Hi folks,
I used to own T-Mobile Note 2 which had Samsung Kies software that was great to transfer files via WiFi. However T-Mobile Note 3 doesn't have Kies software installed by default. I am wondering how do you guys transfer files via WiFi on Note 3.
Thanks!
I've always used ES File Explorer.
Check the play store for airdroid and also mobizen. This 2 apps will work great over wifi

My ROM includes sshd by default (public/private key authentication), and I transfer and backup (rsync included) makes it really easy to backup my phone ..

Thanks all! So it looks like Kies doesn't come preinstalled on the handset. Wonder why Samsung chose to do that. Anyways, another app that can be used is WiFi Transfer. I had purchased the pro version of it long time back and may reinstall it on Note 3.
lol why add all these apps when ES File Explorer will do it with pure ease and just about everyone already has it or Solid file explorer. Don't use apps to do when a regular file explorer is going to be able to do natively.

Thanks mate. This is fantastic. Kies air works fine. BTW, how does Kies wifi work?
kies wifi is sync adapter between ur phone and computer ... aka thru wireless. In order for internet tethering and sharing you will need KiesDataRouter.so in the /system/lib file change permissions and thats it !!
Looks like the Kies Air now available on Samsung Apps is a later version than this one

I resently uninstalled my Samsung Social Hub from my T-989 T-Mobile SGSII (It may work on all Samsung Galaxy S II's) and was at a lost on how to get it back. I read about 10 to 15 post and they gave the instructions but the files couldn't be found on there download sites. I attempted to figure it out with SUCCESS!!... Mind you, I am BRAND NEW to creating anything for phones... So please go easy on me.
1. In ClockworkMod Recovery flash:
1samsung_social_hub_Push then 2.Social_hub_7.52. Incase only one of there installs, you should still be fine as it did for me, my auto updated to the latest Social Hub.
2. Reboot your phone and let it start up as normal.
3. Unzip the SocialHubAPKs on your PC. Once unzipped, copy all APKs to you SD card on your Android phone (and remember their location)
4. Now using a Root Explorer on your phone, find all the APKs, copy all & paste them in the "/system/app" folder located on you SGSII.
5. Now that all the Social Hubs from the zip are placed in the /SYSTEM/APP folder, simply REBOOT your phone and open up Social Hub, ENJOY!!...
PS: I used 1Samsung_social_hub and 2.Social_hub_7.52 from another page but couldn't remember from where... So Thank You to you guys for the first to parts, the APK's I put together myself... But it worked... This should also work if you have a debloated ROM but want Social Hub on your phone...
work?
tried to get working on cm9 but had no luck. i really like the exchange app from samsungs and how it lets you configure sync hours. is this supposed to work on a non samsung based rom?

Guys:
I've just turned mi Galaxy S4 from i337m to i9505 with Wanamlite 1.5 but when I try to sign in to Samsung Hub it says: "Invalid Device ID".
Do you know any solution? I've got some movies I bought before and I can't watch them
Truth be told, I don't wanna go back to i337m roms because they do not support apps to sd.
I would first uninstall app. Use file manger to delete apk info. I would use prop edit and rename the build prop of the new phone to the old one and reinstall the apk. Your Apks and movies should work

Pardon me, but where is the download link for all necesary files? ...
I've managed to extract an apk of a (free) application that is restricted to the Galaxy S3. Unfortunately, when I try to install this apk on my Galaxy Nexus, it says 'application not installed'. I'm assuming this is because the S3's device ID is integrated into the apk file, which is why the apk installs fine onto the S3 that it was extracted from.
How does one get around this? Surely it's possible, as applications such as Google Wallet are extracted and shared for all devices on the internet within hours of an update. Could somebody give me a guide on how to do this?
Just a thought, install on your s3, titium back up , copy the backup to your GN and install

It's my mother's S3; I can't root it.
Add her email account then go to play store menu and click her email under accounts and her play suite will be on there. Just make sure you don't sync when setting it up or will get all her emails. Then remove her account. app will still be installed and will update. If you flash you'll have to do it again

Is yours rooted? If so, did you try adding into the system apps folder? Make sure you make a backup too
Swyped on my Galaxy Nexus running AOKP with Franco Kernel, overclocked to 1.4GHz
Don't need root. Just add her under accounts on phone. I did it once. My friend had tmobile. I'm sprint. Apps are tied to email account. All you do is switch user in the store and hers will be there and yours won't until you switch back. Get app. Switch back to yours. Go back to phone settings and remove her account.

