Tempered glass screen protector - LG Optimus G Pro

Anyone on the forums try one yet? The seller has 100% feedback for his/her ebay sales, although not all sales are for the glass protectors. I only saw that one person with our phone had purchased one. (veyoncee, are you on this forum???)

I would like to know about this as well. Does anyone know if Spigen is coming out with one?

I did post the link in the original posting but i guess it got deleted. Here goes again but a bit differently.

If that does not work just go to ebay and search "optimus g pro tempered". The seller is " e-sparkler".

I'm curious as to how flat it lays against the screen. I assume it has total contact but I'm not 100% sure. I'd also like to know how well it plays with cases, with it having a thickness that is greater than the typical plastic screen protector. And then there's finger printing. I bought the AT&T/Casemate ones and they are grease magnets and somewhat hard to remove finger oils.

It makes full contact using a silicone adhesive. It does cause issues with hard shell cases. It should be about as fingerprint resistant as our original glass considering it is made from oleophobic glass.

I bought one. Its very good. Resist fingerprint very well, much More so than not having one.
Sent from my Nexus 10 using xda app-developers app

Btw, it lays completely flat. It doesn't go over the tapered edge and actually leaves about 0.5mm of actual flat edge.
When first installed, it didn't completely adhere near the camera and raised slightly, but after about a day it bonded all the way.
Just be mindful about the bubbles when installing. Slightest dirt will show up as a bubble.

How is it for light transmission...does the anti-smudge property block light (like a matte screen protector does)?
If it does smudge, is it relatively easy to remove them? (my Case-Mate vinyl protectors hold onto smudges, needing a liquid cleaner to remove the grease).
During your installation did you trap any dust, and if so, is the silicone adhesive forgiving? Basically, can you remove and reapply or will that possibly leave permanent fingerprints on the adhesive as well as dust?
If you had to do it over again, would you still get this product or try something else?

If you've used spigen glass, they are identical in my opinion.
It basically comes down as the best screen protector you can buy. You won't go back to using any other type of protector.
You can read up on spigen glass it applies for this as well.

Nope. When it does I will post in this thread.
It's a city over from me, So I suspect I'll get it today.

Alright, I got my glass protector today.
I'll give you the bad news, I do not have a photo of it on the phone..But I will cover everything so you won't miss it.
Packaging
The Envelope and the product both had a bubble wrap element to them. So the product made it here safe and I bet yours will too.
The Robot is my watermark and it covers my address.
Sellers Address
It's only worth $8.00 to them LOL
The opening process in order.
They included two Home Buttons
This will let you press the button with the glass on. It's not very tall so have no worries about it grabbing. My Tough Case it higher from the screen than the button.
Alcohol wipe,Home Buttons and a cheap cloth
The glass
It has very accurate cut outs for Home Button,Speaker and the Sensor/Camera area.
Application.
Scotch tape will help you remove any lint after you clean it. It will remove it from the adhesive side of the glass.
My adhesive side plastic cover stayed on the glass and the pull tab came off. It took a finger nail on the Speaker slot to pull it up and off.
I lined it up with the home button as it gives a 360* range of center to focus on. I then let that side rest down and gently let it drop down and on.
If you do it this way you will get to watch as it will pull itself to the OGP screen, It's actually interesting to watch as the glass will change color as it adheres to the screen from Home button up to the speaker.
Impressions
It's really slick and smooth.
The screen is just as responsive as it was naked.
I do not see any finger prints while I've been touching it.
Make certain you have every spec of dust removed. The glass is rigid and it will allow for a larger bubble of air and make it more noticeable.
I work at a steel plant and carry my phone all day, I also live a very active life style so this glass will gets its strength tested.
If it scratches or breaks I will update this thread.
All in all after a hour of having it, I like it and so far have no complaints about it.

Quality seen protectors. I'm personally a fan of xoskins, best on the market imo

Tip of getting them up good...
Run a hot shower in your bathroom and steam up the room. The steam will remove all the dust particles in the air which is the cause for bubbles that cannot be removed.
Then apply the protector. I usually pull just the back off a little at the top. Line it up and scroll down with a credit card to the bottom. If you still have bubbles just work them out pushing them to the side, top or bottom of the device. As long as there is no dirt or dust under the skin you will be able to get rid of them.
I always use the dry application protectors. I find that they always leave a weird film on the screen. You can really see what I am talking about when you remove one of these from you phone.
Some might say a tip would be to not use one.

Some might reply to that tip and say they should read about what happens to unprotected screens.
Put it on outside you wont get dust under it.
While I did just start another thread complaining about ZAGG type screen/body protectors I will admit that certain ones offer excellent screen protection. Extreme Guard can be had on Ebay for about $5 for most phones, Nexus included and they're awesome. Very low smudge, and fingerprints. They're cut well and despite the pain of wet install screen protectors they are much easier to install than body protectors. I would recommend them.

