Stuck in blackscreen - LG Optimus G (International)

Erm guys, I've pulled out my LGOG out of the cupboard after about 6 months. Now, when i plug in the charger, the LG logo shows up for a brief moment, and the phone is now stuck in a black screen.
I am trying to hard reset the phone by pressing Power + Vol Down but they dont seem to be responding.
Before my LGOG went into the cupboard, I unlocked it using FreeGee. People were saying that the phone should never be turned off.
I hope you guys can help me , or i will just dump this phone back into the cupboard...
Thanks

That won't work.

Solved your problem? When my e975 discharged to 0%, he shows same thing as yours. I hold power button (sometimes trying to go bootloader) and led indicator shows blinking red light, and hold more, after 2 mins i try to turn on(if not try hold again). It works for me, maybe you shoud try too.

This thing happen because our G bootloader dont charge our phone off because a bug. So you need to turn on when the charger are coneted and maybe you have lucky. You need to read some things before flash any thing on your phone

Red light flashing.. phone won't boot.

Hello! let's just cut to the chase. I need help..
Couple of days ago I got tired of waiting for the new ota for my phone so I decided to root.. unlocking bootloader went well, installed newest cwm, made a backup of my rom and chose renovate 3.0 as my first rom to try... everything works normal and I update the faux kernel on the rom to version 5b01.. all works normally at this point.. I play games, listen to music, surf the web.. yesterday I then updated the kernel to 5b03.. I went playing dark knigt rises (btw a very good game) and the phone heats up pretty much (which I think is normal as the game is quite heavy and I use wilkyys game booster app). I play about 15minutes and I get the message that the battery is running low, I plug the charger in and continue.. five minutes go and the phone freezes and the screen goes black.. the phone is connected to the charger and the charging light blinks red.. the phone won't start, even when pressing the power key for 10seconds. I can get to the bootloader and recovery _when_ the phone is connected to the charger thou.. if I unplug the charger the phone won't do anything. I search the problem on xda and find some threads about similar problems.. eventually after changing from the wallcharger to the usb charger on my pc (did this many times..) the red light goes solid and I press power and the phone boots normally.. weehee I made it!! or so I thought..
Next day: I woke up and the phone was in charger all night. Battery reads 100%. I load "system tuner" and experiment with undervolting my phone (only -50mv) and run some benchmarks and everything seems working.. I start to download an app from the play store.. the phone freezes and again the same flashing red light is to be seen, I thought it could be because of the undervolt but I'm not sure anymore.. and now I haven't got the phone in working condition.. I have now got the phone in recovery for about three hours and there should be enough juice for it to start but it wont..
I also restored my backup but that didin't help.. with the getvar battery-voltage command it reads about 2500mv which should be enough to atleast power it on?

2500mv is far too low for lithium ion batteries. There are protection mechanisms in most lithium ion batteries that will trigger at 2.7volts or lower putting the battery and its protection circuitry into deep sleep.
From the battery university: http://batteryuniversity.com/learn/article/charging_lithium_ion_batteries/
Li-ion should never be discharged too low, and there are several safeguards to prevent this from happening. The equipment cuts off when the battery discharges to about 3.0V/cell, stopping the current flow. If the discharge continues to about 2.70V/cell or lower, the battery’s protection circuit puts the battery into a sleep mode. This renders the pack unserviceable and a recharge with most chargers is not possible. To prevent a battery from falling asleep, apply a partial charge before a long storage period.
If this is the case you may not be able to recover easily. We can only assume something went wrong with the phones firmware that caused it to deeply discharge and now protection measures have kicked in.

Phil
hmm.. thanks for the answer.. last night I got the charging light to stay solid when I plugged the phone in and I was so happy.. but I was so stupid and tried immediatly to turn it on.. it even started and got to the quietly brilliant screen, but died pretty soon and the red light started blinking again.. then I realised I should have kept it charging for a while before trying to turn it on... god damn it..

When lithium batteries are deep discharge (below 2.7volt) changes take place which can cause short circuits in the battery, recharging then becomes dangerous, hence the battery goes into a form of safety mode, it's like a fuse blowing. It may never take a charge again, or if it does, the battery life will be less than before.
Hope it recovers okay however if it really did hit 2.5volt it could be permanently damaged now.
Regards
Phil
mine was doing that for a while. Keep it plugged in, if the wall charger doesnt work hook it up to a computer. it will turn on again...
simple keep the phone on charge for few hours and dont touch it.
Ok back to the problem.. the phone was in charger yesterday for about 12hours.. and still won't show any signs of recovery.. blinking red light continues... I might just have to accept that I have to send it in to repair... sigh.. and I think I have to pay for it..
As I said in my first post I have restored a nandroid backup of which I made as soon as I installed cwm.. so I should be at stock firmware? allthou I can't confirm it as I can't get the phone to boot but cwm said restore was succesful.. next step is to install original recovery and relock the phone, am I correct? so next question is.. is there anyway to do this as everytime I try to flash something with flasboot I end up with "failed: low battery"...?

