UPDATE #1
10/3/2011
Well, XDA, bad news
My computer is down, out for the count. I believe it is the motherboard, but it needs further investigation. A nice BOCA users has offered his old motherboard, and I will contact this user, and see.
But, if it is not doable, I am afraid, I must stop making roms, and developing in general, as I cannot afford a new computer.
Sometime tonight, I will release 2.3.7 nightly test port, for contributors.
The UI is not finished, but it is very stable, daily driver status, I believe.
I ask them to not re-release, link, mirror nor distribute.
Why release to them now, and not everyone?
They actually offered help, helped, or donated in some way. They did not demand a thing, without giving something in return. The total hours I have spent these last months developing a rom, is uncountable. Something like 1 cent and hour. Most likely less than that.
There are many reasons I release my work, and yes, one of the perks, other than seeing others happy with and using my hard work, is paypal donations, and I thank every contributor- no matter how they contributed- as a new friend. thank you.

UPDATE 2
Google android source codes have been removed.
Google attacked by hackers, and for security reasons, they pulled their public repositories.
I have no idea when they will open again.
https://twitter.com/#!/warty9
This basically means every android device development (source roms and custom kernels) is in limbo, for now
Until then BOCA developement is on hold, mostly.
No new kernel.
(New kernel hopes were to have recovery that reads internal sdcard, bfg scheduler and voodoo also)
But can't compile without the source code.
HTC G2 kernel will be uploaded later today.
Ill look into a terminal copy paste that mounts your internal sdcard in recovery,
Until then.

Install Instructions
For Coming From Any Rom That isn't BOCA, MIUI or unofficial port based off of CM7 (Teks)
(see below for those instructions)
As you all know, when switching from rom to rom, something called a safe stock re-partitioned is very much preferred, almost required. Even more so, when jumping from roms with different os bases, example is going from a 2.3 based rom to a 2.3.4 (or reverse).
You need to do this process to kinda bleach out anything that remains of the old rom, as many times these arent properly cleared through a recovery erase, and can leave behind bits and pieces that can, and frequently do, disrupt the next rom you try to run. This is never a good thing, as it can cause anything from a bootloop to mysterious ghost like behaviors. Not to mention many things many not work correctly in your new rom.
Team Overcome has created, or basically repacked a way to do this. Many thanks!!!!
TeamOvercome website HERE
1) Go to Overcomes website, and download a zip called: ROM | 001001-GB-Stock-Safe-v5
(this is the base, non branded 'official' release of Gingerbread from Samsung. Overcome has made a few modifications to this file, and added Odin, modems and Samsung SGT driver installer to the zip)
2) While at the Overcome site, also download a zip called: KERNEL | 002001-Overcome Kernel V3.3.1 (TAR)
(this is a kernel made by AB, with some nice work done to it. But what we need it for is to convert our system to ext4. It will not run BOCA)
3) Unzip the GB-Stock zip, and open it up.
4) Open SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones_x86, and run it. This will reinstall, and clean up any old drivers for your tab.
5) plug in your tab when done, and let you computer fully install you SGT's drivers. Once its finished, unplug your tab.
6) Unplug any USB devices from your computer, & Open Odin3_v1.7, once it opens, plug your tab back in to your computer, in download mode.
Under ID:COM, a yellow window should now state your tabs is connected.
7) Place gt-p1000_mr.pit inside the PIT slot, PDA slot, place: GB_Stock_Safe_v5.tar
8) Make sure Re-partition, Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time are checked, press start.
9) Once finished, and your tab has rebooted, press reset in Odin. On your tab, skip through all the setup options, and reboot into download mode.
10) Plug your tab back into your computer, and place: 002001-Overcome_Kernel_v3.3.1.tar into the PDA slot, and press start.
11) Let your tabs sexy robot voice convert your system, once done, boot into recovery, clear everything, go to zip installer, and choose BOCA from your external SD card. Let install, and then reboot.
12) As with ANY rom, please do a full battery calibration with the included apk, ASAP.
13) Enjoy BOCA!!
INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS
(For when coming from BOCA, MIUI or unofficial port based off of CM71) Boot into your current recovery and clear dalvic cache
2) Go to zip installer and choose BOCA from your external SD card
3) Boot into BOCA, and reboot again.
4) As with ANY rom, please do a full battery calibration with the included apk, ASAP.
Sorry maybe I need new glasses but I can't find the link to download the rom from your website.

won't boot
- stock rom+dip7 kernel
- update zip by CWM
Edit. Latest Dip7 kernel may not compatible.
Flash gb safe v5 and overcome latest kernel then boca is ok.
Awesome! Feels faster!
Smooth transition from Secret Agent, restored all apps and system data using TB, just had to wipe Gmail.

But like I said, feel free to post here, as users like to see both the good and the bad before they decide.
try a reboot into BOCA ll Recovery, and do the cache whipes again.
If that don't work try a fix permissions.
No?
If that doest work, I need to check dip7 new kernel.
Its a new release that came after BOCA. Maybe its not compatable anymore.
If everything fails, u need to restock and try from a different kernel.
i have done like the guide will not boot. 1.5 works great for me. will v2 work with my euro tab?

