Bootloader unlock : Yes
In my xp M 1904 after following all the steps of unlocking the bootloader, in the service info i get the message as bootloader unlock : yes instead of bootloader unlocked : yes as shown in most videos. For my model have i unlocked the bootloader or unsuccessful attepmt ?
Little problem
I wanted to unlock BL becouse it's only way to root 4.3 XM but via this tutorial to backup DRM keys i have to be rooted already and here the circle is done. Any solutions on how to backup DRM key's on JB when i can't be rooted to follow these steps ?

You aren't getting the bootloader unlock key or the first email from sony? If there is a problem with the first email, I thing you must use gmail address when submitting the request at the http://developer.sonymobile.com/unlockbootloader/ website.

Hey guys,
Just picked up the Japanese Xperia Acro with au/KDDI in Japan. From what I gathered, the phone is almost exactly the same as the Xperia Arc, only difference in name, so I felt it'd be best to post here.
Anyway, great phone, but I'm desperate to root it and then overclock the processor. Thing is, it's branded with the carrier, so I'm unable to access fastboot loader. (Holding menu and plugging in usb doesn't trigger blue light)
Considering this is my first Android phone, I'm literally stuck on where to go from here. Is it impossible for me to root this phone and load custom firmware due to it being locked with the carrier? Am I really stuck with an untinkerable phone?
Appreciate your help guys...
I can unlock your bootloader remotely and enable fastboot for you
The process uses testpoint which is in a different position from the Arc

Sounds good!
How can I arrange this?
Hi Jinx13. Would you be able to remotely unlock the bootloader on my Xperia Arc? I've tried searching through forums for the past couple of days to unlock the bootloader but can't manage it. I'm with Rogers Canada, I unlocked the sim and debranded the phone (I think).
Thanks.

I have same phone and now i have a galaxy note 3 too so i don't use acro anymore. so i wanted to root my acro phone. i know what you are going throw because acro phone is unable to root. So i flashed the firmware and then i could root my phone and everything is working fine. Originally my acro had "IS11S_4.0.1.B.0.118_au" firmware so i flashed it in to "IS11S_4.0.1.B.0.112_KDDI" then i could root acro. if you want to know all the steps let me know i'll post all the steps.
Good Luck.!

- I don't know you can use it in UK or not. But i think if you can find CDMA mobile network provider yo may have a chance to use it. Also you may need you sim unlock.
Install Flastools and Flashing a new firmware
OK this is how i flash my firmware.
I have a Windows 8.1 running PC so this is the steps i did.
First you need to download two files so first download below files.
IS11S_4.0.1.B.0.112_KDDI.ftf
https://mega.co.nz/#!kVInSCQQ!bx7sX1izriRgHK14dmXC1r2LEKTZ4By6CBW5UjAcqww
flashtool-0.9.18.3-windows.exe
https://mega.co.nz/#!JVpBjTaI!fV-1JgQm7-bmMbL-xBxYOKhDAMZcS-aUsIreEm_gvFk
Then you need to install flashtool-0.9.18.3-windows.exe. Just double click and install it and Remember the installing folder (Example - "C:\Flashtool" or "C:\Program Files\Flashtool" like that) and then go to that folder. Inside that folder go to drivers folder and install Flashtool-drivers.exe. Click next check the Flashmode Drivers and Fastboot Drivers (Very important you select those) and go down the menu and select the phone model (Read all well). Then install. If your installation finis without warning errors then you ok. If your installation finis with warning errors then do next step.
Go to PC Settings (Charms Bar) > Change PC Settings > Update And Recovery > Recovery > Restart Now (Advanced Startup)
it will restart to Advance Startup automatically
In Advance Startup -
Troubleshoot > Advanced Settings > Start-up Settings > Restart
After rebooted you will get a screen says. Here to choose options for that we have to use function keys. Now press "F7" to select "Disable Driver Signature Enforcement" .
Now your PC will boot with Disabled Driver Signature Enforcement and you will be able to install Flashtool/Fastboot drivers. so again install the Flashtool-drivers.exe and will finish without errors.
after that again go to falshtool installed folder and go to Firmwares folder and if you see any files already on that firmwares folder delete them. Then copy IS11S_4.0.1.B.0.112_KDDI.ftf file that you download before to firmwares folder. and then run FlashTool.exe (If your PC 64bit then run FlashTool64.exe)
Now on your device go to (Very important to do all the steps below)
01. settings > Application settings > Development > check USB debugging
02. settings > Application settings > uncheck Unknown sources
03. settings > Sony Ericsson > Connectivity > USB connection mode > choose Mass storage mode
Then connect your device to PC using Original USB cable.
Go to flashtool software click on flash icon.
Then chose Flashmode > ok
Then new window will open (Firmware Selector) then you can see the IS11S_4.0.1.B.0.112_KDDI.ftf file already on that.
Now just click on FLASH.!
That's all wait it to finish. and your device will restart automatically. and DONE.!
I couldn't remember where i download those files but i already had those so i upload it for you and anyone who want to download those.
And if this post helps you then be kind enough to click on THANKS for me.!
Enjoy.!

