Yeah there are a bunch of other glass screen protector threads, just do a quick search.
Either way though, that is the purpose of the protector. It cracks so your phone screen doesn't. Sounds like it did it's job.

I agree... I don't understand why some people are angry when a case or a screen protector is broken after a drop...
it dies to save your phone, be thankful

Breaking from a drop is definitely understandable, but chipping or cracking from being in your pocket with nothing else is pretty fragile. Definitely use a case with it, even the ones with rounded corners have been known to chip quite easily.

Tiny sctatch on screen, need help!

I dropped my phone and then noticed the tiniest, thinnest scratch on the screen. I can't feel it when I touch the screen, and can only really see it when the light shines on it. I know it's not a big deal, but it's going to slowly drive me crazy. Anything I can do to get rid of it, or reduce it even more? I have hope since it's so tiny. Thanks.

Lol. Not many of us have experience rubbing our screens with cream. Be the guinea pig or man up and buy a screen and screen protector. Matter of fact, just buy a screen protector and be done with it. Ocd is underrated. Or overrated. Depending on how you look at it.

Get a screen protector or a new screen. It's a bit late now to be worried about scratches on your screen, should've gotten a screen protector.
But, we live and we learn.
I have a nice little scratch on mine too. These things are going to happen. It's just a phone!!! Put a screen protector on it and be done with it!
The wet screens will fill in the tiny scratches nicely. The dry apply ones won't.
the XO screen protector seems to be very popular, might be a good choice.
Get an XO Skin and put it on your screen. It filled both a scratch and a scrape on my Gnex, when I thought I'd have to live with the damage.
Get some ocd pills and use a screen protector

Brasso.
Makes your screen crystal clear.
It's been mentioned allready, but the wet apply screen protectors really do work for "hiding" the scratch.
I had a scratch on my droid charge and I actually did try a paste I got from autozone to try and remove the scratch, well... it didn't work. It didn't add to the problem but it didn't remove it either.
So I applied a wet screen protector from skinz I believe, then I couldn't find the scratch no matter how I tried. It was successful in healing my ocd.

Annd there goes the oleophobic coating.
I confirm that XO wet apply covered a scratch on my gnexus display.
It probabely only works for scratches on the coating though, not for deep scratches on the glass.

yeah i have a "anti smudge" screen protector, but it has the rainbow effect sometimes, and it reduces the nice glossy appearance of my phone...and I'm one of those people who can't stand putting anything on my phone haha. any suggestions for good quality screen protectors that aren't too expensive?
I use best skins ever on all my stuff. 12 android phones about 6 tablets few laptops. Works great and you would have to take a knife to my phone to scratch it. Plus they are quite inexpensive. Bestskinsever.com

While it may not be gorilla glass, it's still pretty resillient. As far as screen protectors go, if you usually keep your phone near keys, coins, etc then yes buy one. If not then you should be ok. I used to use screen protectors on all my devices but I stopped believing in them because I usually take good care of my devices either eay and the screen protectors took away the beauty from the device.
It really is just a matter of personal opinion.

I was using ghost armor on my sgs2 until I bought the GNote and tried sgp ultra crystal ( or is it ultra clear? I forget) and loved it! You can't even tell I have something on my screen. So I took off my ghost armor on the sgs2 and tried the ultra crystal, in my opinion it's the best screen protector I have ever used, and I've tried a lot! If it wasn't for the cut out for the ffc you wouldn't be able to see it. No rainbow effect, no orange peel look, no finger prints, no screen distortion, just clear beautiful view, just like the naked screen. I also bought the oleophobic for the GNote, haven't tried it yet, but I can't find it for the sgs2.

I found out the same thing, only after putting the phone in my pocket with my keys. The screen with scratch so I highly recommend that you put on a screen protector
I'm glad this thread hasn't gone retarded with a bunch of assumptions and stuff.
Gorilla glass is just a name. other tempered/reinforced glass can be designed the same way or even better but is not called "gorilla glass".
Like others have mentioned, the glass is pretty sturdy and can protect it from scratches from most day to day objects and items that you use. However, sand in your pocket or on the table can scratch the **** out of the glass because it is compiled by a lot of different minerals.. shoot there might be even diamond in it.
I'm sure most active users on XDA take care of our devices and will be annoyed by the smallest scratches on the screen, so I would recommend a screen protector. It definitely helps prevent scratches and add an extra amount of "cushion" from small drops to prevent shattering your screen.
BTW I was fortunate enough to buy inexpensive screen protectors (like 5 for $4) on amazon and they turned out to be like the SGP ones. They were actually some of the best screen protectors I ever used, it felt identical to the glass. Just a thought if you decide to go the cheap route that there are some good and inexpensive generic ones.

Well, finally managed to scratch my Fantom today.

It took a while, but it finally happened. Was it a nasty drop? Sand in the pocket? An angry woodpecker? No.
It was...
The bottom of a ceramic coffee mug. I was actually just trying to see if it would scratch it and -- I'll be damned -- it did. Not terribly, but there are a few small, circular scratches in the one spot. Curiosity = satisfied.
So let this be a lesson, kids: don't rest your coffee on your Gnex, even with a Fantom tempered glass screen protector on it

Yeah. Admittedly, I haven't taken the screen protector off to find out for sure, but I don't think my coffee cup managed to cut through a piece of tempered glass and scratch the original layer of glass beneath it. I could be wrong, but still. Either way, the scratches aren't to terrible as far as disruption the usage of my phone. Usually I don't notice the scratches. I'll probably replace this protector once I find another that has a good, glass feel to it. If anyone has any recommendations, please do let me know.
wow those scratches are horrible, I wouldn't be able to stand it heh.