Install, update & FAQ.
How do I install this properly and clean from another MIUI or CM based rom?
THIS WILL WIPE ALL YOUR DATA!
1: make full backup using miui backup (skip if you're on CM)
2: reboot into recovery and make a nandroid backup
3: do a factory reset and format /system
4: flash the .zip and reboot, if you came from CM you can skip the next steps
5: restore your miui backup
6: reboot
How do I update an existing MIUI/CM based rom and keeping my apps/data?
1: make full backup using miui backup (skip if you're on CM)
2: reboot into recovery and make a nandroid backup
3: goto mounts/storage and format /cache /system and wipe the dalvik cache
4: flash the .zip and reboot, if you came from CM you can skip the next steps
5: restore your miui backup, some system settings may have change between releases, so this will not always for all settings
6: reboot
FAQ:
Q: The phone is lagging like mad after first boot/flash.
A: This is normal, let the phone settle for a few minutes.
Q: Why can't I run things as root anymore?
A: Since MIUI 1.9.9 you have to enable root permissions. Open up the "Superuser" app, press the menu soft key, click settings and enable root permissions.
Q: How do I add more input languages to the GB keyboard?
A: Download them from the market or directly from here.
Extended settings issues:
Q: How do I remove the Google logo from the notification bar?
A: Open up "MIUI Control" app and go to "Carrier options" and then disable "Display carrier logo".
Q: The wall paper scrolling doesn't work.
A: To fix; open the menu on the mainscreen and goto Launcher. Disable and enable wallpaper scrolling and it should work. This only has to be done once.
Q: I've set an alarm but there is no icon to show it is enabled.
A: To fix; open MIUI Control app, go to Clock options and disable and enable the alarm icon. This only has to be done once.
(more to come)
First of all thank you!
Are there other langugages included than english/chinese?
it looks pretty god damn cool
This looks perfect for me as I wanted to try MIUI but thought some other ROM was to bloated.
edit: Damn, my phone is at 2%.. Gonna have to charge it up before trying it. :/
At the moment it is just English, but I'm sure you can apply the 1.8.26 language packs to this as it is pretty much stock, with some crud removed.
The miuiandroid.com guys did add some tweaks for GPS, which is mostly for Europe. For other users, replace /system/etc/gps.conf and /system/etc/telocation.db with these files. Just open up the ROM zip in 7zip/winrar/winzip and over write the ones in there, then flash as normal.
the FM is not included, am i right?
thanks.

As far as i Know the FM stuff isn't ported from CM yet, I'm going to give it a go later. If it works I will make an update.zip to add it.
Nevermind the above, it seems to be able to break your internal speaker for good: http://www.galnetmiui.co.uk/content/forum/index.php?topic=1258.0
I'll wait for a proper fix and kernel and/or app.
Battery life...
looks good. "congratulations"!. I wanted to do something the same but you beat me to it. Anyway, how is the battery life with Neo 17? Can you some report without all the bloats in it for battery life? So far, 1.8.26 MIUI.US is 1 1/2 a day on moderate use with data and wifi on. And it sleeps like a baby.
Thanks in advance.
Firstly it looks very gud!
Secondly how is the battery life ? I don't go out much so i don't want amazing battery life just average!
What are AOSP roms? ( I am not a noob but i have installed only jetpack rom till now which is very easy to install but i just want to know more before I flash this)
Then ,what is hashtab?and what do we have to check? Can't understand!
I couldn't understand the cache and all that clearing points can u explain them in easy step to step way?
Pls reply!

@bhuvan
AOSP refers to the Android Open Source Project. Google's phones are based on the AOSP. Any other phone manufacture has their own version of Android on their phones such as HTC (Sense), Samsung (Touchwiz), LG (variant of Touchwiz) etc...These are based on the AOSP but skinned to the manufacturer's needs..
If you wish to install MIUI, please ensure you have read and every installation step carefully. You need to 1st make sure that u hv gingerbread bootloaders. Since you are running Jetpack ROM, you should be on gb bootloaders...Once this is confirmed, simply put the MIUI ROM that you desire, go to recovery and flash the ROM....wait till it boots completely and voila...ur phone will never be the same again...
Once you are on MIUI, you'll never want to go back to samsung roms...as for the battery life...I get 48 hrs of medium usage - wifi (95% of the time and rest on 3.5g network), browsing, facebook, emailing (a lot), photos...
I'm sure you will have fun with MIUI...and there will be no turning back...If you wish to go back to Samsung based ROMs, just download any Speedmod kernel flashed via Odin and that's it...u r all set...
Hv fun..
I am on galaxian kernel right now so do I need to move to speedmod kernel? Also on more quick question main post says to replace some files but i don't have a computer right now so i can't but also I don't use GPS so can I install without changing that files ?

I installed it and believe me those who don't have this are missing out on Its pure awesomeness ! Too snappy to be true! Also the amount of customization you can do are unlimited! And i am loving these themes ! but i saw one thing that in battery use it says android os 89% and when I re-saw battery use it stated android os 19% so i think its showing wrong data!

