whatsapp not showing up after installing - Amazon Fire Phone

hi. when i download whatsapp from google play store or through website its wont show up after installing ...any help ?
from amazon store whastapp version is outdated.so its also not work

I'm stuck on this too. It said the whatsapp version is outdated and the app is disabled. The amazon appstore does not have an updated version either,

Same.... Stupid fire phone, I'm debating what phone I want to jump ship for.
But I did find that if you install the APK from the google play store, it prompts if you want to run the app after installing it. When you run it, it shows up in your recent apps on the horizontal bar of previously opened apps. You can lock it in place there, but it won't show up in your app drawer. Go figure though, did we really expect support for a dead phone?

I just installed from play store and it shows up OK. I'm using a third party launcher though. Are you all on stock - if so, why? Or on a different Rom?

I think the problem all of you are having is that you have a copy of WhatsApp in your Amazon cloud. If you delete the app from your Amazon cloud apps and re-install WhatsApp from Google Play, the app's icon should also be installed.

Google wallet and Google play books icons

I've just updated my nexus to jelly bean and its great but there's something I've noticed that the Google wallet and playbooks icons are visible in the app menu
And it says its available in Google play but I can't find the icons and I can't uninstall them so I can install them again
Anyone has this problem .
Updated from ICS 4.0.4 (with Google wallet and play books available )
To jelly bean
I didn't lock the device after installing jelly bean at bootloader screen ,should l lock it
The number of the jelly bean build is JRN84D
I too found the same problem after installing 'takju' and later updating to JB. Use the uninstall option from the play store and u will able to see the icons on your home screen, however on updating them again the icons gets hidden.

I've tried but the app appears to be installed from the play store but it does not appear in the apps at the settings
are you in the US? did you notice that it happened only after connecting to your wifi or when your sim is inserted?
check this video might should help you: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0GIFsd2ehBM
I made the video at morning when I was going to sleep and quality is not really good because I recorded it via iPod..
if you are rooted and you want to remove play movies, etc. then remove them from system/app/ <---- folder

No I'm from Saudi Arabia and I noticed the problem after I've the OS so I thought I would find it in the play store
OK I think I found a way.
I went to the play store in the web
Entered with my account and found out that the apps in mention weren't installed so I installed them from the web and found the icons on the device.
But I don't know why it acted the way it did ,the important thing is that icons are visible
Well I tried the apps but it said its not supported in my country
The wallet app that I can understand but why the books app ?

ok!
I kinda have a similar problem, the icons just disappeared after getting my google account set up, probably since they're not supported in my country...
Anyways, I shall uninstall them.
Unsupported apps
I experienced the same after upgrading to JB here in Indonesia -- Play Books, Play Movies, and Wallet icons are not visible (annoyingly, when adding every Google account I get prompted if I want to set up Google Wallet -- what for, since there's no way to then launch the app?)
I remember the same happening when upgrading my Nexus One to Gingerbread -- to Google Voice. Thankfully Google hasn't decided to region-lock Google Voice and Google Play Music this time, only the latter.
If I remember correctly, the last time this happened, the fix is to install a *later* version of the affected applications on top of the system app that ships with the system ROM. as that is not available at the moment, I guess we're stuck for now. Does anyone know more?
well I updated to 4.1.1 and still no icons of wallet and play books or movies , so far I'm enjoying jelly bean and as long as I can use google wallet online , that's ok

App screen layout - how did he do it?

Hi please see attached pic. How is this possible to display all your apps in this fashion? I have never seen this before nor is he saying how it's done. http://youtu.be/8SCsH86MYl8

I haven't played around with many launchers but that's what it is. Specifically, I think it may be this one
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2790392
There are no pics there either but just from reading a lot on this site and others that's what I think it is. In my opinion, these work best when kftv launcher is frozen (requires root and xposed) but some don't want to completely bypass it because you lose prime content. Its not the only launcher. there are lots of them but I do like this developer. He has shortcuts you can use from within kodi to launch youtube, netflix and get back to aftv homescreen.
If you are rooted and do freeze the main launcher I'd just use caution. The other day I read someone on a different site froze kftv with no backup launcher installed. Now he's stuck. I don't want to make it sound dangerous. I was actually using a different mod that launched right into xbmc without xposed modules but I was careful and had a fallback launcher so if anything went wrong I still had something to boot in to.
Or if you just want to safely play around and you aren't rooted you might try this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2782307
I tried it when I first got AFTV and it's pretty cool but I notice it's had some nice updates since. It basically runs on top of KFTV launcher so I think hitting the home button takes you right back to the normal menu. It does help eliminate all the clicks it takes to get from start to the app you want--IMO one of the weaker points in the aftv ui
Thanks for the information. I'm going to look into it. I'm rooted with custom boot menu and clockworkmod recovery. If anything happens, I can easily boot into recovery and flash a rooted ROM again.
Klit75 its not firedtv launcher. I am not sure what it is, but definitely not that launcher.
The answer is simple, install the amazon app store apk, reboot, finished. Keep the apk, cause if you need to install amazon apps you will have to uninstall then reinstall when finished. It basically disables you from doing anything on the amazon store while you have the app store installed, but thats the way you get your apps to look like that.

