Hello guys! I'm all new to this custom rom thing. So I was running stock 4.3 android on by T-Mobile S3. I saw online that Cyanogenmod is much snappier than Touchwiz, so I downloaded Cyanogenmod Installer and follow the steps. After it finished, it goes past the Samsung Boot screen for like a second and then I get stuck on the Samsung Galaxy S3 screen... Help! I can't use my phone now.

One of the biggest things here is the model number. Do you know if it was the t999 or t999l?

Interesting. I always used the cwm method to install Roms. Can you at least boot into recovery? By the way, there are some great threads that have tutorials to fix soft bricks.

Hey Guys, coming from the Samsung galaxy nexus. Receiving my s4 in a few days.
Just a few question to install twrp:
1.Root using motochopper
2. Install goo manager
3. Install TWRP
4. Funfun
Are those the correct steps? Thanks!

I think unlock bootloader should be in there somewhere.
Isn't tmobile s4 boot loader already unlocked?

2. Goo manager
3. Install TWRP
That's correct right? We don't need to worry about boot loader because its unlocked alrdy. Right? Coming from GN so.. Just making sure.

If u have a custom recovery the status will always say custom. Only flashing back to stock through odin will make it official again.

I'm used to my Galaxy S2 I guess. It never said custom. Tried Odin k0ane's stock file. Still says custom. I thought I was going to have to return the phone. It started using hotspot data for all data. I was almost to my 500 meg limit. A factory reset fixed it and Tmo gave me an extra 2gb hotspot data for this month only for free.

Official is all stock factory system. Custom means you altered the system and your warranty is probably void. That's why people try to flash back to stock if they need to get their phone repaired or replaced.
I see. Coming from the galaxy nexus, so much to learn..
Also, where can I get the samsung USB Drivers to do the motochopper?

Take a look ant the N2 and S3 forums - they have threads on returning to stock and i am sure we will see one here - AS SOON as and only when an official Samsung TMo firmware is available.
If you break or brick your device before then you will have to wait before sending it in to Samsung or TMo.

I can't believe sammobile hasn't gotten the firmwares posted yet. Isn't this unusual? Doesn't Samsung usually release the firmware almost immediately?
Does anyone know why that when I download something to my internal sd card and then boot into twrp and try to install it the file is missing in the download folder. Am I doing something wrong? i'm coming from cwm and things are a lot different. Any help would be great thanks

I just got a note 2 and I would like to know what's the best way to root my device without any problems?
If you just got it then I'm going to assume you don't have any important data!
Flash a stock rom with root injected! It's literally a stock touchwiz 4.1.2 rom with superSU. It always doesn't mess up your counter and you can get official OTAs from T-mobile.
The link is here.
What ungraph said. I ran mrRobinson's injected rom for about 7 months before I ended up on tweaked. It works pretty well.
Hastily spouted for your befuddlement

Hey guys. I'm trying to flash the S4 Revolution rom on my S3 [http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2311671]
I downloaded the rom and put it on my sd card. Went into recovery mode and tried to flash the rom. It wiped all my data but didn't flash the rom. Instead it said "E: signature verification failed" and just rebooted and asked me to setup my phone from scratch with the current rom.The rom that I have now is stock rogers rom pre-rooted jellybean 4.1.1.
What am I doing wrong? I've read something about a "clockwork recovery image," what is that? Please help.

B) unfortunately you won't get any sympathy for not reading up first.

OK. I'm still not sure what that means. But what I did was flash the stock ROM for Rogers 4.1.1 that comes pre-rooted. My next objective is to get the S4 rom on it. I guess I'll just download Rom Manager and install that then save the S4 ROM to the micro sd and flash like that. I wanted to avoid putting it on the micro SD, though.

Who said we'll be getting a new 4.4 update soon? They probably won't release a new update until sometime in May. They will end up delaying it over and over like the previous updates. And 4.4 kit kat will most likely be the last update for S3 devices. Sad, I've been a loyal S3 owner ever since August 2012

I happened to install dandroid too, lol. It's a good rom actually. Cyanogen mixed with touchwiz. But the reason I'm not flashing those other 4.4 roms is because they don't have any of touchwiz's exclusive features. I mean you might as well get a nexus then, it's cheaper and has faster updates.
