Having a strange problem. When using any ROM besides the stock ROM, some apps crash.
I don't know what else to describe.
Roms tested:
CM11
CM10.2
PACROM
Apps that crash:
Swiftkey
Worms 2
It's a known issue. From my experience it seems to affect paid apps from the Play Store, but not free ones, so maybe something to do with the licensing check?
The solution is to back them up with Titanium Backup, uninstall, then restore the app.

I'm hating it with a passion and I don't know if its something that I may be missing. I purchased the full version and use it to ''Backup Apps + Data'' since I know that backing up system data screws up your phone.
Everytime I switch ROMs I run ''restore apps + data'' and upon completion I run into a ton of force closes and terrible lag issues. I also notice that the lag happens when I'm browsing on 4g. (the force closes happen all the time with almost all the apps)
I end up downloading all my apps all over again and losing my achievements and progress in games. I beat Angry Birds in like 2 days and now I have to do it again.
By the way I always download the busybox in the problems link in titanium backup. I always wipe dalvik and factory reset in between ROMs.

I only get problems when I restore system apps, If I just restore user apps there is no problem. dont restore system data, it will overwrite the good new stuff in the new rom you just flashed and frankenstein it into both the old and the new, hence yhe fc's
sounds like you're restoring something you shouldn't. Don't just do a batch restore, make sure that you're only restoring the apps you want.
Different roms work with different version of wireless tether, spare parts, etc. Just as ZJ mentioned, you restore something that a new rom changed and it could cause problems.
Also, be careful switching between Sense and AOSP Roms, even with just user apps. People have had problems with that. But going from AOSP rom to AOSP rom, I've never had a problem. (I have the paid version, and I switch back and forth constantly.)
I wouldn't say that I've lost faith in TB, but I have never really been a big fan of it. The only things I b/u with TB is Angry Birds, and bookmarks. Everything else I b/u to Astro, or just re-d/l from the market. I try to do a clean install from the market whenever switching ROMS to avoid any data issues.
I use it every time I do a rom to restore all my apps and certain system data. The green things are typically OK to restore to any LIKE rom (sense or ASOP)
Restore like sms messages, bluetooth, wireless, etc.
Don't restore the red stuff.
Ok I will try some of those suggestions.

GQ- I feel your pain. I only just recently started flashing roms and I experienced the exact problem you described.
I went from stock to CM6.1 At first it was nice and fast. After I did the batch Titanium restore it started to get really laggy!
Like someone suggested don't restore important system related stuff (such as system settings) I actually ended up using MyBackUp Pro because it seemed to restore with less stability issues.
Another good idea IMO is to d/l a screen saver app. You can find them in the market. Take a pic of each of your home screens so that you can copy them exactly when you flash your new ROM. Just a lil something I personally do...
Does titanium not work well with an Apps2Sd?

I'm very anal about my home screen and have it set up the same way regardless of what ROM I use. It's easy for me to remember because I prefer using 3 screens. I just notice lag when scrolling through my apps or random force closes on apps I use often. Like you mentioned before I only do a batch backup of installed apps and then I restore apps + data only (not system data).
The mistake I was probably making was having the restore overwrite the newer/existing versions of the same app that came with the ROM I just flashed.
I have noticed when I do a titanium full batch app & all data restore my emails will not auto sync. I have to open and refresh to get it to work.
I've been reading that we should not use Titanium Backup to migrate our apps & data to Jelly Bean.
However, my GF has several games where she has spent tons of time and has lots of progress and doesn't want to start over (ie, Smurfs, Sims Free Play, etc)
What's the best migrate path that will move our data over to JB and not cause any issues?
Yeah that's serious issue, my GF plays Smurfvillage too and she doesn't know how to transfer her progress either.
Well she is stuck with my old Nexus One anyway, so she isn't going anywhere
TiBu plays nice for the majority of apps and data, it's just not keen on modifying or removing /system apps.
All my data moved over fine, no problems so far. I'm sure by the time you think about moving over, the app would of been updated anyway.
I seem to be the minority here...
But I used JB for two days with absolutely no problems.
Titanium restored everything just fine :good:.
I also had no problems nandroid restoring back onto AOKP when I was done derping about with JB.
I'd recommend adb pulling your /data/media portion after nandroiding.
Just in case you run into the issues many are reporting.

There are no issues with restoring apps using Titanium Backup. The issues people were having have to do with freezing or uninstalling system apps.

An issue which Rom Toolbox seems to take care of quite nicely on Jelly Bean (tested personally by me!)
Looks like the best course of action is to do an ADB app backup and wait until TiBu updates to JB.
Thanks!
same no issues with tibu

It was already mentioned that there are NO issues with backup/restore in Titanium Backup.
Only my contact list has lost some entries, evererything else perfect!
I'm looking for a rom with NO phone or google apps.
Stripped down to just the OS and Play Store
I want to use the phone as a video recording device and looking for a slim down setup.
thanks
There's lots of trouble without certain Google things.
But, you can root. Get titanium backup and freeze Google apps. ONLY the obvious ones, nothing system related. Or you'll be in a mess.
I don't even know if phone can be frozen. I kinda doubt it.
But....you can use a launcher, like Nova and get rid of all the icons you don't wanna see. And hide them from app drawer too.
That's about all you can do.
After updating to miui.8.2.1 stable rom, the third party apps like pics art, photo director, mx player, and even the mi store app are force closing without my involvement (collapsing).
I dont know what to do
Please resolve my problem
Hi, I've experienced this too. I even had a full reboot when using Google Photos. Try clearing the app data for each app that has a problem and see if that helps.
i have the same problem, it stops back ground processes which some times is really annoying and i can't make an exception
Yeah! I Experienced same problem. After Flashing clean MIUI Rom When i opened some apps force closed but after i reopened them apps started smoothly. I would suggest just close app from task manager and then reopen. Hope it will work for you.
Ok I flashed a stock ruu.zip and restored full stock firmware
I have never seen this phone so smooth and fast
but...as I restored my apps with titanium backup everything was just as always.....scrolling doesn't feel 60fps, and I have a trained eye (play at 75hz on pc)
I always had this feeling of titanium f+k!ng up the rom, but this time is too obvious.
so, is there any alternative app for just user app backup/restore? something decent, updated and that just works
I restored 20 apps, I don't think that the problem is app quantity...or root itself
Thank you for your attention
I doubt that TiBu is the culprit. What might be happening is that you are experiencing corruption or issues related to migrating data from ROM versions using the wrong method, which is why TiBu offers different methods (XML vs 'snapshot') of backup and restore. I'm not sure from a technical standpoint why that would possibly affect your performance - perhaps someone else can explain, but I've never noticed any issue with TiBu at all.
Thank you very much for your comment
I have always kept backups not only changing roms, but also phones
For example. these backups are partially from nexus 5x and m9
Which method should I use to ensure a decent compatibility?
I've never had an issue with titanium either changing rooms from sense to aosp and back and phones. I would install one thing at a time and reboot after each install to figure out which package is causing the lag. Sounds tedious but it's the only way to figure where your issue is
I'm going to flash stock back and use titanium just for few necessary apps
let's see if I'm crazy or not
anyway, I think that mine is a very small problem that not anyone would notice....these stutters are veeery very small