I'm a little confused. The amazon app store is already installed by default on all Amazon Fire TV's. It's on the list of apps when you go to settings/manage installed apps/
Are you saying to download the amazon apk from elsewhere, sideload it and install it over the existing Amazon app store?

That is exactly what he is saying it works but you wont be able to install anymore amazon apps. You would have to uninstall amazon appstore and resynch to get the firetv version of appstore.... soo install everything you need from the amazon app store first.

lol Okay, will give it a try! Sounds simple enough. Amazon App Store sucks anyway and I already have the Play store installed.
I wonder if it will auto populate the list of apps when I install any new apps from Play Store? I'm also assuming sideloading apps doesn't get affected by this? I will try both when I get home and will report back my findings.
Thank you guys.

Facebook on Fire Phone

Odd one.
The other day, Facebook did one of it's routine updates and now no longer works.
All i get is the blue facebook screen with the F logo flashing - that's all it does!
I've tried uninstalling / reinstalling - i even updated the phone to 4.6.6 to see if that helped. Now it won't install from the Playstore at all.
Has anyone else had problems with this app - everything else is working fine!
People reported problems with the latest update(s). They all started using older versions as a workaround
jack9955 said:
Older versions of Facebook can be found on APK Mirror.
Here is a link to the most recent non alpha or beta version I could find that should work on the Fire Phone: Facebook 55.0.0.18.66 (Android 4.0.3+)

To reinstall the latest Amazon version of FB, I found that, in the Amazon app store, you need to 1st search for the FB messenger app, click on it, then scroll to the bottom where it says "More apps by this developer" and Facebook will be under that, just click and install from there, videos work too. Facebook version 45.0.0.38.146.
If you click on the facebook app under other apps by developer it states currently unavailable

it happened to me.. you can download facebook apk older version, but it auto updates..better to install from amazon appstore. I have another problem after all this. Suddenly, my google play store downloads are stuck at 80% etc and wont install or update apps..also play services stopped working..tried uninstalling and reinstalling google apps. did not work. I had to factory reset the phone. Play store worked fine for couple of days and now shows with same problem again. Anybody has this problem?
Yes me too have the same oeoblem
It seems like the newest (feb 19th) is working again (still no video). Just install it and tell that app dont autoupdate. ( it does take about 30 seconds to open the first time)

As mentioned earlier, install them from Amazon app store and disable auto update of them from play store.

Lack of apps on Goolge Play with CyanogenMod ROM

Hi,
When I search for apps on Google Play, quite a lot of software are not available, compared to other tablet/phone (e.g. Samsung).
I can manually install the apk and it works fine.
Is there anyway to make those software show up on Google Play?
Thanks

Try the Market Helper app. It works well for me (it did, anyway), but YMMV. Make sure you've got root access enabled in developer settings and/or SuperSU installed, as the app requires root to do its job.

I usually choose to fake/emulate one of the phones in the Phone section (the HTC One X+ works for my purposes, but you may want to change that if the Play Store blocks apps you're interested in). Make sure that, if you're using a Marshmallow/CM13 ROM, you grant the Market Helper app access to contacts, phone, and storage via the app's listing in the system settings; without those permissions, it can't do what it's designed to do. Also, when the app sends the device info over to the Android Device Manager servers, you may get an error message saying it can't send the device config (this happened to me recently, but I was able to successfully spoof the device in the past). In that case, the app won't work until the developer updates it, and you'll have to use the old-fashioned manual apk download & install process (or use a third-party app store).
Thanks for the tip on permission. That error did pop up.
Once the spoof is activated, Google Device Manager did show the latest activity is from the fake device. However, Google Play Store still hide the apps. For example, Plants vs Zombies 2. Tried several devices, including those I have for real and have the app in Play Store but none of them can pull out the apps.
Is there any other steps?
Thanks

Clear the cache for the Play Store app, and also try force stopping the Google Services Framework app. After that, if you still can't get it to work, try giving the device a couple hours to let the Play Store adapt to the device spoof.

Tried all suggestion, except the clearing cache does not work on CM13. Still not getting the apps showing up.

which CM13 ROM/build are you running? You might want to clear app data for the Play Store if you can't clear the cache itself. Also, I'm pretty sure the device spoof is reset on reboot.

Any advancements on the google play store for rooted fire tv 2nd gen?

I still constantly get downgraded (or upgraded i guess) on my rooted second gen running the google play store firetv edition. I have auto update apps turned off and I am on Build Version :5.10.31-leanback
Is there a better version or a new solution out there or do i have to keep uninstalling it in es file explorer back to its original state then logging back in.

You can use an app called apk icon editor and that will resign the apk so it wont even check for updates or you can download an app called disable service, look for playstore in the app and disable the three entries, that start with reschedular....

Download "Apps2Fire" from Playstore, https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobi.koni.appstofiretv&hl=en set it up, you have to link your Amazon Fire TV IP address. Download "Disable Service" from Playstore, https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cn.wq.disableservice&hl=en, go to Playstore apk in the app and disable three services that start with Reschedular....I linked photo to show which three. You wont be bothered by updates anymore. Very simple to recheck to undo everything I suggested. Gd luck bro! Lmk how it goes!!!