So far so good, I installed this ROM last night and until now haven't encountered any problem yet. This ROM is just what I want, Galnet MIUI seems a bit bloated and unstable at the moment.
Thanks for the feedback! My battery life greatly depends on what I do. If i casually browse, make calls and maybe watch some you it lasts 1-2 days. Be sure to calibrate your battery though, its easy but time consuming but worth it.
I've been using this little mashup for ages based on the miuiandroid.com releases.
A little secret, a kitchen may be up soon. So you can brew your own MIUI, choose a kernel, gps tweaks EU/US/etc, pick a default theme, with MIUIthe possibilities are end;less. It is just sad the MIUI community seems fragmented now.
miuiandroid.com vs miui.us vs galnet vs. miui.com
Why can't we all get along and make an epic ROM we can all customize!
I want that, and I shall do my best to make it happen. We may have to follow the -stable branch and only add weekly updates/fixes when it concerns our phones.
Personally I like to run the latest stuff, but not at the price that I can't rely on this ROM to serve me when I simply need a phone

So, with that said, you will be updating this rom with weekly updates like miui without it getting bloated. This sounds good, as you have a fully working phone to use. Have you tried incorporating Neo 17 r8. Alot have reported it wurmth good battery life.

Clean AOSP 4.1.1
build 5 (JRO03R)
for the Verizon LTE Galaxy Nexus (toro)
Twitter: http://twitter.com/javroch_dev
Based off of the AOSP "android-4.1.1_rX" branch. it's a mostly bare ROM, basically just rooted. I'll slowly add the previous features back in subsequent builds. I redid everything clean, from the ground up, for 4.1.1.
NOTE: I don't know if this 4.1.1 release will bring a new kernel with it, when Verizon releases it. As well, I don't know if there will be a new radio/etc, but this ROM does not include those if so. radio.img's aren't released via AOSP as far as I know. Feel free to correct me, if I'm wrong.
Modifications:
The only modifications that I have made are listed below, mostly they include enabling features that are already included in AOSP's source code, but weren't enabled by default:
Here's what's made it so far for 4.1.1:
Root/Superuser (ChainsDD)
Wi-Fi Tethering Subscription Check Removal
Enabled Backup/Restore
Google Movies access fix (peteralfonso)
Root Settings/Selective Root (cyanogenmod)
Custom "Clean extras" settings panel
Settings shortcut to Clean extras for easy access
SIP+VoIP
Battery Percentage in Status bar (Icon, Text, or Both)
Fixed Facebook Contact Sync (romanbb)
Reboot/Safe mode Options in Power menu
Here's what's to come in the near future:
Screenshot Options in Power menu (DvTonder)
Airplane/Silent Mode toggles via Custom extras
Number of home screens Option in Clean Extras
Aside from the explicit credit given above, I also spent tons of time looking through the git repo's of cvcps, peteralfonso, cyanogen, and many others. As well, I often used howto.ccroms.net and source.android.com/source as references. I'm sure there are others I'm not giving credit to that should be getting it.
Let me know what you think or if anything is broken! This is still a learning experience for me. Nobody's perfect.

Just a heads up, I'm in the process of migrating everything over to github. As well, I'll be adding facebook sync and possibly one or two more tweaks hopefully tonight. Also, starting with the next release, I'll be naming them "Clean AOSP x.y.z build #". So, the update hopefully coming tonight will be "Clean AOSP 4.0.3 build 2". Any further tweaks / modifications will probably be added to a separate ROM, possibly Clean AOSP+, because I really want to keep Clean AOSP tweak free.
Build 2 posted, includes fixed Facebook Contact Sync. That's about it for now. Next thing I want to do is validate whether or not Google Wallet is working. I've been able to use NFC to beam, etc and everything else seems to be working fairly well so far. Let me know if anybody has any feedback for me
I tried to see if I could get Twitter's Contact Sync working in a similar fashion, but it seems it's an issue on their end: http://support.twitter.com/groups/3...cles/213727-known-issues-with-the-android-app
so to clarify...the apps like rom manager and terminal emulator will be removed?
I hate having to delete all the apps from CM9
thinking about making a rom that is as close to stock as possible (all google apps and stuff but its still going to be based on CM)
if your rom removes all this stuff....niiiceeeeeee.

My ROM isn't based on CM at all in any way whatsoever. It's based on AOSP source directly. So no, there won't be any ROM Manager or Terminal Emulator included by default. My goal for this ROM was actually exactly what you said, "[to make] a rom that is as close to stock as possible".
I'm not gonna add this as a "Modification" or anything... because I didn't really do anything to fix anything, but I just wanted to confirm that I was successfully able to use Google Wallet on Clean AOSP last night. Apparently, I just needed to "Reset Google Wallet" from when I flashed from stock
today, i will begin working on implementing the new root settings menu from cyanogenmod into clean aosp. i feel that this is really an essential feature for any ROM and so i think this is a necessary modification for clean aosp
I'm currently uploading build 3. should be up tonight / tomorrow. it includes the root settings menu under developer options. the menu provides four options "Disabled", "Apps Only", "ADB Only", and "Apps and ADB". currently the default in build 3 is "Apps Only", however i will probably be putting out a build 4 which defaults it to "Disabled". my code is mainly based off of cyanogenmod's commits mentioned in the blog post here, and functions much in the same way. cm doesn't build Superuser from source, but i do, so I also added some of my own code related to this in Superuser. basically in CM it would say that superuser had granted apps permissions if they were on the whitelist, even when root was disabled via the settings and they didn't actually have root. i plan on launching the developer's settings intent as well, if you get denied superuser permissions because the setting is disabled. this way you can easily re-enable it. but that isn't in build 3.
i should note that this way doesn't seem to give you access to google play movies. i like to think of it as a selective root, rather than completely removing root altogether. but, the main purpose of this is security, not to enable google play movies. i've been leaving mine on "Disabled", and i really don't find that i have to re-enable root very often.
posted build 3..
This sounds really awesome! Does the voip work and could you include an option to allow led with screen on?
I haven't used it as I don't have a VoIP account, but the options are there and should be enabled/working fine. I'm not sure what you mean by "allow led with screen on" to be honest.
Normally the led will only blink if the screen is off.

