My tablet recently began entering a locked blue screen state devoid of text or icon. It holds there for one to three seconds and then reboots.
Prior to the start of this rebooting sequence trend I downloaded and installed the stock ROM listed on my signature, hoping that it would alleviate some issues with delay in screen tap response, some occasional heating during gaming along with what I perceived to be a little bit of driver related lag.
I haven't figured out when, why, or how it decides to reboot. But as far as I can tell it seems to be related to [behind the scenes machinery of] Google Play (GP). I suspect this because it has happened when I've launched GP or GP tried to do some updates or software installation.
Incidentally, though possibly unrelated, when I try to add an account via settings, at the sign in page, the device returns unable to sign-in message citing connectivity issues. I am in China, so I suspect this could all be related. To get around this issue, I log into a VPN service. This allows me to sign in and add the account to the device. However, in order to play any games, I must log off the VPN. But once the account has been added to the device, it more-or-less is able to access some of the Google services (at least the ones not outright blocked -such as drive and YouTube).
In my troubleshooting attempts, I have thus far done a cache wipe and factory reset from the boot menu. All to no avail.
At this point I need to live in constant fear of a sudden reboot, for I know not when it will strike next.
I would appreciate some suggestions on either what the issue might be, how to determine the cause, or how to solve it.
Thanks
Funny story...
So Kitkat has been released, for the TGY country code.. Yay!
P605ZSUCNE3_P605OZSCNE3_P605ZSUCNE1_HOME.tar
Is the md5 file to be put into the AP slot of Odin 3.09, for my tablet.
I was excited thinking this would address the issue.
Prior to flashing the ROM I factory reset from within the settings, then I went into the recovery boot menu and there I wiped the cache and did a factory reset once more.
Then I proceeded to setup and sign into my Google account, after flashing the ROM.
Naturally the tablet went ahead and started downloading and installing apps and updates from Google Play.
I was happy to see that it was progressing along swimmingly.
The screen dimmed down and then shutdown after period of inactivity (while downloading and installing apps in the background).
Occasionally, I'd click the home button to see tat everything was going as it ought.
I then noticed the screen turned black somewhat suddenly, without dimming first.
I thought little of it.But I went to check by pressing the home button... I figured maybe there's a little lag or the tablet is too busy installing, so I clicked the power button. Nothing; no response.
The tablet is deader than dead.
Now I don't know what to do.
After waiting a while, under the advisement of another user who apparently has also been having issues with his note 10.1 2014, I decided to try to long press the power button. The tablet came back on, and resumed downloading and updating from Google.
But now the tablet is going into this sudden blank blue screen and most of the time rebooting on its own (occasionally it needs a little help, by the pressing and holding of the power button to induce the reboot) ever so randomly. I have found absolutely nor rhyme nor reason for when or how it decides it's going to reboot itself. It tends to happen often if/when I launch some apps that require logging into Google services; but at times it happens without provocation -at all.
Recently it's been boot-looping -without the launching of any app... just from turning on, sitting idle, and then rebooting. But I'm no closer to figuring out how to consistently induce the reboot, either.
My tablet has never been rooted (and for obvious reasons, never will be), no custom ROM, no ROM from another region. Nothing that would give Samsung the excuse to void my warranty (not that it's worth much, here in China).
And yet, it still reboots at random intervals for no immediately apparent reason.
In any event, if anyone has any ideas on how to proceed, any suggestions on what to do with this POS, I'm open to suggestions.
I'm interested in general ideas such as take it to the Samsung shop (something I'm loathe to do because Samsung has terrible service -especially in China- and at best I'm looking at a month or something like that before I get it back), so some ideas on how to discover when/why/how this rebooting sequence is being triggered -and maybe troubleshoot it is slightly preferable.
Hi Guys,
i am really confused and a little bit angry. The Following happened to me today:
My Phone (Unrooted, Locked BL) was behaving weird this morning.
It just randomly crashed and wouldn't boot up.
Eventually i got it to boot once or twice, but still it crashed, shut down and Bootloop.
A Reqular Factory Reset did nothing. now i'm trying to install the Regular KDZ-File for the H815, but things are just not working as expected.
Has anyone else had this problem before?
Is it normal that the LG Flash Tool is on 1% for over 5 Minutes and nothing changes on the Phone screen?
I want to know what has broken my phone so bad, cause this time, I just used it the way it was supposed to be used, no hard drops, no rooting, no changing of software in any means.
First LG Phone and it broke with no warning and no explenation. I'm a little disappointed right now.

