I've had this from time to time on other devices. It typically happens when an update is borked or I uninstalled an app but the reference to it is still cached. In either case, the fix for me has always been to just find the app in the Play Store and reinstall it.
Not looking for a specific app, it's just that app in the drawer says it's not installed...........so how do I install HTC Apps?

It's listed under "play store" in you app drawer. Check again.
It must be installed if it says successfully?.. It is called play store
Restarted twice and found it.Thx.
Food for thought. Next time something like this happens, just try restarting your launcher to refresh the app drawer.

did you checked if in ur launcher you have an app called play store? thats the new market
it should be there, otherwise reboot the phone..it will for sure refresh the apps in the launcher
Also, if you just need to access it before it shows up in your app drawer, you can just hit search and type it in to launch the app.
reboot got it going, thanks.

Reboot your phone.
What is Video Hub and why is it always running even after I kill it? What is the purpose of it running all the time? Same question for S Suggest; why is it always running and how do I make it stop?

I disabled those stuff right away. If you're on stock TW, just press and hold the icon (as if to move it) and drag it down to 'app info' tab. When the application information comes up, hit force stop then disable it.

Excellent advice. In addition if you want to disable system apps and you are rooted, I recommend the often referenced here Titanium Backup. The paid version lets you freeze (disable) any app, even one's that the above method will not let you disable. Doing this for a fair amount of services that you aren't planning on using can really help out with battery life. If you are rooted, I also recommend the free ES Task Manager as it has the ability to selectively disable services from auto-starting on boot.
You should also notice a lot of apps that are always running not just those two. Its how Android works, it keeps it in memory so that it opens quicker. Its not supposed to cause battery drain but there's lots of debate about this. Definitely freeze anything you don't need or at least disable if you don't use. But you'll see a lot of things running in the background using a third party app. Usually its not that big of a deal unless they are using CPU

I tried this, but there is no option to disable. The only other option is "uninstall updates"

Almost there. Uninstall updates then disable.
hi. when i download whatsapp from google play store or through website its wont show up after installing ...any help ?
from amazon store whastapp version is outdated.so its also not work
I'm stuck on this too. It said the whatsapp version is outdated and the app is disabled. The amazon appstore does not have an updated version either,
Same.... Stupid fire phone, I'm debating what phone I want to jump ship for.
But I did find that if you install the APK from the google play store, it prompts if you want to run the app after installing it. When you run it, it shows up in your recent apps on the horizontal bar of previously opened apps. You can lock it in place there, but it won't show up in your app drawer. Go figure though, did we really expect support for a dead phone?
I just installed from play store and it shows up OK. I'm using a third party launcher though. Are you all on stock - if so, why? Or on a different Rom?

I think the problem all of you are having is that you have a copy of WhatsApp in your Amazon cloud. If you delete the app from your Amazon cloud apps and re-install WhatsApp from Google Play, the app's icon should also be installed.

thankx bro its working now
Anybody know how to remove the HTC apps like people, messages, mail?
Also is there a Google version of the people app?
Is there a way to get stock Android lock screen?
Only if you can disable them, otherwise you need root.
To replace people:

You can't disable the apps I mentioned (I did with others) and it says my device is incompatible with Google contacts for some reason!

Managed to find and install the latest version but still didn't make it show up in the play store so decided it's not worth it right now I guess.

Why should it show up in play store? Maybe the screen dpi or something needs to get updates in the app to show up. If you installed it from the source I send, you should be able to use it. No need to update

I can't be bothered to keep manually checking if a new version comes out etc so was hoping perhaps installing apk would force it to show in the play store. Plus I still can't get rid of the HTC people app.
DPI seemed fine to me so not sure why it's not there.
Hi,
When I search for apps on Google Play, quite a lot of software are not available, compared to other tablet/phone (e.g. Samsung).
I can manually install the apk and it works fine.
Is there anyway to make those software show up on Google Play?
Thanks

Try the Market Helper app. It works well for me (it did, anyway), but YMMV. Make sure you've got root access enabled in developer settings and/or SuperSU installed, as the app requires root to do its job.

I usually choose to fake/emulate one of the phones in the Phone section (the HTC One X+ works for my purposes, but you may want to change that if the Play Store blocks apps you're interested in). Make sure that, if you're using a Marshmallow/CM13 ROM, you grant the Market Helper app access to contacts, phone, and storage via the app's listing in the system settings; without those permissions, it can't do what it's designed to do. Also, when the app sends the device info over to the Android Device Manager servers, you may get an error message saying it can't send the device config (this happened to me recently, but I was able to successfully spoof the device in the past). In that case, the app won't work until the developer updates it, and you'll have to use the old-fashioned manual apk download & install process (or use a third-party app store).
Thanks for the tip on permission. That error did pop up.
Once the spoof is activated, Google Device Manager did show the latest activity is from the fake device. However, Google Play Store still hide the apps. For example, Plants vs Zombies 2. Tried several devices, including those I have for real and have the app in Play Store but none of them can pull out the apps.
Is there any other steps?
Thanks

Clear the cache for the Play Store app, and also try force stopping the Google Services Framework app. After that, if you still can't get it to work, try giving the device a couple hours to let the Play Store adapt to the device spoof.

Tried all suggestion, except the clearing cache does not work on CM13. Still not getting the apps showing up.

which CM13 ROM/build are you running? You might want to clear app data for the Play Store if you can't clear the cache itself. Also, I'm pretty sure the device spoof is reset on reboot.
