Hello, I seem to have uncovered a new feature where I get an email every time I am quoted in a thread. I cannot find a setting in control panel to stop these emails. I have never experienced this feature on other boards or forums.
Please help. I want to stop getting emails about being quoted

In your control panel options under the quick links tab at top of the page. There will be an option on the left side called "mention system". Within that there should be a setting to disable emails for quotes. I think clicking on the link below should take you to your settings
http://forum.xda-developers.com/usertag.php?do=profile&action=options
Thank you. I disables mentions and quote emails. Thank you. How did you find that page?

The "Control Panel" link is in the top right of the forums, next to where your username is, where it says how many new private messages you have, etc. It's on the forum website, not sure about the app or mobile site.
oh it's down on the bottom. I did not see that. Thank you

On my profile I want my location to show up...how do I do this?? Not a noob when it comes to forums but I have looked all over! Tried searching but my terms were too generic no matter what I put in (plus I'm lazy). Can anyone help me with this?
There still seems to be a bug in the forum software. Normally you should be able to configure this in your UserCP (User Control Panel), but the menu entry for this group of settings does not show up anymore.
But you can use this link directly in order to adapt your settings.

you are abusing others will and ability to help
the fact that you are lazy isn't justifying that
in few last days there were about 6 threads about changing location
so get your lazy ass up and read
Whatever dude, I looked and did search. Maybe they should fix this bug and no one would have to ask. Oh and thank you Foo.

HI I was going to open a new thread about this. But fortunately i opened this thread. Thanks for the info.
Looks like this can be done without magic links.
At the top of the Forum Click "Quick Links" > "Edit your details".
Thanks
Dave

Hi,
When I go on the User Control Panel and I click on Event Reminder on the left side of the page, I get a message saying that I might not have the privilege to view it, and it says it's some kind of developer page. I have no idea what it is, but why am I being restricted to view to the Event Reminder? Very weird, has anyone else got this problem?

I believe we switched it off some time ago to better use the servers for other tasks.

Oh OK. By the way, if we ask one of the mods to change our username and they do then if anyone searches for our posts will we still get the results for the posts that we made before the username change?
Also if we change our username then will there be some kind of notice on our posts about the username change?

You would need to get mike to do the change. And yes it is possible to find old posts, but not hugely easy

Ok i turned on the settings that should have enabled email notifications but still no notifications.
What setting turns them on?
I thought that i would get more help than this on here.
Are you talking about when you subscribe to a thread and what not?
If so, it is in settings>notifications. Cant remember the exact buttons to look for, but it is in there.

Please don't be a Debbie-Downer. It is kind of a turn-off when people see your request and then see you complaining about not getting help (especially when others have already tried to help). Rather than complain make a new post or ask again. Sometimes it doesn't hurt to be patient. Lol I have a question out there that hasn't been answered in months (granted I found my answer another way)! Sometimes people don't know the answer or assume that it's already been answered when they see multiple replies.
As to answering your question... Setting up notifications didn't work for me in either the XDA app or in Tapatalk. In order to set them up I had to go to the actual website. I'm using the XDA 2013 Beta so my instructions will be for XDA 2013 Beta.
If you'd like to switch to XDA 2013 Beta go to the very bottom left of your screen. There is a dropdown box, click it and select "XDA 2013 Beta".
Now on to the rest.
In the top right corner or your screen select the "Control Panel" (directly below your username).
On the left side of your screen you should see a gray box that says "Settings and Options". Below that is a menu option titled "Edit Options". Select it.
Once you're in the "Edit Options" section scroll down past the first little section and you'll see the section "Messaging and Notifications". You will see many sub-options, almost all relate to different email/messaging options. Play around with the ones you want and presto! You are good to go!

I already did that,i tried all settings in "Messaging and Notifications" before asking this question. And im on Beta 2013.Still no notifications.
I have an account on Phandroid.com and every time someone replies, thanks me or comments i get an email.
I think i had that on XDA before but not any more,it would be great if i could get it on here.
Does anyone actually receive emails for replies on xda or xda don't have this option?

K. That's something else entirely. When you subscribe to a thread it gives you the option to be notified. There are several options in the dropdown list, I normally do immediately for the important threads. I get emails all the time.
There isn't currently a system that notifies you when someone quotes you or thanks you though.
Good luck!

Hi, I've not found anything that relates to my problem so I'm hoping I can get some clarification here.
I seem to have got stuck in Multiquote mode. I think I pressed it one day and now everything I do will add to the same post, ie. it gets multiquoted.
The way I understood it, if you press 'Multiquote' then it will ... uhm ... multiquote. If you press 'Reply' it won't.
Currently it doesn't matter if I press reply it still gets added to the same post. So the question is, is this a toggle and if so how do I turn it off and more importantly, if it's a toggle is there any indication which mode I am currently in?
Multi-quote allows you to reply to multiple people in the same post. You can quote several posts simultaneously. You reply by either clicking on "reply" or "quick reply."
Looks like you received your answer, but Moved for assistance. Thank You
I don't think clicking quick reply after multi quoting works..Though, I am not sure about it, i forgot.
However, pressing "Reply" after multi quoting works for sure

Thanks it seems to work in this thread. I'll just have to test it out in the thread I'm having problems in.
How do I stop getting junk mail from this site every day?
Step by Step instructions please. I've looked in all the settings and can't find a way to do it.

I don't normally open unsolicited emails. It's just common sense security practice. You should always be able to unsubscribe from any marketing emails right in the user control panel.
After reading your reply I opened one and didn't see anything. So then I went ahead and unblocked remote content (another anti-security action) and still didn't see anything. After looking over the entire email several times I did finally find it. Here's a screenshot of the actual Unsubscribe link. Do you see it?
I really want an answer, can you see it? That's an unedited screen capture using the built in windows snipping tool. It shows a really unethical tactic in use by this website