The same happened to mine. Are you able to get to download mode by powering off your phone and plugging it into your computer? Im able to flash stock ROMs but nothing helps. The phone reboots by itself at random times and makes it into the operating system a few times but is never usable.

Hey,
yes i can get into download mode.
I am able to flash files, but the phone wont boot up anymore.
I just want to save my data, but i guess i wont be able to do so.
So i have to get to the store and get a new g4
Luckily i made a backup of my two weeks ago, so not much will be lost.
I also send an email to the LG customer Service, will post their reply here too.
I am really disappointed by LG at this point, i usually had motorola phones and they didn't have random errors like this one.
I switched to LG, cause G4 sounded awesome, but this error is making me sad.
I am really thinking that i won't buy another LG Product, which is making me sad too, cause usually most things made by them are great.

//==============First Request by me:======================
Hello dear LG-Service Team,
i just bought the premium product LG-G4.
Since some days, the Phone is beginning to hang and reboot, resulting in a bootloop.
Sometimes the phone boots, than optimizing Android for about 30 minutes (100+ Apps installed). After this happened, i kann use it again, but not fully.
To shortcut eventual questions:
The Phone is in factory State, no Custom Rom installed. The bootloader is locked and the Phone has not been rooted.
The mistake seems to come from your firmware.
I am really disappointed, because i paid a lot of money and no have a product which is barely usable.
I switched to LG because of the G4 and i don't want to regret this decision.
Kind regards

Email and response, translated by me, so there might be some mistakes...
I don't like the response, it feels like not being taken seriously.
Well, nevertheless, i will go to the retailer and will see what happens.
I will keep you updated.
What do you think of this response?
Greetz Esok
That response is terrible lol. I called in and they said they do not support my phone because it is an international version. So there was nothing they could do for me.
I have a similiar issue, but mine was due to a OTA update, and I didn't know about the download mode until now.
Thanks.
Any tips when I can get into the download mode? I just wanna recover my personal data (images, and texts)? Flashing STOCK image would preserve the personal data right?
While your phone is off, plug it into your computer while holding volume up. If you are using LG flash tool to flash a .KDZ firmware file, you will come across an option that says Normal flash or CSE Flash. Normal flash will not wipe data, while CSE Flash will. I have flashed stock images and it didn't work. Hopefully it works for you though.

+1 I'm in same boat and exact same issue with my H815. I love the device but this is unacceptable.
I'm having the same problem, it just happened to me all of a sudden and now I can't even get to the boot animation. I've been able to get into recovery 2 or 3 times but usually it just restarts before it even gets there. I recently updated to the newest xposed framework (though I've restarted just fine a few times after I installed it), did anyone else here do the same?
When I get home from work I'm going to keep attempting to fix it, I've flashed my current TOT but it failed after rebooting. I don't know if I'm having the same problem as everyone else but I'll update if I can find a solution.
same issue here on the at&t 810. Starting about 3 days ago I started getting random reboots + bootloops. Sometimes it would boot to the LG logo and stick, sometimes to the AT&T logo and stick, sometimes to the OS and freeze after the lock screen appeared. I can get into the OS and use it for awhile, then it will restart and it all begins again. 2 factory resets so far and no dice. I am rooted on 10e but have a warranty device on the way which undoubtedly will be on a higher firmware and will likely miss out on the potential coming bootloader unlock. At this point I am probably going to sell on craigslist and get a 6p. The phone is great when it works and I love the size, the looks, and the screen, but the lag and these reboots are unacceptable.
Just a short update by me:
I gave it to the retailer, they said it would take about 10 Days.
I hope this stuff won't happen again or this was the last time i am buying a LG Product.
I think i would have been better off by sending it directly to LG but nevertheless, maybe giving it to the retailer will make my warranty stay longer
I will keep you updated, including firmware Version the phone has after sending it in and so on.
All of the sudden my phone today just froze leaving me with a black background and no animations, the phone is very hot if I try to use it on that moment. Even when I reboot the phone stays very very slow and says system it's no responding.
What can I do? Even when a Reboot it some times works normal then suddenly does it again.

