I decided to download this and check it out. I expected to see all 4 cores running 100% @ 2.3GHz, but it seems to be throttled at 1.7GHz when all 4 cores are maxed out. CPU and Battery temp are normal so it's not overheating or anything.
Has anyone else played with it?
you have the asian version of M8?

Oh no, sorry I typed 2.5, but I meant 2.3.
Using Trickster Mod, I enabled frequency lock and it worked. Now all 4 cores at 2.3GHz @ 100% load. Now I can warm my hands...

Dev's are super awesome, don't get me wrong.
When are we likely to see OC'd tegra3'?
What needs to happen before we see that?
When it stops crapping itself as it is. lol

How do you mean?
I've not really encountered any problems with it. I have seen Dual Core clocked at 2.0Ghz.
My general question was, are we likely to oc'd tegra3's..
This is the 1st Android phone I don't feel like overclocking. I've underclocked my One X to 1.2GHz so the phone will run cooler and longer, so far have not seen any slow down.

Which ROM are you running?
Android Revolution HD 1.2.1 using SetCPU, it also works on stock rooted ROM.
P.S. I also set governor from on-demand to interactive to give better battery life.

exactly I've been thinking UC would solve heat issues, 200-300mhz will not cause a major effect
what app did you use?
But does setcpu support 4 core control? You may have underclocked 1/2 of the cores but probably not all of them

I have no idea, let me run some benchmark tests at different speed set with SetCPU.
Hello,
I know it's stupid but i would like to overclock my OneX, what kernel should I choose ?
Thank you.

only faux kernel betas allow OC
big warning OC is bad for the HOX given the thermal envelope
you are risking both you battery and processor if you OC
i know you are used to OC from other devices but those had headroom, it is not the case this time, T3 is operating at its max thermal capabilities on the HOX
You right, thank you.

It's not stupid and I'm dying to overclock my HOX also. Unfortunately Faux's kernels won't let me overclock on my phone, I'm going to name my first kid for whoever is the first to let us overclock this beast .
As already said it gets already hot enough, overclocking will kill it.
And I used to love overclocking on my Xperia Arc, overclocked it 60%
But I think the HOX isn't made for it

the snapdragon 2 on the Arc had a lot of headroom
the chipset is rated @ 1.5ghz stable!
not the case with T3 its milking the very maximum of the 40nm process
in other words Nvidia is OCing its T3 out of box because their chips are designed to survive massive amount of heat (sadly it doesnt mean the battery or other components would survive)
it is already Overclocked lol
sometimes you have to listen to the "science" of it and surrender
feel sorry for the kid
Why you need to overclock this beast. It is already an monster. Don't let it destroy.

It's fast enough already, leave the poor thing alone!
It's already running a fever!
I would actually like to underclock mine to keep heat down

I understand why people want to overclock. Why does someone tune a brand new sports car after all it is fast enough to reach the limit in no time.
What gets me is people posting "just leave it" "its fast enough". It's not your device and I'm sure they know its fast enough. Please those kinds of post really arnt needed.
As for the OC in faux's early (001bX) kernels overclocking was available although it was found there are 3 variants of the Tegra 3 SoC. And Asian variant, European and Australian variants. Each reacted differently to OC.
Taken from faux kerenel thread. Everything about OC'ing is from page 10~ to 45~ for anyone interested.
faux123 said:
WHOA! You have ANOTHER variant for Tegra3 Wow... how many variants are there... I will try to give you an OC build for your variant...
So far there are 3 Tegra3 variants:
Variant 1: European -- So far not OC capable (boot loops)
Variant 2: Australian -- Status unknown.. just reported...
Variant 3: Asian (Non-Australian) -- OC capable @ 1.70 GHz (very stable)

If you're wondering id love to have the capability of overclocking doesn't mean ill be overclocked 24/7
EDIT: @Kris underclocking is available on every kernel something like setcpu or sys tuner will be all you need. Although if your looking to keep heat down there's a thread on XDA about an app called corecontrol (not the one on play store) that can limit the Tegra 3 to 2 cores. Another thing too look at for reducing heat is undervolting. Sys tuner is also capable of this. Currently I believe faux's kernel is the only kernel with true UV control

I use Faux's kernels and even though I have the Asian one that supposedly can be overclocked to 1,700, mine maxes out at 1,500 just like all of the other ones. Still the Faux kernel upped my quadrant speed from 4,700 to 5,000 and seems quicker so I still use it daily. I'm still waiting for the first kernel that can be overclocked .
Only the early kernels had OC it was removed to avoid bootloops in the euro and aus tegra3's the 003bx kernels don't have oc ability

any one know of a way to check if one of my cores on the one if is not working or on its way out phones bean slow ish for past few days i know bench marks dont matter but i do them all the time and i used to get over 14000 on cpu only on quadrant were it tells u io / ram / cpu and stuff but now its not seeming to go over 11000 which is making be believe one of the cores is broke any ideas people am using arHD 9.6.0 and faux 010u
You can try any of those two:
CPU Spy (free)
Tablet CPU Usage monitor (Paid)

One core 1.7
Two cores 1.6
Four cores 1.4
Assuming you opt for uli oc and have a v3 chip.
Quadrant isn't a good bench mark as the.scores vary way to much to make it a good indicator antutu is better, try antutu the hox normally scores between 10 - 12 k on it.

thanks alot for the help people and i have just tried antutu and got a score of 12500 is that about right variant 2 full quad core 1.55 faux010u

I was using set CPU to adjust my governor when i saw that the max frequency my phone is set to is 1.497 ghz and no matter what app i use to set the CPU frequency it always changes back to 1.497. And according to the cpu monitor the CPU has never run above this locked frequency. Anyone else with this problem?
You sure you have a genuine Note 3 and not one of those knock offs?
If it's genuine, are you running a custom ROM and/or kernel?

I'm positive, I got it new from t-mobile. I'm running stock that was rooted with cf auto root. Today I see that the phone actually used 2.3 ghz for .38% of the 12 hours it was off the charger last night but I still am not able to set the max frequency.
Hmmm... have you tried wiping the data and app cache for SetCPU?
Sounds like one of your CPU apps has a lock on the config.
You most likely have power saving mode on. It clocks cpu down when you use it

Thanks that was it. I don't know how it got on i had to search to find out where it was. Wish there was something on my phone to tell me it was on.
Download CPU Spy and see if it list anything above 1.44ghz, I wonder if this phone is really going into 1.8ghz at max

Mine was.
same here, no core goes over 1440mhz
hmmm, but otherwiese thos pjone outperformes any other phone ....
The app maybe reporting the speed of the 4 lower power cores, and not the 2 higher power cores. My guess anyway.
hmm like cpu-z it has max speed of 1440, i don't know about the detection for the speed of the 2 high power cores
I just had a play around with cpuz. For a brief moment I saw core 5 and 6 jump up to 1884. It looks like they remain idle until the other 4 need some assistance.
But yes, I've seen them get to 1.8ghz.
