Hi, does anyone know when microsd 64GB memory card will be in the market?
I'm assuming from the title you wanna know when a 128 sd card will be released as far as I know the galaxy s3 only supports cards up to 64gb (someone feel free to correct me) and they're out now.

Android support memory card up to 2TB (2000GB) so 128 GB is no problem for SGS 3

128GB cards will work, as to when they'll hit the market who knows. I'm hoping no later than October-ish this year, which would be one year after the 64GB cards. I will get one at release regardless of cost and confirm they are working in various handsets for everyone. Cannot come soon enough for me, had my 64GB since a few days after they were released and just not adequate for my needs.
The Galaxy SII Skyrocket is only rated to handle a 32GB microSD card, but easily works w/64GB microSD cards also.
So I'd be willing to bet the SIII would do just fine with a 128GB card.
My wallet on the other hand... :silly:
btw these new emoticons kinda suck.

sgs3 supports sdxc, which supports storage sizes up to 2TB. 64GB just happens to be the largest sd card you can get in the market right now.
Any News on a Faster 64bd card than the class 10 ?
Thanks

class 10 refer to minimum speed so anything above is still classified as class 10, although transcend has released a class 16, but that not official, according the the SDA, class 10 is the highest.

uhs is only supported if the card reader supports this feature, sandisk also mention about this.
you can still use the same card in a non uhs compliant reader, but will only get the class 10 specification and speed.

It would be handy for people that want to play blurays either on their phone or through the HDMI out. Or for audiophiles that listen to lossless audio which takes up around 10 times the storage (which sound absolutely AMAZING with the wolfson DAC and voodoo). Or maybe they just want to never run out of storage?
A 32 gb card will only hold around 100-150 lossless songs, and an avg size mp3 you could have around 1000-1500. A HQ bluray rip avg size is around 8gb, which can only be played on SDXC because regular cards aren't formatted to allow playback of files over 4gb.

The benefit would probably be in it being able to keep up with HD video recording, and decreased time scanning the microsdhc card when booting up, or mounting or unmounting it.
Yet, the bigger the card and more data would slow down the scanning. Double edge sword.