Got it, to be honest I'm sort of reluctant at this point to implement too many tweaks into Clean AOSP. I kind of want it to be as barebones as possible. But, as I am considering a few others, I might look into this one as well, either as part of Clean AOSP or as part of some Clean AOSP+ version with extra modifications that I might put out separately.
Either way, if you do give it a shot, let me know your findings related to VoIP. I have no reason to think it shouldn't work, but I haven't tried it yet.
Thanks for this!
What kernel are you using for this build? I assume the stock google one.
Including status bar toggles and soft key options would be the only mods I would look from the clean build.

I'm just using the stock Google one. Haven't changed anything there. Haven't really played around with kernel development.
Those are likely mods I'd include in some sort of Clean AOSP+ version as well. Along with reboot options, though those I might actually shoehorn into regular Clean AOSP as well. Either way, I will be looking to getting in some of these mods in either Clean AOSP or some other AOSP+ version when time permits.
I wanted to wait and get more features in, but I might be busy for the next week or so. So, here's build 4. The only change is that root is "Disabled" by default
I just saw that the AOSP 4.0.4 Source Code is being pushed out today. I'm gonna see if I can't get a build out in the next couple of days, probably just with the features I've implemented for 4.0.3
Foreword
Disclaimer: I take no credit for this rom. This CM10 Nightly was developed by a developer named "WFLSL" who posted his work on a Chinese forum called "fengbao.com" (Original link: http://bbs.fengbao.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=1219102)
Warning: I am not responsible for any outcomes made by this rom. Install this rom only if you agree that flashing a non-stock rom could result in bricking your your phone, meaning that your phone may be permanently non-functional.
WFLSL, the developer of this rom has been maintaining continuous works in making CM10 available for all LU6200 users, but because he only posted his work on that Chinese website, not many people from other countries know about it.
It is virtually impossible for users who do not speak Chinese to register and use Fengbao.com. Even if you somehow figure out how to register, you won't be able to continue because you can't get the download link which is only revealed upon posting a comment. To post a comment on Fengbao.com, you need to enter a captcha code in Chinese. Obviously most of international users do not know how to read and type in Chinese.
That's why I decided to start this thread to keep you guys with up-to-date CM10 available for our device.
Again I take no credit for this rom. I am not a native Chinese speaker. I am a Korean who just luckily know how to read the Chinese captcha code and enter it. All the thanks should be forwarded to "wflsl" for his great work.
Please note that I may not be able to update this thread as often as you all want me to, but I will try my best.
If there's any problem, moderators can delete this thread. It's 100% okay with me.
CM10 Nightlies for LU6200
This is CM10 Nightly created for LU6200 by WFLSL. (http://bbs.fengbao.com/thread-1181592-1-1.html) My guess is (because I do not fully understand the original post in the Chinese forum) that WFLSL made this rom by porting CM10 for p930. I believe he mentioned that the change log basically follows that of p930.
There are no special modifications or special features other than CM10 stock features. However, I made very simple and minor modifications to this rom 1) to make it more stockish and 2) to fill things that are missing.
1. removed Chinese keyboard.
2. removed Chinese-localized Root Explorer
3. removed an app called 'Rebooter'
4. modified build.prop to change the default language and location to English and US. WFLSL made this default since the December build.
5. removed a script that reboots the device after installing the rom.
6. removed unnecessary server lists in hosts file under system\etc\. This caused issues in using Play Store and some Google services.
7. modified [init.qcom.post_boot.sh] under system\etc\. to make mpdecision and thermald work on LU6200. See the following codes. Texts in red has been added. WFLSL made this default since the December build. So this change is now there already.
Code:
# Post-setup services
case "$target" in
"msm8660_surf" | "msm8660_csfb" | "i_atnt" | "hdk_8x60" | "i_skt" | "i_dcm" | "p930" | "su640"[B][COLOR="Red"] | "lu6200"[/COLOR][/B])
start mpdecision
start thermald
;;
esac
Also in the same file, I changed the following value from 0 to 1. When this is 0, the back light of the touch buttons (menu / home / back) does not work. If you prefer to keep them off, open up this file using Root Explorer or the likes and change the value back to 0.
Code:
echo [B][COLOR="Red"]1[/COLOR][/B] > /sys/class/leds/button-backlight/max_brightness
Installation Instruction
1. Boot into CWM.
2. Back up your current rom.