I've experienced this kind of problem when I drain the battery flat; naturally, I crapped myself like everyone else since there's no easy way to remove the battery like you would for any other phone.
All I did (and still do) when this happens is hold the power button until the main buttons flash white a few times, let go and it should reboot the phone..
two minutes pressing power button, nothing happens

did the buttons even flash??
Try holding vol down + power until you get a response, then try holding the power button again ..
for me the key was to get the buttons to flash white, thats when i knew things were gonna be ok! :highfive:

Don't you just love it when that happens.
I had a rooted phone and my warranty was probably void. A week ago I dropped the phone screen first onto a concrete floor and I expected the worst. Picked it up and turned it on and to my surprise, the screen hadn't cracked. Used it for 5 minutes and it worked as it normally would. When I got back home and wanted to make a call, the screen wouldn't turn on. The lights for the buttons would light up but the screen would remain blank. Calls and texts would come through so the phone worked, just without the screen. After about 10 minutes of tinkering, the screen turned on and I heaved a sigh of relief thinking all was normal again. But when I locked it and tried unlocking it, the screen refused to turn on again. At this point I assumed there would be a loose connection between the MB and screen.
I took the phone to a few repair shops around here to find out how much they would charge and I got quotes around $200. So I decided to try taking it to the vodafone store to see how much it would cost to get HTC to repair the phone. The guy over the counter inspects the phone and finds no physical damage to the screen and says that they'd be glad to replace the phone right then and there at the price of me losing all my data as that would be unrecoverable. I told him I'd be glad to have a replacement on the spot. So in the end, I guess I got a good deal.
Lucky you !

I had the same problem last night:
phone charging with the HTC wallcharger, alarm set.
the device did not ring: it died during the night.
At first, impossible to boot (rom or hboot) or to charge it. I plugged it on my PC and the red light started to flash. One hour later, it was still flashing, so I tried to turn it ON
It turned ON but repported 2% battery only. (ok, that's why it was refusing to boot)
4 hours later, ON and plugged to the HTC wallcharger (that I verified of course), it was still 2%
After three reboots, plug/unplug several times, suddenly battery displayed 44% instead of 2%
Battery monitor repports that indeed, the device charged for the 1st part of the night, then suddenly and very quickly discharged to 0 while plugged, with no particular app to drain the battery.
During the 4 hours it was plugged and ON, it remained 2%, then a sudden 44% after a reboot.....
What the hell is that???? I've now cleaned cache and battery stats in recovery and I'm letting it charging to see if it goes above these 44%
Weird, I really thought my battery had just died....
EDIT: 2 minutes later, it now repports 46%, so seems to charge correctly. But I need to know what happened, I usually relay on my phone alarm to wake up, and if it happens again, it could be a real problem. Maybe I should flash an other recovery, even if I never had a single problem with it?

I have drained battery, been charging all night with a flashing red LED. No response. Now when I plug it in it still flashes red. When I hold the power button (also power+volume down) the main buttons start flashing white, but no response from the phone whatsoever.
When I let go the power button during the flashing, the lights either go out or stay on..
Any ideas? Thank you!

Wont turn on!

Hello!
I dropped my LGOG E975 and the screen has cracked. The upper half would still work. But i could not turn the phone off. So i let the battery run dry. When i came back from vacation, approx. a month after, i sent it in to change the screen. It got changed, but now it has another problem:
It wont turn on! At the store they said they could not get the phone to boot. I took it to a charger and while holding the volumebuttons it showed the LG logo for a second, then blinked red a couple of times. This happend twice. Now if i hold the power button for 15 seconds and plug it in, it will quickly blink a red light.
What to do? I suspect it's something with the software.
FIY i unlocket the bootloader, rooted and installed a recovery. Dont remember which one tho'.
Update:
I can now enter fastboot or download mode. But the phone wont be found by kdz. flashers.
Try to access recovery from the fastboot screen, pushing 2 times volume down then power.

The phone turn black, blink red once and thats it.
As a sidenote, i can only put it in fastboot or downloadmode after i hold the powerbutton a while before plugging it in. Else the red LED wont blink.
I have no idea then
Have you tried to put it in fastboot without plugging it in? Volume down + Power button when the phone is off.

