Hello all my fellow Xda and I747 AT&T users I had recently had a bad run in with Update 4.3 and its Knox security. I searched and tried and asked for ever method to disable with no luck. Was unable to access recovery or download mode even after rebooting safe mode. Until I found an easier way I went in to setting -application manager and simply disabling Knox before trying to boot into download also cleated data on anything that said Knox- after I used the Odin chainfire root method to root no prob this is what worked for me after 4 weeks of trying and being stuck on laggy 4.3 was like using wife's IPhone ios7. Hope this helps

Yes I know, it's been a big problem ever since. If Samsung keeps this up it will soon become like apple. I like Samsung's features, but if they keep this up, then I'd have no problem switching to maybe Sony's android.
Or not update past 4.4.2 I hear next update will kill root apps

Who said we'll be getting a new 4.4 update soon? They probably won't release a new update until sometime in May. They will end up delaying it over and over like the previous updates. And 4.4 kit kat will most likely be the last update for S3 devices. Sad, I've been a loyal S3 owner ever since August 2012

I happened to install dandroid too, lol. It's a good rom actually. Cyanogen mixed with touchwiz. But the reason I'm not flashing those other 4.4 roms is because they don't have any of touchwiz's exclusive features. I mean you might as well get a nexus then, it's cheaper and has faster updates.
Ya still trying to get xpose to work or it could be me was a pro on my old I777 S2 but all this is still new to me hope to be a "Pro" here soon..

"Good news tonight for AT&T subscribers, as a number of readers are now reporting that Samsung's update to Android 4.1.1 is now available for the Galaxy S III via Kies. We've reached out to the carrier to learn whether any specific improvements are in store, but it's not like we need to tell you that users will be immersed in the goodies of Google Now and the performance enhancements from Project Butter. Word from members of xda-developers reveals that the update weighs in at a substantial 738MB. For those keeping score, AT&T's update to Jelly Bean for the Galaxy S III follows previous deployments from Sprint and T-Mobile..." -Engadget.

You can also use mobile odin pro and enable everroot. If you maintain root, you can use goomanager from the market to install twrp recovery. Seems like there are a number of ways to do this, I just found this the easiest way.
I downloaded from samsungupdates sites and install de .tar file with mobile odin pro... and i kept root sou if u wanna be stock but keeping root i recommend you this way its easy!

Using it on TMobile means that the AT&T servers won't even know it's out there to be updated. Find an AT&T sim card and it should update.

I'm just going by what other people have reported. There have been a few that said they had trouble updating with a TMO sim card in. I haven't updated mine because I'm running stable right now and I'm waiting to see if the developers here can work around this new bootloader. They're having more trouble that usual manipulating Samsung's crap. I've heard it's a good update (smooth running, etc) but it's nearly impossible to flash other stuff if you get it.
Still cant get it to update ota and kies says its the latest firmware.

If you are connected to Tmo's network even if it did recognize the phone as needing to be updated it would download the T999 ota which is most likely causing your problem when the installer checks the hardware for compatibility. A quick google search turned up THIS which is a (stock) recovery flashable .zip for the official UCUEMJB build.

Thanks, I too am on Cleanrom on Rogers. So if I understand what you've done to get back to stock, simply download the official 4.1.2 for Rogers (in my case), install via ODIN and that will remove the root? I found the latest 4.3 for Rogers on Sammobile so I guess once I've downgraded to 4.1.2 I can ODIN the 4.3

You should go back to stock before making an update from Samsung. Some custom ROM don't play well with stock rom and can cause either glitches or either not being able to boot.

I was thinking of simply Odin to 4.3 from cleanrom instead of stock 4.1.2 and then 4.3 my only issue right is I need root for a couple of critical root apps I use. Will have to wait for someone to create a Stock 4.3 root version. Hopefully, it won't be too long of a wait

Hi, guys. I wanted to write a post, but since i'm a new member, i'm writing a thread here instead. The thread i wanted to reply is:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2294005
I wanted to let somebody know (because it helps some folks) that i used CF-auto-root, and i have successfully rooted my phone.
More details that may be helpful or useful are following:
*Everything was fine until 4.2.2 (JB); then, my stupidity kicked in, and MANUALLY upgraded OTA to 4.3;
*I noticed this CF-auto-root, tried it, perfectly rooted my phone. And YES, i tripped the Knox warranty...
*At some point, i unrooted my 4.3 (JB) so that i can manually upgrade to KitKat when it's released;
*Successfully upgraded to 4.4.2 (KK) OTA on Mar 10;
*I couldn't find any info about "safe root" for 4.4.2, so i chose CF-auto-root instead (i tripped the flag, so i didn't care);
*I took the same steps for rooting 4.3 and it "worked". Initially verified with Root Checker Basic;
*However, SuperSU seemed to be "missing", and i DL from the store, and it opened fine (I didn't know SuperSU can be DL from the store)
This is my story, and i'm sticking to it
cf auto root work fine on my m919 4.4.2
It doesn't show up anymore in the app drawer. I don't have supersu in my app drawer, either. And, I'm definitely rooted. Sounds like you are, too.