Issues
- If you find your home button does not work after flashing a new rom, you probably flashed wrong Gapps. (Flashing Gapps for Android 4.2 will cause this.) To solve this problem, flash the correct one linked above. If this doesn't fix, factory-wipe your phone, format system, then flash CM10 and gapps.
- Some reported (including myself) that recording 1080p with stock camera is problematic.
Again, I am not the developer of this rom. If you find a bug and can speak Chinese, please visit the original developer's page and report there. My support will be very very limited because I am not a developer at all. (Original link: http://bbs.fengbao.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=1219102)
Thank You
Thanks for your great effort mate in bringing this out for us.
Thank you for sharing this and thank you for the changes you made. Those are the usual changes I do in all the ROMs I use. Thank you for saving me the trouble.
TQ for this rom. it's stable so far
Wow first time for JB

And thank you too, and to be honest (and not hopefully not being offensive) Optibean has too many other things you have added (like HoloLauncher), some users might not want it and don't want to mess with /system/apps/. So a clean ROM like this one might actually help.
Thank You

Thank you for the support and suggestions. By the way OptiBean will be release in three diff. files:
1st - A clean slate ROM
2nd- A Medium ROM [Minimal Add-ons] Around 200mb size
2nd - Heavy ROM [Lots of System Add-on Apps]
That will be its next release.
Holo launcher was removed and replaced by the latest Trebuchet launcher and some optimization has been made with the ROM.
Hope you will like the next release of Optibean.
PS: Sorry for my bad english

Try to turn off wifi when you are not using it. I get average of 1.5% drain if I don't use the phone.
If I leave the wifi on, I also get bad battery life.
If you encounter some ghosting effect (graphic issues) in games like Dead Trigger, try to check "Disable HW overlays" option in Developer options (Settings). this solved my graphic issues.
Everything else is smooth and fast. Battery drains a little faster but tolerable. All in all a great ROM.
The best part is, the original poster gives a full detail of what he changed and never claims the ROM as his release and gives full credit to original developer.
This just replaced MIUI on my phone.

I use profile apps to automatically disablle/enable wifi/bluetooth/gps/etc based on time/schedule.
Just posted 20121125 build. (Same minor modification applied.)
There seem to be very minor changes according to the change log. If you are happy with 1121 build, you can skip this one in my opinion.
One thing I did notice was that the original developer, WFLSL, inserted a new 'hosts' file under system / etc folder. There're a bunch of server lists for Google services, and I am not sure what they are for. (These weren't there in 1121 build.) If you encounter any problem while web browsing or using any Google services, open 'hosts' file and delete everything after the first 2 lines as shown below, save the changes, and reboot.
Code:
#local
127.0.0.1 localhost
i just flashed version 20121125
only 1 problem is play store doesn't load any images T T
try to uninstall latest version 3.10.x the one that come along with this rom
to be older version of 3.9.x but still the same T T
Edited: just notice pins2u said above...i changed hosts file as you said and it's okay now TQ

I think it's not because of the play store, but the file called "hosts" located in system/etc.
Please follow the procedure below.
Open the file with root explorer. You will see bunches of lines.
Delete everything except for the first 2 lines.
It should have only 2 lines as shown below.
Code:
#local
127.0.0.1 localhost
Save it and reboot.
See if it helps. I haven't test the rom myself yet, but will report back when I do.

