I have my new HTC One M9 I bought directly from HTC, unlocked. The phone works perfect with AT&T; however, I am wondering why I can't make calls over LTE? I am in an HD voice market. Could it be because my nano sim is old (got it from my iPhone 5). Or could it be because the phone itself isn't running AT&T software on it? My LTE speeds don't seem that much better than my iPhone 5 either. Any suggestions?

It's not working for me either on my M9 on AT&T, works fine on my iPhone 6 Plus though, and there is no option I can find to turn it on or off...
I noticed something runs from sprint when I make HD calls might just be carrier system info missing from Dev phones

My brother lives in the US, I live in Holland, Europe. As he was visiting me, he fell in love with the DHD.
The big question now is, can he use the phone normally in the States. I know the phone is quadband, so calling and texting should be fine. But I'm not really aware of which techniques/frequencies Verizon uses for data/3G. Can he use this phone there?
At the moment he has a blackberry with a simcard, so he can just put that one in the DHD I reckon?
He will be able to use the phone on GSM networks only, and won't receive any 3G. 2G / EDGE will work fine however.
He could also try to get an Inspire which is basically the American GSM Desire HD which should support 3G and even 4G if he's on AT&T.

Also I see that the Thunderbolt is coming soon. Isn't that like the DHD from Verizon. (he's on Verizon at the moment, and I'm not sure if he's willing to switch)
Indeed, the Thunderbolt is the Verizon Desire HD equivalent. You got me confused because Verizon don't use SIM cards and the DHD definitely won't work on Verizon.
Well, he has a blackberry with a SIM card at the moment. As I understand though, the blackberry is a hybrid phone which uses GSM(sim card) and CDMA.
Still think it's weird he currently owns a Verizon phone with a SIM card though.

I believe the new verizon phones must be global so yes it should work.. my dna is global and that was a verizon exclusive so I do not see why the one would not be.

Um... what? Why bother getting the Verizon variant of the One if you're going to be using it on AT&T's network? Yes, it'll work because all of Verizon's new smartphones are unlocked and support GSM, but... why?
Just buy the AT&T variant. Same thing, plus you'll have working FM radio and LTE support on AT&T and T-Mobile if you want it in the future.

No I have a s4 and was gonna plan on exchange at Costco.. So I just wondering if it would workout! I plan on paying out of Verizon,,just for now then sell it when I am ready to get att phone and have lte as well...

TMK, it should work. If memory serves, the Verizon HTC One is just a standard global HTC One with Verizon's customizations. Now, having said that, Verizon has been known to disable\completely remove\block the GSM functionality of global phones in the past when they release a version for their network(Droid Bionic, Droid RAZR, ect..) so it's entirely possible that, while the phone is physically capable of operating outside Verizon's network, that Verizon has blocked it from doing so.

I don't think they are allowed to do this anymore. My dna is a fully global phone and works with a sim out of the box

You are correct. Verizon is required to have all global-capable phones unlocked out of the box. This is why the Verizon iPhone 5 was such a magnet for fraud.
I have a Verizon HTC One M8 and I have AT&T. I can get it to pick up service but for the life of me it will not pick up HSPA+ or 3G. So far I have only been able to get it running on Edge which obviously is unacceptable. Verizon phones can be such a pain in the ass. Anyone have any suggestions?

I didn't buy the phone to use on AT&T. It just so happened it fell into my lap and I wanted to play around with it for a bit but unfortunately I can't get it to pick up 3G. In all fairness you are asking about the HTC one m8 and this is a thread for the m7 so if you wanna try and get a real response you might want to check out the Verizon m8 forums not the m7. This subject has been been brought up before for the m7 and its not possible. The m8 on the other hand once again is a different phone. I know they have had success getting lte and all that working for our phone to T-Mobile.

It wasn't a witty response. Was a real actual question. I see so many threads of people buying Verizon phones and try to make them fully work on gsm networks. Just because it says global phone doesn't mean every part of the phone will work on gsm networks. So that's why I asked is the Verizon version cheaper than its gsm counterparts.

