[Q] Cannot view event reminder in User CP - About xda-developers.com

Hi,
When I go on the User Control Panel and I click on Event Reminder on the left side of the page, I get a message saying that I might not have the privilege to view it, and it says it's some kind of developer page. I have no idea what it is, but why am I being restricted to view to the Event Reminder? Very weird, has anyone else got this problem?

I believe we switched it off some time ago to better use the servers for other tasks.

Oh OK. By the way, if we ask one of the mods to change our username and they do then if anyone searches for our posts will we still get the results for the posts that we made before the username change?
Also if we change our username then will there be some kind of notice on our posts about the username change?

You would need to get mike to do the change. And yes it is possible to find old posts, but not hugely easy

How do I change my location?

On my profile I want my location to show up...how do I do this?? Not a noob when it comes to forums but I have looked all over! Tried searching but my terms were too generic no matter what I put in (plus I'm lazy). Can anyone help me with this?
There still seems to be a bug in the forum software. Normally you should be able to configure this in your UserCP (User Control Panel), but the menu entry for this group of settings does not show up anymore.
But you can use this link directly in order to adapt your settings.

you are abusing others will and ability to help
the fact that you are lazy isn't justifying that
in few last days there were about 6 threads about changing location
so get your lazy ass up and read
Whatever dude, I looked and did search. Maybe they should fix this bug and no one would have to ask. Oh and thank you Foo.

At the top of the Forum Click "Quick Links" > "Edit your details".
Thanks

Number of Referrals?

What does the number of Referrals in user profile statistics mean?

You can either, create a referrals URL, so that you give this to your friends, and they join via the URL and you get a referral.
Or
When registering (I'm told) there is a field to enter the name of an existing member who referred you to this site.
Dave
I've wondered about that too.
Thanks for clearing it up.

Not in the Mod CP, maybe your posts inspired someone to join, remember a lot of people only join to download attachments .

You'd be surprised I tend to be less helpful when I try to be, so maybe I should just flame my way to the big 1000
PS: If you're not too busy, can you mention to the powers that be the idea of having your phone, ROM and radio in your username bar (the thing to the left of each post - don't know what it's called...). It was mentioned in this thread as it went a little off topic in the second page, but it seems to have fizzled out a bit.
I think it would be a very useful idea as a lot of support threads ask for such information and quite a lot of users would rather not keep it in their signatures. It also standardises the layout of such things so you can quickly check which phone/ROM/whatever the user is talking about.
I suppose the issues would arise when someone has more than two or three phones as it would make the posts longer, but even then it wouldn't get so bad until it hit around five devices, as it's just two or three lines for each one. Maybe a drop-down box could be used for the device and we could recommend only including primary devices in that, while keeping older ones for your signature only.

I could have sworn that at one point I'd been able to see who my referred sign-ups were, but I can't for the life of me find it now.
I've got 24, and although that's not a lot I'm a bit stumped as to how!
Is there a way to see who has signed up due to my referrals?

Poo. Ah well, cheers mate
Old thread, but wanted to post the method for creating a referrals URL since Dave's link above did not work..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/register.php?referrerid=4238197 <- replace this number with your user ID number
To find your user ID number, click on your user name in the upper right hand corner and see the new URL change in your location bar. Here is mine. Note the u= on the end.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=4238197
Referrals doesn't seem to do anything, but it is nice to know that I inspired someone to join up and hopefully contribute.

how to change password of my account

This sounds like a stupid question... However, I could not find it anywhere. I logged in and clicked my username following "welcome" and then was directed to the statistics page. Still no change password function there ~
Thanks!!

Thank you so much! This was a big help to me.
NEVER MIND - I 'm a noob!
Why it can't be done inside XDA Labs app? In order to reset password (because I forgot) I had to force close XDA Labs and then go to browser version because emailed conformation link redirected me straight to XDA Labs app again, where I can't reset password. Now that I figured out the trick, this question might look like irrelevant, but still I can't help wondering why such a simple task should involve all that going back and forth and force closing trickery. It's not that it's that difficult, but just including a friendly "forgot password?" question inside XDA Labs login section would be way easier and faster, I guess
BTW... There is no "UserCP" option available over here

If you are using your phone, make sure your browser's user interface is set to "PC" instead of "mobile/android," then click on the gear icon at the top of the page.
Thanks for posting your question.... solved my logging in issues.

Recent Visitors

Why can I not view recent visitors in my own profile? Setting is set to everyone.
And why is the frown smilie the first on the list?
Edit
Forget about frown smilie being first i normally do quick reply
Really, no one has any idea about this?
Moved to About XDA.
I think it's because you haven't had many profile views yet, because I'm able to view your recent visitors fine.
At the moment, it's showing that you have 20 page views and my username is the only one showing at the moment.

Is it definitely set to "Everyone"?
If so, try switching to a different option, saving the changes and then change back again.

Switched all options to friends only then back to everyone. Even logged out an cleared cache, still dont work for me.
I think there's a bug in NomadSpin's profile. There are no other sections visible underneath "Mini Statistics", not even empty ones, which I don't see on anyone else's profile. I would try the "I want to report a technical problem with XDA Forums or Portal" form to be found here. Hope this helps.
Dont know if this might have anything at all to do with it but when I originally created this account I entered my email as @google.com rather than @gmail.com (was a long day). Kinda forget how I fixed that, couldnt validate obviously so came back and changed it somehow. (its been another long day)

That shouldn't affect it... I don't see anything untoward on your profile though, so I'm not sure what's wrong...
I don't leave a trail on profiles I visit though - has anyone other than kid visited the profile?
When I visited it yesterday the section "Recent Visitors" wasn't there at all, but now it is and I see myself as the "last 1 visitor" and "This page has had 26 visits".

I could be mistaken, but your looking at your own profile to get to recent visitors maybe? That triggers that you was most recent to view.

No, I'm looking at NomadSpin's profile (now stands at 32 visitors with the last 3 named). If I visit my own profile I don't show as a visitor.
I can see the last 4 visitors out of 33 somebody musta fixed it. Thank you who ever you are
Looks like i may have spoken to soon. Now have 37 visitors an can stil only view the last 4, which appears to be the same 4 as before
When I or a number of mods view your profile, it won't be logged, as we chose to disable the "mark" from being left
It's like that given you posted in about xda, that's where most of the views are coming from
I left my mark!

Where are my old posts?

Hi there,
I must have missed something, did not visit this forum for a few years now. I have an account back from 2006, but it looks like I got 0 posts, no thanks, no helps etc etc?
Did it all get resetted? If yes why?

Hi
Well your account certainly goes back to 2006, but there is no record of older posts. We record ones that are deleted too, but there are none.
There is no automatic clearing of old posts.
Is it possible you might have had another username?