Shiny ROM: Android 4.4.4, KTU84P for Galaxy Nexus (Maguro)
Skip right to the downloads (if you dare )
Hello there XDA GNex community! I'll admit this is a pretty spontaneous post; I've been building ROMs from the Android Open Source (Project) for awhile now, but I've never "published" any of them. I myself used to own a Verizon Galaxy Nexus, so I've always built from AOSP to make sure I'm as up to date as possible. Well, that's a little background so let's get going with the overview of the ROM itself:
Overview
This ROM is Android KitKat 4.4.4, build KTU84P. The ROM is built directly from source, that is, the Android source code published by Google available for download to all of us developers. The reason I say the ROM is "OTA-like" is because I make VERY few modifications to it, aside from the things that it takes to get the ROM working. I'll go into detail about those things below, but basically I just want the ROM to make your phone feel stable and shiny and new as if it has just received a new OTA update. That being said, it's clear that the landscape of Nexus devices is changing as new ones are released. Therefore, the other primary goal of this ROM is to keep our Galaxy Nexus as close to the modern Nexus design as possible. This means that I will also add in features that will still be stock, but will also make our phones as close to a current Nexus as possible.
As for how I handle the forum side of things, I'm always open to comments, questions, suggestions, requests, etc. I know that most of those things will often be in the form of criticism, but it's okay, I think I can handle it That being said, I do also have a life and am a college student, so I may not get to come on here ALL the time. I will check back as frequently as possible, and I'm hoping that you guys will help each other out as much as possible! Keep it friendly! So now for the details...
Features
Stock Android 4.4.4, build KTU84P
Source (AOSP) built kernel (boot.img)
Easily rootable (see information below)
G-Apps (GMail, Play Store, etc.) included in build along with Nexus apps
Stock browser replaced with Google Chrome
Shiny restart options - access them by holding down the power button and then long pressing on "Power Off"
All the crazy Google proprietary app stuff has been taken care off
Updated frequently
Everything works!
So what do I mean when I say "Everything works!"?
I'm sure by now you all know that when someone says that, it usually ends up not being true. This ROM is not an exception to that rule, but I can say that I've tested most of the things that would be expected to work in stock Android, such as...
WiFi Tethering (no subscription check)
Bluetooth streaming
Google account sign-in and auto-restore of apps and settings
Google Wallet
Location Services (pretty fast GPS lock in my area also)
Photosphere
Android beam
Photo editing with the new filters
Email
Exchange support
Like I said, the normal stuff (data, voice, hardware acceleration, etc.)
More things that aren't important enough to mention here - check out the changelog for a more comprehensive list
Possible Bugs
It's impossible for me to test for and notice EVERY single possible bug in the operating system, so as of right now I can't say that there are any, although I'm sure you will find some. If you do, report them here!
Other IMPORTANT Information
Root
But wait, nothing in this post said anything about root!!!11!!1!1!!! That's right, my ROM does NOT have root built in! (I don't use any root apps, and it's important to the whole "OTA-like" theme). That being said, the ROM is easily rootable; I made sure of this because I know that many, many of you will use root for many useful purposes. If you want to root the ROM, it's as easy as installing Chainfire's new superuser control app/su with this ZIP file. More detailed information can be found in the "Installation Instructions" section. **NOTE** If you are rooted and upgrading to a new build, you should not have to reflash the rooting flashable ZIP because the ROM will keep root for you.
Updates
Now that the ROM has gotten to this stage, the update policy needs a bit of editing Based on the stats I have access to from the website host and data that I collect myself, it seems like Shiny ROM is currently (as of May 27, 2014) stable for at least 80% of the users who have downloaded it. Based on this, and because the ROM is stock, Nexus-like, it doesn't really make sense to update the ROM as frequently as before. The ROM will still be updated as soon as possible after new versions of Android are released. In between Android versions, I will work on making things 100% stable, although that goal isn't always attainable with older devices and aging hardware support. If we decide to explore other paths for the ROM, you will see many more updates If/when the time comes for me to stop updating Shiny ROM, I will let everyone know in a clear way.
Radios
This ROM will (most likely) work with any maguro radios (so long as you have the appropriate ones for your device/area; however, I of course recommend using the most recent radios doe your device. You can find flashable ZIPs of all radio versions in the download post.
Bootloader
Once again, I'm assuming that this ROM will work with all tuna bootloaders; BUT for optimal experience and performance, use the newest Google-approved bootloader, PRIMEMD04. My ZIP installation package for that bootloader can be downloaded here.
ClockworkMod Recovery
I personally recommend using ClockworkMod Recovery as it has always worked well for me with no quirks. Android 4.2 messed up a few aspects of recoveries because of its multi-user system. ClockworkMod Recovery has been updated to correct some of these issues, and I recommend updating to the most recent version, 6.0.4.7. You can flash either the touch recovery or non-touch recovery image through fastboot OR you can download my flashable recovery update ZIP (touch/non-touch) and flash it in recovery. Check out the installation instructions for more details on this.
Some Other Not-so-important Information
Naming Conventions
All of my ROM ZIP files are automatically generated by my build computer. All builds begin with the prefix ShinyROM_maguro_aosp. That prefix is always followed by the date in mmddyy format (e.g. 112212), a hyphen ("-"), and the time in 24-hour, hhmmss format (e.g. 153945). Finally, all builds end with the "signed" suffix - it just helps me know which packages have finished building and which have not. Hopefully this helps everyone to know which update is newest; I stay away from version numbers because I let Google do all of the version control.
Source
In keeping with the spirit of open-source, all relevant Shiny ROM code can be viewed on Github. I'm not extremely experienced with Github, so bear with me as I learn! Thank you!
File Hosting
I've switched over from using Dev-host to a privately hosted site, graciously and generously given to me by user Goofball. Dev-host is still an amazing service, but it's much more convenient for me to use a privately hosted site, plus I get my own suburl and FTP access! HUGE thanks to Goofball! The private hosting will definitely help me deliver a better experience to you guys as far as downloading goes. You can view all of my uploaded, public files here: http://shinyrom.goofball.org/
Also, if anyone ever wants to mirror for me, please feel free so long as you keep the file name and the file itself intact. As for everyone who downloads from a posted mirror: BE CAREFUL! Always use a virus scanner and be careful with what you are putting on your device!
Installation Instructions (VERY IMPORTANT - Note: You can flash all of these ZIPs in CWM or TWRP*)
*Android 4.4 KitKat builds must be installed using the latest version of your preferred recovery!
ROM
1. Download the latest version of the ROM from the download post. (Also download any other files you will need to install, such as Chainfire's SuperSU Root ZIP, radio installation ZIPs, the bootloader installation ZIP, etc.)
2. Put the file(s) you downloaded in step 1 on your phone's internal storage (sdcard).
3. Turn off your phone.
4. Boot into the bootloader of the phone by holding down both volume buttons and the power button simultaneously until you feel a vibration and see a large arrow that says "Start".
5. Use the volume keys to change the arrow until it says "Recovery," then press the power button to boot into recovery.
6. Because of differences in recovery types, I will make the following steps rather generic.
7. Wipe cache.
8. Wipe dalvik cache.
9. If you want to be 100% sure there are no problems, wipe data. If you are coming from another ROM or Android version, wipe data. If you do not wipe data and something goes wrong, repeat this process but wipe data - this step is not necessary if you are simply upgrading.
10. If you are updating your radios, flash the radio ZIP
11. If you are updating your bootloader, flash PRIMEMD04-signed.zip
12. Flash the ROM (ShinyROM_maguro_aosp...signed.zip)
13. If you are rooting, flash Chainfire's SuperSU ZIP file - this step is not necessary if you were rooted on the previous build and are simply upgrading.
14. Reboot your phone, and enjoy!
**Note: If you are simply upgrading to a new version of the ROM and want to keep root, follow the exact instructions above, and do not format /system. It really is not necessary to format /system at any time (unless specifically noted), as the ROM installer has this function built in.
Mods
1. Download the latest version of the mod(s) you wish to install from the download post.
9. Install the mod(s) you downloaded in step 1.
10. Fix permissions (not really necessary)
11. Reboot and enjoy!
**Note: You can remove all mods you've installed by dirty flashing the latest version of the ROM.
ClockworkMod Recovery (Fastboot method - must have an unlocked bootloader and fastboot in your path)
1. Download either the CWM touch recovery image or non-touch recovery image to your computer and rename it to "recovery.img".
2. Power off your phone.
3. Boot into the bootloader of the phone by holding down both volume buttons and the power button simultaneously until you feel a vibration and see a large arrow that says "Start".
4. Plug your phone into your computer using the standard USB cable.
5. Open the command prompt/terminal and navigate to the folder where your "recovery.img" is saved.
6. Type "fastboot devices" to make sure your phone is recognized; a serial number should show up on the screen.
7. Type "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" and wait for the process to complete (should be quick).
8. You're done! Use the volume keys to select "Recovery" and boot into your new recovery!
ClockworkMod Recovery (Flashable ZIP method - easier)
If you are updating your recovery before flashing a ROM, these steps should ALL be completed PRIOR to flashing the ROM.
1. Download either the touch recovery flashable ZIP or the non-touch recovery flashable ZIP.
2. Place the ZIP file downloaded in step 1 on your internal storage/sdcard.
6. Choose "Install update from sdcard"
7. Select "Choose file from sdcard"
8. Find the flashable recovery ZIP file you downloaded and install it
9. Back up to the root menu of recovery
10. Select "advanced"
11. Select "reboot recovery"
12. The phone should boot up into your new recovery!
Credits
As with most ROMs, I only did a small part to get everything together. Also, a note that should be made here is that when I am using someone else's file, I ALWAYS host files on the Shiny ROM server to ensure that I don't put any unnecessary stress on their servers. Any file, however, still belongs to and is accredited to its original creator as listed below:
Willyjay - For providing us with lots of amazing and innovative mods for the ROM!
Inmanster - Another great modder who we are fortunate to have here in the thread. He works in collaboration with Willyjay and his mods for many things, but also does some of his own unique mods!
Chainfire - For their SuperSU app and su binary, as well as the convenient ZIP update package, which was previously used and recommended. Check out their website, http://www.chainfire.eu/
Groupers - My new buddy who helped me out with a GPS issue that popped up in 4.2.
Google - Without their amazing staff and willingness to share the source code of their operating system, I wouldn't have been able to build this ROM! Of course, all of the Google apps are theirs, along with the Play Store and system apps. They really are the true owners of all of this.
Samsung - We all may have some mixed feelings about them, but in the end they gave us the amazing, hackable phone that is the Galaxy Nexus.
XDA - By providing such a great Android community, ROMs like this one are able to easily connect with users and get their work out there
Dev-Host - The file-sharing service with virtually no limits on sharing - kudos to them and their hard work. d-h.st
Koush and the ClockworkMod/ROM Manager Team - They make the best recovery that's been around for longest, and their constant updates allow us to keep making ROMs! Also, Koush's recently released open source Superuser control app is the best available and the one linked to in the thread. Thanks Koush! clockworkmod.com
Kevdliu - Huge thanks to this dev and their amazing quick settings mod!
The CyanogenMod Team - For a working implementation of DSPManager on Android which can be ported to any AOSP-based ROM! Without them and Bigwavedave25, the DSP manager mod would not be available! Be sure to thank them and to check out the CyanogenMod website! Also, for their feature-filled version of the stock Messaging app which is available as a mod for my ROM!
bouchigo - a user who has helped to make the CM10 Messaging app available as a mod for my ROM in conjunction with Willyjay for bringing it to my attention.
Schoat333 - A user who helped out Willyjay with the bubble styled MMS mods. The credit for the screenshots to go along with the mods goes to him!
Yarly - The most experienced admin I've ever had the pleasure of talking with, who taught me some new debugging tricks and answered some of my questions.
Razorloves - Another admin who helped me out with a few problems and answered a lot of my questions!
Tiny4579 - A kernel dev who also took the time to talk with me and answer a few of my questions.
Thanks to everyone for their hard work and sharing that work with others!
DISCLAIMER
Come on guys, it's a Galaxy Nexus, to what extent could it really get messed up? Nonetheless, in case someone flashes this then puts their phone in the microwave or something and tries to blame it on me, I am not directly responsible for anything that occurs, either negative or positive, from flashing this ROM to your phone. Despite that, I am posting in the spirit of the Android community, a community that I have embraced and belonged to for several years, and I would never try to hurt any of your innocent, beautiful phones. Also, none of the original source for Android belongs to me, nor do any of Google's apps. All preinstalled applications are property of Google, Inc. and I make no claim of ownership to them.

