* Absolutely NO XPOSED F/W or Modules supported. This is a daily driver ROM, with deep integration and modification of stock (Samsung) ROM, hence things will break, I assure you!. See FAQ for more detailed explanation as to why I will NOT support it.
* Do NOT install ChainFire SuperSU, as the ROM has built-in CM/Koush Superuser, which I will manage and update if necessary. (And SuperSU completely messes your system binaries, I have no idea what else is botched hence I will NOT support it).
* Follow the DEV thread rules, this IS a dev thread, if you cannot give possible debugging information (logcat, proper replication of the scenario) do NOT post here, go to the general thread here (TODO add link).
* I will only support Stock Kernel (it is included in the DOWNLOADS section), if you are having issues, I would recommend full wipe, flash ROM and flash the STOCK Kernel, reproduce the issue and use my github issue ticketing to report it.ISSUE Reporting Link
* This is daily driver stock themed ROM, if this is NOT what you are looking for I advice you to STOP and move on to another ROM, save that precious bandwidth.
* As this is distributed as a TWRP recovery install file, your KNOX is already at 0x1, duh! don't bother wasting a post whether it will trip KNOX or not.
* Since your KNOX is tripped, removed all KNOX bits does not make any sense.
* Do not ask for ETA, if and when time permits I will release any updates if there are. Use my github issue ticket tracker for any updates to issues. As I am pretty sure the thread will get derailed (and I will only watch it as time permits), creating an issue ticket is your best bet that it will get my attention.
* NO DPI changes supported, although it is available in Settings. A lot of MI7 TW apks are not built for multi-dpi and since I don't support xposed, you are on your own.
* Since the ROM is designed with SELinux Enforcing kernels like Stock Kernel, which also has additional restriction of not allowing adb root. ROM comes built-in with SSH enabled and defaults to root user. You can use the ssh add key in Settings -> Device -> Misc Device Settings to add the key and you can do all the operations untethered .

In short EMBRYO is your stock/OEM (samsung UVUBMI7 base) ROM, which will have the full support of you hardware (which will be very difficult for any after market ROM to achieve) overlayed with after market (CM/AOKP/SLIM) ROM features as time permits and which fancies my attention .
Needless to say, this is a extremely difficult task and requires very precise skill, understanding of a lot of moving parts (hence the MUST READ section entries) and a lot of patience (I mean a lot). Also I am a stickler for quality and it will show!.
Absolutely NO PERMISSION is given to post this in any other thread or kanging the work.

PLEASE FOLLOW THE STEPS EXACTLY AND IN THAT ORDER, do not try to be cute and invent your own process, nothing good is come out of that. Also, the only recovery I have tested is TWRP, no other recovery has been tested, so the installation instructions are tailored for TWRP only. This is full WIPE ROM Instructions, do NOT dirty flash it is NOT going to work.
Step 0) Make sure you are unplugged and fully charged (no USB or power)
Step 1) Make a Nandroid backup and better yet also TiBu if you need to restore apps.
Step 2) Did you do Step 1)???? Do it now, already.
Step 3) Make sure you downloaded the Full Wipe ROM on to your device.
Step 4) Please make sure to check the md5sum's.
Step 5) Boot into TWRP recovery.
Step 6) Select Wipe -> Swipe to Factory Reset
Step 7) Go Back to Wipe Screen -> Advanced Wipe -> Select System -> Swipe to wipe
Step 8) Did you do Step 6, 7? If not, STOP, do NOT proceed.
Step 9) Go Back to Main Screen -> Select Install Tile
Step 10) Select the Full Wipe ROM zip and flash.
Step 11) [OPTIONAL] If you need any bloat zips and add-ons if available add them now.
Step 12) [OPTIONAL] If there are any EMBRYO Update Zips you can add them now. (SHOULD BE LAST ONE ADDED)
Step 13) I Strongly recommend to Flash the Stock Kernel (MI7), the zip is in the Downloads
section.
Step 14) Good, now reboot and LET IT WAIT till everything is installed. Do NOT touch and mess around with any keys. Your installation should be fine, if you see the bootanimation and then installing applications screen shows up.
Step 15) At this point you might be prompted to allow SuperUser access to ROMCustomizer, select
allow.
Step 16) IMPORTANT Follow Any POST Installation stuff below.

Uploaded all the Samsung and T-Mobile APKS that are not included as part of the ROM. By default they will be installed in system partition. Since I did not investigate fully what can be moved to data. If you know that you can push the apks in /data/embryo/preload and use the Package Management from Settings -> Device to install them..

