Try home+power+vol up+vol down and hold it for 1-2 minutes or until something happens? Try it also while it's plugged in.

And i did all this connected on PC, Disconnected, Connected on a original Wall Charger and on a parallel wall charger.
Do you even get the noise on the pc to detect that something is connected?

Hi Gustavo,
Sorry I'm new member but may be able to help you with this.
I had a similar experience with my son's tab 3 kid's edition last year.
It just died and wouldn't turn on. I tried everything but no luck. I then decided to take the tablet back to samsung store and packed it. I was suppose to go the store 2 days later but after 48 hours of device dying I just thought of trying to turn it on and plugged it in to the wall charger.
To my surprise display came on showing red battery icon and after 30 mins approx, device showed green battery icon still charging. after roughly 10 hours I turned the device on and it works flawlessly since then.
Hope this helps.

Hi! Thanks for the help! But before i make this topic i waited for 3 days to put tablet on a charger.... nothing happened =/ But i'm gonna try again!
I had a similar problem.
Do you know how to separate the screen from the body? I found that the connector at the base of battery was very loose. I managed to push it down and it turned on right after.
Hope this helps!
Whilst I agree it could be a loose connector, it would void your warranty. I would see about going to your local samsung repair centre and see if they can have a look without wiping.
This happend to my 8.4 last week, no way to revive but i can feel warm at the back while doing all the first aid trix but no luck. So i decided to bring it to the nearest samsung store w/repair service they remove the back cover and battery, they told me they just ¿¿refresh start?? the battery? because it was drained!!?? wtf i remeber i left it with 30% charge... but anyway they fixd it in less than an hour. But yesterday the symptom returnd again i have to power+down+home just to turn it on :/
Plug in the charger then press power + vol down (not up). Hold for a good while until it restarts.
If it doesn't then it could be hardware related.
With so many people reporting battery problems, you might just have a bad battery and that's why it gets hot when connected to a charger. *I* would open it and check the battery's connection and maybe even replace the battery.
I saw some videos...but i don't want to void warranty :/

So I've been using my Tab S for a minimum of 3-4 hours a day since I got it in Feb.
It is the Tab S 10.5 32GB version from Best Buy SM-T800
I've never dropped it, scratched it, etc. I've been VERY careful with it.
I installed Iron Rom on it in March (before Lollipop came out), and besides one freeze per month, have had no issue with it (I've also never updated Iron Rom as it never had an issue).
This morning I used the tablet for an hour while it was plugged in (and at 100%). I then unplugged it and put it on a table. An hour later, I went to use it, and the screen stayed black when I pushed any buttons!!
So I tried holding down the power button for 30 seconds. Nothing. I tried plugging it in. Nothing. I tried holding down volume down and power button for 30 seconds. Nothing. I tried holding down all the buttons for 30 seconds. Nothing.. I tried holding volume up, down, and power. Nothing. I tried holding volume down, menu, and power. Nothing. I tried holding volume up, menu, and power. Nothing. Then I repeated the above over and over. NOTHING!
I even waived magnets over it.. (I read it on the internet).. Nothing
This tablet is my daily driver. It won't turn on, it won't show me a charging screen. I'm freaking out! There is no physical damage to the tablet, no one else has touched it.. I'm freaking out man!!
Any suggestions before I jump out the window?

Hi, I think someone had this problem a while back. No matter what he did, it didnt seem to turn on at all. It turns out, it was some sort of hardware problem and even though knox was tripped, it was repaired free of charge. The only thing I can think of is sending it to samsung or something and say something like you were trying to update through kies and this happened ao you can get it repaired since its not your fault. I am leaning towards that this has to be an hardware problem since someone (XDA user FormeriPhoney) had the same issue with his. Hopefully it goes well with your Tab S!

Argh.. I talked to Samsung.. They said I would need to send the tablet to them and I would get it fixed/replaced but it would take 2-3 weeks. They have no advanced warranty to send a replacement out first.
The other (and more scummy) option is to go to Best Buy, buy a replacement, and then return this one as a DOA. It would save me 3 weeks of being without a tablet..
This sucks
Try POWER + VOL DOWN.
Hold for at least 30 secs.
If not you may find after a day or so the battery will fully deplete and then start charging.
Do you get any response on the pc when you plug it in?

Oh.. And no response on a PC.
Yeah. This sucks. The only good news is that I actually backed up a lot to the external memory card last week as I was planning to go lollipop soon. The bad news is that all my customizations and other stuff is not saved (book marks in books I'm reading, etc). My titanium backup is from the first week I got my tablet.
But this is exactly why I won't get a phone without an external memory card. I would have lost everything.

