The sound quality of the V500 is, simply put, awful. But only if you run the stock rom. If you try a rom like CyanogenMod, you'll discover the sound is vastly improved. No more tunnely sound, no more distortion at low volumes, no more muddy higher frequencies. V500's stock rom has some weird bad quality software audio modifications/DSP filters doing their filthy job somewhere. Has anybody any idea how it is possible to make a stock, rooted version match the sound quality provided by a rom like CM11? Maybe somehow checking if there is indeed some audio processing taking place and stripping that out with a mod? How can one even begin to do this kind of thing? The bad sound is the only reason keeping me away from the stock rom, which I otherwise am really fond of.
You could have a look at this.

I use it on my gpad and my old phone (running cm10.1).
It's worth backing up your rom and flashing it, the backup is in case you get bootloops.

Ok, I just tried that, but still there's no way to disable the already applied DSP forced by LG on this one. I have come to terms with it though, and maybe in the future I might use a custom rom again (I really like the stock one). Thanks for bringing up that app though, never knew it existed!

I don't think I can, because there is no DSP app on stock v500. What I mean by DSP is actually the digital signal processing they transparently apply to their sound and not an application such as cm's dsp mamager.

Could anybody tell me how to enable this feature for this phone.
Please do not give the obvious answer because I already tried with all zip files uploaded in other threats.
I know there is a manual way for activating this option but I would really appreciate if you can upload a zip file to be directly flashed in this phone.
Thanks in advance

They only work on sony phones. What people are seeing is a placebo effect. Image rendering is part of the system as well deeply embedded in the linux kernel drivers. Placing two files with in system/etc with certain permissions does nothing. The build prop edit also does nothing. It is totally bypassed.
In no way were system files patched or hacked or anyway by this. You would have to hack the image process library and patch the required system files. As well hack and patch apk files that take advantage of this.

I can notice the audio different between with the bravia engine and not.
I used to have a sony walkman cell phone and listen at least 1 hour everyday during driving for 2 years. When I switched to the samsung s2 phone and i noticed the S2 audio is weaker then my sony.
I flashed the beastmod 4.0, i can hear the audio is very closed to the sony phone. I noticed the audio different before I've checked the change log, so this is not my mentally thinking. It's the fact.
1 thing I need to clarify, I do hear the big different if I am using my car audio speaker. But if I use the cell phone speaker or the earphone, honestly, I don't notice much. I believe the cell speaker or the earphone can't able to handle the best part. But the bravia engine does work on the samsung S2.
For the video or picture part, I don't know about it.

The bravia engine has nothing to do with the sound. Also it really has nothing to do xcloud. There are a whole bunch of kernel patches for the qualcomm processor online that boost the the volume you hear. By 20%. The qualcomm chip has dsp manager built in. A few tweaks would get the volume louder than what it is.
The bravia engine is image rendering. Which literally does not work. Samsung devices do not even have the correct system files or services which would activate it. This has been done on various devices the only devices its known to work on is xperia arc devices. Also bravia engine has not been open source. Either so you would need to do some serious hacking as well.

The only logical method would be to edit the standard media profiles, hack the camera, and change the way compression works in the gallery. Thats why on other roms its looks diffrent. Than on beastmod. I will also add that sony line only has LED-backlit LCD, capacitive touchscreen. Ours is a super amoled + not only would you have to reverse engineer to get the kernel drivers that make the bravia engine works sinces it is not open source. You would have to port them as well to make it work with super amoled drivers.

So, many of you are aware of how abysmally low the speaker volume is on the phone after getting the JB update. Unfortunately all the information on it is scattered among several different posts and threads, and I just wanted to get some clear answers and use this as an informational post for others who are annoyed by this bug.
What, if anything, do we know about why it happens? Is there a definitive fix system-wide, or do I have to use volume boosting apps? I run franco kernel, are there going to be any compatibility issues with proposed fixes? I like using mostly stock JB, can I get a ROM that makes minimal changes to the original while still fixing the volume issue?
After randomly doing a search for volume fix a few minutes ago I saw this. Did search for same exact reason (gnex 4.1.1). Awesome beats (one of multiple equalizer apps) is said to work. I'm gonna try it in the morning (so as not to have a very annoyed girlfriend at 4am). There's probably a good amount more info on this. As for the last part..pure-ish 4.1.1 aosp Roms are very pleasing...like buttah lol.

If you have Franco.kernel, download his app from the play store (it costs a few bucks, not super expensive). In the settings tab there is an option to increase the max sound volume. I recommend setting it to 2; if you set it to 3 sometimes the sound will cut out on max volume.

