hi,
Today i cracked my galaxy nexus screen and only a small portion of the screen is responsive.
I want to back up my files but I need the phone to be on for that.
The phone is turned off and in order to even turn it on i need to pass the decryption screen, which i can't of course.
if it's relevant: the phone was never rooted...
any idea that could help?
thanks in advance!

I searched a bit around and couldn't find anything like my problem.
Basically, my screen cracked and blanked out. I can power it on, it'll vibrate when the google logo should come up.
I know the security code, but I can't enter it because the touch screen and display is off.. and that means I can't connect it to my PC to pull all the pictures and files off. It is unlocked, but I don't think I rooted it. I've read I may be able to use adb to do it and copy the SDcard off, but I have no idea how to do it without seeing the screen.
The PC does recognize it though, but it will not let me into the files until the security code is entered. Verizon couldn't help, and I only have 10 days as I have my replacement already. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You can use Galaxy nexus toolkit to pull files from phone while in ADB mode.
(Hold volume down and up and the power buttone while booting)
And another thing you can try what sounds funny is:
connenct your phone with HDMI onto an external screen and then you or use a USB mouse to enable data transfer or now where to touch the broken screen.
sounds funny btw XD
Hey everyone!
So my brother smashed his Galaxy S3 and broke the screen.
Now, we're thinking of listing it on eBay (for parts/repair) but we would need to factory reset it before we can do so.
Question is, how can I do this without a screen?
(The phone still boots up and works fine, but just the screen is completely broken. ie. Doesn't display anything and unresponsive to touch input.)
I tried booting into recovery and pressing the (seemingly) right number of volume up/down presses to factory reset it, but that didn't seem to work.
Oh, and I believe I know it didn't work because the blue LED notification light is flashing, meaning there is an unread email, correct?
Anyways, any other ideas on how to solve this problem?
Thank you very much!

hey guys, i recently bought a gs3 lcd + digitizer on ebay, and when i got it, i installed it right away. After installing it, i turned on the phone the digitizer displayed the boot up, but i noticed that it the boot took wayyy longer than before and after it booted it displayed the lock screen, but then my problem is that the touch doesnt work, the back button works but no touch response at all. help???
So I bought my wife a new Tab Pro 10.1 model. It started doing this immediately out of the box. Screen works fine for a while. After you lock the device and the screen shuts off, it won't come back on. When you unlock the device everything works, except the screen stays black. Digitizer works, you can swipe to unlock, hear unlock sounds, and even the backlight keys work. Screen just stays off. If you hold power and reboot, the samsung logo shows up and all is good again, until you lock the device. I performed a factory reset, and even played with all settings I could think of. I don't want to flash a custom ROM to see if that's it, as I might need to send it in. Any ideas?

Send it back. Definitely.
I have a Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 4, I have the phone encrypted and accidentally broke the screen. The screen is black and when I reboot the phone I can't see the keyboard to type in the encrypted password to unlock phone and boot it.
I need to find a way to retrieve my data on my computer, in other words to get the phone recognized by the computer.
Screen replacement - Will restore the phone to factory mode "Samsung Policy" Which is ridiculous.
Kies/Smart Switch won't work, phone needs to be rebooted with a password to have USB recognized on computer.
Any advice?
In the old days, when an LCD screen lamp went out, you could shine a flash light onto the screen and see stuff. I don't know if it'll work for you, but you might try it. Other than that I have no ideas except a screen replacement.

I was able to backup my data by doing the following:
Buy a OTG USB, power on your phone wait for a couple of minutes to make sure the phone is steady. Connect the OTG to the phone and keyboard.
Entered the encrypt password, phone was unlokced.
Second part to completely unlock it was by using finger print, if you have to re-enter password use the keyboard. Make sure you have a working phone to see the sequence and which part to press on the screen if it is working.

I did this a few phones ago with the same issue. Buy a film screen protector(not glass), put it on a display unit at best buy or a friends phone of the same type, trace the keyboard with a ball point pen. Place the screen protector as close as possible to the way it was traced. Then cross your fingers. Worked pretty easily when I did it.