IT"S ALIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I woke up this morning,, resigned to no tablet.. still debating on going to Best Buy and getting a new one.. But I have 12 models coming in today for auditions.. So really don't have time.. But I NEED a tablet for notes with these auditions.
I walk over to the tablet laying dead on the cable.. and try plugging it in... and suddenly.. 0% comes on the screen.. it's sooo beautiful.. I want to make out with the tablet.. My heart leaps with happiness..
I turn on the tablet.. and it boots!!!!! It gets into Android.. and Nova Prime pops on the screen! But.. just as I couldnt get any happier.. it shuts down... It doesnt like booting at 0%.. So I wait another 3 min, half breathless... 1%!!! And I boot again. This time it sticks and I'm able to boot successfully into Android.
So here is my question. WTF happened? How do I avoid this?? Not being able to do a hard reset is some really mess up [email protected]#$%, If I was on a plane or other kind of trip, I would have been pissed... Let alone the wasting of literally 2-3 hours last night trying every single button combination for 2-3min at a time.
I'm surprised hard reset didn't work. I'd try it now it's working just so you know what to expect when you need it.
It may just be a one off. My tablet went into sd card mode once for no reason and that scared the heck out of me. I couldn't do anything. Left it overnight and after the battery ran down it started charging and then booted.
Never done it since.

Yup. Holding down the vol - and power after 20 seconds rebooted the tablet.
I would kill for a hard reset pinhole in the tablet.. Or a faster way to quick drain the battery.
Does the microusb port supply power when the tablets is turned off, if it does connect an usb device that will drain the power faster, like an portable hdd.
John.

Only when it dropped into sd card mode did it not work.

Hi there,
Earlier today I plugged my tablet in to charge and left the room. When I came back, the screen was on (very dim) with the Samsung splash logo running. The tablet does not react to anything. Holding the power button changes nothing (so it doesn't turn the tablet off). I unplugged the charger hoping the battery will slowly drain and turn the device off for me. Any tips?
My device is rooted btw.
e: holding power, volume up + down for a few seconds made the tablet reset. All fine now.
I'm experiencing the same behavior meanwhile on two different German SM-T800s. Both have been charged, diconnected (everything still OK) and lay unused for a few hours. Upon picking them up, the screen displayed the above mentioned Samsung Logo.
Here are a few facts about the Tablets:
Purchased and made a OTA update to LP (5.0.2)
Rooted using CF-Auto-Root
Kernel: 3.4.39-4620222 [email protected] #1 Fri Apr 3 09:48:41 KST 2015
Buildnumber: LRX22G.T800XXU1BOD1
SE for Android Status: Enforcing SEPF_SM-T800_5.0.2_0022 Tue Jun 23 14:43:13 2015
There haven't been any updates or modifications of apps or Android itself, which might be seen in a causal context.
As Grawl mentioned the tablet doesn't react to anything. I tried the following on one device
Long press of power button
Power button + vol up + home button
connecting to PC via USB, device is not recognised (Kies is trying to establish a connection, but eventually failing)
connecting to a usb charger
I noticed a significant generation of heat right between the camera and the Samsung logo on the backside, I normally only notice when I've been gaming for a long time. Both have the original Book Case Cover attached.
I decided to let the tablet discharge and see what happens. After letting it lay overnight, without the cover I was anxious and again tried to press power button + vol up + home button and this time the screen went blank and the tablet booted up, which felt a bit longer than usual. I've started the tablet a few times since and everything seems to be back as before this freeze up.
Could it be a 'heat' issue or does anyone have a clue as to where we might look for a cause? Any help is really appreciated.
To add more information:
- I also updated to 5.0.2 using OTA update
- Also rooted using CF-auto-root
- Kernel: 3.4.39-4403645 [email protected] #1 Tue Mar 17 11:45:21 KST 2015
- Build: LRX22G.T805XXU1BOCC
- SE Status: Enforcing SEPF_SM-T805_5.0.2_0022 Tue Jun 23 15:38:49 2015
I don't think heat was the issue (in my case). It was a rainy day with temperatures of around 20C. The week before I used the tablet outside, when it was 35C+. I made no changes or installed new apps 24 hours prior to this incident.
I mentioned 2 devices and was expecting the second one to be handed to me by my parents. But they took matters in their own hands.
They let the SM-T800 drain the battery and connected it to a charger when the screen was all black (no Samsung Logo anymore). They told me that the green battery symbol appeared, just as it does on a switched off device that's charged. Unfortunatly it wasn't possible to see what would have happened, when the device would be fully charged, as my mom, in her infinite wisdom, decided to boot it into recovery mode (as I had asked her to try that two days prior , which didn't result in any reaction at that time). After choosing 'reboot system now' the T800 started flawlessly and continued to work in that way since.
Still no clue as what might have caused that.
cross posting but we can't delete so:
it just happened to me right now, what a rush ! finally , holding power, volume up + down for a few seconds made the tablet reset
( while connected on usb) once booted the battery was at 60% , WTF was that ?
I had a similar issue. As of 13 hours ago my Tab S was fine. I went to go use the tablet maybe 4 hours ago and I saw the screen dim and samsung logo there (just as was the case with the OP). The tablet had been in my bag, so maybe it accidentally rebooted or something while it was in there?
I did the power button + vol up + vol down reset trick and on reboot it worked fine. It was at 7% when it rebooted :S, but it was around 37% when I was using it last so this makes sense.
I also have a rooted tablet running stock...
Hi, I am desperately trying to revive my Tab S 10.5. It went blank a couple of days ago, the battery should not have gotten empty, but my first action was to plug in the charger. Didn't work of course.
Then I googled and ended up here. I have tried various button combinations, with charger connected and disconnected. Also while connected to my computer, but maybe Ubuntu doesn't count on this occasion.
I fear I wasted my chance for the magic power + vol up + vol down by trying other combinations before it.
My only hope now is if any one of you wizards could talk me throu a magic spell for reviving my precious Tab S 10.5 LTE, or maybe link to an howto guide. Please :-\

