Well flashing doesnt really delete any data... But the problem is when you move to 4.1.2 from 4.2.2, then device goes into boot loop for which you will have to perform factory reset which erases the data.
If you get lucky and wont get into bootloop, then your data is safe. But always take backup for safer side.

Hello,
Thank you in advance who ever reply to this.
Problem is i updated my device to 4.2.2 recently with odin. Before doing that I made a (nand) backup of my 4.1.2 stock rom.
As most people having problems with 4.2.2. my phones heats up and battery draining quickly 3 hours and its 10% which is very bad.
When I try to restore 4.1.2 nand , My phone gets stuck on "Samgung Galaxy grand i9082" logo and nothing happens. I restored 4.2.2 backup and its working fine.
I assume its kernal problem. Can i restore kernal to 4.1.2 with odin? I do have stock firmware downloaded already.
Thank you!

Thank you for your reply.
It means that there is no way to go back to 4.1.2
I was thinking if i could:
1. Flash 4.1.2 stock firmware which will return me 4.1.2 stock kernal. (with odin).:fingers-crossed:
2. Once i am on 4.1.2 kernal i restore my nand and get back to my stock rooted rom.
Any ideas?
EDIT:
I tried it and end up in boot loop. I have no idea of which firmware my phone had. because i purchased it online and was shipped from Hong Kong. Manufactured in veitnam . I tried Veitnam firmware , Malaysian and now i will try india, pakistan, KSA respectively. This thread is not that active.
Anyone whos reading if you have any suggestions please try to help me.

Is there a way to downgrade the Galaxy Note 2 N7100 from 4.3 to 4.1.1 firmware because I've been foolish enough to flash a 4.3 custom ROM without making a backup of the EFS. The phone has a service provider sim lock, so I need to downgrade to 4.1.1 or is there any work around to sim unlock my note2 on 4.3 without rollback the firmware to 4.1.1?
EDIT:
I'm currently using my Note2 outside the origin of the phone which is the Philippines, I'm currently residing in Manama Bahrain.
You can try to find the newest version for your phone, country and carrier on http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/1/
I have not tried to downgrade with Odin, but I'm guessing it would work.
efs restoring query??
hello everyone, i ve a efs backup, backedup wen im running on 4.3 (xxuemj5). is it possible to go back to 4.1.2 (N7100XXDMB2) and restore tat backup (backed up on 4.3)? i had a prob (" not registered on a network") last time wen i went back to 4.1.2.
thanks in advance-
I don't need the newest one, I need to find a firmware with a sim unlock app compatibility.
Then download the last version that worked for you.

I wanted to downgrade to a lower version of the N7100 firmware, preferably 4.1.1 since I need the sim unlock. The phone is locked to a Philippine telecom, I'm currently asituated overseas - I want to use the phone overseas, hence, the need for the sim unlock is dire.
EDIT:
One more thing, the EFS backup and nandroid backup got deleted when I wiped(accidentally) the sd card.

Yes, what I did was;
Enter download mode > Flash a custom recovery (It was TWRP in my case) > Reboot > Flash a 4.1.2 based ROM
*I was quite lucky though since I flashed a ROM with a separate zip for the new modem, I got stuck in the process of a full reboot after flashing the ROM. Whence, this should be the sequence I'm supposed to do to make the ROM work;
Full wipe > Flash ROM > Reboot > Go on with setup > Wait for the boot sequence to finish > Reboot > Flash newer modem > Reboot
*I got stuck on the first reboot routine*

another issue regarding the downgrade
Hi,
my N7105 is rooted, 4.3 is installed, knox had been installed but was deleted using Titanium backup. Now i want to flash it back to 4.1.2 again, but:
odin doesn't recognize the phone, i don't have any files to try flashing it via recovery mode and the official update function doesn't work, because it's rooted. I also don't know, if flashing via the recovery mode would work at all.
Am i bound to 4.3 forever?
Generally i simply want to downgrade to 4.1.2 as i can't see any advantage in 4.3 or -if possible- would like to try cyanogen
Best regards
Gerald

Hi.. i rooted my note 2 n7100 when it had 4.1.2 . Then i flashed dr ketans v3 rom n got 4.3. Really awesome rom . But now when the official 4.3 update came,i restored back to my 4.1.2 backup , i did a full unroot. I flashed stock kernel and stock recovery, reset the counter to 0 . And tried OTA. But did not help. So i flashed official 4.3 firmware by odin . All is good now, but when i go into Settings> More tab> About Device> Status> it shows device status custom. Why so!! Also when i try to search for update(i know there isnt one) it keeps on searching . Will i never get future updates by OTA ?? Plzz help. Even ODIN shows that my device is official!!!

So Ive recently updated my Sony Xperia ZL to KitKat and I dont like it at all. It slowed down the performance and drains my battery. My question is: Is there a way to downgrade and go bak to Jellybean without having my device Rooted? That is all, thank you so much if u can figure it out.
P.S. If i erase all data of my phone by going back to Factory Settings, will this revert bak to Jellybean?
no.. reset factory will reset phone to default state in current version of android... u need to reflash 4.3 firmware using flash tool..

I need to downgrade from 4.4 to 4.2 stock because I'm experimenting with Samsung's DriveLink app, which does not work on Cyanogenmod 10.1, 10.2, 11.0 or 12.1. It's reported to work on stock 4.2 but not on 4.4.
I don't know for sure what OS came with my phone, but I believe it's 4.2. I made a backup of this right before I flashed Cyanogenmod the first time, but I can't get it to work through Odin. I get SW REV CHECK FAIL: FUSED 2 > BINARY 1
A downgrade must be possible. I went from Cyanogenmod 12.1 to 10.1 and successfully re-flashed the stock 4.4. Just 4.2 doesn't work. How do I do this?
Here's the rom I was trying to flash: oh, I guess no links.

This is probably due to the bootloader version. The only firmware 4.2.2 that will work with the latest bootloader is the latest Brazil 4.2.2. Are you using the model i9195 LTE model?

No only the firmware described here will work http://www.s4miniarchive.com/2014/...y-s4-mini-from-kitkat-to-jelly-bean.html?m=1 . Maybe you can change the boot loader? I don't know. But that Brazil rom worked for me. But I'm back with kit kat as I didn't like jb.

That brazil firmware has latest knox bootloader. The same one found with kitkat roms. So you can only flash that jellybean firmware.
You cannot flash old bootloader as you will get the error you mentioned earlier. Samsung used some protocol that prevents writing older
version onto knox. Thats how it is.
I flashed the I9195UBUBNE2 but I can't get passed the boot animation. It's possible my phone shipped with Kitkat. Any ideas?

Did you try factory reset ? Remove and reinsert battery. Enter recovery mode using 3 button combo, it should be stock samsung recovery.
Choose factory reset/wipe data options. Once it is done choose reboot. It should boot up just fine.

Did this to me. Pulling the battery and wiping data/cache worked for me and it booted.
That was probably the case. I cleared the cache, reset the data, and re-flashed the ROM and it works beautifully. Great find with the Brazilian ROM, thanks!
