and still have a custom recovery? Or would it overwrite my recovery with whatever stock has? I don't remember... I plan to run all of the OTA updates and everything in order to have this nandroid backup if/when I need to take my phone into Sprint.

Nandroid backup

I made a nandroid backup last november(Official Stock 4.1.2),since im going to flash a rom
So is it possible to go back in my Nandroid backup(Official Stock 4.1.2)?
I already have a bootloader of NE4.
It is unlikely that a 4.1.2 nandroid will restore properly to a KK bootloader.

HTC One M8- Backup Stock Recovery For Future OTA Updates? 5.0.1

Backup stock recovery for future OTA updates?
Hello,
I am currently on lollipop 5.0.1. I am looking to root the device and install TWRP as my go to recovery. I have being advised to backup my stock recovery so I am able to go back and update via OTA in the future.
I am unsure what the process is to backup stock recovery, any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
Your stock recovery will be in the next update. When being notified you download it but don't install it yet, take out the recovery.img from the ota.zip and flash it before you actually install the full ota.
No need to back it up now.
as an alternative to the above (which works just fine btw)
on the M8, you can boot into TWRP instead of flashing it
Code:
fastboot boot <name of twrp>.img
that will get you to twrp recovery, while the stock recovery is still on the phone, from there you can do a nandroid backup

But after one bad incident(unresponsive screen) i gave it to service centre and landed up with stock kitkat..now i have a rooted stock kitkat with twrp recovery.. my question is ..can i just restore the marshmallow backup with twrp OR do i have to upgrade to stock marshmallow first.?
edit: nevermind..restored backup directly..
