Status Bar not expanding + Volume Buttons not working + Shutdown menu glitchy - Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) Q&A, Help & Troubl

I've got some big problems:
Since a full initial recovery (like a hard reset) over Samsung Kies (also tested with stock rom and Odin) and after the problems were still there i wiped everything over a a custom recovery and tried that procedures again, I've got the following symptoms:
- i cant swype down the status bar in all rotated screen directions. The touch panel is working in that area in other applications
- rotation animation is disabled
- volume buttons not longer controlling the volume and the volume control menu doesn't appear (volume buttons without reaction)
- the shutdown menu is looking glitchy (see screenshot) and yes and no buttons are changed (yes = no; no = yes)
- screen is shutting down when i move the device. i deactivated all special controls like smart stay, but problem is still there
everything else is working!
i also tried some custom roms, but the problems are still there.
is that problem known? any fix for that?
it doesnt matter if the device is rooted or not, the problems are always there.

i found the reason why that problems appears:
i disabled all movement-, eye- or other specialcontrols and that didn't work like i said in the fist post.
thats why i wondered so much about that problem.
i am using a book-cover and i throw the frontcover always in the back of the device to hold it in my hands or lay it down on a table.
now i noticed there is a magnet inside and if i flip it backside, the display is shutting down and the volume-controls are blocked. also the powerbutton will only show that glitchy construction as shown in the picture, not to forget about that the status bar will not expand and that the display is turning off when you move the tablet.
if i open the book cover, so that the magnet doesn't reach the sensitive area of the tablet (where the camera is and a little bit more down to the middle), everything is working like on the first day.
also shutdown menu is looking normal!
weird. i thought i could deactivate all that crappy functions. now i am forced to use the cover wide opened or as a stand. no chance to use it comfortable in a slimmer war to use it with my hands.
i removed the magnet now and fixed this problem one and for all.
so if anyone is experiencing that problem, remove your tablet from the cover and test again

Cab or other way to disable Screen Align??

Seems the TP2 also has a "grip of death" of sorts. Basically if you hit the Volume Buttons on the side of the devise and touch the screen, it automatically activates the Screen align util and until you complete the Screen align to the devices satisfaction, You are stuck there.
Basically this translates to any time you use the Volume Buttons while holding the phone to your face, It activates the Screen Align Util. (At least that is what happens to me about 10 times a day)
Does anyone know of a way to deactivate this "Feature/Major Annoyance"?
Thanks
mine does not do this. i suspect something is wrong with your device.
This also does not happen with my phone, just tested it out. Even called myself at work. Are you using a cooked ROM or stock? I am using stock ROM from AT&T
Try again. Hit both Volume Buttons (Simultaneously) on the side of the phone and tap the screen, It will start up the align screen until every time. I have verified that this VZN and Sprint TP2`s. It may be a CDMA thing but this feature is designed into the phone (And it sucks!).
Anyone know of a way to disable this?
mine does that from time to time, but I never figured out what causes it, but, you are right it is ANNOYING when it happens.
Cooked rom, if it makes any difference.
Hi all,
Confirmed on UK TP2 - stock WM6.5 ROM, no special apps etc installed. Had to soft reset to get out from a mixed screen align/text message app screen.
No looping align screen after reset - but annoying. Best suggestion (without being sarcastic!) - don't press both volume buttons at once, seems to be a way into a "fix the problem" mode for those with grossly un-aligned screens. How else could you get into align screen to fix the problem? ... aka "feature not a bug".
adam.
both volum buttons?
under what scenario are you hitting both volum buttons at the same time, with enough force to depress them, and touching the screen? I tried doing this on purpose and its almost impossible to do with intention much less on accident. you would have to be gripping your phone with massive, angry, force. maybe the fix is to stop talking to whomever it is that is pissing you off.
in anycase, i still could not get this replicated on the tmobile tp2. of course i am using the fastest and most stable rom provided for this phone: stock wm 6.1 with tf3d. so maybe its a feature of 6.5.x and some rendition of sense 2.x
Hold the Phone in your left hand. In my case my Thumb naturally rests on the Volume Buttons. My Thumb covers both Volume buttons. Now if I get a call and the phone against my Face and I attempt to adjust the volume with my Thumb (By rocking my Thumb up or down), Sometimes I manage to accidentally hit both. If that happens, The Screen align will start up every time because the screen is already touching my face.
I have talked with many other TP2 owners that have this same problems however they did not know what was causing it. All they knew was the Screen align kept starting up randomly.
Back to.. Is it possible to disable this? Maybe even assign a different key combination to start the screen align util such as Vol Down and endcall or something. It is too easy to accidentally press both volume buttons if you are on a call. If you do that while the phone is touching your face, the screen align will start and the phone is now locked until you get out the stylus and go through the realign.