I have no idea if this is correct information or not, so take it with a grain of salt, but I read earlier today in the Franco thread that that setting only affects the headphone volume, not speaker volume. I can tell you it does nothing for the volume on my GNex (speaker). I love this phone dearly, but I absolutely hate the low volume. I never have music on my phone, but I use the speaker phone multiple times a day while at work in my truck. I've yet to find a fix that actually increases the speaker volume on calls, and I've tried just about every ROM and tweak around. I'm beginning to think the people that swear some of these fixes work are just having a placebo effect.

The dev says it doesn't work with the system stuff (like ringtones, notifications, etc.) Works for music volume on JB though. Check it out, seems like a lot of people with various JB roms are using it successfully. It's kinda hard to be sure it's not working without trying it. I assure you..again..I'm using it..it works for music. Re-read what the dev said.

I try Volume+ on my jelly bean nexus. Only the music volume work, not the system volume (like ringtones). I missed so many call because the ringtone vol is not loud enough even at max vol level. I know I can install ROM, but I prefer stock right now.
There are no mods available as of now for boosting ringtone or notification volume for galaxy nexus on jelly bean. All the mods like awesomebeats/volume+ and also the default musicfx only work on music volume.
I have tried all the mods on all JB Roms which claim to boost ringtone volume, but none really work. The effect if at all is very marginal.
The problem lies with the way google has implemented Jelly Bean. The solution has probably go to come from them until one of the geeks here manage a workaround.
Lets see if volume+ developer manages to release a working version.
I am currently using volume+ on AOKP milestone6(ICS 4.0.4) to great effect.
There is no point in upgrading to JB unless the ringtone volume level problem is addressed. What is the use in owning a phone which you cannot here ringing.
Really need a stock solution. The reason I have the Galaxy Nexus is to avoid flashing madness with the stock experience. Is it a tracked bug?

Tested and working on this rom
V1.
1080P Video @ 20Mb/s
720P Video @ 20Mb/s
JPEG Quality 100%
High-Medium-Low quality = 100%
Auto ISO In camera will max out to 1200 instead of 1600 now. Switched off denoise! and switched on Touch Contrast..
Sound Recording quality Increased to 196000Kb/s.
Flash the zip below in recovery and enjoy!
Cool will try it.
To get the best quality, wouldn't it be best to take the values from a touchwiz rom? Am I wrong?
Using yours, the pictures look like this
and here is what it looks like using touchwiz default media_profiles.
Download link: http://www.mediafire.com/?96e4gkjhaqatbng
Im SUPER excited that there is some one working on this. I have never been impressed with the CM camera (stock or focal) and always wished it was on par with the TW camera.
That being said, I'll download this and give it a try soon.
Thanks!
Seems to work, didnt fix the green lines on ffc... Thanks OP!!

I wasn't saying the libs, but the media_profile.
I know the libs wouldn't work.
Am I the only one that notices that the stock cm gallery is like 2 zoomed in even when is zoomed out all the way...... Even if you download an app from the market it doesn't show that is so zoomed in...... Couldn't this be what's messing up the quality of the pictures since is way 2 zoomed in even when you zoom it out as much as you can ????

Same here. . Only reason why I keep going back to TW roms cause of the camera. Whenever I use cm/aokp/etc, something always happens to where I have to use the camera and the quality isn't that good .

The media_profile.xml doesn't really do what you think it does. It's not what controls the quality of audio/video/photos.
That my friend, is done in the .apk or the kernel depending on the type of ROM. In AOSP, it's mostly kernel controlled vs TW which can be adjusted when you decompile the apk. I can take the TW camera up to 30Mbps on 1080p though it's pointless.
OP, why not take the audio bitrate to 320kbps? Would be much better and the phone can handle it. Also, what's the sampling rate? 44.1 or 48? Lastly, do the increased bitrates apply to both cameras or just the back camera?
If you need any help with this, PM me. I did a TW mod like this but would like to help in any way I can on this.

I'll see what I can do. I suggest checking the quality of my work before adding it lol. I'm pretty drugged up at the moment :silly: almost 30 and just now got my tonsils removed.
Installed this in S4 for Sprint (jfltespr) and it worked like a charm. No more green lines on the front facing camera. Cheers.
passwords log file
How come there is a password logger file in side this zip?
Where do you see a password logger? I only see 2 .so files for the camera and the media_profile.xml ...
On my S4, the video camera does not work constant. In dark rooms, it still records with [email protected] and on bright szenes, it uses [email protected] with this patch. The only ROM where i got a constant 30 fps in all situations is the original one from Samsung.