Maybe. I depends on how many files it has to catalog. I imagine that a 32GB microsd with 10 2.3GB movies would scan much faster than a 8GB card filled with mp3s
Have you noticed that the card makers are going away from what the Class system is supposed to be. Look at the transfer rates of the Class 4 cards now and they are equal or better than some of the class 10 cards. Doesn't make sense to me, but maybe people didn't understand the Class system and its relationship to transfer rates.
So the Class system is supposed to specify a minimum transfer rate, which increases as the Class goes up.
However, it seems that it is applied arbitrarily by different manufacturers.
Check SD card wiki for more information.
Newegg says they are available
Newegg just notified me that the Patriot 32Gb class 10 micro SDHC is now available. Now it is $99.99.
Newegg also has a Wintec Class 10 32GB for 82.49 - it isn't by Patriot, but it comes with a lifetime warranty.
I have a Wintec 16 gig class 10 in my Vibrant.
Works very well, very snappy performance.
I've never figured out a way to test it in the phone, but thru a adapter on my laptop it hovers around 17-18 meg thruput both read and write.
(edit) BTW, I got it at Frys.
It was 38.99$
Nice price.
Patriot LX 32GB Class 10 benchmarked with SD Tools v1.3
(HTC Desire HD + Android v2.2 rooted)
Oh, by the way, about the SD Class system, it only rate the minimum sustained write speed of the card, but not for random writes.
Wow. That's pretty awful if the benchmark is to be believed.
i have a scandisk class 4 32gb , it has a write speed of 4.8 and a read 11.4
Semi-related, I have a patriot 8gb class 10 card that is holding up very well, including quick transfers. Patriot seems to be pretty good stuff, so I'm considering getting a 16 and passing the 8 down to my girlfriend. I don't think I could find a need for 48GB on the phone, except to hold backups for reflashing.
so, which would be the best, most stable class 10 micro sdhc card? i can't seem to find a definitive answer, as everyone seems to complain about the cards not being a "true class 10", etc. there are only a few reviews on newegg,
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ... 600006235 600082443&IsNodeId=1&name=Class 10
and amazon, a bunch of people complain about the speed ratings mot being true.
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_s...32gb+micro+sd+class+10&ie=UTF8&qid=1318260310
which one do you guys have experience with, and would recommend? the kingstons are just out of the question, as i doubt that they'd be worth twice the coin.
It would be nice if you narrow it down to specific cards.
Although there is to note that most people do not need anything past a class 4 which is more than enough to handle day to day transfer between phone and card.
Sandisk seems to be a darkhorse here since they don't really show you a class number and it ranges from 2 - 6 mbps. The best way is to simply test it out with a SD card testing program.
thanks for the response. specifically, i like the PNY and SanDisk, but like you said, sandisk is secretive about their speeds. i don't want to buy, test the speeds, and return if i'm not happy with it. and is class 10 not required for recording HD video on our phones? thanks again
nah, class 10 is not required to record HD video. besides if i remember correctly, the dz only records up to 720p. you should still be fine unless you're shooting a 20 minute video.
There are some reports from people with various issues with Class 10 cards. Its not widespread by any means (plenty of people here seem fine with their Class 10), but it seems that Class 10 have more issues than lower Classes. So some here will recommend Class 4 or 6 (can't remember which) as the highest you should get.
I'd stay far away from PNY if I were you. I've owned 2 PNY products. Not Micro-SD, but an SD card and a USB thumb drive. On the thumb drive, the USB port and memory chip pulled/broke right out of the plastic casing with regular use (not damaged in any way). The thing just looked and felt flimsy. But I needed one in a hurry for a business trip, and I bought what the store had. I figured, its a USB thumb drive, you can get these things for free. How bad can it be? And I was shocked when the thing actually broke apart after a few weeks.
Similarly, the PNY SD card I have split into 2 pieces (along its seams). In both cases (PNY thumb drive and SD card), the memory chip itself still worked fine, and it was just a matter of using some super glue to hold together the plastic casing that failed. But it just displays shoddy and cheap build quality. I own 3 Sandisk Micro-SD cards, and a couple Sandisk SD cards and thumb drives. Never had an issue with any of them, and build quality is much better than PNY.
There is a long thread in accessories with SD recommendations:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1042324
DUDE! I had the same problem with the PNY thumb-drive! It was the attache series I think. Anyways yea stick to well known brands that are consistently rated high, sandisk, kingston, adata, etc. Honestly though, class 6 would probably be the fastest you'd need unless your gonna be taking extremely high quality pictures at a very fast speed lol aka multi-shot. But then again I'm not sure our phone is even up too that anyways lol.
I have an ADATA 16GB Class 10 from newegg. Has given me zero issues. I would imagine this is probably the same for the 32gb version.
Not sure if the 32GB would hold up. I found out that I'm not that big of a packrat on the size of the SDcard, so I went with a 16gb instead of paying more for space I'd never use, or take years to accumulate.
h2testw 1.4 log after testing it out when I received it:
Warning: Only 15786 of 15787 MByte tested.
Writing speed: 15.1 MByte/s
Reading speed: 18.5 MByte/s
It was definitely a step up from the 4GB class 4 kingston I was previously using, which was getting write speeds of around 5-6mb/sec. After moving onto the Adata, I noticed speedier loading in the photo gallery like night and day. It used to take 2-3 seconds to load the gallery, especially if it was a big picture folder. Now it takes literally milliseconds to load the content. Of course, this may just be anecdotal and placebo effect, but my general experience with android and sdcards for the last 3 years is on the line about it.
actually i retract the kingston comment, i think they had problems with 32gb class 10 cards specifically now that i recall...

I'm thinking of getting a class 4 myself, don't feel like paying almost +100% for class 10. I'll probably get an A-Data, as it gives a decent price per GB. I'm just torn between 16 and 32 GB
As for Kingston, I think the quality of their products went down a lot in the last two years.