Mods
Before installing any of the packages below, please be sure to check out the mod installation instructions in the OP!
Key
To make mod installation more convenient, all mod links will now be color-coded based on the files they change. The key shows what each color corresponds with:
Red - SystemUI.apk
Blue - framework-res.apk
Purple - SystemUI.apk & framework-res.apk
Green - Other
If you install mods that are in the same color group, it is likely that they will overwrite each other. It is OK to overwrite a previously installed mod, but please note that the originally installed mod will no longer be there. If you want to completely revert to stock, flash the "Back to Stock ZIP" mod under the baldwinguy77 mod section. This mod replaces your SystemUI.apk and framework-res.apk files with ones from the stock ROM.
Developer-specific Mods
All of these mods have been provided by some really awesome mod developers who take the time to continue to make updated mods for my newest ROM builds. That being said, they have lives and can't always get the mods out right away, so make sure the date next to their name matches the build you're running! They usually are around the thread and are open to doing custom mods if you ask Be sure to thank them and check out the credits section for more info!
Baldwinguy77 (Updated for 8/9/14 build)
Back to Stock ZIP - Returns you to the stock version of the ROM by removing SystemUI and framework-res mods.
Stock kernel flashable ZIP - Overwrites any custom kernel you have installed with the stock kernel normally packaged with the ROM.
Inmanster (Updated for 3/9/14 build)
36 DPI Nav. Bar - Replaces the stock navigation bar with a smaller (height-wise), 36 DPI version.
Black Dash-style Softkeys - Replaces the stock navigation bar buttons with black, dash-style ones.
Blue Stock Softkeys - Replaces the stock navigation bar buttons with blue-colored ones.
Carrier Text Replacement - Replaces the carrier text on the lockscreen and pulldown notification shade with "Galaxy Nexus".
Extended Battery Framework Mods - Improve accuracy of battery level reporting for those using extended batteries.
2100 mAh (with Carrier Text Replacement mod)
3050 mAh
3800 mAh
5900 mAh (with No CRT-off Animation mod)
Grey Battery Percentage - Enables display of the current battery percentage in the status bar with grey-colored font.
InmanMod - A combination of the 2100 mAh battery, no CRT-off animation, carrier text, 36 DPI nav. bar, and white zenyth softkeys mods.
No CRT-off Animation - Removes the stock, default CRT-like screen off animation.
White Zenyth-style Softkeys - Replaces the stock navigation bar buttons with white, zenyth-style ones.
Universal Mods & Downloads
These mods have been compiled by myself, sometimes in conjunction with the modders above, to always work with any version of the ROM (but not necessarily any device). Therefore, you don't have to worry so much about these being up-to-date because they should always work. If that is ever not the case, simply PM me and we'll get it fixed This section also includes some other Verizon Galaxy Nexus related downloads such as the latest radios and bootloader. You can use these according to the installation instructions in the OP.
Universal Mods
AOSP Web Browser (for Android 4.4) - Installs the AOSP web browser with Chrome bookmark syncing for Android 4.4.
DSP Manager (for Android 4.4) - Installs the DSP Manager app along with the audio libs and configs important to running the service, allowing you to customize the audio equalizer of your device. At the moment, certain apps on Android 4.4 do not work with the modular DSP service.

