[Q] Does the HTC M8 support HD Voice? - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

On networks like T-Mobile, Orange, Telia, etc.
Would I be able to make an HD voice call to an iPhone or other phone that supports it?

I would like to know this for AT&T as well.

this is called (VoLTE)Voice Over LTE or HD Voice. this was just launched in my country but not by my opertator and sadly its not there on the M8 ( assumption as its not listed in connectivity specs anywhere). if you want to look search for VoLTE in connectivity section in any phone specs

BTW everyone yes it does support HD Voice. Sounds amazing!

The M7, S5 and Note 3 all do as well from personal experience

TMO HD Voice on GSM Nexus -- Is it possible?

Hey guys, does anyone know if T-Mobile's HD Voice will work on the GSM Galaxy Nexus? Obviously the phone works on TMOBILE but of course since it's not an official TMO phone, will it get HD Voice?
Does anyone know if the HD Voice thing they're advertising an app that will be downloadable? Or is it going to be a hardware thing?
It looks like a hardware feature of the phone. If the GN supports it it should just work automatically once it's enabled on the network. That's just my reading of it though, T-Mo hasn't released much info about it.

Though I don't live in US, I don't think you could add phone feature by changing the rom.
I think you would have to have the international version that permits calls. I'm not sure if that will work in the states though because of frequencies etc.

If you're looking at the AT&T branded Note 8, SGH-i467, there's a thread in this forum on getting the phone capability enabled. I don't think anyone has been totally successful doing that:

If VoIP will sufficiently meet your calling needs, you'll be fine with that model. If you don't want to deal with the idiosyncrasies associated with VoIP, get the international version, GT-N5100. The LTE frequencies won't work on AT&T's or T-Mobile's networks so you'll be at HSPA+ speeds, but it is a true 8" smartphone.

I bought one from amazon and it had calling capability. Should be the same for all of them.
The are different variants of the Note 8. Some have phone capability and some do not. The most common variant sold in the US (in Best Buy and big box stores) is WiFi only. The model sold in AT&T stores has LTE, but the phone functionality has been removed. The N5100, available thro some Amazon vendors, its a true smartphone, but only works on AT&T and T-Mobile's HSPA+ network.

I use a note 8 LTE as my phone here in UK and am absolutly loving it....had to change from 3 mobile to O2 as 3 dont allow phone sims in tablets, seems O2 do cos its been working fine for about 3-4 weeks.
Rather than look foolish with a tablet next to my ear I purchased a galaxy gear which is not fully working as I am on stock 4.2.
Got rid of my note 2 and note 10.1 and have just a note 8, best thing I ever did!!!

[Q] AT&T HD Voice / Carrier Aggregation Unlocked M9?

I have my new HTC One M9 I bought directly from HTC, unlocked. The phone works perfect with AT&T; however, I am wondering why I can't make calls over LTE? I am in an HD voice market. Could it be because my nano sim is old (got it from my iPhone 5). Or could it be because the phone itself isn't running AT&T software on it? My LTE speeds don't seem that much better than my iPhone 5 either. Any suggestions?

It's not working for me either on my M9 on AT&T, works fine on my iPhone 6 Plus though, and there is no option I can find to turn it on or off...
I noticed something runs from sprint when I make HD calls might just be carrier system info missing from Dev phones

T-mobile vs unlocked: WiFi calling etc.

So I've decided to jump back on HTC ship with HTC 10.
The website says "The Unlocked version is compatible with AT&T and T-Mobile".
I assume that means radio bands compatibility only? And the features like Voice over WiFi will be still t-mobile branded only?
Asking existing HTC community if that's the case for the previous models?
And are there any other cons/pros of getting t-mobile branded version vs global?
Especially looking at OS updates frequency from HTC vs T-mobile.
Almost everything works for T-Mobile. From what I gathered of what was answered. Wifi calling, and VoLTE yes. In flight and RCS is a no.

T-mobile specific features like VoLTE and Wifi calling will be fully supported by the unlocked version on HTC.com

Thank you!
These are great news! I'm glad I went with unlocked version!
I'm tired of all the t-mobile bloatware and dragging of android updates.
Yea no enhanced voice services im guessing
I wonder if HTC will have interest in adding EVS and RCS down the road. I don't see why they wouldn't...
Wow this is HUGE IMO. No more requirement to load TMOUS FW or RUU so that VoLTE and WiFi Calling work!

Verizon version

The unlocked version of this phone doesn't seem to be compatible with Verizon's 5g mmwave and many features like wifi calling, hd audio, and hd video calling are not available on the unlocked 5G like the original Razr that was a Verizon exclusive. Any help is appreciated. This is highly frustrating. Just don't know why these features can't at least be enabled while just using 4G LTE.
Wifi calling is unsupported by verizon on their end, mmwave is unsupported because afaik verizon is the only one that tried pushing for it. As far as hd audio I'm assuming you're talking about VoLTE which mine does perfectly fine on Verizon, you may have to call verizon and have them switch your line to LTE only as that's how my line is set up due using oneplus devices. As for video calling I'm really not sure how any of it works, I thought it gets routed through duo?
