I've downloaded everything and can't figure out what I am missing.
I put my T Mobile Samsung s4 m919 device in download mode ...
I plug it in and start Odin in admin mode.
I uncheck auto reboot and see Com 4 in green
I click PDA and find no files for it.

If your download file still in .zip format?
If so you need to unzip it into it's usable *.TAR format.

Just install any rom that have all these files and then using registry fix upgrade to the latest DDJG4 ROM which is far more better and stable..
am using the same ... after changing a lot of rom .. its the best i found for indian galaxies.. need more help .. do write dowm.
U can also directly install DDJG4 through ODIN.. it has all the files .... i never needed modem or csc file only pda and pit did the upgrade.

Did you enable repartition checkbox while flashing via odin and did you use the 512.pit file? If I 'm not wrong ddjg4 is a single tar which has the pda, modem and csc. Select pda in odin and point to the tar file.

i enabled repartition but still getin the same error.... do i have to format my phone b4 doin it.. m using XXJPC firmware currently and want to move back to the official one... please help...
JPC is a real pain ... has lot of bugs .. also it changes the product code to KOR after reading a lot i managed to get back my product code to INU ....
Try doing a factory reset and then flashing with ODIN with repartition on .... or use the registry hack method and upgrade to DDJG4 via kies.
first format ur internal sd card and then ur device and then try the method below
the rar file ddjg4 contains 2 files 1)add_odd and 2) dll file. , add_odd .. is a tar file just ignore the dll file...
1) open odin , tick the repartition ..
2) select the 512.pit file
3) select the add_odd as pda
4)remove the sim and the sd card
5) put the battery and the back cover
6) put ur device in the download mode
7) connect device to computer (using data cable)
8) click start
and i think you should be back to ddjg4

Is it a zip (that doesn't have a tar inside) or is it a tar file? Zip will most likely be in CWM, tar is always ODIN.

zip. it would even allow me to open it either. gave me a bunch of errors
i just tried to go thru cwm and it aborted installation. the error says its md5 file inside

What does the file structure look like inside of the zip?
i have downloaded 2 different files that are supposedly 2.3.6 and none of them are working. i have a zip version i got from sammobile.com that i think that is password locked but only gives me an error when i try to extract it. i can open it and theres a md5 file in there
the other one is a rar file and i dont know what to do with it.
i have darkside digital warfare rom but i cannot get it to install correctly thru cwm. i gets to darth vader loading screen blue line fills up then flashes samsung and turns off and thats it.
i just want to get back to stock and take the back and start over with a new one

It's a .tar.md5 file extension?
in the type column just says md5. it doesnt say tar anywhere
Yes they are files to use through odin inside a zip file...
And they are password protected ... You must extract the zip first , then use the file in odin ...
usually samfirmware.com, sammobile.com or something like that ...
thanks for your help guys. i will try tomorrow when i get home from work. i have juggernaut running pretty good on it now
sounds like you have an incomplete dl too
where would i put in the password on the sammobile stock rom? i will redownload it to see if changes
Guys, forgive me, my noobness. Trying to fix shutter sound on GSIII.
I downloaded the 7z extractor, I downloaded Odin for GSIII, and I extracted the flash for the camera shutter fix.
But I can't flash it through Odin, because after I extracted the shutter fix, it became an .exe file, not a .tar file.
How do I fix this, or perhaps extract it correctly, to make sure I'm getting the .tar file?
Thanks!

Leave the fix as a .tar file. Then flash via Odin. Should solve the problem.
Its an odin one-click. Just run the exe

Yeah i didn't even catch that one Lol.. Thanks. But as was said.. Run the EXE, toss phone into Odin mode (Download mode) and go for it.
Gotcha.
So, it sounds like I don't even need Odin?
1. Open .exe.
2. Connect phone, put in DL mode.
3. Run program inside EXE.
Is that right? I'm sorry for how dumb this must sound. I'm a little more tech-savvy than your average person, but this stuff is a foreign language to me.

You need the tar file from the zip and flash it in odin on the computer.Your phone needs to be in download mode pressing Home button+Volume down+ power all at the same time. Then when the screen pulls up press volume up button and plug in to computer/launch odin/press pda button/find tar file/press start. When it says done just unplug. Try this thread for more guides and info.

I have no idea how you are trying to go about unzipping the file because you have given almost no information.I have never seen this pointer error that you are talking about. Here is a link to an unzip tool that I personally use,it has a free trial. It will unzip any zip file easily. Download the zip file and unzip it all on the PC.Hope that helps. http://www.rarlab.com/
Totally lost. Try to download marshmallow tar and update. But I download, open heimdall and use browse for file. But it is not valid to open and put in cue. I don't know what to do. Is it a different file for Apple. Mac socks by the way. I have no other choice.

You have to extract the tar file. What you actually flash is the file with an extension of .MD5.
