Is it possible to use warranty for back light bleed?, i recently notice the backlight bleed alot...at the bottom of the screen while watching movies :/
Po678
@Po678 how long have you had the device? Its a worthy reason for an exchange depending if within refund period.
Personally I think you will be able to use warrenty as its a fault with the screen from manufacture but call them up and tell them you WANT them to fix it rather than ASKING them.

I just got a GSM galaxy nexus today from ordering off the google play store, but it has the purple tint screen issue about as bad as any screen shots I have seen. I am having trouble finding information on the site of how to go about starting an exchange of this one for another, anyone have experience with this and able to tell me where to begin?
Before going through the hassle of exchanging, try this.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1521195
It's a thread for screen calibration.
Its not an issue of color reproduction issues, this is a case of greys having a purple tint at low backlight levels. An issue well documented on this site and several others, and I have already tried some fixed by tweaking some color values etc but to no avail.
These screens are pretty derp at low light levels bud. Mine has some banding at low light but i decided to live with it. My last nexus one had a small beard hair lodged just behind the glass in the lower left hand corner. Or perhaps it was an eight year old sweat shop workers eyebrow hair. At any rate i lived with it for years. It really comes down to if you can live with it or not. I imagine its a samsung rma and not a google contact you need if you plan to exchange.

As long as its NO LONGER THAN 14 days, they will ship you a new Gnex via 2 day, and send you a prepaid shipping label to your email so you can ship them.back the defective unit.
Also, they ask for a credit card to charge IN CASE you should happen to keep both units. They'll only charge you if you don't return the defective one, or see that you cracked the screen or has water damage, etc. Just call Google Play CS and they'll set it up for you.

Will the Note 2 be covered under normal 2 year warranty circumstances if the screen will become annoying to use after it has burned in?
Be careful in the selection and duration of television formats used for viewing. Uneven CRT or Plasma Display Panels aging as a result of format selection and use, as well as other burned-in images, is not covered by your Samsung limited warranty.
That is Samsung official statement about it´s displays, AMOLED family could have same treatment...but wait...
http://vr-zone.com/articles/samsung-denies-responsibility-for-galaxy-s3-screen-burn-in/16616.html
They offered replacement for S3 burn in according to this article!!!
I have burn in effect on my Samsung Galaxy Note 2. At first it was difficult to see and from past few days it is worse and starts to be annoying. My question is- Does Samsung warranty cover burn in ? (Someone says that covers and some said it does not cover)
The device is not even a year old
having same problem here. Appeared spontaneously after flashing Hurricane V10 but don't think it is for the rom. Hoping that the screen will last for at least half year more til nexus 6(or nexus 5 2014 ed.) appear

I just got this xmas am. Samsung galaxy 10.1 2014 edition. These lines have become more frequent in the past few days. On top of these, the note keeps crashing and freezing. I am not thrilled. Anyone know what is going on?

It sure looks like a hardware issue, maybe a memory fault. I would take it back to the supplier for an exchange. Sorry.
Them lines are basically the same appearance as the wacom digitizer...very odd.
If you have a look at this wacom digistizer picture near the sides it is identical to the one you have running across in your screen. The Note 10.1 2014 has that exact matrix on the entire screen however its transparent and its only barely visable under BRIGHT lighting and specific angles.

I'm no expert but yours could be hardware or software - I'd just go back and get a replacement.
Do you have a hand strap on your case/cover that touches the screen when closed ?
I've seen reports of the strap leaving a dirty "imprint" on the screen that you can actually wipe away with a cloth.
I see this on my S4... the Smart Cover window always leaves a rectangular dirty mark on my screen that I can wipe away.
Might be something else though...
Hope you get it solved... it must be like having an injured child

Hi, I bought the Tab S 8.4 (T-700) two days ago. Today, I noticed a strange blue mark at the bottom of the screen, as if was a blot of tint or spilled paint inside the screen. It started growing upwards, every time I turned on the screen the blot seemed bigger and darker, I attach some pics here. Is it something common or a known issue?
I've googled and found nothing related to this problem. I asked my brother who has had many tablets over the years and he told me it looks like I dropped it or put great pressure on the screen, that maybe if I take it to the Samsung center they would not receive it under warranty beacuse it looks like that. I'm confused and sad, because I also bought a protective case and always had it with me, not somewhere it could be dropped or damaged.
Right now we're traveling outside the country and will not have access to a Samsung center to get it hecked until next week. It sucks a lot.
What do you think? Is it something serious? Thanks in advance.
By the looks of it.. It looks like part of the screen is dead. It shouldn't even be like that either. I think it might be defective from the looks of it. Was it like that out of the box?

