note 2 Charging time

Hi all im alil new to android mostly delt with apple but I couldnt resist this phone.
My question is my iphone 4s fully charged in like an 1-1n a half from dead
By note 2 at&t version takes 5-7 hrs to charge from dead is that normal
Also if it helps im on jedi 6.1.2 rom
I never let the battery drain out when I was stock so im unsure if its the rom
but the rom has better battery life so I doubt it
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using xda premium
The 4s has a 1432 mAh battery and the Note 2 has a 3100 mAh, it should take longer to charge if it has more than twice the capacity.
5-7 hours seems long to me, mine charges quite quickly on stock ROM. Are you charging via USB? Are you using the charger that came with the phone? It is a 2 amp charger, much higher than many generic chargers or chargers you may have lying around from old phones.
Yup Im using the one it came with I have insurance but im rooted and off stock not sure if theyll replace it only had it 3-4weeks I was aboit to order some extra batteries I just dont no if it's hardware related. Isbthe anyway to check it

My Note II has always taken exactly 2.5 hours to go from absolute dead to fully-charged. I saw someone else on this site post the same thing. If your phone is taking that long to charge, either one of two things are the culprit: either you have a defective phone/battery or you are not using the Samsung wall charger that came with the phone. I can tell you, now, that if you use anything other than that official Samsung charger, it will take 2-3 times as long to charge your device.
Not looking good for me then, I just flashed the jedi rom a few days ago
I mite try to go back to stock and see if there's a difference because from half life on stock it took less then a hr
Can go stock simply by using he past nanRoid backup if so can I then use the backup to go back to jedi ??

Yes on nandroid questions. Possible defective cable as a check vs taking phone back. Mine charges in 2.5 hours. Also just checked yesterday with charging from a generic Walmart bought dual usb car charger with the stock charging cable and it took 1 hour to go from 58% to 100.

"The one" what? The white plug that goes into the wall socket, or just the USB cable and plugging it into your computer to charge?
I ask because you weren't specific and there will be a significant difference if you're plugging into your computer via USB versus plugging into the wall with the white Samsung charger. The cable isn't particularly relevant, but the actual "plug" piece is ... it's 2mA vs the 0.5mA of most computer/laptop USB ports.
There sending me one in the mail, they said it had a lil green erosion in the charger port maybe water damage, I hope they dont try charging me full price of the phone i just got it 3-4weekss ago and its never been anywhere near water and my case protects all openings
Pray for me yall

OK guys not sure whats been going on but i had around 8% left its been 4hrs or 5 and its only up to 78% thats a bit crazy if you ask me. Im running a custom Rom 4.2.1 i believe i feel like going back to stock...
Where did you get 4.2.1? The kernel in something that for off from what is in the usual development channels may have an impact on charging. I'd stick with 4.1.1 or 4.1.2 for current kernels.

I had this problem also when I had the note 2 for about a month...happened twice only though, not every time. I ended up returning that phone because the mic kept cutting out. I haven't had this problem on a new note 2 yet (been about 3 weeks). So there might be something wrong with the device, i don't know.

When you plug in the charger, double check that it says "AC Charging." I have plugged mine in and gotten mixed results:
1. AC charging
2. USB charging
3. Nothing
If I get #3, I restart and usually get #1.
You can also install a battery monitor app and check the log to see how much charge you are getting.

If you were flashing a new rom or any big file. You should never flash below 50% percent. I did this the other day and it was just charging so so slow. So what I did was turned it off and let it charge. While that was happening I guess when it hits a certain percentage it automatically turns on. It turned back on and it was charging just fine. And also when your on the phone while charging the percent goes down for me as well.

Something is wrong there. Easy candidates are:
Your battery
your charger
your cable
Do you have any way to swap out any of the above to see what it may be?

