[Q] Nexus Randomly Not Sending/Receiving Texts or Calls - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hello all!
So I am running the latest CM11 on my device and up until Sunday the 9th everything was fine. Sunday morning came along and I woke up to a text message to which I tried to reply. The hangouts app just sat there attempting to send it, then finally went to the "retrying" stage, then showed it failed to send. From this point the phone would not receive any more texts nor would it receive or make a call. I tried to call out and it just sat there at dialing. So I ended the call and it just sat on the screen saying "Hanging Up" forever. Finally it closed after several minutes and any other call I tried to send out a small message box came up saying "Call Failed". So I rebooted the phone and it worked fine again (as in I could make and receive numerous calls and RECEIVE texts. The moment I went to send out another text again be it the first or second text after reboot it would go back to not sending it out and returning to the same state where no call or text could be received or sent. So I blamed the SIM card. I went to the store and got a brand new one, walked out with a smile as it sent out a call right away after it was dropped in. Then I went to send a text and the same thing happened again. Frustrated as I was, I spent the day returning my phone all the way back to stock 4.3 and locking it. Then did a nice clean install of CM11. All was working well for a day or so then the problem returned again.
Some things I have noticed:
It only occurs at some point after I have sent out a text message.
When it bugs out going to Settings>Wireless & Networks>More>Mobile Networks> Access Point Names it will just sit here saying searching forever even though I am showing cell service in the status bar.

Just a heads up to anyone maybe with a similar issue. I attempted to dirty flash the older M4 Snapshot that was recently released and was met with a bootloop. So I went into recovery Wiped Data/Factory Reset, Wiped Cache, Wiped Dalvik, Format System and installed the M4 Snapshot. So far with 14+ hours I have not been met with the same problem. There must have been a commit in the CM11 branch after March 8th at some point that killed the phones sms and call ability after some point.

T-Mobile TP2 cannot receive text messages

Help. I am completely frustrated.
My tmobile touch pro 2 all of a sudden can not receive any text messages. When I switch out my sim card to another phone it gets texts immediately so there is nothing wrong there.
I've already tried resetting the phone many times and even left the battery out before doing so. When I send a text message to my own phone number from the phone I get a text back from the system administrator stating that the message was not delivered and that I should check the address and try again.
I've used other phones and texting services to try to send myself texts but nothing comes through. Is there anything else I can do?
Glad to see I was not the only one having this problem. I had to call customer service and they sent me a new phone.

Did you recently install any new apps? I had that problem at one time, and realized that it was the app that i downloaded that caused my text messages not to work. the app that casued the error for me was True Caller. Once i uninstalled the app and soft reseted my phone, the text messages worked perfectly again.
I hope this helps.

[Q] [HELP!] Expert Issue. Not receiving SMS messages.

Had Evo since day 1. Rooted right away and have been ROM-happy, flashing my favorite as developers release them. Went from Fresh to Myn to MIUI and am now on my favorite, most stable and reliable rom: Deck v1.
Problem:
9 days after switching to Deck I stopped receiving sms messages completely. This is not an issue of the notifications for sms being turned off, nor is it a ringer issue. The text never comes through. I can send texts without issue, no problem.
Tried to fix this in these ways:
•*I made sure I wasn't blocking any texts; this can be done at sprint.com > my account.
• I called sprint so they could remove/re-add my sms messages which usually fixes this type of issue.
• I restored a nandroid backup taken at a point when texts were working.
• I tried restoring the stock image - then updating profile. Still wouldn't receive.
• Obviously rebooted 35 times throughout the course of all this (i have to say it, somebody will ask )
• Full wipe etc.
Nothing worked.
Called Sprint knowing they couldn't do a damn thing and would probably stop listening if they knew my phone was rooted. Long story short they sent me in to get a new Evo. Was worth a shot, I wasn't convinced it was a hardware issue (how could it be, sms is not dedicated to a particular piece of hardware in the phone) but I went in and did the swap.
New Evo, unrooted, texts worked! but wait, that's not all.
9 days after rooting again and installing Deck v1 - poof - no incoming texts. The exact same issue.
WTF is going on here?? There is nothing in logcat, absolutely nothing happens on my side when somebody sends me a text.
Google voice texts are a good emergency workaround but I want my native texts. Is this a deck issue?? anybody else getting this? i;ve ggogled for weeks now and nobody has come accross this particular issue. Also this issue wont fix itself. i went a almost a week the first time without noticing i wasn't getting texts.
Have you tried a ##786# reset? You will need your MSL code. Also, it will wipe all data from your phone, so take that into account. When you ##786#, let the list load and then hit "menu", and "reset".
When I first flashed to a GingerSense rom, I lost the ability to send/receive MMS and I was not able to connect to 3G at all. 4G and WiFi worked, but the 3G was nonexistent to my phone. After calling Sprint several times, one tech told me to reset my phone this way. I told him I would have to call back because if my phone was going to get wiped, I had to back everything up first and it would take a while. After I backed up all my app/data with Titanium and made a NAND back-up, I did it and it got my phone working right.
Hopefully you get the same result. Good luck.