Wow - this is quite a piece of work here. Had to take it for a spin - no issues to report but wanted to pop in and say holy crap man, this is awesome! The navbar stuff alone... it makes my head hurt. Far better than anything I could ever muddle together that's for sure. Glad you finally got the time to share this - work like this doesn't come around very often, so for that I say - thanks!
Great job man!
Downloading now.. maybe I can find some time and see if my themes are compatible and if not I can make em compatible. Sounds like a awesome rom
Does anybody have a copy or link to the stock kernal? It says access or no such file on the link provided in the o.p. thanks

1. Be sure you are on latest CWM or TWRP recovery!!!!!!
2. Not all gapps packages right now are nice working. You can try others but at least I know that the one linked here is working. If you have other gapps which are working you can link it here of course
3. Full wipe when coming from any 4.3 or 4.4 rom (as well format system manually please)
Reporting Bugs
When you submit a bug you want to make sure that nothing from your side is causing it. Otherwise your developer might be hunting a bug which doesn't really exist.
The best way to achieve this is by doing the following.
1. Make a nandroid backup.
2. Perform a full wipe (factory reset + wipe /system)
Now we have two different ways depending on what kind of problem you're having.
3a. When you're having a problem with a ROM function, flash just the ROM without GAPPS etc. and boot back into the system. You will boot directly onto the homescreen.
3b. When you're having a problem with a 3rd party app in combination with our ROM then flash the ROM and GAPPS.
Boot now back into the system. You will boot to the setup wizard.
Log in to your Google account but make sure that you untick "Restore from my Google Account to this phone/tablet".
Finish the setup and open the playstore and download only the app you're having problems with.
4. Start a logcat recording and reproduce the bug (if possible more than once) while taking the logcat. If you don't know how to get a logcat read this tutorial or this.
5. Post the logcat in a txt file (this is important because you otherwise clog up the threads with your log) in the correct thread.
Please also write detailed description how we can reproduce the bug.
6. Restore your backup from point 1 and wait for a fix (don't ask for ETAs).

Reporting Bugs
You are allowed to report bugs only in this thread. Note that this is a preview release and non-device specific bugs will not be accepted. Before reporting a bug, please make sure you are running as stock as possible. This means no custom kernel, no custom framework modification, etc. If you are using any of the above modifications, please flash the build again to get rid of the modifications before reporting.
Grab a logcat right after the problem has occurred. (Please include at least a few pages of the log, not just the last few lines, unless you know what you're doing.)
If it is a random reboot, grab /proc/last_kmsg. (Do not bother getting a logcat unless you can get it just before the reboot. A logcat after a reboot is useless)
Remember to provide as much info as possible. The more info you provide, the more likely that the bug will be solved.
Use these commands to get a logcat and dmesg
Code:
adb root
adb logcat > logcat.txt (wait for a few seconds then press Ctrl + C)
adb shell dmesg > dmesg.txt

PSA: No need to repartition to use art
All you need to do is set a property (dalvik.vm.dexopt-data-only) to 1
You can add the below line to /data/local.prop, that will keep the property set.

Just booted to ART on cm-11-20131208-NIGHTLY-p1 + Banks Gapps. Took about 5 minutes to boot from bootscreen and 15 minutes to update the apps. So far so good, things are going smooth. Thanks for this, no need to repartition now Keep up the good work!!!

if you dony have many apps installed before converting to ART, it should take about 10-15 mins. it goes to boot animation, and then optimizig apps screen. 40 mins is too much. perhaps you haven't added that line in post 2.

I think added that line, If it doesn't boot after reboot I will check that it.
Edit: not booting...
Edit: I do have /data/local.prop with dalvik.vm.dexopt-data-only=1 in it
Edit: I think I do clean reinstall and try to use ART after that.
Edit: factory reset -> reinstall rom + gapps -> turn ART on and reboot -> stuck again -> added /data/local.prop with that line -> reboot -> optimizing apps -> everything crashes -> force reboot -> optimizing again -> 1. systemui crash, 2. Themes provider crash 3. com.android.phone crash... -> force reboot -> optimizing -> same crashes... -> shutting down...
Got ART working, this time I did clean install (without gapps and with older nightly), added /data/local.prop, set ART on and rebooted.