Sounds like a heat problem in your case.
What happens if you pull out the battery, wait 10 minutes to let the phone get cold and than reboot?
Well, no luck on my end. I could only even get into recovery one out of every 50 times or so that I tried, and when I managed to I wasn't able to sideload any system software because it wouldn't initialize the driver (my computer recognized the phone just fine, except the ADB portion). Clearing the data did nothing either. Luckily I'm on Sprint and the phone's being recalled anyway, so I just walked in and they swapped it no questions asked. At least after flashing a TOT and clearing the data they shouldn't have an easy way to tell I was rooted or anything.

Thanks for replying, I completely restored phone today and was a success. No more black background.
same random rebooting issue here as well. and I just bought this phone brand new from a 3rd party :/
Update: I seem to have gotten past the problems after updating to 10n. Now running stock debloated 10n rom with no reboot issues (so far)
Update 2: Had 1 - 2 cycle bootloop on 10n

I don't see how you giving your phone to your retailer will extend your warranty. That makes absolutely no sense, since your warranty begins from your date of purchase.
My phone also ended up with the bootloop and having to exchange with a new unit. I'm on the TMO Variant H811.

Actually German Law is a little bit different.
Regular warranty is not what i meant in my post, i meant the "Gewährleistung" its an additional kind of warranty given out by the retailer.
There are some cases in which this "Gewährleistung", which usually lasts for about 2 Years is made longer. Mostly this happens when the retailer would have to send in a product for the third time, they basically give out a new one, which will be treated like a NEW device. So new Warranty, new "Gewährleistung".
I hope this somehow made sense
Today i got my phone back.
They repaired it.
Everything is like it was before, so i am pretty sure they didn't change it.
Firmware Version is 10d.
The Phone is working so far.
Will keep you updated if anything changes.

same issues unlocked ... rooted ... android 6.0 hard reset doesnt work ... kdz method stay at 5% and nothing happend .. etc etc
Hi all,
I have a vanilla, unrooted tablet which had Marshmallow installed a few weeks ago. It reboots constantly (like I am lucky to get 2-3 minutes out of it). Sometimes it reboots 7 or 8 times in a row until I give up and hold the power button down.
Have cleared cache and factory reset (multiple times). This hasnt solved the problem. I thought this might be an issue with the Google Play Store, as it generally crashes as soon as I run this (as the first thing I do after the reset) - so after one of the resets I downloaded the latest playstore APK and installed it. Also did not login to the play store in case this was corrupted or something. Have tried this without loading ANY apps other than the stock that comes after the reset - but still the issue persists.
All of the above has been done with the SD card removed - and with full charge
Generally it crashes as soon as I try and run any app or go to settings etc. This is even with the completely factory reset and wiped tablet with no additional apps installed.
Having tried everything, am down to the theory of hardware fault - specifically the battery. After the last update (which failed half way through) I had big problems with battery life and the tablet got (and still gets) quite hot. I am thinking something in the new update might have put extra stress on the battery, which after a few weeks has caused it to fail.
Is this possible, and is there anyway in logs etc to tell if this is hardware or software?
Anyway, other than throwing this away and buying a new one - am not sure what the next step to solve this is. (Maybe revert to previous Android?). Any suggestions or help is welcome, but I am thinking of throwing this away and not throwing good money after bad...
(Have emailed Samsung but of course never heard back - so suffice to say my next tab wont be Samsung)
try download your stock firmware and flash it with odin via your pc.
i had problem with my tab...i had restarts always...whatever i do, every few seconds it restarts by itself... but it works normaly on cable so i went to search for a solution and lol i laughed when i saw what was the solution...i removed the backcover fo the device and then just reatached the battery connector cable and thats it and now my tab works normaly even on battery.not sure if u have similar issue but u can try it it will take u 5 min work and also u have video on Youtube how to dissambly galaxy tab S...cheers mate and wish u good luck
I solved this prob yesterday, itb works fine nw, didnt crash since, just open the tablet remove the basttery vlean its pins then reinstall it
U can find vedios explaining hw to remomve z battery
OK - have updated firmware with ODIN (and tried 3 different versions going back to Android 5)
Have undone the back and removed battery and reset cables. Even replaced the battery with one I bought off Ebay
Cant think of anything else, must be a fault on a board somewhere...
I think she is dead. :crying:
Thanks to those who posted and sent me PM's - really do appreciate it.
By the way, it is definitely something to do with the power. When it reboots and it is attached to a USB, the screen flashes up with the empty battery (ie charging from completely empty) symbol momentarily (maybe a second or 2 tops) before flashing up with 64% or whatever the actual battery level is...

