Hi.
I have Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 and Galaxy S4 mini, and
I was wondering, can I cross use chargers of these two devices?
Both are 5.0Volt of course, but Mini's charger is 1.0Amp and Tab3's charger is 2.0Amp.
So, can I charge Mini with Tab3 charger?
I have understand, that if I charge Tab3 with Mini's charger, Amps are too low and charging is very slow.
But will Amps be too high to Mini if I charge with 2.0A charger? And what could happend to battery?
Thanks.

voltage is the only important bit ... 2amps will charge alot faster but MAYBE u will lose battery quickly ... but try
It's no problem

Hey.
I charged S4 mini with Tab 3 charger without any problems and quite fast as well,
but after my phone was fully charged I noticed that it drains battery very fast, even in idle.
If I charge S4 mini with original charger, battery will last much better.
It normally drains about <1% /hour or so (idle), but when charged full with tablet charger it
drains about 1%/5-10minutes (this was on regular use) or something like that. Much faster though.
So I think, I just use original chargers with my devices.
Another thing that I'm wondering is that my Tab 3 charges very slowly from time to time.
Sometimes it charges at normal speed and then the charger feels much warmer than time it charge slow.
I dont know if Galaxy Charging Current Lite (app) shows correct readings on my tab, but
normal charging (warm charger) readings are 1600-1800(amps?) and other times,
when charging slowly, readings are about 200-600(amps?)
I have tested with different USB cables, with same results. So is this normal (I think not), or is my charger broken?

In the meantime I got inspired by some threads in which people claimed that 2A (amp) charger will make it faster to charge up my note then original 1A charger. I bought original Samsung 2A charger for Samsung galaxy tab and tried that out and I must say that during the first week or two the charging time decreased from around 2.5 - 3 hours into something around 1h 40-50 min.
Later on everything returned to standard 3 hours though, charging with 2A charger is almost identical to 1A charger so from my experience there is no added value with this approach (unless ICS will make a change, or some custom rom).
For anyone interested I enclosed picture where in the top row you may see charging with 1A charger after 1h50min, 2h40min (both just random pics), then when this app (https://market.android.com/details?id=net.whph.android.battery) said it is 100% and the last picture is when galaxy note (Android) system said it is 100% (green battery icon). In the bottom row there is the same scenario with 2A charger. I am on the stock rom 2.6.35.7-N7000XXKKA.
Im not sure but I think you need a kernel that allows more than 1A charging for the 2A charger to work.

I guess so, what makes me slightly uncertain is that initially, charging time was around 2 hours ...
This is an interesting thread. I'd like to get more information about 2A chargers and whether they really make a difference.
Also I heard that when plugged to a TV (using the MHL cable) the phone may actually consume the battery more, even when plugged to the charger simultaneously. therefore if 2A chargers charge faster, it may also solve this problem.

I actually have both, micro USB to USB and micro USB to MHL cables. Wasn't able to test them for a longer time as they sometimes work and sometimes don't, especially mhl cable shows videos for like 30 seconds and then there is a lost signal message on my TV, then it wakes up, then it is gone again ... I could fiddle wit it, but will rather wait for ICS upgrade and then will return to it again.

Iphone charger
I am using the iPhone charger. It is a 2A and so far I see an improvement in the battery life. With the original charger (and BB one) the battery reading was 2100mAh . Now is 2600mAh. I don't know why or how.
Also I see a sightly improvement in how the battery lasts for normal use. I get around 18hours

What we need is someone with 2 notes with dead batteries and plug the original charger 1a on one and a 2a charger on the other and see which one gets fully charged first! Maybe its me but I can definitely see a difference between the original and the one I'm using (playbook charger 1.8a)

I did it, and while not with 2 notes side by side, you can have a look at the pictures at the 1st post, the time and charging rate shows its pretty same on the stock rom whether you use 1A or 2A charger. (Although it was very different first one or two weeks, after that battery get used to 2A charger and charging is as slow as with 1A ...)

How did you measure the current in mAh or what app did you use? Thanks.
My bad. I am using the iPad chargers. not iPhone . Those are 2A. To verify I am using battery pro monitor.

SGN stock batt with ipad charger?
Hi, I see some of you are using 2A/ipad charger to charge you SGN. My question is, will there be any side effects on that could harm the stock batt in short or long run?
FYI, atm, I have an ipad charger for home and car and i intend to just use the same charger to charge all devices including my SGN. Im not looking for a fast charging option, but just a hassle free and conveniences.
I appreciate if you could give suggestion on a dual port charger (for home and car) where I can charge my devices simultaneously at one time.
No harm as long as the volatage output from your charger is 5v. This is what pushes the current to ur device. Higher it goes more it pushes.
However the current that the charger provides decides how fast it can charge. This will also depend on the device. If the device is manufactured to charge at 1 amp and u use a 2 amp charger then it will only use 1amp. If however u use a 750mah charger it can only use 750mah and charge slowly.