Hello.
As this is my first thread. I was browsing thru Htc One (m8)'s Themes and apps section and i saw a Harman Kardon audio mod. I'm just asking if it is already available for the One[m7]. [big fan of Harman Kardon ]
Thanks!

I'm not a dev but there's a small group of us on xda sharing intel to make it work. I'll send u the link of the man to talk to. u might have to send some files so he can make it work if he's willing. I tried doing the work myself with some help. it shows in settings but doesn't work cause it needs more work
It's currently impossible to port due to libraries being specifically compiled for the Snapdragon 801 chipset. The same applies for working BoomSound effect on sense 6 ROMs. We won't be having h/k audio anytime soon, maybe in the distant future though (but I highly, highly doubt that!) As for BoomSound, we must wait until official sense 6 update because only HTC can compile the libraries to be compatible for our chipset.

I have BoomSound and it's awesome.. sounds like adding a subwoofer.. when I port hk it replaced BoomSound.. reach out to this guy.. he gave us some ideas to make it work. firmware and maybe 3/4 files need more modding.. if he won't help a professional dev can def make it work http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2737498
That's not the point. The reason why it can be ported to all m8 variants is that they all share the same chipset and DAC. The h/k audio cannot be ported due to libaudioflinger. Libaudioflinger is what calls these audio libraries when a particular sound effect is enabled. If the code for the effects are not in libaudioflinger, they will simply not work. Now the thing is, libaudioflinger is compiled very specifically. Firstly, using m8's libaudioflinger so simply make the OS crash at boot. Secondly, our current libaudioflinger does not have the codes for h/k in the library so h/k can't be called. Thirdly, it's not just libaudioflinger that we need to get h/k working, they also depend on hw audio libraries which are obviously chipset specific. If we don't have those dependencies then we won't have this working for our chipset.
We can't simply mod libraries to make it work. This requires complete recompiling with the correct codes which will call the h/k libraries when the audio effect is enabled. Only HTC can do this as they are licensed to have the source code and use it.
Also, how is BoomSound working for you? No sense 6 port have BoomSound working!

That makes a lot of sense on issues were having.. I tested it on m7 viper Rom.. I know everyone say it don't work but when I looked again it said it won't work on internal speaker. So I plug my headset in and when I turned it on it soun ded like I was sitting in a car with a badass bass system. I don't know if it's supposed to do that. I combined it with viper4android because it has similar features like Harmon kardon and doesn't replace existing sound mods like Harmon kardon..

Right, so BoomSound is not working still, what you are hearing is just the work of v4a!
BoomSound is not working at all, weather it's speakers or headphones. Have you tried turning the switch on/off? It won't make a difference. At all.

Maybe it's just some equalizer which maybe sounds like h/K but it never could be the real one especially because like you said h/K needs the m8's specific audio drivers...

Just a simple flashy that will completely disable Beats audio on most Sense 6.0 ROMs. This was only tested on the official stock ROM so no promises of compatibility elsewhere. Just download and flash to free yourself!
This also enables the Music Channel feature of Sense 6.0 that Verizon or someone decided to disable.
This mod was created by FlyHalf205. So go find a post of his and thank it.

Yay!!!
i thought you could turn beats off in settings?
(sorry its been a while sense ive been on sense. )

You can but there is a counter-eq that makes music sound worse, that way it forces you to leave beats on.
is beats that bad sounding? i don't mind it. is there a benefit to using this?

The benefit is quite a noticeable difference in highs and mids. Lows are returned to their normal levels and no longer overpower the mix.
It lets you enjoy just how good this phone sounds.

I always wondered why the phone didn't sound good, and then with Beats on, it's just weird...

Makes sense, I always suspected sound quality with beats turned off was sabotaged to make beats seem better by comparison. This is something you can find in the code? Is this something that would also be true in Google Play roms? Or is the beats-disabled sound only dulled in Sense?

Either reflash the ROM or restore the backup you made before you installed it.

Worked like a charm, though I'm on ERA now and have Beats disabled anyway.
Thanks for the Mod. I've used it to remove Beats on my T-Mobile M7 Headset running ARHD 91.1.
I flashed this, not realizing that it's for only for a Verizon M7 headset. Everything still works (and Beats is now removed), but I have a SIM Card error in my notification bar. Any idea how I can fix this? It's more of an annoyance at this point.
Thanks again.
Can this be updated or will it work for Sense 7?

Sorry, I'm on the Nexus 6 now, so no it won't be updated.
See if you can dig around and figure it out.
If anyone figures out how to do this could they make a version for 5.1.1 GPE?
