I'm also facing the same battery drain problem after the .101 firmware update. 9% of battery lost in 3 hours of standby. earlier it was only 1%.
this update was supposed to improve the battery life. What a joke by SONY

I fought this for days and it drove me crazy.

I think I figured out the problem. I have a 64GB Micro SD that I had pretty full with music. I've used it without problems for at least 6 months in my Xperia before the update. After the update I noticed an extreme battery drain and it reported that "Media" was using an unusually high amount of resources. So, I removed the card and now I get phenomenal battery life using Stamina. If I don't actively use the device it will only drain less than 1%/hour. Not bad under heavy use also.
I've been out of town since all this started and I haven't had a chance to reformat my MicroSD. I am hoping that if I reformat and slowly add back in some media that it might not reoccur.

Hi guys!
I've bought Arc about month ago and I've noticed a problem with battery percentage, it has oscillations. For example, battery is on 25% and suddenly drops to 2 or 3% and for a while battery is on 18%, or battery is on 84%, suddenly drops to 74% and soon comes back on 85%. I've restarted the phone, repaired software but the problem is still here.
Battery life is very good, average life is 36-48 hours, but there is a problem with oscillation. Can anyone tell me what should I do?
Software version is 2.3.3.
Let me search that for you http://www.google.com/cse?q=Battery...sc.tab=0&gsc.q=Battery problem Arc&gsc.page=1
Hmmm... Why didn't I think of that?
My problem isn't 0% battery or short battery life. Read my post again and than answer me.

Best way to fix it is battery calibrate....but it needs root.
And when it drops and raise 2-3% its quite normal. My Neo doing thiskind drop raise trick when I make reboot and for me its not problem

Hi Sidious
It sounds like your battery are fluctuating more than normal, a drop of 20% is definitely not normal unless you are doing allot of booting and flashing at the same time.
One cause of the smaller oscillations could be that battery is not read as often when in deepsleep to save battery life. It might have some battery level estimations when you wake up the phone that are off by a few % when the next battery reading occur. Might also be temperature changes that also change the capacity slightly.
@ ShyamSasi
Arc isn't rooted.

I'm not sure what did you mean by saying that I'm doing allot of flashing and booting at the same time?

Battery sensing module automatically calibrates when it discharge from 100% to 2% or lower. So, let it discharge a few times to 2%, and try to do a light use (no games, etc) doing this, to help fuel gauge module to detect internal battery impedance and correct the % marking.

Hi Sidious
If you had the bootloader unlocked and was flashing new kernels or firmwares. I have noticed that the phone when in "fastboot" mode do not charge but consumes allot of battery, it usually shows as a sharp drop when the phone are booted up. "fastboot" can be used to flash new kernels on the phone, but I do not think this is the problem in your case when you are running the SE provided firmware only.

Since you bought it yesterday, I'm gonna assume you were playing a lot with it and installing numerous apps? Thats the only reasonable cause I see. Try it for few more days, and let it upgrade to latest software via PC companion, if not done already (the latest software extends battery life a lot)
Stock battery charge is only goof for a short span of time. Drain the battery completely out of juice thwn charge it. You'll get max power on the initial charging.

its a new battery..so give it some time to adjust..new batteries require few charging and discharging cycles before it gives its peak performance..report here after few weeks if you are still having some problem.
battery callibration method might solve your problem..
Recently I updated my tablet to the stock 4.4 room via the OTA update.
Since then, my battery life has gone horrendous.
Android OS takes up most of the battery when the tablet is idle.
With ~2 hours of screen time and a day on the battery, it has drained down to 30%.
Anyone facing similar issues?

The battery meter is just an estimation of battery life. It shouldn't be expected to be that accurate (within a few or even 5 or 10%), nor should you make a habit of draining your phone to below 10% anyway.

(Fck you google) and standy by time is much improved as well.... 1% battery drain in 2.5 hours on standby...... i m one stock lollipop .. unrooted as well... quite satisfied. now... i m happy to go for htc and not samsung because they have drastic problemss with lollipop
Im planning to buy OnePlus 9 pro phone, everything in this phone is perfect for my needs except the battery life. almost all the reviews on the internet suggest that the battery life of the phone is average, and some site say it's worse than that of the oneplus 8 pro, even though both phones have roughly the same battery capacity with the oneplus 9 pro having more efficient display and processor. so do you think it will be improved soon with a software update? and for those how bought the oneplus 8 pro at lunch last year, did you experience the same issue?
It charges to 100% in under 30min...
So seriously, what is it that you do all day where you need to have your screen on for 6-7h, hard usage, without any acces to a power plug to charge it?
Are you a ranger in a Safari Park that tracks Rhino's?
Battery life isn't great, but I top it off for about 10-15 minutes late afternoon (half a charge or so) and I'm good to go. I'll keep my old 30W charger (from my 7 Pro) in my car just in case I'm ever caught with a low battery, but it doesn't seem to be an issue. I certainly welcome any improvements, though.
Usually, ota updates have battery performance improvements...
In the summer i will be moving back home where frequent blackouts are a common thing specially during the hot days, that is why im worried about battery life. and i dont like carrying power banks.
Anyway thanks guys for the replys, and hope future updates would include battery improvements.

I've upgraded from a Samsung Galaxy Note 9. I'm really surprised how quickly my phone has died the past few days at work. Only gets me through about 8hr of listening to podcasts, screen off before I hit 20%. I hope that something improves because I was hoping with this phone I'd be able to get through more of my day without charging.
It's astonishing to me that all the improvements to hardware and particularly power efficiency over the years have resulted in... the same SOT and battery life in general as my four old phone. Progress

They'd rather have the phone charge from 0 to 100% in about 30 minutes so that's their *solution* to the "problem".
Idle or standby battery drain is too much.. Anyone facing that? How to reduce it. My phone was charged 90% in the night. After 9 hrs standby, battery went to 67%. Thats too much battery drain

Mine drains about 5-6 % in 9 h standby. Always-on disabled. Try disabling "listen to hey google all the time", that might be the culprit.
As someone else stated earlier, my battery was horrible when I first got it for a couple of days, then without doing anything, it just got better, like a normal phone. No complaints now. That was my only gripe.
Btw a new update that ends .3.3 seems to be rolling out in India and should further improve battery life. it's great to see they're doing something, hope battery life will get even better.

Same problem here (AOD disabled).
Yeah I now have my phone for 2 days, it's a garbage battery!
It drains like close to 20% per hour of 'light usage', with low brightness only FHD......
Also it drains the battery even when it's supposed to be Idle (no AOD)!
Will probably return this ****.