Do tell.
What happens to unprotected screens? I've had my Nexus since Jan. with no screen protector. It attracts finger prints but that's not a problem when you have micro fiber cloth (or your pant leg).
I'm not damage prone so to each his own, I guess.
Sent from the future.
Tried the steam method etc.worked a treat. No bubbles.didn't do the shower though waste water lol.was having a coffee so held it a metre above the kettle and it worked fine. Only for 5 seconds or so ..don't want to damage her!

Or get a reusable screen protector.
I had the Boxwave one, i'm able to remove dust by using some tape and time.
Realook screen protectors. They're awesome. I have them on my Rezound, and they'll definitely be on the nexus when I get it too. I went to Florida the other day, had my phone in a bag on the beach, and of course sand gets everywhere, and scraped up the screen protector pretty good. Not a single mark on the actual screen though. Plus it feels almost exactly like the glass on the phone.

No screen protector is perfect so far. The only two I'd recommend are XO, and Martin Fields. XO is a wet application with a rubbery feeling. You might be irritated with the feeling, if so get Martin Fields. Martin Fields are dry app and matte finished, however it conducts fingerprint and oil like magnets. I went with Martin Fields.
Where abouts are you in the UK?
I have an unwanted XOSkin screen protector for the GNex. Its the one that goes to the screen edge.
Ill sell it for the price they are selling it for.. You save on postage... although if your too far away then nevermind

My martin fields is a glossy finish, didn't know they had two different versions.
I would say Martin Fields has the best fit and finish. I have always had better luck with the dry application protectors. The wet applied ones always have a strange uneven surface that always looks like crap.

This is the right way to do it.
The static from what you're peeling off gets rid of any lint that will end up on your screen, which reduces bubbles. I didn't believe it until I got a perfect application a few days ago. This was with a really cheap screen protector too (I ended up taking it off, it got scratched in like a day...lol).
Also...you can tape some handles on the screen protector to avoid your hands actually touching the sticky side. This is key, IMO. Any time you touch the side, you are at risk for lint.
I just recently put on an invisible shield... i dropped my phone shortly after. Now there are two thin cracks on the phone. Very straight and thin. I cant tell if its a screen crack (i think it is) or just a defect in the screen protector (i hope it is). Aghhhh

not sure if it's just a bad screen protector or the screen is not entirely flat, but it seems kinda strange to me that only the edges of the phone that the screen protector won't stick. i've never seen this in any of my previous SP installations. any thoughts anyone? btw, these are the really cheap SPs from ebay, but they've always worked for me.

That is why some screen protectors don't cover the entire front of the GS3. If it bothers you I believe this screen protector is slightly smaller than the front so it doesn't leave those lifted edges.

the entire edge of the screen is beveled downward to create a curve at the edges. run your finger along the edges and you'll notice it, it's pretty substantial and was an intended design. if you want a protector that will cover all the edges you will need a flexible one. u suggest the skinomi one that's on sale on Amazon.

And this is really unfortunate. My 5 for $0.99 screen protectors from ebay have the same stupid 2mm non-sticking edge at the top/bottom. Maybe I just use a scalpel to cut the next one before I apply it? Might leave a really sharp edge though..
SGP has a Flex HD protector that is supposed to offer full screen coverage. It's $18 but I'm going to give it a shot.

I have used belkin and incipio protectors, and both do not stick around the edges of the phone. It does detract from appearance a bit, but I am not going to worry about it anymore. I have yet to see a screen protector that is 100% flush with the screen.
A tip for those who got the same screen protector. If you have a hair blow dryer, hot blow dry the screen protector first to the point where it gets kinda soft, peel off the part 1 of the SP then apply it. blow drying the SP would soften it and would make it cooperate to stick in the screen. Now, I haven't tried this as I had just ordered the SP similar to this but I've tried the same method when I had the htc sensation(contour glass). There's a big possibilty that this would work

Nice suggestion, but it doesn't make the glue more gummy or anything? Would really have appreciated it if samsung took this into account before they put this odd curve on the glass. Why don't phone companies just ship screen protectors and cases with their phones? In fact the casing should be shock resistant and cheap to replace on EVERY phone. Maybe just a chassis and then you put whatever case around it even.
90% of people stick their nice phone in an ugly $2.99 case. It's a huge market that samsung and others are just giving away. The $39.99 cases don't look any better either...

Are there any screen protectors that have cut out for the camera and such on top and for the home button? and like one of the high end scree nprotectors

The "application solution" is just demineralized water and a bit of soap.
The ghost armour kit just has you make it yourself. Add a single drop of whatever dish soap to the spray bottle they give you, fill with demin water, shake vigorously, and spray.
seriously, dont waste your time and get the SGP Ultra clear nano, its crystal clear , unlike most with the orange peel effect. And has cut outs for the home button and camera. Comes with 3 in a pack. I tried 2 others before and literally put them on, instantly ripped them off and threw in the trash, didnt even try to get my money back and on the third try put the ultra clear nano on there and it was absolutely perfect, I have the slim diz case on it and the nano goes right to the edge of the case so there is no peeling or anything.

