Service/Reception boosting antennas - Moto G Accessories

Hey everyone, I was browsing the internet and came across a product that apparently boost your cell phone tower service, has anyone used one of these before, and anyone know where the antenna is on the moto g?

These do not work, there's many webpages to see this info. They've been sold for years and years and none of them work.
The antenna built into a mobile phone is very carefully designed for optimal reception/transmission and small piece of plastic with gold etch on it won't help, it's more likely to cause issues.

http://www.amazon.com/Universal-Phone-Reception-Antenna-Booster/product-reviews/B000EFNQES
The antennas on the Moto G appear to be bonded onto the back, top and bottom - remove the back cover and you can see a slight raised section on the top and on the bottom edges of the phone.

Seriously, these stickers only work when you stick them to your forehead so everyone you meet can save time finding out what an idiot you are.

I agree, these stickers are a HUGE scam. Don't do it.

Blue Incipio double cover from Verizon (pictures)

Just received it today from Verizon online. The color is real close to the pebble blue color. It just has a eggshell finish. It does not come with a screen protector however they did include a phone stand. Buttons work great!

Love the color I have the white one. Did you have to order it from Verizon haven't seen it before

Yes, they didn't have that color in the store.

I got mine my a verizon store. they mustve been out
Thanks for the pics. Is this case one or two pieces? Also, do you think it's a case that could easily be removed and put back on several times a day with ease and not lose it's grip or form? I'm asking because I'm very interested in this case but I'm also getting a car dock and whether I get a universal dock or custom dock depends on if the case I'm using can be easily removed. Also, how do you think it would protect against drops versus slightly bulkier cases like the Otterbox Commuter or Seidio Active cases? Thanks very much.
It's two pieces much like a seidio active case. It is real easy to install and remove.
Here is a video review of a different color one from sprint. The Verizon one has a stand instead of the screen protector.

I have the white version of the case and I'm not impressed. It feels a little too big and bulky. I put it on my SG3 for about 15 minutes before I decided it wasn't for me. I put it back in the packaging and it's like new. If anybody wants it I'll take $15 shipped anywhere in the US.

To me the thickness is about right. Its still less bulk than the commuter. I like a little protection for this huge expensive screen.

I have this same case only in a different color blue which I actually like better. It is a brighter blue and I believe it is a T-Mobile exclusive. I think the case is nice and offers good protection for the size. It doesn't add much thickness at all but I do have one complaint which is why I'm returning it. The cell signal and Wifi signal are effected by the case. I've done numerous tests and on average, you lose two bars of WiFi and roughly 2-3mb/s download speeds on 4G. To me, the protection is not worth the signal trade off.
Strange, I haven't experienced any signal loss.

If you are on WiFi, take the case off and move to a location where you are only getting two bars. Then apply the case and watch the bars drop off. I've already done the testing with my phone, my wife's phone and a co-workers phone.

Pretty much all cases affect signal quality a bit. No reason to freak out about it. The added protection tradeoff is worth it.
edit: and just for ref here's the antenna locations from the sgs3 fcc filing:
Mine holds steady, maybe your t-mobile case is made from different material.

I dropped from .87dBm to .81dBm.
Wireless held steady.
Wait my wireless signal gained. Lower is better
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
This is the one I got from T-Mobile. Maybe it is a different case than the one you have and don't get any signal loss with. It is called the Silicrylic Dual Protection. I highly doubt Incipio changed the material for T-Mobile and only T-Mobile. Maybe it's the color....
IIRC tge shiny versions have some metal in them and hurt reception. The traditional silicrylics (like the VZW and others)are only silicone and poly carbonate. I have no issues on multiple phones with their traditional versions.

I got mine in the store. I wanted black but they said they only had the biue. They had it in the back not on the shelf.

I have the white and grey one. I noticed that today the volume buttons have ripped away a bit. I will be returning it to the Verizon store for an exchange. It's only 3 days old. I like the case, but the silicone part is cut back a bit around the buttons, and makes it weak which caused mine to rip. Im hoping it's a fluke because it's a nice case with a good feel.

Slim Fit Mercury Case

I love this case. I got it in turquoise mint and I love it. The case is a TPU silicone (sorta) case. It fits but its flimsy enough to easily take on and off. Sadly, what I didn't know is that when shined in the light, the phone case is a bit glittery. But hell, I don't care.
This case also comes in many colors. Plus when I got the package, there was a cheap cut out Thank You card. That means a lot, considering all the stuff I buy from amazon is in bubble wrap and just a....disgusting plastic wrap.

Only thing I don't like about those cases are the cutouts for buttons. When I get a tpu case I want to be as protected as possible. I'd go crazy looking at those holes for the antenna and sd card slot. Just extra places for dirt to get in.

The top one is the antenna and the one on the left is the sim card slot. That case made for the Korean model that our phone took design after. Just those 2 changes. Are the only difference.

Have had this case for a couple months now; best of the four TPU-type cases I've had yet. It stays on very well, doesn't lift up screen protectors (!), and protects enough such that I still have no damage after a couple drops (3-4 feet out of the pocket style). The glittery styling on the back is nice yet subtle too. Yes the cutouts are a bit odd on a US model, but all things considered it could be worse!