@cdesai do you or CyanogenMod have any plans for the p1c? ive heard that the main isue is cdma so even if it is a wifi only rom its atleast a start
also i was wondering, could someone flash a p1 rom on a p1c device that is being used only as a wifi tablet because the contract ended?
or is there something with the kernel that wouldn't let the p1c device boot using a p1 rom?
btw i just notice the thread name says " CyangenMod" and not "CyanogenMod" just a heads up :good:

I have a GSM device, and the CDMA device's hardware has differences from the GSM version, so no, you can't just flash a GSM build on a CDMA device, even if you're using it as a wifi-only tablet - it just won't work.
Both devices use a different kernel, and different kernel version even (GSM has moved the aries kernel - aka what Galaxy S uses, whereas CDMA still has it's own, older version)
Thanks for the great work. I have 2 questions:
1. Where can I download the Gapps for this version? I've tried several versions and in all of them I got errors regarding Google apps.
2. Is 3G (networking) fully functional?

It's depend on you. If you want to taste the full Google Experience such as GoogleSearchHome (integrated with Google Now) you must choose GApps Standard. But GApps Core only install Google Service.
I can't understand why people wants to move to ART so fast... It's well known that most apps doesn't plays well with ART yet, so it's much better to not use ART for some time until apps adopts it massively.
ORIGINAL CREDIT TO BALDWINGUY77 OVER ON ROOTZWIKI. CHECK OUT THE ORIGINALi: http://rootzwiki.com/topic/36706-ro...a-like-stock-android-442-kot49h/#entry1031982
I'm only port to maguro.
Is a port from original rom no have base maguro only changes for use GSM networks
This ROM is Android Kitkat 4.4.2, build KOT49H. The ROM is built directly from source, that is, the Android source code published by Google available for download to all of us developers. The reason I say the ROM is "OTA-like" is because I make VERY few modifications to it, aside from the things that it takes to get the ROM working. I'll go into detail about those things below, but basically I just want the ROM to make your phone feel stable and shiny and new as if it has just received a new OTA update. That being said, it's clear that the landscape of Nexus devices is changing as new ones are released. Therefore, the other primary goal of this ROM is to keep our Galaxy Nexus as close to the modern Nexus design as possible. This means that I will also add in features that will still be stock, but will also make our phones as close to a current Nexus as possible.
As for how I handle the forum side of things, I'm always open to comments, questions, suggestions, requests, etc. I know that most of those things will often be in the form of criticism, but it's okay, I think I can handle it That being said, I do also have a life and am a college student, so I may not get to come on here ALL the time. I will check back as frequently as possible, and I'm hoping that you guys will help each other out as much as possible! Keep it friendly! So now for the details...
Features
Stock Android 4.4.2, build KOT49H
Source (AOSP) built kernel (boot.img)
(De)Odexed
Easily rootable (see information below)
G-Apps (GMail, Play Store, etc.) included in build along with Nexus apps
Stock browser replaced with Google Chrome
Shiny restart options - access them by holding down the power button and then long pressing on "Power Off"
All the crazy Google proprietary app stuff has been taken care off
Updated frequently
Everything works!
So what do I mean when I say "Everything works!"?
I'm sure by now you all know that when someone says that, it usually ends up not being true. This ROM is not an exception to that rule, but I can say that I've tested most of the things that would be expected to work in stock Android, such as...
WiFi Tethering (no subscription check)
Bluetooth streaming
Google account sign-in and auto-restore of apps and settings
Google Wallet
Location Services (pretty fast GPS lock in my area also)
Believe it or not, December is still a month!
Photosphere
Android beam
Photo editing with the new filters
Email
Exchange support
Like I said, the normal stuff (data, voice, hardware acceleration, etc.)
More things that aren't important enough to mention here - check out the changelog for a more comprehensive list

1. Download the latest version of the ROM from the download post. (Also download any other files you will need to install, such as Chainfire's Superuser Root ZIP, the radios installation ZIP, the bootloader installation ZIP, etc.)
2. Put the file(s) you downloaded in step 1 on your phone's internal storage (sdcard).
3. Turn off your phone.
4. Boot into the bootloader of the phone by holding down both volume buttons and the power button simultaneously until you feel a vibration and see a large arrow that says "Start".
5. Use the volume keys to change the arrow until it says "Recovery," then press the power button to boot into recovery.
6. Because of differences in recovery types, I will make the following steps rather generic.
7. Wipe cache.
8. Wipe dalvik cache.
9. If you want to be 100% sure there are no problems, wipe data. If you are coming from another ROM or Android version, wipe data. If you do not wipe data and something goes wrong, repeat this process but wipe data - this step is not necessary if you are simply upgrading.
10. Flash the ROM
OPTIONALS:
11. Root: If you are rooting, flash Chainfire's SuperSU ZIP file - this step is not necessary if you were rooted on the previous build and are simply upgrading.
12. Mod's: If you like any mod you can install zip now
13. Change kernel: U can change aosp stock kernel. Tiny Kernel, Fancy Kernel, Dirty V, Franco Kernel, Mpokang kernel.
14. Reboot your phone, and enjoy!