Yes, it works fine with HSPA+. For LTE, it could connect with LTE, but my situation is I can't make phone calls and text messages under LTE. Hope this would help.
The Verizon HTC One will work on any network, I can't speak for bands/speeds.
I'm in New Zealand, I brought my VZW One with me, works like a charm on all of their GSM networks here.
On networks like T-Mobile, Orange, Telia, etc.

this is called (VoLTE)Voice Over LTE or HD Voice. this was just launched in my country but not by my opertator and sadly its not there on the M8 ( assumption as its not listed in connectivity specs anywhere). if you want to look search for VoLTE in connectivity section in any phone specs
BTW everyone yes it does support HD Voice. Sounds amazing!

I have two Nexus 7 LTE tablets that I acquired from Craigslist. One came with a T-Mobile SIM card, the other is in a Verizon branded box and clearly came from Verizon retailer.
I was under the impression that ALL of the Nexus 7 LTE tablets are unlocked. However, when I boot the T-Mobile one, the bootloader shows a unlocked symbol at the bottom, however the Verizon one does not. I'm not sure if this is just Verizon trickery or not.
Would I be able to use the Verizon one on a GSM network? I assume the internal hardware is identical between the two.
The unlock icon at boot has nothing to do with carrier locking, that's if the bootloader was unlocked.

Yes you can use a Verizon one on a gsm network. I got a Verizon one on T-Mobile right now.

My Verizon sold N7 actually works with my T-Mobile unlimited PHONE sim. I only do that at home since I don't have a case for it yet, but I have sms through xposed, the T-Mobile visual voicemail, and Vonage for outgoing calls. Tethering also only shows as data used, not tethering. I've done this many times with no issues.
Just wondering if it works on all carriers or should I wait for the unlocked version ? Thanks.

I have a vzw line. Popped in vzw sim. Then popped in my tmo sim. Data and calls work. Speed was faster on tmo sim though.

I just picked up a Verizon S8+ (i had a T-Mobile one but just returned it) and i popped a T-Mobile SIM Card in it and i got a message saying "This is not a Verizon Wireless SIM Card" and it wouldn't let me use it. I thought it was supposed to be unlocked??
It is unlocked. After swapping Sims the only change you got to make is change preffered network mode from LTE/CDMA to LTE/GSM oh and go to APN and choose your new sim card apn. And thats it. Ive tried all carriers on my Verizon S8+ with no problems

What probably will not work on any carrier phone other than TMobile will be WiFi calling when using TM SIM.

I have a Verizon S8+ on AT&T unlimited service and it works perfectly. So you'll be good for Tmo as well. I have no clue about Sprint tho.

When I got my VZW S8+ I popped in my tmo sim first thing. It worked flawlessly out of the box. I didnt even have to add any APN settings as all of the tmo settings were built in. Awesome job sammy!
What about video call ect I'm having issues getting that **** to work is u pres *#77467# it says false on all the **** why won't the ims register that controls all that
I have an issue with s8+ using AT&T sim. The issue is that the phone shows a plus sign in front of my all incoming calls treating them as international calls. Does anyone know the solution?
The phones are completely unlocked, what you need to do is look up the VPN settings that T-mobile, or at&t use for their phones and set them accordingly. Though some functions might not work with non-Verizon carriers through changing these functions. (messages, video calling, etc..)
Thank you all. I bought the s8+ from Verizon out right because I wasnt sure if I was going to stick with them. And it looks like I am moving to t-Mobile this month, I was going to look into flashing the firmware, but I was worried since I used Samsung pay like crazy. So I am fine with just disabling the verizon apps and going from there.
Anyone know if the phone will still get updates if I swap in a T-Mobile SIM, or a Verizon-compatible one from Straight Talk while still on the VZW firmware?

It will if you use the VZW software update assistant. I've done 2 updates this way on my Verizon S8+ with my tmo sim in there. Works fine.

Fully work - no. Things like HD calling and wifi calling wont work without t-mobile software.