Thank you very much for the reply. Unfortunately it does not work in my case. I am not sure which one is volume down so I plugged in the charger and held power + one of the volumes for about 20-30 seconds. I then unplugged, waited maybe 10 seconds, plugged the charger back in and held power + the other volume, also without succes.

Leave your charger plugged in for a while. A totally dead battery will not be able to boot the tablet until it has some juice. I'd also check the charger or swap it.
After a short while try again. VOL DOWN is the one closest to the power button.

But need time and tools so not tonight. If any one posts a miracle tip before I crank my Tab Open, I will stick i sign with the screen name of that person in the ground of the moon, whenever I get there.

Impatience is my nightly name. I got the back cover off, it was Hard on my finger nail but even harder on my nerves. Then I fiddled with some incredibly-fragile-looking cables and got the battery out. As I am writing this I'm letting the residue energy disappate from my Tab corpse, before attempting resurrection. I did hold the power button 20-30 seconds after removing the battery.
Note, this was tougher on the nerves than replacing the camera module on my LG G4, wich was fairly easy.
Now, by the power of geeks and The starship Enterprise, Reassemble!
---------- Post added at 11:24 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:02 PM ----------
Note, The tiny cover for the Ir blaster came off, keep your eyes on it. I got it back fine thou.
However, plugging in a charger and holding power + vol down still does nothing magic. Thinking I'm to leave the charger plugged in over night.

HTC M8 doesn't boot red LED flashing not charging
Hi,
I have big problems with my HTC M8. It is 11 month old.
I is rooted, has 4.16.401.10 firmware, Android Revolution HD 43.0 and
S-off SunShine.
In the evening I put it on the charger with 61% battery left. The next morning it didn't start up anymore and the red LED was flashing.
The battery didn't charge and so long it doesn't boot up at all, I can't connect it to the PC. It is only shows the big battery sign when I connect it to the charger which disappears some seconds later.
I didn't want to send it to HTC for guarantee, because I couldn't put on stock software.
My lokal handy-doctor changed the battery... nothing!
He changed the USB connection... nothing.
The red LED keeps flashing, the battery doesn't charge, it only becomes warm, I cannot turn it on. I have tried to press the power-volume+ -volume- buttons, nothing.
I think HTC will charge me, if I sent it for guarantee, or does anyone have other experience?
What should I do? Any idea?

That was one of the first things which I tried. It has no effect.
Try power+vol up, and also power+vol down, with and without wall charger connected. I've seen a couple people have luck with that. Otherwise, if it still won't work, its pretty much bricked.
Especially since you've already had a new battery installed, it may be a problem on the mainboard.

Since you've had a 3rd party take apart the phone, replace the battery, and replace the USB port, your warranty is void.

As you tried all the things I suggested with no luck, I agree its probably a hardware problem.
This would have been justifiably covered under warranty, since its a hardware problem. And since the screen doesn't come on, they wouldn't have known it was ever bootloader unlocked, custom ROM, etc.
But now that you've had a repair shop open it, it will be obvious to HTC the phone has been opened and they will probably charge you for repair.

This isn't the "same problem" unless you (like the OP) took it to a repair shop, had them replace the battery and then the USB port? I doubt it.
Posting "I have the same problem" is just lazy, and doesn't give us the proper info for anyone to properly help.
How did this condition come about, did you just find the phone in this condition? Or were you flashing anything or any other actions to cause this condition?
Plug the wall charger (not connected to computer) overnight. Then hold the power and vol up buttons for a minute or 2, and see if there is any change.
Also try a different charger and cable.

