[Q] SMS Occasionally Fails to Send GNex Toro - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hi all,
For the last month, my Gnex (toro) has been having sms not send occasionally (about 1 in 4). The majority will go through but about 25% will reveal the error Unable to Send Message (despite being on LTE). I was using the MMuzzy 4.3 build (with franco kernel r395) when it started.
1) clean flash with franco kernel r193 and same thing persisted (tested with radios 4.2.2 and 4.1.1)
2) clean flash with MMuzzy 4.2.2 build and franco kernel r384 and same thing persisted (tested with radios 4.1.1 and 4.2.2)
3) clean flash with CM 11 snapshot with franco kernel r395 (tested with radios 4.1.1 and 4.2.2) and same thing persists
To isolate the problem at each step, I use the stock messaging application but troubleshoot with Hangouts and same thing occurs. I also will enter the SMSC code at each step too if the problem is noted.
The ROM has been switched and doesn't seem to be the causing agent. Same for the kernel version and radios. I can't for the life of me figure it out.
Please help. It's so annoying.

[Q] Wifi issues on CM9: Bell LG-P30

Hi XDA-community,
I've just unlock/root/flash my Bell LG-P930 with CM9 and my wifi isn't working properly. I mean that I can connect to my wifi but the wifi signal doesn't turn blue. I can go on a web site but I can't download anything (apps, files). If strange because if I unbrick my phone, the wireless seem to work correctly. Any ideas?
Thanks
Here's my phone info:
Model #: Bell LG-P930
Android: 4.0.4
Baseband Version: P930MDM9200B-V10f-OCT-31-2011-XX 1
Kernel: 2.6.35.11 - cyanogenmod
CyanogenMod Version: 9-20120525-NIGHTLY-p930
Ok, I know it will sound funny but I solved my problem by installing the "google apps package" named gapps-ics-20120317-signed.zip file
thanks
LG Su640 Wifi Problem
I have a different Wifi issue with my LG SU640.
It's currently on Cyanogenmod 9, version "9-20120422-NIGHTLY-p930" with Reloaded ICS and everything works well.
I downloaded and tried flashing the phone with about 10 newer versions of Cm9. Actually, all of them were successful except that when I tried enabling Wifi, the phone would reboot endlessly. Noob that I am, I can't even email the pros at the Cyanogenmod website.
Can anybody here help out?
Probably has to do with the fact that your phone isn't a p930 and you shouldn't be installing cm9 on it due to different kernels and hardware

SU640 Cm9
If I may point out, my LG SU640 is working really well with a Cyanogenmod 9 ROM meant for a P930. I don't believe that the updates are incompatible with my phone since like I mentioned before, I could flash it properly. In fact, I was already using the phone for almost half an hour until I decided to sync my Gmail account to the phone via Wifi. That's when the boot-loops started. How is this so?
Update: I downloaded and flashed HO! NO!'s kernel for CM9 v2 and it worked properly. This leaves me even more confused why the newer CM9 revisions give me the same bootloop error when I try them on my LG SU640.

Jelly Bean kernel question

Like many of you others out there, the past few days, I've been flashing all different kinds of Jelly Beans on my GSM Galaxy Nexus. First, I installed bigxie's 4.1 (v1 and v2), then I installed bigxie's 4.1.1 (AOSP). It might be important to mention that my Gnex is originally a yakju and obviously all these versions of JB are for takju, so my phone has essentially been "converted." Later I reflashed the stock 4.1 from the I/O and then installed the official Google .zip file (from xda) that updates from the I/O 4.1 to 4.1.1. After doing this, I noticed this morning that my kernel version was different from others who had just installed 4.1.1 via OTA with the System Updates. So this afternoon I used the Galaxy Nexus Toolkit v7.4 to download and flash the Google factory ICS 4.0.4 image, which obviously deleted everything from the phone. Then I turned wifi on and went to System Update and it was already downloading the Jelly Bean official update, as pictured below:

After installing the above update, I checked the phone's info section and I still had a different kernel version than everyone else, as see below:

While I have kernel 3.0.31-ge8de0e2, it seems like other people have 3.0.31-g6fb96c9. As mentioned before, I had to resort to going back to stock, vanilla 4.0.4, then downloading/installing the update and I still don't have this newer kernel. What is different about this kernel and why is my phone unable to get it?
I have that build of the kernel (g6fb96cp), it really shouldn't matter which one you have.
Something strange just happened to my phone.
After doing some searching online, it seems that the 3.0.31-ge8de0e2 kernel is the same one that comes with the developer preview of JB 4.1 from the Google I/O phones. Just now, I downloaded an update for Google+, and when I restarted my phone, I was suddenly magically on the 3.0.31-g6fb96c9.
Is it even possible that a single app update could carry a kernel update as well?!?!?

Click to collapse
Now that I couldn't answer, it's possible but unlikely. All an app has to do is replace boot.img, something that many other kernel apps are capable of (franco.kernel's app, ezekeel's app).

[Q] Android 4.2 + Gapps = constant FCs

Hey all,
I decided to flash Jelly Belly 10.0 (4.2) and everything works fine until I flash the GAPPS- I've tried three different jb GAPPS from three different sources, and whenever I flash them, the next boot and from there on out is "setup wizard has stopped" and "com.android.GAPPs has stopped...", mostly giving me a Setup Wizard has stopped popup though, and it's keeping me from using the phone at all- not even pull down settings are responding.
Any ideas, maybe I'm not supposed to flash jb GAPPS?
Thanks!
AFAIK most of the 4.2 roms out include gapps in them, so there's no need to flash it over. Also, no official gapps package is out for 4.2 yet (most seem to contain pre-release versions of the 4.2 apps). That could be your problem.
I know what you're saying, but I'm also flashing the GAPPS linked in the ROM's original thread.... I also looked at the Pure AOSP 4.2 ROM for the VZW Nexus, they're linking to some 4.2 GAPPS package...I'll give it a go.
Thanks for replying!
Edit: Yeah that did it... For anyone else using Jelly Belly or any other AOSP 4.2 ROM, get GAPPS from here: http://old.bitsurge.net/android/gapps-4.2-JOP40C-121117.zip