No GApps "Add-on" Zip
Some people don't like the way ShinyROM includes its own GApps. Flash this zip directly after the ROM and it will strip out most of the included GApps so that you may use the preferred GApps of your choosing. This will leave the core GApps (Store, Services, etc.) as well as any others required for basic functionality (Keyboard, Camera, Launcher, Dialer, etc.) since there are none of the AOSP counterparts included.
This is particularly handy for GApps packages that try to measure the free space and may fail to install if it feels there isn't enough room.
Enjoy!
Finally! Boom!

No worries! I actually love having the GApps included, but a lot of people were fussing about it in Sesme's port thread so I thought I'd help out.
Also if you're interested, on xda here we've got a complete maguro radio thread and CWM thread I maintain:
[REF] [RADIO] [GSM] Galaxy Nexus GT-i9250 Baseband Collection & Discussion
[RECOVERY] [GN] [GSM] ClockworkMod Recovery Official + Nightlies [Flashable Zip]
:good:
Is this rom lagging for anyone? Right after I flash it I can't even pass the Setup Wizard ..
Just awesome man! The port was already the best ROM. Pure stock, and I can tell you, it's blazing fast!

Great work man!
Official build both on toro and maguro now, could you make one for toroplus?
We need your awesome rom!

Awesome! Exactly what we need.
Giving this ROM a go.
Nice to see its official now. But on post #1 there are some reference to rootzwiki as xda and I know its probably a copy+paste thing that's why. Just pointing it out

Hey there! I'd love to push out builds for toroplus as well - I think it's safe to say that's next in the pipeline.

Oops! I thought I got all of the necessary edits but I missed the one right at the beginning! *Facepalm* Thank you for pointing that out - it's fixed now
Are those battery Extended Battery Framework zips compatible with maguro? I downloaded them from toro's RootzWiki thread a while ago and they were giving me a bootloop
Also, can I use them with other ROMs?
Inviato dal mio Galaxy Nexus utilizzando Tapatalk
I've read that it's not possibile to flash ROM over a stock 4.3 rom.
Someone can confirm this? Also if I wipe /cache partition and Dalvik cache?
Investigating it seems that zip file contains an update script which only overwrites the entire /system mount point.
So, what are the consequences of updating ROM over a stock 4.3 rom?