Taken from [Tutorial] Xperia S/P/U/Sola Bootloader Unlocking & Relocking and modified slightly for the ion. I take no credit for this tutorial.
Quick tutorial for unlocking & relocking the bootloader of the Xperia ion.
This is the official way to unlock bootloader
Warning!
This procedure will wipe the /data partition of your phone, so you will loose all ur stored data, settings. SDCARD will NOT BE WIPED!!!
DRM keys WILL be lost forever
Why should I unlock the bootloader?
You can flash custom ROMs/Kernels.
You don't need to worry if the new firmware can be rooted or not as with unlocked bootloader you can always ROOT your device.
SE/Sony gives sneak-peaks/preview builds of latest OS which requires unlocked bootloaders, as they did with Xperia 2011 line (they had ICS alpha/beta), so who knows may be SE/Sony may give early builds of ICS (JellyBean???)
Most of this is taken from lollylost100's his tutorial from ARC thread (all credits for that concise tutorial go to him, i have elaborated on a few things and added device specific changes)
[ Before we begin unlocking bootloader ]
Get the IMEI code for your device: type *#06# in phone dialer to find it out, note only the digits (no dashes)
Download the fastboot package with usb drivers (alternate drivers if the ones in package dont work)
Make sure u have a windows PC with USB cable to connect the phone
Power down your phone and keeping the Volume Up button pressed connect the USB cable to PC this will trigger FASTBOOT mode and windows will start driver installation, extract the above package and point the driver install to that location (usb_driver) folder
Once drivers are installed just disconnect cable and power on device
[ how to unlock ] (official way)
Go to: http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/ and read everything!
At the bottom click 'Start Unlocking the Bootloader'
First, you should confirm that it is possible to unlock the boot loader of your phone by checking the service menu. In your phone, open the phone dial pad and enter *#*#7378423#*#* to access the service menu.
In your phone, tap Service info > Configuration > Rooting Status. If Bootloader unlock allowed says Yes, then you can continue with the next step. If it says No, or if the status is missing, your device cannot be unlocked.
Click to collapse
After you have verified that you can unlock bootloader, scroll to the bottom of the page and click "Continue"
You will get "Are you sure prompt" accept it by clicking "yes i am sure" (i assume that you have read an understood it)
Then accept the "legal terms"
Finally you will get a "Create Unlock request" page, enter your IMEI (sometimes the last digit needs to be removed for this to work), name and email address
You should now receive your unique unlock key, its displayed on screen, SAVE THIS KEY SAFELY
Extract fastboot_with_Android_USB_file.rar and open fastboot folder
Hold SHIFT and right click on the background of the folder
Select 'Open command window here'
Connect your phone in fastboot mode (turn phone off, hold Volume UP button and plug in USB Cable) [make sure drivers are installed as explained above)
In the cmd windows type in fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce getvar version
If a value is returned (it will return 0.5), it means the phone is correctly connected
Type in fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce oem unlock 0xKEY and replace KEY with the key which you received earlier.
Your device should now be bootloader unlocked
If this tutorial is too much for you then itskapil wrote a step-by-step guide (and recorded a video also):
-Instructions: http://www.theandroidsoul.com/how-to...-play-neo-pro/
-Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LRH3pC7MhEA
(the above videos and some steps are for Xperia 2011 devices, but most the steps are same for Xperia ion)
Info on Relocking bootloader is in next post
Relocking bootloader
RELOCKING BOOTLOADER WILL ALLOW YOU TO GET NEWEST UPDATES & REPAIR DEVICE USING SEUS/PCC
Before we begin relocking the bootloader make sure that u have flashtool download & installed
You can get the latest version of FlashTool from:
http://androxyde.github.com/Flashtool/
Download link is under "Installation" tab
If you have not use FlashTool before read this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1526866
Download this FTF:
Xperia ion -> LT28-ION_Relock_bootloader_Dogsly-TEST.ftf // Mirror 1
Flash this FTF via FlashTool:
When it says enter flashmode, power down device and keeping VOLUME DOWN button pressed connect usb cable to phone, the device will now enter flashmode (green LED)
After this file is flashed reboot phone
Bootloader will now be relocked!!!
Incase device doesn't boot DO NOT PANIC... You can flash stock firmware FTF anytime to get back to stock ROM
P.S.: there is no official way to relock bootloader
So because my phone says I can't unlock the bootloader, does that mean I can never unlock the bootloader? Or do I have to wait to be able to root it first?
PS: I got my ion from Best Buy so is that why? Will I ever be able to unlock the BL ? I've rooted and unlocked my x10, back in the old days lol but I'm just wondering if there's any difference with getting a phone from at&t directly or from the sony store and best buy.

