Hi, I root my xperia play (verizon version) just fine and has been using custom ROM for a while and it all works great. but then I wanted to try a different ROM and so I install NexPlay ROM via recovery menu. The installation process was fine and it went through but when the phone is rebooted it just stucks at the sony ericssons logo and won't go anywhere, I can't turn off the phone or anything and i can't get back into recovery mode. Please help. I need this back to working fast!

If you unlocked your bootloader, use emma instead of pc companion
http://developer.sonymobile.com/services/flash-tool/how-to-download-and-install-the-flash-tool/
Flashtool is at flashtool.net
For ftf file you'll have to search, i have r800i model and i don't know wich ftf is for your r800x
Sent from my R800i using xda app-developers app
Stock ftf for r800x can be found here http://www.xperiagamer.com/Stock-Roms/233-se-stock-firmware-for-flashtool.html
If you're on windows 8 you might need to manually install fastboot drivers.

For a better support you should tell us which kernel are you using, and which ROM you were using before flashing NeXPLay.
If you just made the mistake of installing NeXPay (ICs ROM) on a GB kernel, then you don't need to reset everything with flashtool.
thanks but i just flashed my verizon rom with flashtool and that seems to get me back...
now which custom firmware/rom is the best for R800x?

Depends on how you use your phone. If you are a gamer then you should try a LuPuS kernel and a Gingerbread ROM but if you don't care about gaming then you can try a ICs ROM and which kernel you prefer.
If you need some in choosing one of the many ICs/GB ROMs, just ask

Hey @ all
i'm a new SE Arc S user and saw my friend using a custom rom on his galaxy s so i decided to give it a try myself ^^
reading the FAQ i got to the thread Read BEFORE flashing!!
it says before flashing i got to test if i can get into the download mode.
so i tried all three methods but i can't.
then i went through many other threads and saw that it actually works on an arc s.
so my question is how do i do it?
i already rooted my phone and i have installed the android sdk including platform-tools and the adb drivers.
additionally i tried to get into recovery mode using the button combination but it doesn't work as well.
Information to the phone:
Arc S (LT18i)
Android-Version: 2.3.4
Build: 4.0.2.A.0.42
Kernel-Version: 2.6.32.9-perf [email protected]#1
if there are any more questions just ask and i will try my best answering them ^^
hope someone can help me
stiil
You have to unlock your bootloader, push a kernel via adb, and install a custom ROM via CWM recovery.

EDIT:
Your guide is for the Samsung Captivate.
Start here.
Thx for your replay.
The guide you linked in your post is for an arc.
Does it work on my arc s too?
Of course, I own the Arc S too and about 95 % of the kernel/ROMs/MODs/themes/etc. works for our device too.
heey
i just unlocked my bootloader.
now i would like to back up everything so that i can switch back to the actual state of the phone.
but recovery is only described with changing the kernel.
is there a different option for a backup?
Flash this on stock kernel, go in recovery and take a backup.
Then you can push kernels, flash custom ROMs, etc.
that means if i make a backup using cwm i bavk up the kernel too?
No, you just push kernels via adb, but you can when ever you want push the stock kernel again.

Download Flashtool and ICS (4.1.B.0.587) or GB 4.0.2.A.0.62 Generic firmware, which is a FTF file, and flash it in. Will install fully stock firmware on your phone.
Anyone know how to reinstall the stockrom, currently on the latest but seems to have issues and would like a fresh reinstall of it. Tried using the Sony software that comes with the phone but when I try to 'repair' the phone in the software update section, it says that I can't download the firmware from my IP Address.
If you have a custom kernel on it you have to flash any gingerbread kernel like doomkernel and then flash a ftf firmware depending on your location.
If you have a r800i you can flash the .58 enhanced ftf. Just search for ftf collection for the xperia play, and there you can easily find the right ftf

Hello, I recently rooted my Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S, everything was working fine.
So I decided to install a custom ROM ( Jelly Sandwich )
but after the installation, my device is stuck on the Sony logo, I can't even access flashmode to flash it back. Please help! Thank you.
I've got the exact same problem!
You are stuck in bootloop you either have to reflash the stock rom with flashtools or if you have open bootloader using fastboot install custom kernel.
I have never managed to get this room working on my phone without using custom kernel.
I no longer have this Rom but use pureness Rom on stock kernel without issues.

Open flashtool, put there original firmware http://forum.android.com.pl/f308/oprogramowanie-dla-sony-ericsson-xperiaa-arc-s-147007/
then pull out battery, put it back, then start flashtool and flash this original firmware. For me it has allways worked, every time got back to life, but root is gone, so new rooting have to too
Hello! I'm having a problem with my xperia arc S, I tried to install a ROM (ULTIMATE HD 3.1) but I didn't have the wifi modules, so my phone got stuck on boot, so I figured that I got a bootloop, and went to flash the kernel (562), root again again and flash the new kernel (587) to try and install the ROM again, but the phone didn't root, but I flashed the .587 kernel and can't flash it back to .562. I can't figure what's the problem the flashtool says it's flashed but in setting the "compilation number" just says that it has the new kernel.
So my problem is how can I flash back to .562 and root the phone? I already tried this a few times ([url]http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2118343[/url]), but it dosen't work. what else can I do? Try with another kernel?
I also tried this, but it didn't work http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2219711. I don't know if it helps but i have the bootloader locked.
Sorry if repost, google but didn't find anything related. thanks anyway.
Restore your phone using Sony Update Service, since you have locked bootloader.

If you cannot repair with Update Service, try PC Companion. It should offer the repair function.

Had a similar problem, caused by wrong kernel (at least i think so). Anyho, there was no "repair" option for me either.
What you should do is:
- Flash back to stock GB firmware (0.62)
- Root (using eRoot, it's a one click procedure.)
- Install CWM using RecoveryX is the simplest way i'd say
- Flash the kernel which Jared proposed (can't remember which one sorry)
- boot into CWM, and follow the instructions to install UltimadeHD rom. I'd suggest Tesla's instructions, they are fail-proof. Remember to click on "unlocked bootloader" if your bootloader is locked.

If your bootloader is locked, you can repair it with Sony's PC Companion program for windows.
If your bootloader is unlocked, your only choice is to use flashtool to flash stock firmware

hey thanks for the reply, i read around a bit and downloaded flashtool, but when i run the flashtool it says 'preparing files for flashing' and then my phone just goes and reboots to get stuck on sony ericsson again, not giving time for flashtool to flash the phone.

You have to switch it off first before connecting, then connect while holding back when they ask you to in Flashtool.
Just to be safe, remove the battery and replace it after switching off.

Download the zip on the sdcad then install this kernel.
> Sony Ericsson Xperia Play > Xperia Play Android Development > [KERNEL][PLAY] LuPuSv7 [STOCK ICS/GB & CM9][LINARO 4.7.3][19-06-13]
It's working fine for me.

Well first you need a unlocked bootloader.
Then, you have to flash a ICS kernel for an ICS ROM (using fast boot)
LuPuS is a good kernel and is pretty stable too.
After that just install the ROM through CWM.

I don't know about that. But you can try it. In worst case, it won't do anything at all.
But i'm sure that Emma (son'ys flashtool for unlocked BL) will work. Here is a link