No GApps "Add-on" Zip
Some people don't like the way ShinyROM includes its own GApps. Flash this zip directly after the ROM and it will strip out most of the included GApps so that you may use the preferred GApps of your choosing. This will leave the core GApps (Store, Services, etc.) as well any others required for basic functionality (Keyboard, Camera, Launcher, Dialer, etc.) since there are none of the AOSP counterparts included.

So did anyone actually manage to download and flash this yet? I'm without Wi-Fi for a couple of days.

Amazing! Been hoping someone would do this for awhile! Really looking forward to trying it out!
It mentions SystemUI and framework-res mods over stock; what are they, like completing the white KitKat look? (I hope so!)

Welcome, fellow Nook users, to the future of the Nook Simple Touch! We present to you: 1337 ROM!
This ROM is made for both the Nook Simple Touch and the Nook Simple Touch with GlowLight using software version 1.2.1.
Features
New kernel, with multitouch and USB host capability
NoRefresh

Installation Instructions
Install Clockworkmod Recovery (to internal memory, not the SD Card) according to this thread.
Download the latest version of the ROM from the Downloads section. THESE ARE NOT FLASHABLE FILES.
Extract the package to an accessible location. You should have three *.zip files.
Copy all three *.zip files to the SD Card or internal memory.
Boot to Clockworkmod by rebooting and holding the bottom left and right buttons at the "Your Nook is Starting Up" screen.
Wipe /system (mounts & storage > format /system > Yes)
Flash the nook_1337rom_xx.zip and reboot.
Follow through normal B&N setup, then boot back into recovery.
Flash Nooter-Part1.zip and reboot back into the OS.
You should be brought to ReLaunch instead of the B&N homescreen.
Open YouTube. Hit Menu -> My channel. At the prompt that appears, tap Add Account.
Sign in with your Google credentials (Gmail and password) and close YouTube.
Open Gmail. Tap menu -> Sync. Gmail will promptly crash (straight to home; no FC or "unfortunate" stop)
Reboot back to CWM again. This time, flash Nooter-Part2.zip.
Reboot again and enjoy!
Upgrade Instructions for coming up from previous versions of the ROM
Download the latest *.zip file and extract it somewhere safe. As a reminder: THIS IS NOT A FLASHABLE FILE
Copy the three contained *.zip files to your SD card.
Reboot into recovery.
Wipe /system (mounts & storage > format /system > Yes)
Flash all three files in this order, without rebooting: nook_1337rom_xx.zip, Nooter-Part1.zip, then Nooter-Part2.zip.
Reboot.

FAQ
Q: "What home launcher does this ROM use?" - @DrNO[PL]
A: It uses the ReLaunch launcher.
Q: "Where are the downloadable files?" - @kwyrt
A: Since this thread is a DevDB project, the downloads are in a separate page, which is accessible through a link in the ribbon above the OP.
Q: "Does this project use Android 2.3?" - @dorfd1
A: No, it doesn't - the only reason the 1st OP says it does is because 2.3.x is the lowest Android version allowed in the DevDB system. This ROM uses Android 2.1.
Q: "Will multiple languages be added to this ROM?" - @DrNO[PL]
A: No, they won't, because, believe it or not, it's already a stock feature - you just need root to access it! Here's how:
1. Install the app Termimal Emulator from the Market.
2. Open it, and enter the command
Code:
su
The line should now have a "#" on the far left.
3. Enter the command
Code:
am start -n com.android.settings/.DevelopmentSettings
...which launches a hidden settings menu.
4. Tap "Locale Picker[English (United States)]".
5. Choose your language, and enjoy!
Q: "Is this ROM rooted?" - @youxiaojie
A: Yes, it is.
Q: "Are you guys working on an updated ROM that uses 2.3?" - @frap129
A: No, because as of now nobody has been able to update the Android version on the Nook Touch device. 2.1 is the version we are developing for. UPDATE - It's looking like Gingerbread and beyond may be possible for the NST, so the new answer to your question is YES.
Can you post some screenshots?
Which homeapp is used? I'm asking as the one in [NST/NSTG][ROM] Tweaked Modded ROM [Feb16] is restarting / falling into refresh loop with some of my books, which is a bit annoying

No, it's not - the DevDB options just don't allow any Android version below 2.3.x. It's really Android 2.1, just like every other Nook thing.
Sorry about that.