If your battery can go from 0% to 64% in a few seconds, the battery connector needs to be resoldered due to cracked solder joints.
This rework only takes 5 minutes , ask a repair shop or anyone knows how to solder for assistant.

Hello!
Around Nov. 11th, I followed on-screen prompts for firmware update (I believe the fall One UI 5.0) on my Galaxy S22. Put in the password I've used since I activated the phone in July to "complete the update" after system restart, but device won't take it and I have only a few "attempts" remaining.
Phone is Verizon, no luck with Samsung Find My Mobile; Google's Android Device Manager won't even _ring_ the phone (it showed the correct GPS location at first, but not after I let the phone die and charged it up again ... tried resetting password from here, but even several soft resets later, it now reads device cannot be reached and shows a generic map with no pin).
I've heard of people soft-resetting until it works, but I don't want to waste more attempts with the only password I've ever used (definitely used the eyeball icon to make make sure I'm typing it in right!). No way to roll back the update or reinstall it? So much data since my last backup :-/
Any ideas for last attempts into the phone before factory reset? Willing to keep trying.
-J
P.S. Was advised to move this post, hopefully I'm in the right channel now. I have pics / video to suppplement post if needed.
P.P.S. Noticing that Airplane mode looks to be enabled, but I seem able to hit WiFi icon and "connect" to home network over it.
This started happening to me today too, I have a galaxy a51 though. I recently updated as well a few days ago.
My pattern unlock worked fine earlier in the day. I put it on the charger and walked away for a while, when I came back the pattern that I've used for a long time no longer works. I've tried so many times it keeps locking me out in increasing increments of times... now it's counting down from an hour.
Soft resets did nothing, I tried many times. I don't have find my phone enabled or a samsung account linked, my google account is linked but unfortunately google forced me to set up 2FA a while ago so now I need my phone to get into that too!
The only other thing I've seen mentioned as a fix is to let the phone die completely then recharge it and see if it will accept the pattern. Mine is at 60% right now so it's going to take a while. I also don't want to factory reset as none of my data is backed up, unfortunately.
I feel like the update has to be related to this problem too. I've had several problems since doing that update and never had any of these issues prior. Did you ever figure anything out with yours?
Hello there fellow M51 users. I’ve been using the M51 ever since it launched. all was good, until last month, the display just stopped working. Took it to Samsung service centre, and they said it was the display. Kinda frustrating how it just stopped working despite having no physical damages. Anyways, I set out to find an aftermarket display as replacement, as the original one from samsung costs wayy more than the phone’s current resale value. After installing the 3rd party display, the phone turned on (in safe mode?) and then turned off a few seconds after I got into the home screen. This kept on happening as i tried restarting. I also noticed the phone get unusually hot. Now a dialogue box saying “Serious software issue detected” pops up while booting with a “Check for updates” prompt. I believe it is updated to the latest version. Is there any way over this? The technician suggests we do a factory reset, but I have 5 years worth of valuable data in there. Can I at least be able to retrieve the data? Should i try using an original display, would that solve this? Technicians locally are unbothered and lazy to help, so I hope someone can help me from here. Thanks a lot in advance.
Welcome to XDA.
If it will boot into safe mode you can get the data.
If you get into safe mode don't power it down, grab the data. Go into safe mode, if it crashes in safe mode you got big problems...
In the future redundantly backup all critical data otherwise sooner or latter you will likely lose it.
If you have expandable storage always use it as a data drive; all critical goes here, don't encrypt it, and then backup the SD card data on a regular basis. Many time if the OS or phone crashes/burns the SD card and its data are still intact.

I have a 3rd party display in my M51, it is LCD, you can take it the guy who fixed it and he'll have a solution. My phone works fine except sometime when i use a "amoled specific feature" the display goes blank and i need to hard reboot.