Flashed back to a Sense/stock rom to do just that. Didn't help.
Whenever somebody has issues like mine it usually involves sending AND receiving. For me it's strictly receiving.
People also center these issues around MMS. Sending MMS is not an issue for me. I can send everything. I can't receive a damn thing.
That certainly is an oddity. I've been using decks 1.2 since C, and am currently on Z. I've never had any issues with not receiving sms messages (as far as I know...I suppose it would take someone to tell me that they sent me a message and I never replied, which I haven't got yet) I have never really seen this issue, except on my buddies stock hero a couple weeks. His problem was that he had never deleted any of his texts, so literally had like 10k messages or more in there. Once I was finally able to get all his damn messages cleared out (took forever...he wouldn't let me factory reset it) he was able to start receiving texts again. I'm sure that's not your problem, because you've been flashing and wiping, surely your texts have been cleared out...unless you restore them all. That's the only time I've seen that. I would've suggested maybe it was an issue on sprints end, which would not be unheard of, but if that was the case it wouldn't have worked on your new unrooted evo when you got it.
I saw in deck's thread that you already deleted the telephony.db directory, and that had no affect for you. I really wish I had some suggestions for you, but that is just odd. My first guess would've been a problem with sprint.
EDIT: Also, are you using the GV and Sprint integration? I don't use it, but I saw that if some settings weren't correct with that (from the google voice website) that all messages will go thru google voice, and not thru the native messaging app. Could that possibly have anything to do with it, maybe?
If you have Sprint/Google Voice integration, that is the problem. There are some funky things going on with Google Voice lately. Can't send messages from Gmail to a Google Voice number and have it register as a cell sms. The message is automatically sent to and only goes to the Google Voice Inbox.
I've had some sms trouble with all ROMs, not simply Deck's. It sounds identical to your issue. Google is the only constant between all ROMs. My problem was resolved by going into Google Voice settings, unchecking "Receive text messages on this phone," saving changes, then rechecking it and saving those changes.
I have lost the ability to receive sms numerous times. I am convinced it is a Google/Sprint integration issue.
I cant get text messages either. I can send all day and im testing, flashing roms, recoveries, I just unrooted as a final solution (so i thought) and nothing. Same crap. If anyone has a fix or if the fix is on another thread let me know please, thanks. Other wise im just gonna root back and say F! text messages
If you're on MIUI and didn't wipe, when you flashed it can cause these issues. Try to reflash, after doing a full wipe.

[Q] SMS issue. Is it sprint, GV, or my phone?

I had this issue start this morning and it is really odd. I will recieve a notification on my phone that i have a text message, but its one i recieved earlier instead of the one that was sent and every message i recieve after that will show up as another copy of the same message. I can see the correct messages online in google voice but not on my phone. First thing i did was wipe data and flash cm9 again. That fixed it for a little bit, but then it started doing it again. Then I tried reflashing the modem, calling sprint and the ##RTN#. I'm about to odin back to EC05 and see if that works, but has anybody had this issue before?
i just odined back to stock and sent myself a message and all the missed messages flooded in, so i guess i fixed it. Going back to cm9 now.
Can an admin lock this thread, its solved.

texting delay with new aokp

Hey my question is seems like after installing the new aokp my texts are being delayed when I'm tying to send a text. When I send many at a time it fails to send. I went into app setting and forced stop and deleted the cache, restarted my phone any suggestions? I'm on Rogers btw

Not receiving texts

My wife's Capitvate Glide stopped receiving texts a couple of days ago. The phone is running stock ICS, not rooted. She can send texts just fine, and she can make and receive phone calls. ATT says they don't see anything wrong on their end. I've tried rebooting, pulling the SIM and battery, but it still doesn't receive texts.
Hi
I found that as a possible answer:
AT&T indicated that it was a problem with the network registration, given every piece of my phone's communication worked except for receiving SMS. This turned out to be true. The solution was to put the sim card in another phone, which overrode the network registration for my number. After about a minute, the second phone received all of the texts that the first had not been able to get, and then I could move the sim card back into my regular phone and receive texts as normal.

The woman at the ATT store did that and it did fix it, sort of. Later in the day the phone was still receiving texts but could not send them - it just said "Failed". I pulled the battery for about 15-20 minutes and that issue was fixed.
I think we'll be getting a new phone for my wife soon...
