Official KitKat Build is up - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

Looks like the rollout is, or will be, coming soon.

Seems sooner than expected.

Guess this means more stable KitKat ROMs?

This is great, much sooner than I thought. It seems to me like no one is excited for this like everyone was for the 4.3 update.

stoked!

I'm definitely excited, I have had no good experiences with 4.3

That means my S3 will still hold some value when I trying to sell it in cl, lol...

Can't wait. Android 4.3 for our phone has given me more problems and unsatisfactory performance than expected.

That link say nc4
Md4 Rooted Modded....... Flawless

Still on the update before 4.3. Never updated because of knox. I rooted and put the stock 4.3 rom on however unrooted due to some issues. Won't see kitkat till someone makes a rom. What's different from it and 4.3?

It's not official, yet, as it went from NC3 to NC4 yesterday. What it does mean is that big Yellow is getting ready to roll the release soon, since it's showing up on the device manifest.

The naming convention is:
N= year (2014)
C= month (March)
#= build
They are still smoothing it out, it won't be official till the OTAs start rolling out.
This thread is kinda pointless though, as there is already a thread on RDFs here-http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2117229

These RDF files just mean that they are working on new builds. The KitKat versions started showing up at the end of February. It's not unusual for it to take 2 to 3 months for them to work out the bugs and get the ROM ready for release. That would put the release into late April or early May if things go the way they have in the past. And yes this thread duplicates the existing RDF thread.

Yep, the RDFs could go for weeks or months before a final OTA is pushed. The better indicator is to watch the Samsung open source center, when the post updated source code the OTA should start pushing in a day or two after.

Yeah the 4.1.2 for the S2 didn't get released until build 27... Though sextape brought us a bunch of leaks so we got to test a lot of them out... Wish I had those kind of connections.

I came in here thinking there was an official kit kat rom

Can we root or install roms on the GS3?

My Galaxy nexus just died. I dropped it and cannot read the sdcard inside it. I tried CWM recovery, and it gives me io errors when trying to flash it..
I have 3 options:
Repair, get the S3 or wait for the next nexus if it comes out on october 29th.
What would you guys suggest I do? I really love the Nexus brand because i get all the updates directly from Google.. I also love Android 4.1.2 and I know the S3 does not have it..

Not Trolling at all, I know 4.1.2 is suppoded to be released anytime soon on the S3. Just not sure in Canada. My friends who owns S3s are still on 4.0.4.

you need to slow down and not post until you realize where you are. the is XDA. a place where things in the mainstream are not. that being said. we have Android 4.1.2. unlike the rest in the mainstream that don't. so just take my advice and search around the forums before creating threads of your own.
The answer is Yes, I am currently on the Cyanogen 10 Nightlies ... Everything works great aside from some random screen artifacts in youtube and the overall very functional and worth the dabble.

Well, technically it's not out for AT&T or Verizon or TMO.
But it is officially out for Sprint now I think. Released a day or two ago from what I read.
But most or all of the GSIII's have 4.1.2 available via custom ROM installs.
Really? Your title can't be serious. 1. Your on XDA. 2. You made mention of CWM, so you know rooting. 3. One tab back leads you to all GS3 development - I'm assuming you found your nexus rooting info on here so you're well aware of how the site is organized.
Is it April 1st again? There's another thread asking about rooting tutorial.

Matthew, the "tomorrow" thing is an inside joke from another thread. The idea is that HTC will release an ICS update tomorrow but tomorrow will never come because by then it will be today.
HTC hasn't announced any release dates since missing the August deadline. They haven't officially said they won't update, but at this point it appears HTC and Verizon have quietly abandoned our phone.

Why does everyone think they said we will get the update in August, technically they said they will decide by then if they will release the update to us, kind of using lawyer terms to keep them from commiting to an actual deadline. So technically they havent missed the deadline and it could be 100 years from now and they still wouldnt have lied, nkt agreeing with their practices, actually their deceipt disgusts me...