I'm curious as to how flat it lays against the screen. I assume it has total contact but I'm not 100% sure. I'd also like to know how well it plays with cases, with it having a thickness that is greater than the typical plastic screen protector. And then there's finger printing. I bought the AT&T/Casemate ones and they are grease magnets and somewhat hard to remove finger oils.

It makes full contact using a silicone adhesive. It does cause issues with hard shell cases. It should be about as fingerprint resistant as our original glass considering it is made from oleophobic glass.

Btw, it lays completely flat. It doesn't go over the tapered edge and actually leaves about 0.5mm of actual flat edge.
When first installed, it didn't completely adhere near the camera and raised slightly, but after about a day it bonded all the way.
Just be mindful about the bubbles when installing. Slightest dirt will show up as a bubble.

How is it for light transmission...does the anti-smudge property block light (like a matte screen protector does)?
If it does smudge, is it relatively easy to remove them? (my Case-Mate vinyl protectors hold onto smudges, needing a liquid cleaner to remove the grease).
During your installation did you trap any dust, and if so, is the silicone adhesive forgiving? Basically, can you remove and reapply or will that possibly leave permanent fingerprints on the adhesive as well as dust?
If you had to do it over again, would you still get this product or try something else?
If you've used spigen glass, they are identical in my opinion.
It basically comes down as the best screen protector you can buy. You won't go back to using any other type of protector.
You can read up on spigen glass it applies for this as well.

Nope. When it does I will post in this thread.
It's a city over from me, So I suspect I'll get it today.
Alright, I got my glass protector today.
I'll give you the bad news, I do not have a photo of it on the phone..But I will cover everything so you won't miss it.
Packaging
The Envelope and the product both had a bubble wrap element to them. So the product made it here safe and I bet yours will too.
The Robot is my watermark and it covers my address.
Sellers Address
It's only worth $8.00 to them LOL
The opening process in order.
They included two Home Buttons
This will let you press the button with the glass on. It's not very tall so have no worries about it grabbing. My Tough Case it higher from the screen than the button.
Alcohol wipe,Home Buttons and a cheap cloth
The glass
It has very accurate cut outs for Home Button,Speaker and the Sensor/Camera area.
Application.
Scotch tape will help you remove any lint after you clean it. It will remove it from the adhesive side of the glass.
My adhesive side plastic cover stayed on the glass and the pull tab came off. It took a finger nail on the Speaker slot to pull it up and off.
I lined it up with the home button as it gives a 360* range of center to focus on. I then let that side rest down and gently let it drop down and on.
If you do it this way you will get to watch as it will pull itself to the OGP screen, It's actually interesting to watch as the glass will change color as it adheres to the screen from Home button up to the speaker.
Impressions
It's really slick and smooth.
The screen is just as responsive as it was naked.
I do not see any finger prints while I've been touching it.
Make certain you have every spec of dust removed. The glass is rigid and it will allow for a larger bubble of air and make it more noticeable.
I work at a steel plant and carry my phone all day, I also live a very active life style so this glass will gets its strength tested.
If it scratches or breaks I will update this thread.
All in all after a hour of having it, I like it and so far have no complaints about it.

Personal preference; but just remember... scratch resistant doesn't mean scratch proof. I use Zagg Invisible shield protectors; it's definitely not the same as going fully naked, but I'd rather have that little, thin, barely noticable piece of plastic over that beautiful screen and remove any hope of scratching it than to pull it out of my pocket and see that fateful 3mm scratch right in the center of the screen.
Depends on you use it. The scratching doesn't happen when you use it. It happens in your pocket and laying around.
I've never used screen protectors. But I also keep my phone in my front pockey BY ITSELF all the time. Never in my pocket with my keys or anything like that.

You know, Skipjacks, they say the Gorilla Glass screens don't scratch from keys or cigarette lighters, or whatever; it's more than likely going to come from dust or little pieces of dirt/sand/grit in your pocket lint.
yes get a screen protector. A case is your choice but a screen protector is a must.
The screen will scratch very easily ... with anything in your pocket including keys...
The thing is, if you keep it without a screen protector your gonna see a tiny lil scratch ...and then a few days later you will see another... and then before you know it your screen is gonna be filled with them.
So yeah get a screen protector.
Get a tempered glass. Feels like the screen is naked.

In teh 2 and a half years I've had a smart phone Iv'e seen no scratches from keeping it in my pocket.
It don't hurt to have one ;] Spigen makes some great thin tempered glass ones which I would recommend.
The screens on these phones don't scratch. Google "gorilla glass drag test" and see for yourself. Screen protectors are a waste as they scratch very easily. Even the so called tempered or hardened protectors are no where near as scratch resistant as the screen itself. I've broken my screen twice but have never managed a single scratch.

That's my same setup. I bought the NeoHybrid case to protect the back and sides, and the Glas.t nano (.15mm) slim protector. It's as thick as a regular plastic protector that you can get for a few bucks anywhere, but is a smooth glass that feels like a naked screen and would give good protection from shattering. The idea is on a fall or anything, the screen protector will shatter and protect the actual screen like an airbag. Also doesn't look like it smudges as much as the actual screen. I'm loving it so far. :good:
Try this one "GEARMAXX Screen Protector" which be available in eBay.
Good quality with well customer service and easy application. Best protectors money can buy.