No response from the phone. Can it be a batteryproblem since the red LED flashes shortly when plugged in and entering fastboot/download mode or trying to open the recovery?
Maybe. Leave it charging for a while and try again.
My father always lets his phone die out of battery and he leaves it off for a while like that. When trying to power it back on, or when plugging it to the charger, the led flashes just like you described. It's not an OG, but it may be something similar what's happening to you, since you said you left it for quite some time turned off.
Okay, i will try to leave it over night. It will sit in the charger for 6 hours before my next check.
Try to upgrade/recovery with LG support tool in download mode

what was the outcome with the new battery?
im an currently experiencing an issue that sounds much the same as this, difference is that i was using the teenybin software and the HS shutdown halfway through the update, and now will not do a thing other than blink the RED LED when i hold the power button down whilst pugged into charger
also to mention, the battery life on the HS prior to this was reasonable..

Hi Gustavo,
Sorry I'm new member but may be able to help you with this.
I had a similar experience with my son's tab 3 kid's edition last year.
It just died and wouldn't turn on. I tried everything but no luck. I then decided to take the tablet back to samsung store and packed it. I was suppose to go the store 2 days later but after 48 hours of device dying I just thought of trying to turn it on and plugged it in to the wall charger.
To my surprise display came on showing red battery icon and after 30 mins approx, device showed green battery icon still charging. after roughly 10 hours I turned the device on and it works flawlessly since then.
Hope this helps.

Hi! Thanks for the help! But before i make this topic i waited for 3 days to put tablet on a charger.... nothing happened =/ But i'm gonna try again!
I had a similar problem.
Do you know how to separate the screen from the body? I found that the connector at the base of battery was very loose. I managed to push it down and it turned on right after.
Hope this helps!
Whilst I agree it could be a loose connector, it would void your warranty. I would see about going to your local samsung repair centre and see if they can have a look without wiping.
This happend to my 8.4 last week, no way to revive but i can feel warm at the back while doing all the first aid trix but no luck. So i decided to bring it to the nearest samsung store w/repair service they remove the back cover and battery, they told me they just ¿¿refresh start?? the battery? because it was drained!!?? wtf i remeber i left it with 30% charge... but anyway they fixd it in less than an hour. But yesterday the symptom returnd again i have to power+down+home just to turn it on :/
Plug in the charger then press power + vol down (not up). Hold for a good while until it restarts.
If it doesn't then it could be hardware related.
With so many people reporting battery problems, you might just have a bad battery and that's why it gets hot when connected to a charger. *I* would open it and check the battery's connection and maybe even replace the battery.
I saw some videos...but i don't want to void warranty :/

Lg G3 won't power on or charge

I have a LG G3 D851 from T-Mobile. I had it from about two years now. It upgraded to Android M about a year ago and now the phone won't charge or turn on. I tried everything. First I tried to hard reset' but nothing. Next I tried refrigeration. The phone would start up and go to homescreen, but then freeze and shut off. I even bought a new battery, but it would still have the same problem. Sometimes tne phone would start and shiw that screen on but nothing on it, and it would also turn on and turn off then show the led flash red and blue. When I charge it, it would show the battery loading up and shut down, then the phone would keep restarting. Like I said, tried every thing. If anyone could help me that would be great.
Thanks

I would start with replacing the battery. It has been a wbile since i have had a g3 but this was a common issue. The batteries were known to bassicly just keel out
The solution is a simple one.
1 remove battery
2 connect charging cable (I am not kidding)
3 power in the phone
4 the phone will try to boot
5 it will fail to boot or maybe it will boot
6 insert battery while the charging cable is still attached
7 power the phone
8 the phone will boot and show 100% battery
9 reboot phone
The next video shows my phone working without the battery...

Hold power and volume down for one minute

Is there anything else I can do?

Its dead phone. What do you want some magic to turn it on? If it dosnt want to turn it on its dead phone and you cant do anything about it.
You might be right, but in the 20 years of owning mobile phones I have never had one that simply "died" before. I've ordered a new charge port as I think it might be to blame.

You're not saying if device can enter to recovery nor fastboot or If your device is unlocked or not or if you have some screen as the logo or if you have some vibration, some led blinking, or if you let it charging with screen on (it must be screen burning) or if device was off while charging...
The phone has no sign of life. No led, no screen on. Nothing.

Well, there is not much you can do here, it could be a damage at the hardware level, probably in the port charger or at emmc/motherboard.
Also the overcharging or the kernel panic produced for some overheating can make that device won't boot.
The only you should try at software level is this https://c.mi.com/thread-1479882-1-0.html
I fixed it! After replacing the charging port it still didn't work.
However I read somewhere that disconnecting then reconnecting the battery connector inside the phone would work so I tried that and it worked.
Phone back working fully.