Just flashed and already like it from the start. New, nice pre-boot and shutdown screens and boot animation. Home is just what I searched for. Let me test it for a day or two. I'll let you know about ups and downs, pros and cons... Review comes afterwards
1st question, is there a way to make app drawer to just display icons in 4 columns (with labels or not) instead of 2-column short-list?
2nd are you going to include additional languages similar to HERE?

Glad you're enjoying the ROM!
Answer to 1st question - I bet there is, but I don't know for sure - try messing around with the ReLaunch settings a bit.

Would be nice, but that's not a show stopper.
Rom still did not crash, launcher resterted only once, but it can be my fault. Works smooth and fast. Good job!
Yet I have not opened even one book :silly: lol
In the mean time I've added some, in my opinion, bugs.
I'm going to die now... See you tomorrow

I might look into swapping the settings.apk and merging the functionality in framework-res.apk in that mod you posted. You might be able to flash that mod straight over this, but you'll lose a lot of the theming that @thenookieforlife3 originally added, notably the status bar.
does it be rooted , support init.d and app2sd?

It is rooted.
It does not support init.d yet, but we're working on it.
If App2SD works on any other regular rooted Nook, it works just fine for this ROM, too.
By the way, next time, please don't quote the OP, and save all of us from ESD (Excessive Scrolling Disorder). Also, please edit your post and delete the [quote][/quote] tags and everything in between them.

Are you guys working on compiling an updated ROM? I noticed all the changed files are included in the source other than the device tree, so I may try compiling 2.3, and if that works, higher.
CyanogenMod (pronounced /saɪ.'æn.oʊ.dʒɛn.mɒd/) is an enhanced open source firmware distribution for smartphones and tablet computers based on the Android mobile operating system. It offers features and options not found in the official firmware distributed by vendors of these devices.
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/About
Code:
#include
/*
* Your warranty is now void.
*
* We are not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
* thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
* do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
* before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
* you point the finger at us for messing up your device, we will laugh at you.
*
*/
Instructions
1. Download the zip(s) - firmware and Google Apps additional package (optional)
2. Download and flash a compatible recovery
3. Boot into recovery
4. First Flash: Wipe data, system & cache partitions and flash firmware --Afterwards you can dirty flash.
5. Flash Chainfire's SuperSu (required to have root)
6. Optional: install the Google Apps additional package
7. Reboot and profit
Known Issues:
NFC doesn't work.
You tell me.
NOTE!!! THIS WILL FORCE ENCRYPTION ON THE PHONE!!!
This ROM will encrypt your storage. I am only following CM's guidelines. If you don't want encryption, please flash with the ROM a different kernel that allows for encryption.
Once you have booted up on this ROM, if you want to go back to KitKat, you will first have to transfer the contents of your internal storage and SD Card to a PC or you will lose everything you have there.

I'm not sure if I just can't see it or there's no wifi calling for this ROM. I haven't tried that before.
Anyway, so far I haven't experienced any major issues with the ROM after using it for hours. Wifi works perfectly for me compared to the other Lollipop ROMS out there.
One minor issue, that may bother other people including me, is that the syncing of the Android browser bookmarks isn't working for this ROM. I only use the Android browser because of the Pie controls so I'm a little sad about this issue. Hope this gets fixed in the future. Thank you!

Do we still need to flash the SU if we are starting with 1/4 build? Also the only recovery I found via the link shows "4.4" at the end. Is that the right one? From Sept 29th?
Edit: the mirror for recovery is 12/22. Still shows 4.4

Yes, as far as I know you'll have to flash SU to get root because root is not completely written as it was in CM11. I use Cyadelta to flash custom ROMs because it allows me also flash other zip files. It simplifies flashing. Then once CM nightlies are available it will will download the deltas for every new build and not the entire ROM.
In regards to 4.4 it depends. If you already have the latest bootloader from Samsung, i.e. you flashed any Samsung factory ROM version 4.4.2 then you need a 4.4 TWRP recovery to match the bootloader.
This ROM works with any bootloader. It's the recovery, TWRP, that has to match the bootloader version in order for the device to correctly boot up.