That's just a bugfix, though, not an ICS upgrade. Maybe a little bit closer would be the Thunderbolt ICS OTA that's announced, but even that doesn't matter because what the devs need is the ICS kernel source for the DInc2. Nothing else will help.

"Good things come to those who wait"
As of right now, the 4.1.2 roms for our phone is adequate enough. Most 4.2 roms that are currently out for other GS2 equivalents still have several issues that need to be resolved or are in beta. In my opinion, it is much better to wait for a stable 4.2 rom to upgrade to from the current 4.1.2 roms.
So to the devs who are working on getting 4.2 to our T989, take as much time that's needed. It is better to improve a good rom than to fix a broken one, perfection is key. Cheers!
So wait. Are we officially on 4.1.2? I thought s2x wouldn't be getting it until the start of next year? Or was it 4.2?
Now i am confused.

IMO i think that 4.2 will be released which will be after the international version gets released and who knows when the international version gets released and it will take tmobile a couple of months to customize it so that they can release it for our devices so what i believe in is that when you guys finally hear news about the international version being released then i think you guys can post some threads that are accurate and not confusing most of the people on 4.2
Also on another note i think the thing you guys should put your hopes on is cyanogenmod 4.2.1 which still isnt as stable but for you people who are impatient
and like previously stated in this thread even when it gets released it still might not be a daily rom that you can rely on everyday to use to its full potential so sorry for anyone who got there hopes up

[INFO][Discussion][Screenshots] JB Virgin FL14!!!

Hey everyone! Here's a nice surprise for you!
We were able to get our hands on the Virgin FL14 JB build and have been running some tests on it. We have received permission to post the full build but do not have a set date as of yet.
Once we have permission to post it we will be posting the download links at rwilco12.com.
In the meantime we will try to test everything we can possibly think of and post the results here. We'll update as we find more.
99.9% of our testing on this build has been done by Traylunch and MohoGalore. They have done an incredibly thorough and detailed job. I will be posting their initial findings in Post #2. They will be posting more as they find more.
Please feel free to ask questions! We'll answer all that we can (except for the, "Can you sneak me a copy early" question ).
Proceed to Post 2 for findings and Post 3 for screenshots.
Enjoy!

Findings:
USB Mass Storage is available in this build.
Auto haptic option is in the sound menu as default.
Video calling option by default on dial pad (fails, but the option is there).
Mobile hot spot works, just like the Sprint JB builds.
Apps and widgets disappear from home screen as we have seen on other JB builds.
SMS, MMS and Voicemail all work for Sprint users.
Great GPS signal. No delay reported by testers.
[*]And yes, all internal storage is still wiped.

Asked about this to Team Sextape - FL14 for Virgin and FL16 (Sprint) will probably be it for a while. Consider how far they've come from no JB releases to "Okay, we're done after this...". Each one is a considerable risk to leak to the masses and so while they're great I'm more than happy to respect their wish to slow down the leaks for now. Besides, not much changing in FK23->FL04->FL16...
We appreciate how many leaks Sextape has gotten to us. Thanks to you and the whole team for all that you have done.

Slight correction... There are binaries for mysid (toro) available to the public, but 4.2.2 (JDQ39) is still the latest factory image set on developers.google.com... The wait is going to be pretty long as well - VZW has no history of timely updates, so don't expect to see the OTA until Thanksgiving at the earliest.
Like I said in the other thread, Sprint's version will most likely get the 4.3 update first, followed by Verizon a number of weeks later.
And, once AOKP updates their nightlies for 4.3....I'm updating.

The binaries ARE posted for VZW at https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/drivers#torojwr66v. You are correct in that there is no factory image available. The fact that binaries are available indicates that a build was completed and is now in the Verizon approval process.
I would build it, but I need a 64-bit PC.
EDIT: Never mind. I'll build it when I get home.
somehow I think Verizon will manage it to drag their feet for at least 6month from today (if that) before they release 4.3 for us..
Would the master key issue be a reason for Google to push the issue on Verizon for updating more quickly?
