Occasionally, my outbound calls will end up completely garbled. When it happens, it happens on every call from that point forward until i reboot, then it's fine. I've tried toggling airplane mode as a quick fix, but that didn't work. It happens when i'm at home and calling via my MicroCell AND on the road when making calls via the towers.
It seems to happen after checking my voicemail. I switched from AT&T's visual voicemail to YouMail and it still happens once in awhile.
Has anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions for debugging?
Thanks
Any issues I have had like that with S3 have been a direct result of being connected to the MCell. Normally I just power cycle the MCell and it clears up the issue. I do have not had it happen to me when connected go a cell tower.
I thought it was an mcell issue, but I've switched to google voice for voicemail and have not had any problems since.

In the ##DATA# menu, there is a menu tree called EVDO, with a sub selection called "DDTM."
What does this selection actually do? I thought it had to do with calls interrupting data?
I ask because I changed this setting to off, and it fixed the ONE instance I had of the losing the data connection... No reboot required, it just suddenly came back with the roam warning, and I had data again.
And now, even though the setting itself SAYS "ON", when I go to change the setting, "OFF" is actually selected. I still get calls while streaming Netflix, so I'm wondering if something is wrong with this particular piece of the firmware?
im curious to know this too!
With DDTM, whenever you are actively using 3G, it will disable calls as opposed to stopping the 3G in order to take the call. So leaving that off is good, because if you were just chillin' and your phone is in your pocket and it starts syncing...and then you get a call..that call is going straight to voicemail while it finishes syncing.
That's why my wife was pissed, she said she would call and call and i would never answer but my phone never rang. Just changed it to off

Thanks for the insight because I kept getting voicemails without the phone ringing and thought I was just losing my mind

It must have just been a pure coincidence that my data came back (after 5 minutes of no radio indicator, and error 97s) when I toggled that.
I hate coincidences!
I have an HTC EVO 4G rooted and programmed on the Cricket network, mms and net both work.
Here is my problem. I have had the phone for awhile and all worked fine, but recently my phone will not call out except on rare, random occasions. All my incoming calls come through fine. What is going on?
I called Cricket. They refreshed the settings and then it worked for 1 or 2 calls then stopped dialing out again. Whenever I try to call someone, there is no sound and after about 30-60 seconds a screen comes up that says network is busy, call has been lost.
What do I do? help me ....

has anyone else experienced problems when turning off the mobile data and the phone not reconnecting properly.
i disconnect mobile data during the day to extend my battery. When I do this, sometimes it reconnects properly, and other times i am not able to receive calls/make calls or send/receive text messages. The phone still shows in 4g and has full bars, but im not able to figure out its not reconnected until i try to make a call, which it doesnt allow me to do.
This is my second sgs3 now since my first did the exact same thing, and i thought it was just a faulty phone. anyone else experience this?
help please.
I had similar issues and I have called at&t 2 times. They asked me to turn my phone off for 5 minutes after which they re inserted my phone id in lte mapping... And they told me to call back if any similar issues arise
Try this

Ive had my note 2 now for about a month now and the phone itself has been great. During the first week I experienced horrible signal but that has all stopped recently. I now get 4g everywhere I go around my home and work.
But.. one problem persists. Missing missed call notifications and delayed voice mails. This has been going on since I got the phone and I though it was only a wifi calling bug until today.
Multiple people have called me and left a voice mail which I will only receive once I use my phone. Ie: text/make a call. No missed call notification shows up but I will receive texts and voicemails once I actively use my phone.
I have done tests with wifi calling where my phone would be charging for a few hours and a call would go straight to voicemail. Also pinging my phone yields a 1k+ms ping response and then normal 50ms which leads me to beleive the phone goes into some sort of sleep state and has to be actively on the network to receive any call or text. I thought it was just wifi calling but now its happening without being connected to wifi.
Does anyone have any information on this type of problem?