It wasn't like that two days ago. In fact, I just used for maybe 2 or 3 hours for browsing mindlessly on monday, yesterday I used it to check my email at night and the screen was still intact. Now, today I turned it on and there was the ink-like spil in the screen, but the strange thing to me is that touch and the tablet in general is still working flawlessly, except for that horrible dark blue mark that keeps growing.
It's probate defective if no one else touched the tablet. It doesn't seem like you pit pressure on it. I'm not sure how are you going good to explain this to Samsung.

I know, I'm afraid they won't take it under warranty. I just hope they can replace the screen on a reasonabale price...

If they don't cover it,They might replace the whole thing. That's gonna be a a really expensive replacement if they do. Like at least half of the price of the tablet.

Well, today the ink-like blue spill grew much more and covers the screen totally. The device is still running perfectly except that I can't see anything on the display. Still hoping samsung's technical support takes it under warranty, as of now it doesn't look like I put pressure on the screen or dropped it by accident like in the first pics, and I do now that I didn't drop it or something like that.
where did you buy it? you might be able to get an exchange?
Looks like the LCD broke. The "liquid" part is broken and spreading. The same thing happens when you leave a cheap lcd calculator out in direct sunlight for a long time. I hear there are many ways this can happen such as a sudden impact to the screen, the sun, pressure etc. I would bet though its the liquid in the lcd. Only way to fix it is to replace the whole digitizer.
Hi,
I bought recently a new Samsung galaxy tab s4 and the first time I watched a movie laying on bed with the lights off (low screen brightness), I noticed a dark stripe on the screen...
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=TqcpX6g0ciE
Well... Is this normal? I guess it's not. Should I return it?
Thanks!
I have this too on my Samsung Note 4. It is a common defect of AMOLED displays, where the temperature and luminance degrades the pixels over time, increasing the probability for burn-in.
You can try to find which app caused this, by matching up the dark area with the app contents. For me it was YouTube and 8 Ball Pool that I was using for long periods at full brightness --- when playing a fullscreen video or game, the screen will NOT turn off. I kept forgetting this, and went to the bathroom or kitchen leaving the screen on!
Did you buy it second hand, used? The previous owner or you may have likely used full brightness and showing a static image for long periods.
There is nothing you can do to fix it. The S4 is still a new flagship model so you may be able to get a replacement.
Well... I bought the tablet two months ago, brand new, and I have barely used it. Like... twice a week or so.
My sister has the same model, used it a lot more and it hasn't developed dark stripes.
I cannot find a match except, maybe, the Google search bar. I guess I will try to get it returned. I cannot accept this on a 500€ tablet. Should I know this before hand, I'd bought a Huawei tablet for half the price.
Or maybe I'm overreacting and I simply got a defective unit.

Hi. Sorry. I've been offline lately. Here is the test image: https://ibb.co/F3VjHSh
I'm going to return the tablet to the store to see what can be done.

Thanks what was your brightness set at ? Man in the video link you posted the text at the bottom looked crazy bright ? On mine it looks fine please note i did move the image like you did my brightness is set at dead center on the second icon so about 25% or 30% ish (im guessing)
Also i set the brightness half way, and i do not get that black bar!
I had the same problem on the tab S3. Samsung text said it was a known issue, affecting about 30% of all screens. It is replaceable under warranty. Eventual getting through the first round of tech support, ask for support team to handle your issue. My tab S4 had the same issue, but it wasn't as noticeable. I accidentally folded into a fold-up couch and demolished it, whenever I got a replacement under AT&T insurance policy, the tablet I got had a perfect screen! I'm taking has best care of it as I possibly can, as it is literally the first perfect screen I've seen on the S Series tablets. It may be frustrating to deal with the 5 to 10 day turnaround time, but as an artist who actually works on Gray backgrounds quite often it was worth the effort.

Thank you for testing this on your tablet. Actually, the overall brightness was about 15-20%. But that was enough for a dark/dim room.

Oh, do you have any references for this?
Ouch. I can feel the pain of the couch event.
Well, my tablet came today from the tech support... They wiped the memory and cleaned some greasy fingerprint marks.
But they did not solve the problem. I guess they even tried to find out what was wrong.
I'm starting to be unhappy with Samsung...

No direct reference as it was a tech I was speaking with on the phone. Just ask specifically to be forwarded to support team. Then you will only be speaking with one service rep, and they will be in direct contact with the tech that handles your tablet. They can even ensure it goes to the repair center closest to you.
Well... I'm feeling like this story needs an end.
I actually send the tablet to the repair center and they changed the screen. The lady at the store were I purchased the tablet told me that the problem was a loose flex cable inside the tablet, but... Who really knows? The repair sheet doesn't mention that.
Anyway, the tablet is better now, but not 100%... It still shows a slight darkening towards a corner of the screen, barely noticeable under normal circumstances but that does indeed shows with test images. The good thing is that this is not a dark band anymore.