Nexus 7 rotation stuck

Hi all, my Nexus has an issue with the rotation of the screen. I've done some googling and downloaded the check my android app. The sensors missing are 1, 3 and 5. I have tried the following:
1. Factory reset the device
2. Attempted the pressure press on the 'n' and 's'
3. Opened the tablet and tried the tape and cardboard fix
4. Reseated the cable that I understand controls the orientation
I've done extensive research on the problem but no luck.
None of these options worked. I have contacted Asus but I'm pretty sure my warranty is up. How can I fix this please?
Hi,
Temporary solution for me: reboot in safe mode and test if orientation sensor works. If it does, reboot again in normal mode and you'll be fine ... But only for some time, as in a day or two rotation failed again.
To boot into safe mode, long press power button until power off message appears on screen, then long press button on screen until boot to safe mode button appears.
Hope it helps!
My n7 does that as well,
Truthfully All I do to fix it is (yes restart but that is annoying), just rotate it to where you want it, and give it a firm, but soft tap along the side of the device.
I found it wakes up the sensors and allows them to operate again
Hope this helps
Hi. It's a fairly common issue with our Nexus7.
My rotation sometimes get stuck also, so i installed an app called "Adaptive Rotation Lock" and problem solved.
So I've tried the safe mode, no good. I also tried the soft tap, no good. Even using adaptive rotation lock does not work. I'm thinking this is a hardware issue. l will have to call ASUS as the email support was complete ****. Thanks for the help all the same.
Assuming you do not have the rotation lock setting enabled I think I have a solution for you.
I had this same issue and I literally tried for 3 months trying to fix it. I finally found some obscure website with a fix. It involved opening up your tablet and basically "securing" one of the cables. After I did that I have not had a rotation problem anymore.
http://blog.daum.net/enue81/2
I seen that in my travels and tried to implement the same fixes, as it is in Chinese or something similar I tried to interpret what he did.
I used black electrical tape to secure the cable ends, then used a similar tape to secure the cable down, unfortunately that didn't work but there's every chance I did it wrong.
Can you please explain what you used?
I've also tried following these two youtube videos:
I didn't use anything. I just basically "pushed" the cables in more even though they did not appear to be loose or anything. It definitely did the trick. YMMV though.

Keyboard / Touchscreen (?) Double Tap Problem - please help!!

I've been experiencing a weird issue with every keyboard app I've tried, and I would appreciate some help.
This problem started occurring only after the most recent updates. About 90% of the time that I hit the space bar on the keyboard, it registers as a double tap inserting two spaces. The phone vibrates 2x in rapid succession to indicate that two touches are being registered.
This also happens when I hold the space bar down, except the two phone vibrations are a little further apart when I hold the space bar down. This prevents me from being able to long tap the space bar (switch between language input). No other keys / apps appear to behave this way. I've tried the dialer touchscreen FW update trick as well with no success.
It's been a pain to type anything on my phone and any help would be awesome.

Replying to my own thread here. I think I found a fix (at least for now).
I spoke with Samsung / T-Mobile service and I was able to rule out this being a software issue. I took off my screen protector and the problem still persisted, so it wasn't a screen protector issue. I then took off my case, pressed down firmly on the affected area of the screen, squeezed the top and bottom of the phone firmly together, and squeezed the sides/edges of the phone together firmly around the affected area. I have not been able to reproduce the double tapping issue since.
My best guess is that this might have been a physical issue having to do with the curved shape of the screen?
I think the mods can close this one down. Thanks.
**NEVERMIND - the issue is back. Anyone?**

Samsung Note 2 unresponsive problem.

I've recently got out my note 2 & wiped it to give to my son to use for playing games on & so forth. But during setting it up, I've noticed a really annoying problem I can figure out. Randomly the phone goes unresponsive. Nothing I tap on the screen reacts, the back & menu buttons don't respond. The only thing that does respond is the home button & the volume +/-. The only way I can regain control of the phone again is if I quickly press the power button to turn the screen of & then back on again.
This seem's to happen more when I get pop up's prompting input like passwords & so forth. Does anyone know how to fix this or what might be causing it? I've factory reset & it uses stock rom. This was happening before I rooted & also since rooting & having removed usual bloatware from the phone.
Thanks in advance!
I would like to add that the glass cover was recently replaced. Would this cause the problem? The only adhesive was around the edges. None of that silicon UV glue you put over the screen & cure uder a UV light. Would this be why or just a poor quality glass screen cover? Some input from someone would be nice!
it doesn't seem to be hardware related issue, i suggest you download the latest stock ROM for your phone and flash it via Odin, no need to wipe, and if that doesn't fix it, then it must be an app installed on the phone.
try flashing the ROM first.

Problem with notification bar pullong down randomly

Hey there
Had the phone since release
Started with this problem yesterday. It's random, the notification bar pulls down and pulls back up within a second. Sometimes it doesn't release, I have to press power button to enable me to use the phone.
I switched on "show taps" in developer options, and it appears to be a screen press from the top centre of the phone. Only from there.
I've tried replacing the screen protector, tried cleaning the phone, power cycles... I've not tried a factory reset at this point, would need to back everything up.
On 8.1
I'm at my wits end
Thanks in advance
Do you have a case installed? Sometimes phone cases trigger phantom touches on the display.
I do, since day one.
Took it off and still get same problem
I'd use a screen capture app to show the phantom touches that's keeping you from releasing the notification bar and contact Support at this point. But yeah, you should begin backing up your data.
try to use the developer menu -> show touches and see if it's software or hardware related
....actually i have been getting random, backspaces key presses.....i am typing away, and than I will sense the "phantom" key press the backspace, and look as my message get completely deleted. Never happened before, same case/same screen protector from DAY1....I just restart my phone, but still wear. happened twice since OREO update
Boot into safe mode and then turn off and start up.
Fixed my menu bar issues.