Attention!!! I have found a fix for signal problems!!!

DISCLAIMER I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOU RUIN YOUR PHONE. THIS WILL VOID YOU WARRANTY UNLESS YOU FOLLOW MY INSTRUCTIONS. I CANNON GUARANTEE THAT THIS WILL WORK FOR YOU. I'M JUST SHARING THE INFORMATION
OK so as you have probably read in the title. I have found a fix for signal problems on the E4GT! All you have to do is take the back door off the phone. No do you see those stickers on the back. Those are covering up the antennas peel those stickers off DON'T throw them away stick them to something so that you could reuse them and stick them back on the phone for issues if you have to take it to the Sprint store. I have mine stuck to the back of the back door mine still fits on bcuz I have the extended battery.
After you have peeled those off you should notice that you're already getting a bit better signal. You should get a lot faster GPS lock that's what I noticed and it stayed locked on.
Now the next thing you can do is your choice. What I did was get a piece of tinfoil and folded it a couple of times and then cut a place for the camera I'll provide a pic of what mine looks like.
Now stick that piece of tinfoil on there and snap the back of the phone back on and you should be good to go.
Ever since I did that it worked miracles. I no longer have that big of an issue with signal on this phone.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
Genius. So you are saying pull off the protective elements of the antennas then short them all together with tinfoil!? For any other people reading you can destroy your antenna this way. They are fine tuned to pick up certain frequencies. Please do not do this. Putting tinfoil will not help. The same thing goes for those stickers you put under your battery. Placebo effect. Op while your at it try sticking a wire into those ports on the back of the phone. Im sure it wouldnt hurt. DISCLAIMER-STICKING ANYTHING IN THOSR PORTS WILL LIKELY SEVER THE CONNECTION FOR WHATEVER THAT PORT WAS GOING TO. ITS HAPPENED BEFORE. ALREADY TESTED DONT DO IT.
sent from my Provari with a mini rda!
Its not actually shorting them. They are protected ribbon antennas. What the foil more than likely does is direct the signal in a way. It may help direct the signal either to the phone or away. Either way, this is still not advisable to do. There are exposed components like antenna interfaces that could be damaged.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Gray are they protected when you peel off the black cover like he suggested? I havent had a need to pull that off. So I dont know if its bare under there or not.
sent from my Provari with a mini rda!
Yep. They are like flex cables.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
So does this actually work or not? I'm not gonna chance severing network connections with tinfoil if it doesn't lol
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda app-developers app
It works just fine for me it will only sever the antennas if you take the back off a lot I've noticed a boost of about 3 bars
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
Oh and if it doesn't work you can replace the housing on the phone cuz that has the antennas in it. The parts are on eBay for like $12-$15
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
The housing is not a concern. It is the exposed antenna interfaces on the motherboard. If those get shorted in any way, you will never have a signal again.

I haven't had a problem. The only way it could get shorted is if I actually attached metal to the contacts

Ebay aluminum battery cover causes interference

Bought an aluminum battery cover for my s3 on ebay and quickly learned it was not a good buy. It interfered with reception. All day I kept dropping lte signal (at&t) and pushed to haspa....and at one point edge service... in my area I rarely lose lte (Philadelphia region). I recorded a marked difference in signal and posted it on YouTube

Crack on back of watch

Has anyone else noticed any sort of scratch or crack in the back of their watches by the area where the plastic back meets the strap? I haven't exposed the watch to any force or stress (no, I haven't tried to replaced the band) so I'm wondering how the hell I have that big crack all of the sudden. It doesn't affect functionality or charging and it doesn't hurt my skin as it isn't raised but I'm just concerned about the durability of the back and if the band is putting some sort of pressure on it while being worn. I tweeted the photo to motorola and they asked me to email their support department as they want to look into it.
I can't attach the photo as it is too big so a link would do. This was taken yesterday and today I just noticed two tiny cracks in the bottom part where the plastic back meets the edge of the band.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/dmpoh6y71q81d19/IMAG0159.jpg?dl=0
If you're having a similar issue, it'd be helpful to tweet at motorola so they can look into it and perhaps send us a replacement.

Link has been updated with a working one.
There shouldn't be any tension from the straps on the back of the device. I have yet to witness any crack on any part of my watch even though it has had some rough dealings within the first week itself. The durability of this watch is quite amazing! I sweat in it every day after school due to sports and it dries the leather strap very quickly and I have also banged it against some hard surfaces including splintered wood and no scratches/cracks yet. So my conclusion is: there is no stress applied by the band at all and your case should be a factory shipping problem which you can get replaced.
I already have a light scratch on my black one. It was from bumping into a door with my wrist.

That's ridiculous! I tweeted at them again and sent a follow up email because I got two more cracks at the bottom of the device and they are getting bigger each day. This is definitely a manufacturing defect as I have only wore it like any other watch. In fact, I've been babying the thing and been very careful about not to accidentally hit it or drop it.

Are these cracks appearing upon initial inspection/first couple of days?
Or are these cracks in watches worn for weeks
