Does anyone know with which application to do calibration proximity sensor on E988?
I tried these hidden codes
3845#*988#
5457#*988#
3845#*980#
5457#*980#
3845#*240#
5457#*240#
and none of them fit for e988.
The problem is that when i place the phone on my ear screen turns off,and i move phone away display not on. I tried all possible ROMs and hard reset and no help...
You can go to your build.prop and change your proximity delay that way. Or I know vanir and some others have the option to change that.

I tried that, nothing. I think it is hardware problem. When i press pleace on display in the top right corner sensor starts woking. It works for a while,5-6 minuts and then again the same problem occure.
Is it possible to solve this problem without replacing the whole display?

As you guys might have read my display got broken and i replaced it myself. However in the process I damaged a few thing. The home button does not work and the proximity sensor is broken. The problem with the proximity sensor would just be fixed by disabling the blank screen when calling. Can anyone make a odin package (cannot do update.zip due to broken home button). Or tell me how to disable this function?
Many thanks in advance!
Mine is broken too and now everytime i'm calling the screen turns black. Which is no problem except when you are calling a computer a needs to "2" to proceed.....
Does someone have a sollution?
See this post. it may help, but you need root.

SOLVED.
Used the free app ProximityScreenOff. Its in the market.
Make sure you select the Proximity sensor instead of the Light sensor in settings.

Not solved.
proximity screen off app.
Dosen't solve my problem with screen turn off, during call.
I have a default proximity sensor, which I need to disable.
I can do it, very easy with miui rom.
But I have tried and tried with Cyanogenmod without any luck.

Not really the place for a request, but hey, since it did not seem to bother anyone, go ahead!

Added some basic testing how-to. Let me know "ok" or "not ok". I will have to return my phone today if this is not a generic issue
250 views - no responses from the nexus owners?
anyhow, just realised LIGHT sensor works in daylight (at least from 10 to 160 lux). However, still no cookie on the proximity sensor - can anyone confirm or deny please?
My prox sensor works just fine. Not really had chance to check the light sensor as Ive only just bought the phone and had it set to full brightness. Ill post back shortly..
mine seems to be functioning fine here.

Right then i can confirm the light sensor works in mine too in daylight
Proximity sensor not though... anyone else?! this is really strange
Both work on mine.

Mine is OK as well.
Mine seems fine for both
Both work perfectly on mine! For the proximity sensor, try it during a call! It might be trivial but just saying.

AndroSensor says both work but auto brightness (auto dullness?) is useless and I triggered a keypad press while on a call...

see - thats exactly the point. The sensor does NOT work (on mine)
Proximity Sensor - will switch display off to avoid the keypress or other issues while on call when you are holding it to your face(ear). And re-enable display when moved away from the face
Autobrigh: measures ambient light and then adjusts brightness accordingly
you may have both confused?
check with AndroSensor:
proximity sensor - cover it with your hand (next to the front camera) and the values should change in AndroSensor - but they dont. neither does the display switch off during calls when detecting your face (actually just detecting "no light")
I will return my GN. I had enough.
The light sensor works according to AndroSensor but auto brightness simply dims the screen to a useless level. Likewise proximity sensor works (values are either 0 or 2 inches) but whilst the screen does indeed dim during calls key presses are still possible infuriatingly. Software fix would cure both.

Light sensor works fine.
Proximity sensor does not work. I think it stopped working after the volume fix OTA.
For my device, the proximity value changes fine however the screen doesn't turn on off when answering and ending a call. hv to lock the screen and unlock the screen manually to prevent mistouch..
Just tested and the screen turns off just fine for me on a call.

I know this topic is kind of old, but I'm still having the proximity issue, do you think I should return my nexus?
Mine doesn't work either, since 4.02 I think. Are there any settings that should be enabled for it to work like gprs or location services or is the proximity service always running?

Hi,
This week I'd noticed a little problem with my XP, when I unlock the phone, or remove the phone from my face after a call, there's a backlight lag of about 10 seconds. The screen is responsive, but I can't see a damn thing on it.
Who can help me?
This problem is most likely to be because of a damaged proximity sensor or light sensor. It also could be because of a damaged screen but I wouldn't count on that. Hope this helps!!!

Is there any way to test these sensors?
edit: I'am going to try this: https://market.android.com/details?id=ctsr.android.SensorTest&hl=nl
They don't show up in this test.
Maybe this is 'cause I've turned off auto backlight using some sort of script?
Dear all,
Seems some dust is stuck up on my i747s proximity sensor. I will get it cleaned at a later point, but for now I need to disable the proximity sensor. The phone screen just turns off as soon as I dial a number and wont come back up until the call has disconnected. So cannot access the screen while on call.
I am rooted and on CM11 (kitkat). So do not have the TW option to go and disable proximity sensor in call settings. There is an option to disable the driver using hardware disabler app but I found by searching that that is causing a lot of battery drain. Anyway if someone knows the driver name and location for the proximity sensor of i747 then please do share that.
I have tried a couple of sensor test apps and all report that the sensor is active but it has something close to it so basically the sensor is always thinking that its close to the ear.
So need any ideas to disable the proximity sensor completely or at least from being invoked as soon as I place a call. Thanks for any help.
Do you happen to have a screen protector on that's covering the sensor? It can cause the sensor to think its covered. Thus having your screen always off

Thanks for your reply. No Screen Protector on my phone. I have gone through a lot of search results and screen protector has been a common culprit but after hours of searching I think my only option is to disable the sensor. Long term I need to open the thing and clean up the sensor.

Bump...please help!
I am on latest firmware with latest bootloader COG5.
When i turned on the screen rotation feature the screen either doesn't rotate or it rotates to the opposite direction and doesn't return to the normal direction even i catch the device in portrait mode.
How to correct this?
Update :
I thought that the gyroscope sensor is responsible for this issue.
But it's accelerometer sensor when i make some tests on the sensor and tapped on upper part of the screen then the phone vibrated and the screen rotation fixed without need to restart the phone.
Make 2 or 3 tests on the sensor that in image test and on the graph button.
To enter the sensor menu tests dial *#0*#

I think this is a bug with c0g5.. Sometimes screen rotation locks up on stock c0g5.. I have tried toggling auto rotate but it doesn't work. ..
When I say locks up I am referring to one orientation or another.. The auto rotate fixates on a landscape view and won't toggle to the other view.. This happens infrequently. .. A reboot clears it up...

I tried to reboot and wipe cache and delvic cache and even factory default with no fix.
When i dial *#0*# and enter sensors and get in gyroscope sensor and perform gyro selftest it passes the test.
So does it mean that it's not hadware related issue?