Random input.....
I just happened to be charging my phone while browsing the forum yesterday when I came across this thread. I'm not having any issues I was just killing time and being lazy..
It made me check my battery and I noticed it seemed to be charging kinda slow. (I had been plugged in a while and hadn't gone up much) I checked battery in settings and it said charging USB. I was plugged into the wall outlet. Strange indeed!
I unplugged the usb from the phone then plugged it back in and it switched to AC. It definitely started charging faster after that.
I never would have thought to check this so I'm glad I was snooping around.
Just figured I'd share my experience.

I've had the same problem with slow charging every once in a while. I think it has more to do with the kernel and/or rom. I had times when it took overnight for the phone to charge. Now it charges full in about 2-3 hours.

[Q] (Help) Battery indicator stuck at 100%

I know this has been asked several times but i did each and every thing still no luck.
So basically my problem is that the battery indicator is stuck at 100%. It doesn't show any battery drop and suddenly turns off when the battery is completely down. When i connect the charger and the phone turns on it sill shows 100 despite the battery is completely empty. The only way to charge it is to shutdown during charging. Even after disconnecting the charger the phone still shows hundred. It is very irritating issue because most of the time it shuts down during calls.
Tried flashing different roms, kernels, hard reset, wiping battery stats, calibrating battery and every possible solution but sill no luck
Is it a charger issue, battery issue, software issue or hardware issue and is there any possible solution to It?
I know that my post is so long but you cant imagine how frustrating the problem is. I mean the phone is almost unusable as a phone
Honestly, its kinda very annoying. My battery e.g is 98% then maybe 96% after 3,4 hours and i was very happy. And then all of a suddent 1% drop every 2seconds and takes to 70%.
Not sure about the problem though.

By hardware I meant the phone charger which provides current to battery. But I am not sure. You can try a different battery if that helps.
Same problem here...
Can anyone post the output current of your stock charger? My charger says 5V 1A output. The 1A part seems to be the real cause of problem.
Someone please post your charger specs.

Galaxy note II charging slowly

Hello I don't know if I can find some help here but I'm currently running tweaked Rom on my GNII and have since then noticed that it charges very slow. You have tweaked voltage control of your rom. Which tweak tool you've used? Check if there any reset to default option available. If not, reflash rom with all three wipes. Everything will be fine then.

Try installing app call Galaxy Charging Current in the Playstore
It has free and paid apps .. just get the free app to test your charger current to your phone
Only pay attention to the value on Maximum .. You should be getting at least 1000mAH to 1800mAH ..
normally I would get 1200-1500 mAH .. You will be very lucky to get 1700-1800mAH
Samsung are well known for the bad usb cable data which often cause slow charging ..
Bad cable will only flow 500mAH too your phone and that pretty much like charging through PC which will take forever to full charging

Sometimes just replacing the samsung usb cable data will fix the problem .. Most of the time the culprit is the usb cable data
Another best option is to use Blackberry usb cable data.. their cables are good and more durable somehow compare to samsung cable
You're most likely using the charging cable of another phone. Use the note ii cable that came with the box. I used my S2 cable and the voltage is only around 780. Thenote ii cable got to 1800, big different.

i have no issues when using stock charger and cable, I run across this with other charges and cables that are less than 2 amps though
what kind of charger are you using or cable?
Thanks for your answers guys its the stock one which makes this kinda strange.
Yes this has happened to me on a couple of occasions. Unplugging and plugging it back in solved the problem. I also discovered that not only does the charger matter, but I got different results (charging times) using the same charger but different cables. Maybe there are different guage wire used in the cables?

yes, the cable also matters to handle the extra amps, so you need both the stock charger and cable combo

After reading this thread, I went and downloaded an app called Galaxy Charging Current. I know there are a lot of battery management apps out there, but this is a really simple, basic app that tells you how many amps are flowing thro the charger and cable to your device. My device using OEM pulls 1.8A.
I'll be buying a car charger from Amazon and will use this app to determine if it performs as claimed.
