Is it a possible bug or something iffy with that boot cycle? (volume was on, calls have worked before on things I am running, and saw missed calls on Gmail)
Check and see if Sprint is updating the towers in your area. I couldn't receive phone calls for a couple of weeks until tower updates were finished, fortunately Sprint sent me an Airwave to help me receive phone calls in my home while tower upgrades were being finalized

So this is my last hope for a solution to my problem. I got the Epic 4g touch almost a week ago. Had Sprint activate it and everything worked for the first 48 hours great. Three days after I got the phone I came home from work and could not send a text message. When I would send a message it would immediately fail and would receive old texts from people over and over. Very rarely a text would go through but then it would stop working again. My Voice and data works fine no issues. So I called Sprint tech support probably 10 times and they had me update PRL update profile they refreshed the data, disabled texts and re-enabled, factory reset. Basically everything they could and I told them I live in a apartment on the first floor next to a main highway and the coverage map says I should have near perfect signal. So they checked for outages and submitted a ticket to check the tower which came back as fine. When I am around town everything works including texts just when I am at the apartment the texting does not work. So Sprint sent me a Airrave. I went from 3 bars to 6 but still no texting. I rooted the phone updated the base-band to FB27 and my PRL version is 61086. So basically I am at a loss. One of the Sprint techs told me it could be a blockage from the concrete slab on the apartment but that makes no sense considering I have another t mobile phone and my roommate has a Verizon droid and neither has had problems and I can get 3g data and voice fine. I downloaded a program called Roam Control and when I am roaming in the apartment texts work fine but I do not want to have to roam all the time for texts. If anyone has any suggestions and could help that would be great.

i have a similar issue but mine is just that i dont get service in my home :/ i would suggest you sign up for google voice if you dont want to roam. Google voice is free for sprint user and you can text from your computer or anything with google voice such as a ipod touch. Also google voice has free visual voice mail. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.googlevoice&hl=en
I would say hook up your phone to google voice. There is an app also in the play store to allow texts as well as voice calls to go over your wife instead through sprint. Maybe your phone is messed up?

Also try a third party sms like handcent chomp or go sms

I don't think it is the phone because it does work everywhere else. Its like bafling the tech support people. But I will try google voice. Does google voice texts show up from your number?

This will solve your sms issues..
Do you have wifi at home? If so download "text plus" from the market. It's free. Works for me. I live in a dead zone and text plus sends texts every time! Hope that helped.

I have been running the ICS leak for quite some time now and haven't had any major problems with it until now. Ever since they launched LTE in my area I have been having trouble with my phone not receiving calls. When I finally talk to the person that was trying to call me, they say that it would ring twice and then go to voicemail. My phone never rings and I don't receive any notifications about missed calls. I have also noticed that when it does this, my data no longer works at all. If I toggle airplane mode, it will snap the phone out of it.
This problem seems to be growing in frequency. ATT tried to sell me some BS about the phone gets clogged with interference from travelling through low signal areas and they re-registered my phone on the network and told me to give it a try. My phone is still having this issue. LG had no clue what was going on with my phone.
Does anyone have any idea of what could be going on and what I can do to fix this?
New rom? Just in case something did happen with the rom somehow.

I'm also having the same problem on official Bell ICS...

Why not use the official release?

Voice data is not sent over the LTE network but instead is sent over EDGE, HSUPA or HSDPA (gsm) networks. This is because LTE was designed to handle data only. Currently a few mobile operators are begging to launch voice over LTE capabilities (VoLTE). However ATT does not support VoLTE capabilities so whenever you place or receive a call your handset will switch to the gsm network to handle voice. After the call has ended your handset usually takes a few seconds to automatically switch back to LTE if available. During the time your phone is switching back networks your data will be inaccessible. If your phone does not switch back or your data never returns then you can toggle on/off airplane mode to reset it as you have mentioned doing. This should not be happening very often, unlike what you describe. What I would suggest is flashing HoNo's CWM official V20c ICS from att. This will update your phones baseband and firmware for your radios and I've also heard is more stable and has improved battery life. Hope I could help.

I had the same problems with the leak at home where I have a weak signal. Never had any problems with CM9 or GB. When I switched to the official rom all those problems went away. So I think it was just a baseband issue with the leak.