IMO higher class cards are better when your doing photography and video stuff
I read my card more often than write to it so a lower class card with better read speeds is better for me.

your screenshot is showing your internal memory test. If you want to test external memory then you have to pick /sdcard/external_sd instead.
To respond to OP: I got mine from Amazon, cost me 54 EUR for SanDisk UHS class1, class 10, XC I 64gb. 32gb Sammy MicroSD HC class 10 is performing a bit better for me (just a slight bit) but lacks the space, and SanDisk one is performing as a beauty here.
ps: if in need of my screens for test on Sandisk, let me know.
Is it worth getting a 64gb card for sg2?
I ask as I've seen many reviews tgat say data can be wiped as it's not suitable.
I'm in the market for a card though can't decide if 64gb would be overkill, but at same time would negate deleting old files vids etc I may need later...
Sandisk seems the way to go, any thoughts?

Depends on your need for storage space. I had 12Gb of music on 32GB one and photos and vids just zeroed it, let alone apps/games on it. I have no problem with 64GB now. I guess, it's each to his own. And if it is going to be self_wiped, then it will be my loss there, but I don't see any problem at this time, nor my microsd performs bad or has glitches.
Having SanDisk only for a month now, I can say I'm pleased how it's performing in terms of speed and stability. I can't predict what comes next but I never had any microsd breaking on me, or any problems in the past (had from 2 t o64GB microsd from SanDisk, Samsung etc... over 4 years time span).
Hope this helps a bit.

your screenshot is showing your internal memory test. If you want to test external memory then you have to pick /sdcard/external_sd instead.
To respond to OP: I got mine from Amazon, cost me 54 EUR for SanDisk UHS class1, class 10, XC I 64gb. 32gb Sammy MicroSD HC class 10 is performing a bit better for me (just a slight bit) but lacks the space, and SanDisk one is performing as a beauty here.
ps: if in need of my screens for test on Sandisk, let me know.

if u redead hes post he says hes on the galaxy s2 its different then from the galaxy s3 where the internal is set as Sdcard and external is set at extsdcard, the Gs2 didnt have that issue so hes screen shot is corrent.

Owner of SGS2 here (visible in my sig.): If you pick /sdcard on SGS2 it's measuring internal storage (16GB one), if you change it to /sdcard/external_sd, then it's testing external microsd card. Dunno what SGS3 does and what not, it's on ICS as a base...
Got an Sandisk Micro SDXC with 64 GB and its working in my HTC HD2 and my Galaxy S2, too. But I got it formatted with FAT32 don`t know if Ex-Fat is working. Price was 58 Euro in Germany 1/4 year ago. Im on German 4.0.4 Stock Rom without Root.

I just bought a sandisk 64gb sdxc. Can't wait for it to be delivered!!! $60 AUD on Shoppingsquare, which i think is good value
And now for my 2cents worth:
Is 64gb an overkill?
Yes, but that's what I said about my 16gb card 2 years ago, and now I have no space.
Besides, i envisage apps, music, videos to get bigger as it gets better in quality.
e.g. with 64gb i can afford to have lossless audio.
Also, I have now in my room, 1gb, 2gb, 4gb, 8gb micro sd card.
I probably would have spent less money if I upgrade to a much higher capacity each time.
not to mention they are now just sitting there being wasted.
Usb adapters, lik SanDisk one, FTW / then you have a "switchable" USB key...
I don't have any wasted microSDs at all, but still has 2 x 4gb, 1 x 8 gb and 1 x 16gb micros's...
Gonna put in an order for one of these. Thanks for advice!
nice!

Hi,
Storage media of any type does not 'self-zero' itself. When it is full it stops you from writing data. Think about it: Would Sandisk still be in business if it did?
A likely reason your Sd card are self-zero'ing is because you bought a counterfeit card from a shop like Amazon or Ebay.
This is very common.
What happens? The fraudster buys cheaper 4 Gb SD Cards. He then modified the SD card firmware so that it reports to the operating system that the card is actually 32Gb. The O/S formats the card (typically a quick format by writing a few blocks at the start of the card) and you start coping the data across. Regretfully when you cross the 4 Gb limit of the card you end up writing no where. Seems that the data is simply zeroed or another error appears.
There are numerous of reports about this on Amazon.
Solution:
Don't buy SD cards from Ebay.
If you buy from Amazon then ensure that you buy from Amazon and not the Amazon MarketPlace.
Finally: If it is too cheap, then there may well be something amiss ;P
Also, I have now in my room, 1gb, 2gb, 4gb, 8gb micro sd card.

