Write speed to MicroSD - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I want to buy a really fast MicroSD card to the phone. But is it worth it? What is your write speed? I looking at SanDisk 64gb Ultra or the Extreme. What you say?

I know this is an old thread but it came up on Google when i was searching for an SDXC card. I just upgraded OTA my stock HTC One M8 to android 6.12.710.4. Android Marshmallow allows you to format an SD card as internal. When i formatted my lexar card the device gave me a warning and said that the sdxc UHC-1 card i currently had in the device was too slow, would cause image jittering and not suitable for high-spec gaming.
I bought the sandisk ultra plus 64GB HUC-1 class U3 and it apppears to be fast. The read/write speeds independently tested were 80 and 60 read/write respectively. This is fast enough for games like NOVA 3, Asphalt 8 airborne and Modern Combat 5

Sorry for off topic, 6.12.710.4 which variant is this and the CID?

Yes, off topic and random. Why do you ask?
"710" is CID HTC__039 & VODAP021
CIDs for most of the version numbers can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/help/tutorial-how-to-stock-stock-twrp-t3086860

Just upgraded my SD-Card.. Wow!

Just got a 16GB Patriot class 4. I just benchmarked it and really performs like a 6. I'm not sure if it's a placebo effect, but everything I run is alot more snappy. My old card was almost full, maybe that's the reason? Would it really benefit running higher class cards on the Evo?
I have been VERY happy with the Wintec 16GB Class 10 card I got from Fry's...
Same here, loving my card.

128GB micro sd memory card

Hi, does anyone know when microsd 64GB memory card will be in the market?
I'm assuming from the title you wanna know when a 128 sd card will be released as far as I know the galaxy s3 only supports cards up to 64gb (someone feel free to correct me) and they're out now.

Android support memory card up to 2TB (2000GB) so 128 GB is no problem for SGS 3

128GB cards will work, as to when they'll hit the market who knows. I'm hoping no later than October-ish this year, which would be one year after the 64GB cards. I will get one at release regardless of cost and confirm they are working in various handsets for everyone. Cannot come soon enough for me, had my 64GB since a few days after they were released and just not adequate for my needs.
The Galaxy SII Skyrocket is only rated to handle a 32GB microSD card, but easily works w/64GB microSD cards also.
So I'd be willing to bet the SIII would do just fine with a 128GB card.
My wallet on the other hand... :silly:
btw these new emoticons kinda suck.

sgs3 supports sdxc, which supports storage sizes up to 2TB. 64GB just happens to be the largest sd card you can get in the market right now.
Any News on a Faster 64bd card than the class 10 ?
Thanks

class 10 refer to minimum speed so anything above is still classified as class 10, although transcend has released a class 16, but that not official, according the the SDA, class 10 is the highest.

uhs is only supported if the card reader supports this feature, sandisk also mention about this.
you can still use the same card in a non uhs compliant reader, but will only get the class 10 specification and speed.

It would be handy for people that want to play blurays either on their phone or through the HDMI out. Or for audiophiles that listen to lossless audio which takes up around 10 times the storage (which sound absolutely AMAZING with the wolfson DAC and voodoo). Or maybe they just want to never run out of storage?
A 32 gb card will only hold around 100-150 lossless songs, and an avg size mp3 you could have around 1000-1500. A HQ bluray rip avg size is around 8gb, which can only be played on SDXC because regular cards aren't formatted to allow playback of files over 4gb.

Hmmm, I could have sworn that I replied earlier. I wonder if I post in the wrong thread.
Anyway, I am using the Sandisk 64GB class 10 micro SD. Here's the one that I use: http://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Mobile-MicroSDXC-Memory-Adapter/dp/B005V7WIA2
If you're using stock kernel, it should work as is. If not, you'll need to ensure that it's either formatted as exFAT or FAT32.

I haven't notice anything yet, but I don't have any to compare with though. As far as I know, it only matter if you're using memory card for DSLR burst mode picture, other than that, it shouldn't matter much, but I might be wrong. But for the phone usage, I haven't quite notice anything yet. I did install System Tuner and adjusted the SD cache size to 2 MB which seemed to also help a lot.

That's good to know. I personally haven't feel any slowness, but maybe I'm not using it a heavy as I thought. I mostly use it to play music, take pictures, shoot small videos, etc.

I would be hesitant to spend so much money on a 64gb card when flash memory has such a high failure rate. You can't trust flash memory. Always always always have recent backups. If I didn't make myself clear, always have current backups.

[PRO] anyone using class 10 micro SD card in Xperia PRO?

Is anyone using a class 10 micro SD card on Xperia PRO?..
I'm interested in knowing if there's any significant improvement in performance and user experience... specially for installing apps in a second partition of the SD card (I use link2sd, but any other alternative should be a good reference)...
Also, please state what ROM you are using and what's your experience.
Thanks in advance!.

Issues with external microsd

Hello, I am experiencing some issues with an external microsd (Sandisk Extreme Sdxc 64 GB UHS-I class speed 3). After some time the microsd "disappears" as if it was unmounted, and I am forced to restart the phone to gain access to it.
I have tried to replace the microsd with a Samsung Evo 32 GB, and so far I got no problems, so are there any compatibility problems between the Sandisk one and the Zenfone 2?
Not having any issues with a 128GB Lexar. Perhaps your 64Gb is failing?

128GB? I believed (as the manual reports), that only SDXC up to 64 GB were supported by the Zenfone 2.
However, no, the same microsd is working correctly on another smartphone (Acer Liquid E2), so it seems a compatibility problem with Zenfone 2.
I can confirm it works with SanDisk Extreme 128Gb and the Lexar 633x 128Gb SDXC cards.
I was having a similar issue with a "Sandisk" 64 GB card until I found this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=730285
Tried both the Android app "SD Insight" and the MS exe write/test and discoverd that my Sandisk was not at all genuine....

Mne has been bought directly from Amazon, so it should be genuine, however I will test it according to your suggestions.
Ok, I have tested my microsd with H2testw, ant it seems ok:
Warning: Only 60901 of 60902 MByte tested.
Test finished without errors.
You can now delete the test files *.h2w or verify them again.
Writing speed: 30.8 MByte/s
Reading speed: 35.7 MByte/s
H2testw v1.4
I will then test it also with SD Insight

May I ask you which model do you have (550 or 551 ML), how much ram in your model, the version of your firmware, and a picture of your Sandisk Extreme microsd?
Thanks in advance
Did you format the card on Zenfone 2?
Sometimes doesn't matter, but I always format initially whenever I stick in a new card (from different cameras to different cell phones). Just to rule out any problems.

Ok, thanks a lot. Both of them are UHS-I class 1 (U1) according to the classification here:

Mine is UHS-I class 3 (U3), maybe this could be at the origin of this issue, even if it doesn't convince me a lot.

I have a Samsung 128gb sd card in one Zenfone 2 and a 64gb Samsung sd card in my spare. Never had a problem... Haven't yet tried the 200gb Sandisk but that is for another tablet anyways...
Have tried kingston 64gb and 128gb lexmark with both working fine...