We ( my wife and I) got the same issue... With Bell.
So we sent both phone ( GB by the way non root ) to bell to get them repair ...
Sent back the phone... 1 h later ... got the same issue .. so they ( futuretel in Markham Ont Canada) dont find the issue, they just reflash the phone.
sent it and ... weeks later got it back ... lost it again ... but they change hardware and also reflash.
Now it's my turn ...
I'm still waiting for my phone because when i got it back, got issue ( probably firmware ) because I lost the speaker and speakerphone ... so if someone call me i was not able to ear them...
Sent back the phone again for repair and now i'm waiting.
Update my wife phone 2 day's ago with ICS from LG( bell ) and I dont think she got the issue.
If it's happening again, LG will have to step in because it's 2 repair for the same issue.
Since we are not alone in this situation we will be able to remove the hypothesis
of interference in our house!
And again ... when I was talking with someone from Bell support, I told them I would like to try custom Rom if the issue is still there...
The person agree with me... yes weard from someone from bell...
Other than that ... it would be good for people to "catlog" the drop signal / no voice service...
Some one have a good tool that can track that specific issue ?
Thanks!

Sprint wasn't any help with me. I was on the phone with them for over a week trouble-shooting with them. They ended up saying it was the Airave vendor's fault, not theirs. Also, the newer Airave 2.5 won't be any help according to them.
With me, it was both texting AND calling, even when I left home. The first problem I had was I couldn't send/receive any texts or receive incoming calls until I came back into my Airave area. I would get all of my texts and voicemails. The phone would work fine for about 10 minutes in my Airave coverage, then problems. That was with ZV8 and after about 2 weeks of having the phone.
I updated from ZV8 to ZV9 and for shi*s and grins, decided to turn my Airave back on, and everything worked fine again for about 2 weeks. Now I just have texting issues when inside Airave coverage. When I leave, it starts working again.
The funny thing is that I have an Airave at work with NONE of these problems, but Sprint won't send me a new one for my home for some reason, saying they are waiting for the vendor to fix the problem.
Not really happy with Sprint's Airave tech support.
Though YMMV.
I agree with you the support for a device that has there name on it sucks that's why I was trying to get help here before I call

Occasionally, my outbound calls will end up completely garbled. When it happens, it happens on every call from that point forward until i reboot, then it's fine. I've tried toggling airplane mode as a quick fix, but that didn't work. It happens when i'm at home and calling via my MicroCell AND on the road when making calls via the towers.
It seems to happen after checking my voicemail. I switched from AT&T's visual voicemail to YouMail and it still happens once in awhile.
Has anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions for debugging?
Thanks
Any issues I have had like that with S3 have been a direct result of being connected to the MCell. Normally I just power cycle the MCell and it clears up the issue. I do have not had it happen to me when connected go a cell tower.
I thought it was an mcell issue, but I've switched to google voice for voicemail and have not had any problems since.

So the last two ROMs I switched to basically instructed to "Get latest baseband and firmware here". I flashed it after the rom's were completed installing (using CWM).
I couldn't send sms or connect to the internet or receive phone calls.
I then tried the lj7 modem after I read it seemed the most 'stable' -- didn't work.
Then i tried flashing the Restore Modem Flashable Zip with the backup file
I still get the same problem. After a reboot the sms will send and internet works shortly but then completely shuts off and no phone calls.
Any thoughts on this? I should have never messed with the radio -- only did it cause the rom dev said it was a good idea on his OP.
Thanks to anyone that can help out.
Modem has nothing to do with being able to send sms or connect with the internet
Can you make calls? If not, do hands free activation through your dialer
I have been dealing with the receiving calls myself. After a few calls to Sprint and trips to Sprint store and also a starting a thread on here, I have determined it is a network issue. And for me after some thinking and paying better attention to when and where it happens, I have noticed it happens mainly around where I work. Also according to the Rep at a local Sprint store, he said it is a network issue. As far as the SMS issue, I haven't had that problem.
Sms and calls are all on the cellular signal, so if you can't do calls in a particular area you obviously can't send or receive sms. This is for sure a Sprint Network issue if it happens in distinct areas only. Could also be that they are upgrading in those areas. I had the worst signal when they where upgrading to lte in my area.