Ok, sorry for the lazy answer.
So, yesterday the phone works fine, when i go to sleep.
Today, the alarm clock sounds, I woke up, and when i take the phone, the screen is black. Therefore, it didn't work.
I used another charger and cables, but don't work.
The S.O is sense stock, only had custom recovery, but I never used.
If i plug it to the computer, isn't recognized.
Maybe, you can know any solution for that?
A lot of times, I try, with power + vol up and power + vol down, for around 20 seconds.
Thanks for all help, but my phone didn't change the red flashing.
I think I have to accept that my phone died the red flashing death. RIP

I specifically said to hold power + vol up for 1 to 2 minutes. 20 seconds isn't enough in some conditions.

Nothing shows up in Device Manager (if you are using PC)? Such as with an exclamation point by it?
No message about Qualcomm drivers?

I try again yesterday, hold the 3 buttons of 1-2 minutes. After that, hold power and vol + for the same time and any signals.
If i use my PC, doesn't recognize, didn't install drivers, or something else.
Installed Viper Rom 5.0.2 running normally for around a month.
I plugged the phone as usual for charging in night at around 15% battery level.
In morning phone was dead.
Left it charging for a while but unable to switch it back on.
No led comes up while charging.
Did lot of research online and Tried all methods like pressing Power + Up or Power + Down or Power + Up + Down for a while for switching the phone on.
But no response from the phone
Also when I put in the micro-usb socket (when attached to charger or computer) while pressing power + volume up buttons the led flash orange for a second.
Connected with PC shows up as QHSUSB_BULK under device manager.
Please help in reviving my phone.
Thanks

How long is "a while"? Let it charge for several hours (overnight) and try another cable and charger, in case the first one is broken.
Then try to hold power+vol up (or power+vol up+vol down)for a minute or more.
The fact it flashed an LED at all is a good sign. A true brick usually has not LED response.
OoohhhI KNOW...
****...i hope i am doing this rite...
Anyway...what you do is so the volume up , power , and the return buttons all at one time...until it turns on....leave alone so it can reboot.
It should be good to go...
Seriously i found if you do this to any device acting unusual...even for
volume issues...check your devices cpu..if it runs hot a lot,
i found this to be related somehow in the htc..
Call me c r a zy
You have to do it longer...if you have no reply...dude this works ..
Or your phone is Effingham dead dude.....

Naa nothing worked...
led comes on (just for a second) when I keep pressing the power button and put in the cable to the phone.
Also I noted that when I plug in the cable a bit further than the exact slot of charging point led stays for 4-5 second then goes off.
very frustrating it has become...
HTC M8 Completely Dead
Finally I sent the M8 for hardware check and repair.
But unfortunately it was completely dead for no reason.
I left the hope and bought a new phone....
NO Solution at last...
HTC should help me out here...
There phone is completely dead... in just less than 2 years and that to with normal usage (without extreme usage)
I hope someone takes the message to htc for the problems the customers are facing from there devices..
They should just replace such devices with new one for satisfying the customers who had believed in there devices and paid premium amount for the same.
I have had it plugged in all night, and tried the following ;
Hold power for 1 minute
Hold power and volume up for one minute
Hold power and volume down for one minute
Hold all 3 buttons for one minute
None of these worked.
I have plugged it into a PC but there is no connection.
Is there anything else I can do?
*EDIT* Fixed it! https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=83649851&postcount=7
Its dead phone. What do you want some magic to turn it on? If it dosnt want to turn it on its dead phone and you cant do anything about it.
You might be right, but in the 20 years of owning mobile phones I have never had one that simply "died" before. I've ordered a new charge port as I think it might be to blame.

Pressing pwr + volume down or volume up won't turn on device.
You're not saying if device can enter to recovery nor fastboot or If your device is unlocked or not or if you have some screen as the logo or if you have some vibration, some led blinking, or if you let it charging with screen on (it must be screen burning) or if device was off while charging...
The phone has no sign of life. No led, no screen on. Nothing.

Well, there is not much you can do here, it could be a damage at the hardware level, probably in the port charger or at emmc/motherboard.
Also the overcharging or the kernel panic produced for some overheating can make that device won't boot.
The only you should try at software level is this https://c.mi.com/thread-1479882-1-0.html
I fixed it! After replacing the charging port it still didn't work.
However I read somewhere that disconnecting then reconnecting the battery connector inside the phone would work so I tried that and it worked.
Phone back working fully.