Very carefully. Lol. I lined up the bottom edge with where the metal and glass meet. Its easier than explained. I did mess up the first time, it was crooked. I used tape to pull up the screen protector then lined it up again. The instruction says to push down on the center. I didn't have to it automatically started to suck itself onto the phone screen. Definitely an interesting thing to watch. It stopped before it was completely adhered. So I did have to put pressure on the edge. The are tiny micro bubbles that are seen immediately after adhesion, but they dissipate after some time. however my corners seem to not be adhered correctly. I left it over night with an iPad on top to add weight hoping it would flatten out. No such luck. I'm wondering what else i can try...

I will. It's 0.4 mm thickness. I can tell you this the oleophobic coating is worth it. Plastic screen protectors are always greasy and you can't seen to wipe it off enough. These don't have that problem. I'll keep you updated though.

Interesting to hear your account of fitting this. I thinks i will securely tape a carefully aligned straight edge steel ruler to the phone and use that as a bump stop type tool to try and get it on first go.

You reffered to the SGP model of the glass screen protector, due to the packaging.
My question, how sharp are the edges of this screen protector with swiping the toolbar down for example, since SGP released a rounded version of the protector to get the sharp edges of.

Same applies for my last post. How's yours, sharp edges and do they annoy you?

You reffered to the SGP model of the glass screen protector, due to the packaging.
My question, how sharp are the edges of this screen protector with swiping the toolbar down for example, since SGP released a rounded version of the protector to get the sharp edges of.

They are beveled edges, nothing sharp. Feels good.

They aren't sharp like a piece of glass in a picture frame. It's somewhat beveled but not rounded off and super smooth. Well worth the money for me.

I will. It's 0.4 mm thickness. I can tell you this the oleophobic coating is worth it. Plastic screen protectors are always greasy and you can't seen to wipe it off enough. These don't have that problem. I'll keep you updated though.

ah, okay dope, thanks man. May order soon tho!! But I'm still waiting for some stuff for my phone so after that I'll see if you got any updates on the screen!
Got the same screen protector from the same supplier as the OP today.
Very easy to install. No bubbles
Nice rounded edges, and as it is lightly smaller than the screen, my case fits well.
Texture very slick. Once on and in the case you wouldn't actually know it has a screen protector on apart from the small rise next to each speaker which you would take as part of the phone if you weren't familiar with the HTC One..
I will never go back to plastic SPs. This is legit! Even though an edge didn't completely adhere this thing rocks.

Finally! Screen protector

I've tried 6 screen protectors and finally found one without any issues. #5 was a zizo and it fit but had a stupid rainbow and the top corner randomly broke in my pocket after a month.
I bought this one on ebay. It covers the whole screen, fits perfectly, has a curved screen, no rainbow, air bubbles, and doesn't lift up at the ends. I'm finally happy with my screen protector

Do you use a case with the phone?
I thought someone tried this on the main thread for screen protectors and said it was just another Zizo. I really don't care about the rainbow. I just hate the smudges

It looks similar to zizo but it isn't (I've bought both).

So, this is interesting, I bought the zizo combination case and glass screen protector combo amd it looks EXACTLY like the one you're mentioning here. It's actually really great. No rainbow or bubbling and full-screen exactly like this one.

Sorry, the only way I have to take pictures is with the phone itself in a mirror (not terribly useful) or with the web cam on my new laptop which of course is of an awful quality. Here is the best I could get...
Would be nice if you use a friend's phone and take some pictures of the screen protector installed. I'm not being rude and appreciate your attempts at photographing it, but honestly they're pointless as they show us nothing

For $7 I'm going to give it a shot. Same price on Amazon for Supershieldz and 2 day delivery. Will update when installed
UPDATE: My Supershieldz TGP arrived and before heading out of town on business I installed and can confirm NO HALO. This is not just a Zizo close. Been using it for a couple of days now and while there is still smudging it's not as bad as the Zizo. I'll try to post some photos using my 6p when I get home

I'm with stanglifemike...
U can't see anything in those pictures.
I've ordered a zizo and a couple of the others that look the same and I'm done. All the ones I get smudge like crazy and have the rainbow effect.
I'm just gonna wait until there's a definite consensus on one that doesn't have those issues.
I'm currently using an Armor shield wet protector and it's pretty good for plastic. Better than the glass protectors as far clarity/smudge resistance but the glass is obviously better as far as feel goes.
Anybody knows a good matte/Anti-Glare screen protecror that covers the whole screen?
I pried my wife's iphone 7 plus out of her hands long enough to take these.
Is there adhesive on the clear part of the glass? Not just on the black trim. That's the cause of the oil spill under the screen. No adhesive to hold it tight to the phone like the clear tempered shields.

Not a clue, but whatever is holding it on is clear with no bubbles, bumps or rainbow oil slicks.

I've never had a problem with that on any of the 6 I've tried so can't say. No issues here for me.

I was not about to stick my finger on the adhesive side to check if the center has adhesive but with no halos can't think of another explanation