So after having owned the Toshiba Thrive and now am using the Samsung Note 10.1, I have to say I'm disappointed at how slowly the Note 10.1 charges... Even after leaving the Note plugged in to the stock Samsung 5V 2A charger while using it, I can discharge it faster than it can charge (mostly playing games), which is sourly disappointing.
I saw a singular 5V 3A charger on Ebay, but it was for a car... not to mention no telling if it was legit.
So does anyone have any suggestions on a better charger?

There isn't one- there's two charging modes- "high-power" and "USB", and the rates are set by the hardware (with help from the kernel software) so getting a 3A supply won't charge it any faster.

I believe the Toshiba Thrive has a 10.8 volt 2030 mah battery and the charger puts out 19 volts........ so it should charge a lot faster.
The 5v 3a chargers generally are a 2 port charger and one port usually puts out 2a and the second only 1a.

Hi,
i have just tried to charge my Tab3 7.0 with the chragers i have available to charge my Samsung Note II and Ipad 2.
Both Note 2 and Ipad can be charged with Apple charger and a chinese charger with 4 USB ports. The Tab 3 cannot
be charged with those, one has to use the charger which came with the tab.
Both the Apple as well the chinese charger supply 2A so it should also be enough for the Tab 3.
Any hints on that ? Is the Tab3 somehow detecting the type of charger ? (i dont think so)...
It is also not the maximum amps as only the required current (which is lesser than maximum) is drawn ...
Regards
Joachim
Mine charges on the charger from my galaxy s3 which is a 1a charger. I have several others I can try I'll post later.
Mine wont charge when i connect it to the pc, but all my normal charger can charge it. Wery strange..
yeah its strange. The Apple charger is also 2A. and doesnt charge my tab 3..

Mine does not charge with my computer when I plug it at first. BUT
if I go to my MB software (ASUS Sabertooth Z77) there is this FAST USB charging option that once enabled recognizes my TAB and the TAB itself starts charging

That obviously just helps for charging from PC via USB, but most of us have AC chargers with us.

Hi I was wondering if u ever found out why the tab 3 wouldn't charge with other chargers. I have my note 2 charger and didn't work and I bought a cheap charger on ebay and was crap, didn't charge. Do I have to buy the original cable to make it charge?
I will try is maybe the input voltage since the stock charger is 2000mAh. I will try with a 7th charger I've laying around somewhere

1> Few Phones has support for USB charging via a PC. TAB 3 has no support for USB charging.
It does charge very very slowly if u dont use it for a long time while being connected to the USB port.
2> There may be some +- voltage problem with non stock chargers. Its actually not recommended to charge with non stock chargers. Damages the battery.
Hi
I charge My Tab3 with the note2 charger 2 amp. normally.
It take 2.5 hrs tobe fully charged ...
Its stock charger 1 amp take more than 4 hrs.
thx
Hi guys,
I've noticed that my galaxy s4 mini 3g comes with a 1000 mA (1A) charger and it charges at a very good speed compared to when I plug it to an ordinairy USB port (500mA only I believe) on the desktop.
It gets warm after a while while charging using the official samsung wall charger (1A)
I plugged it in my battery bank where the output is said to be 1500 mA and it charged up much faster but gets a little more warmer in the back.
I have an ipad charger here rated for 2.1A but I haven't tried it yet..
I want to find the fastest but also a safe way to charge my phone in order for the battery life to become longer before I need to buy a new one. So I want to ask you guys here in the forum what chargers do you use?
A good read that made more familiar with charging via USB:
http://www.extremetech.com/computing/159727-how-to-charge-your-smartphone-and-other-usb-devices-as-quickly-as-possible
For the battery life to remain long you should stick with lower amperages. The 1A charger should do you fine. USB ports are typically 0.5A, unless its a USB3 port which gives more amperage I think.
I've used a Mega 6.3 charger on the S4 mini before (2A).
Hi Guys.
First off, I'm new here, and I did use the search function. However I did not find anything to my problem in particular.
I have a Lenovo Tab 2 A8-50 (it sucks, I know that by now).
I have 3 different original charger with the original cable that came with the devices.
1x Samsung Galaxy Note 5 - Adaptive Fast Charging - 5V, 2A.
1x iPad Air - 5.1V, 2,1A.
1x Lenovo Tab 2 charger that came with the device - 5V, 1.5A.
If I use any of those 2 other than my Lenovo charger, the charging process is incredibly slow.
For example, with the Lenovo 1.5A charger it takes about 90 min to charge from 25% to 100%.
If I use the Samsung or iPad charger, which have 2A , it takes 4-5 Hours!!
How is that possible that a 1.5A charger , charges faster than a 2A or 2.1A charger? Especially by so much?
I thought a higher Amp charger gives you shorter charging times?
Thanks