I had the issues you described with wifi calling. It was so unreliable that I stopped using it. On the regular cell connection I no longer miss calls.
I wish using regular cell was reliable as the coverage is great in my area. But after yesterday's problem I can't trust it anymore.
I'm back to using wifi calling and im using an app called wake lock to keep the wifi connected, as the normal no sleep when wifi setting doesn't work in the settings.
It has been 12 hours and the wifi calling icon hasn't disappeared. I've received emails and texts as well. Hopefully this can be a permanent at home solution. I wonder what causes the cell network to just drop and stay unconnected while the phones on lock though.

Are you using ant task killers or battery saving apps? They can turn off your data and so many other processes, they do more harm than good.

I have no battery saving apps, all i use is the stock task manager for ending tasks.
UPDATE:
WiFi calling with wake lock seemed to work most of the day. I received many texts and calls from at least 5 different people over the coarse of the day. But then... I go in my garage and lose wifi signal and the phone doesn't connect to a tower and i miss someone trying to call me. Same deal.. no missed call notification and they said it just goes straight to VM without ringing. I write it off as not a big deal as long as the rest of my house wifi calling allows me to miss nothing.
I sleep for a few hours and i wake up and hit my lock screen. The screen flashes on and it shows the WiFi calling symbol.. then lags and flashes to it being gone. I then use my house phone to call it and of course.. no ringing.. straight to VM. I have also received no emails/texts during this time.
I open the battery usage and during the last 15 hours or so there are small increments of signal loss. The whole bar is yellow which isnt great but should still work. But there are small slivers missing completely, and they are identical to the WiFi usage as well. Both show the same 0 signal at the same time.
I'm at my wits end with this problem.. i have tried just about everything from factory reset, SIM reset, using WiFi calling on both my router bands, using settings to keep WiFi on when phones charging. The problem persists on 4g and WIFI. Currently I'm set to GSM only to test this issue using EDGE.
The odd thing is my brother has the same phone and although he reported a few missed calls via wifi calling, nothing as serious as my issue of several blocks of time with 0 signal at all.
I noticed the new update rolling out changes the baseband.. would this do anything to fix any issues with connectivity? Ive read numerous people with this issue using various phones/carriers and the only fix seemed to be getting a new phone number. I hope this isn't the case.
I think you might need a microcell
I'm not sure if that would really help. Like I said I have above average coverage at my house. I never had a problem with my vibrant and the other 2 lines dont have problems. This morning I flashed jedi x7 and I now have a 3g and a H+ icon. I notice that im 95% on 3g and it sporadically switches to H+ randomly for only a few seconds. Also as about 6 hours have past, my network signal in battery usage is a solid bar with no signal loss. Time will tell if that stays true.
One other thing of note, if I perform a speed test when it's on 3g.. I ping 1k+ but pull around 15mbit. When H+ is up before I start the test I ping under 100 and pull 15mbit. Perhaps the constant switching is causing me to disconnect from the tower for brief moments.

Whenever I'm on wifi calling the person I'm calling Can't hear me. All they here is some screeching. I can hear them perfectly but they can't hear me. My wifi signal is good so is my cell signal. When I turn off wifi and use cell network to call it's fine and everybody can hear me. Why doesn't wifi calling work for me? Anybody having the same issue?

That's a software bug when the Voice Control to answer the phone is turned on. Just turn it off:
1. Go to the Dialer.
2. Press Menu then Call Settings.
3. Select Answering/Ending calls.
4. Uncheck Voice Control.
Try that and let me know how that works.
I have the opposite problem - whenever I'm on the office WiFi the caller can hear me but I cannot hear them. The home WiFi works fine. Phone is Samsung Galaxy Note III on T-mobile with Android 4.3. I checked and my Voice Control was not on, so that isn't the problem.

I can vouch for this. My boss thought I was autotuning my voice to mess with him, and a test call made me sound like Mickey mouse. Called customer care and was given the same info. It's a bug they're aware of apparently.

I have a galaxy J7 on tmobile. When the phone was new Wi-Fi calling worked fine. Shortly after, the screeching problem occurred and was consistent on all Wi-Fi calls. I could hear the other party, but they only would hear a loud screech. I searched for a solution to this problem for about 7 months. I was nearing the point of doing a factory reset I just found a suggestion to turn off "ok google" I tried this and so far, no screech for 2 days.