It's an NFC payment application for my country.
Any new ideas?
Is it even possible to pull files from system folders via ADB command without root?
Isn't there some Apps that can temporary root your device withou actually touch system to root it?
Or why don't you root it and then afterwards unroot it?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
I think you will be able to pull this off in a custom recovery.
Beamed from my Maguro
OK, so I've realised that the apk that I've pulled from the S3 works fine. I had an online friend install it on his phone and it installs perfectly. I then tried installing it on a Galaxy Note and Galaxy S2. Both of those threw up the same error: 'application not installed'. This has lead me to conclude that the apk, and the application, have device checks built-in. It won't install on anything other than an S3.
Does anyone know how to decompile apks to remove these device checks? I know it's possible, but how complicated is it?

There is a widely documented issue with this software and OS X Mountain Lion (10.8). It doesn't work. Thank goodness for dual booting windows 7 I suppose. It is pretty interesting that the latest Apple software prevents their biggest phone competitor from working properly.

My ML & Note 2 connects perfectly with each other. If you are having issues then try AirDroid from the Play store. There is no need to dual boot but to each their own.

Guys, AirDroid is great and all, but will not help much when it comes to transferring game and app files etc...
could not use Android File Transfer while Kies was installed. Simply dragging the app folder (Kies) to the trash won't fix the problem either. You have to download and run the Kies installer package but choose UNINSTALL when it starts and it will clean everything up for you. (I suppose there is an agent or two for Kies that is sitting out there.)
After that, AFT works great. (remember to bump up your device lock timeout though or it will disconnect on you if it locks during a transfer!

I found out that you cannot have Kies installed and android transfer installed on your Mac at the same time or else android transfer will not work.
Yes, you can't have KIES installed for it to work. It was posted in #5 that KIES must be uninstalled. Sometimes it helps to read the whole thread when there are only a few pages to read. =)

Worked like a charm on mine 10.8.4
I have a note 2 and have polaris office 4 on it. I love it. I can actually write on and highlight powerpoints, which I need for classes. I also have the 10.1 2014 polaris office 5. I tried to copy and install the office 4 version to my tablet and it just opens and shuts down right away. Is there anyway I can get v4 to run on my tablet? v5 doesn't allow for saving of ppts after they've been written on like v4 does. I contacted the developer but they didn't understand what I was asking. :/ I am rooted.
See , follow this method . Your Note II must be rooted and there must be root explorer installed on it . And you note 10.1 also must be rooted and root explorer must be installed on it . Then , open root explorer on note 2 and go to system/apps/find here polaris office.apk and polaris office.odex and send both of them via bluetooth to your tab . Now , on your tab , copy the .apk and .odex which you recieved from note 2 and open root explorer and go to system/apps/replace both .apk and .odex and set the permissions to rw--r-- . Done . Enjoyyyyyyy!!!!!!!
Don't forget to press thanks If I helped you in anyway .

On other devices preloaded with Polaris there is also 2-3 lib files needed aswell. And maybe some build prop editing to remove incompabillity warning.
Not sure here.

Wont work for you on N10 with Polaris 4. When you copy the proper libs in order to work you will still have a "warning message" over screen that this version is not supported for this device. You should then rename in b.prop your device as a Note 2 device where from you have those Polaris 4 apks/libs. But with this you will screw other things on your original N10 rom.

I didn't get that message. At first I got the app has stopped message so I rebooted the N10 thinking that might fix it. Now it just opens the splash screen and shuts down. No other error message.

1. You need Polaris 4 libs in order not to shutdown the app.
2, When you will place those libs into system of your N10 - it will run but...
3. ...it will run with dimmed warning message over whole screen that makes hard to use the app - saying that P4 is not compatible on your N10 device. Please contact support or something like that
4. If you still want to run it without that message in order to use it, rename in build prop your N10 to be a N2 device but...
5. ...but when you rename in b.prop you want be able to use Polaris 5 then (same message will appear) and maybe more other features the are tighten to your Note 10 device.
