Hello
I have a android phone which seems not to be very famous, therefore it is basically impossible information about how to root it (it is a prestigio pap7600duo).
I wonder if anyone knows any guide about rooting
I am not referring to a tool like oneclick, but to something that explains how the process works, with the problem that can arise, why a device cannot be root at the moment, so that i can try to find to root it.
Does it depend on the processor? on the hardware? on the custom software installed?
I work with linux and i'm a java programmer if this can help, and have a a background in C/C++ development
thanks in advance
Rob

Hi, is anywhere guide for developing.. i want dev too but i dont know how
What you want to develop? Kernel? System? Both?
on which host (Win/Linux/Mac)?
i want to dev too
i want do dev both kernel and system on windows ... so any advices? and thank you in advance
(EX/OR)
i want to develop both but maybe ony system. because when i wil dev kernel, i will can brake my phone
and im on win exactly win7. but on Notebook i have linux.. so its Win or Lin
And im think it will be better with guide.. Later can be more developers and it is better because updates release frequently
It is possible to put together a build using windows, but for serious development work you will need a Linux system for compiling, building from an already developed base only requires a good text editor, ( not notepad), and 7zip really.
so i need only good text editor? and source data.. its all?
and what sam knowledge of C/+/++/# Java.. nothing?
C for kernel
java for system
linux for both
Develop on windows is quite painful and on mac there are some problem with libs.
The only good system for fast develop is linux. Use a virtual system and setup a simple virtual machine with linux.
Then follow the fresh froyo thread to compile the first time (a lot of time).
Hi Michga,
have you development knowledge in any environment?
Are you for the first time approaching software developing?
Obviously you need programming language knowledge if you want to develop software (every kind of software: applications, utilities, system tools, kernel and so on)
moreafter, if you mind developing operating system's module (kernel, drivers and so on) you need deep understanding of general operating systems mechanisms in addition to specific knowledge about the OS you are developing for.
If this is your first step in software developing, I can suggest you try little application first, then step to system programming...
As a software is made up of simple text, as Zenity said, what you need is AT LEAST a good text editor and this is correct if you plan to write or modify simple pieces of software but if you mind to develop something more, a software developing environment maybe a better choice.
More, have a look at http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html where you can find the SDK toolkit for Android.
Sorry not being more helpful: I'm a software developer but don't develop for Android yet... (Time... Time... Time... )
See you
thanks for answers.. i think it is all i need..thanks
Hello everyone,
I wanted to first just say that I am very new to the android community and this is my first experience as I have been an apple user forever. My end goal is to be able to dual boot android with either windows, or a version of Linux. I am wanting to install the tablet in the dash of my car and run a program call "rom raider" so that I log real time data and tune my car at will. I have already unlocked and rooted the device, which was a learning experience in itself. I am just needing some direction as to which would be more stable to dual boot (windows/Linux). How exactly this process works. An anything else that I might need to know while I continue t try my hand at this project. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

You'll be able to use MultiROM to boot to Ubuntu, but I'm not aware of any ported Windows OS.
Of course this requires Unlocking, Rooting, and installation of a MultiROM kernel.
Have fun, Read,Read,Read before you start.

Thanks for that information. Do you have any suggestions on where I could start? I have been looking in the LinuxonAndroid Project, but being a new user the instructions are a little confusing.

Hi everyone,
I am a newbie to posting to this forum, although I've been reading this for a long time and using the tweaks suggested with a lot of interest so please bear with me. Sooo... I am struggling to root my new LG G3 d855 (v20f) in order to switch to Cyano as I can't find a viable way to root it through Linux. I have read this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/guide-root-method-lg-devices-t3129197) but I assume it would only work on Windows machine, as I read a guy had issues in trying to run the script through OS Virtualbox. I tried PurpleDrake (but it wouldn't work on Lollipop, just KK) and most of my acquaintances do not have Windows machines...I do have them just on my workplace but it wouldn't let me install any "foreign" thing (as the LG drivers) without administrator passwords so...I am kind of stuck in the hoods. Has anyone figured out how to root devices like mine on a Linux machine? Thank you very much for your help! :good:
Hey guys! I am pretty new to a lot of this rooting and custom ROM installs. I recently picked up an Asus TF300T from a friend at work which i have root(the easy part). The reason why i was looking into this or even a laptop was because i wanted to start tinkering with pen testing with Kali Linux. After a lot of research, trying to retain what information i could, i have found there is an image for Kali for armel. This brings 2 questions to mind that i cannot find the answers to. 1 - Even though the CPU on my Asus tablet is ARMv7 will armel images work? From what i have found, i would want to use an armhf image to flash to the device due to the version of the CPU. And 2 - Is there a distro(i have been unsuccessful finding one) that has the drivers required to make a smoothing working environment? During the course of my research into this issue, i have found there are some distributions of Ubuntu that currently work with my tablet. More specifically Ubuntu Touch(i think?). This got me thinking, since both Kali and Ubuntu are both Debian based distros(i could be wrong, please correct me if i am) could i take the section of the file system from Ubuntu Touch that has the drivers for my tablet that allow it to work correctly and replace it with the section of the file system for the ARM image of Kali? I should mention that i have been able to get Kali to install and run with Linux Deploy. However, i feel it is slower than i was anticipating. And all the tools are there, they just do not open for some reason. Which is a whole different issue that i haven't figured out yet. I was hoping that perhaps one of you may have an idea if the two questions i have posed will work, or could maybe shed some light on how to go about accomplishing what i am trying to do. Or if any of you know of a version of Kali that will work on my tablet or maybe even one someone has already built for this particular model. Any guidance, tips, or knowledge on this subject will be very much appreciated. I understand going out and buying a laptop or a tablet with an image supported on Kalis website would be the ideal and most efficient solution, but i have a bad habit taking the hard way to gain some more information and knowledge haha. Thank you all for taking the time to read this and thanks in advanced for any responses .
Kyle
Well, it is?
I have an Alcatel C9, it's a really nice phone but Alcatel gives no support to basically anything they make... There are some really nice ROMs for this phone, but neither of them go pass android 4.2.2.
What I really want is the phone to keep the compatibility with the newer apps because the hardware can do it but well I can't install anything that need android 4.3+
Can I edit an existing ROM, maybe my own stock ROM to upgrade the android version without having to start a gigantic project? If the anwer is yes, then I will start studing the subject more and try to make it hapend, if not well thanks for your time.
I am a programer in java and C#, I just don't have experience in the android Custom ROM world, so don't know how possible is this.
Excuse my english, it's not my native language.
