Any advice?
Thank you :good::cyclops:

Use Kingo root app. Far easiest method.

I'm assuming you do not have a KNOX firmware installed so that's great for you - do NOT perform any software updates from Samsung!
The best method is still using the original method. Remember to flash the kernel if you are staying with the Samsung rom after the root.

Or if you do not feel up to the slightly more technical challenge then you can use the app as mentioned above

How do I check if KNOX firmware is installed?

Boot into download mode.
If there is a line that shows KNOX in it while in download mode then you have a KNOX firmware.

Great, there is no KNOX! :cyclops::good:
Is there a way to flash newer official firmware without including KNOX any other precautions I should take before rooting and flashing a custom recovery?
Kind Regards

Yes u can flash newer firmware and don`t include Knox bootloader
Read this guide : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2549357

Thank you all for the help!

If I ever flashed firmware with KNOX, does it mean I can never remove KNOX?

For now - yes

KNOX void flag is still tampered!
- delete the old su app, or reflash the stock fw
- get CWM recovery
download this:
http://download.chainfire.eu/372/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.86.zip?retrieve_file=1
reboot into recovery(CWM) and flash it
reboot and start the new superSU app

it will ask (something similar) "KNOX detected do you want to disable?" press yes
now you get root acces
KNOX disable is temporary if you don't dele all knox app from system

Is there a way to remove Knox from the system yet?

I've been waiting since the 4.3 upgrade. Any news?
If it can be put together, it can be taken apart.

Of course knox apps can be removed. Just look at development section of the ND8 ROMs like this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2750674
If you are thinking about the problems with the bootloader...that is a different story. If you update your bootloader and modem you cannot change them to an older bootloader and modem.
Is there a newer boot loader that isn't a Knox boot loader that could replace Knox? I want to be able to use custom roms but Knox is blocking any installation and I don't want to risk bricking. I understand i can install custom firmware if I don't include the boot loader but I don't want to have to worry about all that and just get rid of Knox. Any ideas?

I was speaking more about installing zips through custom recovery

Yep. I've had Knox since I got this phone and have literally flashed thousands of things. The only thing it prevents you from doing is downgrading your firmware through Odin.... And when I say prevent, I mean it bricks your phone.
My ROM: WICKED X
Ill have to experiment with that

You can't have issues due to the bootloader. Your KNOX tripped due to root procedure.
1. Now your Knox warranty is void forever.
2. I wonder how you flashed custom ROM. If you follow the procedure to the letter, you should be able to flash most custom ROMs without a single issue.
3. KITKAT bootloaders FND1, FND3, FNE1, etc can't be downgraded no matter what. Whoever gave you the advice to flash MJ5 on NE1 is an idiot (sorry).
4. I hope this bootloader procedure has not messed up with your internal partitions.
5. Your best chance is with Kies. Try out the following procedure and you might get lucky.
6. Install latest Kies. Under tools looks for the option that says, "Emergency Firmware Recovery". It should do the job, but if it fails, go to the option “Firmware Upgrade and Initialization” (images attached for reference)
7. A prompt should pop up indicating that it will reinitialize to the original factory settings. The process would also reinstall the official Stock ROM into your device. Choose “Ok”.
8. Of course you need Internet connection and bandwidth. Without that your phone is a brick.

[Q] Restore stock recovery without ODIN due to broken usb port

I received the OTA for Lollipop, but I can't install it because I have a custom recovery. I need to install stock recovery, but my USB port is messed up and I can't use ODIN to flash the image. Is there a way to flash stock recovery without using ODIN or the USB port at all? Thanks!

Unfortunately it's not Lollipop, only a security update (still 4.4.2), I don't believe there is any other way.

Couldnt you use Chainfire's mobile odin to flash stock kernel and recovery, triangle away device status to Official, unroot via supersu app, and accept update, along after the update, follow CNexus's guide to re-root without a PC?
Or does the Knox 0x1 bit still prevent you from updating O_O?

Mobile Odin is a bad idea in this instance, high potential to brick you device trying to flash stock that way. I would honestly say spend the $45 and have one of those repair places replace the port
Ah okay, i know it is bad flashing full firmwares through mobile odin. Didnt know itd be bad doing recovery and kernel only.

I have read countless post and have been to a dozen websites and I guess I am just confused if I can root this device with the current status, software/updates and security patches.

Yes, you can.
It requires unlocking the boot loader and installing a custom recovery. There are a few threads about it which makes it somewhat confusing. What it boils down to is do you want to use LL or MM to unlock it and once that is done do you wish to use the stock TW LL/MM or a custom ROM (TW/AOSP based).
Easiest to follow instructions here, uses LL to root:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/no...asy-guide-how-to-root-verizon-galaxy-t3454593
The hybrid way (LL/MM software mix, will require working SIM/Data connection to complete rooting), once done will be full MM based:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/no...t/howto-bootloader-unlock-upgrade-to-t3398144
https://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4-verizon/general/shortcut-to-rooted-n910vvru2cqi2-t3763451
IF you want to run a custom rom, unlock the bootloader as outlined in the links above, install TWRP and then the ROM of your choice (TW/AOSP).
I just did both ways above not too long ago on a new to me 910v, then I ended up using the files from this post on the modified/hybrid way to root:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=76813374&postcount=16
Then I upgraded the partial firmware from here to CQL1:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/devdb/project/?id=15720#downloads
Yes, that means I wiped and rooted all 3 ways linked/described (BPA1, CPD1 & CQI2/CQL1) trying out the files/software. All 3 tries worked fine. I will say for me, Kingoroot worked and kingroot did not. YMMV
Andrew
Thx for all the info and the great news! I guess I thought that the phone might have been updated to far. I will give it a shot. Thanks again.

Hello, I just bought a N910V with same build number as yours. Did you have a chance to see if it can be rooted? (it seems all the instructions say cannot, just want to confirm. Thanks)

Yes I was able to follow the links and downgrade and unlock the bootloader and root and install a custom rom.