Problem
i buy de sandisk 64gb and when i tranfer files from mi pc to the sd card i got slow tranfer speeds (around 5-6 mb/s). The sd is in fat32 that possibily affects the perfomance?, when i do sd speed test from the play store i got 13mb/s write and 30mb/s read.
Also i cant achive mounting correctly on ntfs with the app from the marquet ntfs mounter which is in xda
someone pass something like this?

64Gb SanDisk works fine on mine, though I'm not on Cmiui, I'm on Sensation 4.1 flavor now, it's ICS 4.04 based (was on GB 2.3.6 before), 32GB Samsung one works flawlesly on my kid's SGS2 and any other older microSd we have works. Other then that, all my old microSd's are workign OK with adapters and such
No waste for me
Got my 64gb and it worked fine with cmiui and now with resurrection remix ! Thanks for your help and reply.

Does anyone know if the new 128GB SanDisk Extreme SDXC Class 10 works with the Galaxy S3?
They're selling them at Amazon and I was wondering if it worked with the S3 before I bought it.
holy crap man, what do u need that much memory for ?! i only have the 32gb , i think the max tested was 64 but im not sure.

I have 8gb of music on my phone currently, and about 250gb of movies on my external HDD with 400gb of TV series on top of that. Of course I don't watch all of these, they're mostly there just for collection, but there are some series that I do like watching in my spare time and the more options the better, right? I also want some spare memory space just in case I want to record video on my phone too. I was thinking about getting the 64GB SDXC but if the 128GB version works I will definitely be buying that.
now don't quote me on this, though it should work - I don't see why it wouldn't, since the S3 supports SDXC (and the 128GB is SDXC).

I can't post links yet because the forums does not permit me to.
Just search on google : "128GB SDXC SanDisk Class 10 Amazon". Should be the first link.

Oh wow I feel like a dumbass XD
I didn't realize it didn't say microSDXC. But if a 128GB microSDXC is to be released, would it work with the S3?

Most likely.. But we won't see a card that big this year.. And when it is released you are probably looking at close to 100 price tag.

From my understanding, the galaxy s 3 only supports the micro sd sdxc up to 64gb.
But you never know it might just work.
Though, than again, there might be a reason why samsung capped it at 64. Maybe above that, it's
easier for data to be lost and or corrupt? (Just speculation and not a fact)

or it could just be that at this point in time, 128GB micro-SDXC cards don't exist.

Is sdxd same as mini sd?Does it fit in our phone or hooked up through usb?

The term sdxc means extended capacity and has nothing to do with the physical size of the card itself.
Sdxc can be in sd size (think cameras), micro sd(our phones) and mini sd (not really used anymore)
I think the xc would start at 32gb and up. So anything 32gb or higher would be sdxc
For your phone you want a microsd.. Weather a sd, sdhc or sdxc.
As long as it's a microsd....
Google images for it so you can see what the card should look like.

Not sure if that was a hidden dart of sarcasim, but I was obviously refering to when the 128gb micro sd card becomes available as I know they aren't yet.
My guess is the phone manufactures do set limits on paper but actually have their devices capable and ready to accept (such as in this case) bigger sd cards.
I've seen this before, for example, the GALAXY SII micro sd memory acceptance was capped at a max of 32gb, but in reality was and is able to accept a 64gb micro sd card!
Well, I hope that when the 128gb micro sd card is finally released (which is just around the corner) it'll work with the GS3.
A guy can dream-----eh (*_*)
Android itself supports up to 2tb, the limitation is the sd card hardware, on cheap phones they only work with max. 16 for example.
Send from my GT-I9300 with Tapatalk
most limits (in the same hardware/tech class) are limits of TESTING not limits of COMPATIBILITY
a long time ago they designed for specific sizes but now a days they design for "class" of tech.
ie Fat16 is limited to fat 16 fat 32 is limited to fat 32 etc.. etc..
SO as long as its SDXC in theory it "should" work unless they for some reason Coded in a limit (not likely)
they say 64gb because that is what they could "test" at the time that they made the unit.
sorry