Have to wait to see if another way to unlock the bootloader is discovered. Root and unlocking the bootloader are two different things that accomplish or allow different things you can do on the phone.
IE rooting allows you to uninstall system apps & bloatware, backup apps/data, make changes to build.prop etc. Unlocking the bootloader will give you access to fastboot so you can flash custom roms/kernels and other images such as a pre-rooted system image to gain root.
I wonder. If we can not unlock the bootloader for some LT28at, why is there a key to unlock it? I did the Sony bootloader unlock for fun and apparently they have a key for my LT28at even though it says bootloader unlock is not allowed.

Possible fix?
If the LT28i can be unlocked, what if we flash the international firmware on our LT28at's and then do the LT28i method? Maybe a stupid question but this is the first phone I've had that's a challenge to do stuff like unlocking and rooting. My last phone (HTC Aria) was extremely easy.

Kinda figured that
I tried to relock the bootloader. The flash pass but the phone can't turn on after that.
*I reflash the stock kernel again and the phone can power on now.
So here is the result, once you relock bootloader, you need to flash back the stock kernel in other to turn on the phone. Hopefully this will help those people who got stuck after relock bootloader.
Hello guys
I was just wondering, if bootloader unlock or flashing cutom kernel will allow to use sim cards from other mobile operators (European for ex.) ?
I have an ability to buy this device in us through my friend. but Im interested if I would be able to use it in Europe I was thinking of buying xperia p or s, but they dont have microsd card support.
Im not interested in using LTE networks. Just common 2g.
I planning to use it like a second android device as a multimedia player instead of my galaxy s wifi5.0. (because of good sound quality and other features).
Thanx a lot for responses

You have to make sure that your phone has unlocked bootloader, if it says "bootloader unlock allowed: yes" it doesn't mean your phone is unlocked, it only tells you that it can be unlocked.
If you have TrackID, try to play it, if it can be played, then the bootloader is still locked.

If you have TrackID, try to play it, if it can be played, then the bootloader is still locked.
For unlocking, try the link below. And don't forget to thank them.

Just DON'T install it. My Xperia Arc s is locked bootloader and i tried to install Ultimate HD Rom twice, but no hope after installation Sony logo stucks!
first time i solved it by using Update Service.
second time (NOW) still on Sony logo and Update Service isn't working, it says "You already have the latest software installed"
so for now I'm searching for a way to fix it

Put your phone into fastboot mode first (turn off your phone, hold down menu button and then connect the USB cable, blue LED shall light on).
Only original TrackID, provided with phone. The one from Play Store works with unlocked bootloader aswell.

Just SOLVED IT!
I flashed stock firmware using flash tool
stock firmware link by a member in the forum: http://www.mediafire.com/?rhr59r4o6oarnfx
then::
1. rooted the device
2. installed CWM
3. wiped everything
4. installed UHD and choosing just one app to install
5. unticked reboot
6. wiped Dalvik Cache ONLY
7. reboot device from CWM
8. Enjoyed UHD
UHD is stock based so it will work on locked boot loader, if it doesnt then you're doing something wrongly.

Not necessarily! choosing to install all the apps in the AROMA Installer causes sticking on Sony logo in locked bootloaders.

hi guys this is just a guide to unlock bootloader easily by using flashtool on All Xperia
first I'm not responsible for bricked phone
remember there may be full data reset on unlocking bootloader
if want to unlock follow bellow step
Its Better to take TA BACKUP[so that you can relock your bootloader and claim your warranty] http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2292598
Download flashtool : http://www.flashtool.net/download.php
Steps:
First you should confirm that it is possible to unlock the boot loader of your device by checking the service menu. In your device, open the dialler and enter *#*#7378423#*#* to access the service menu.
In your device, tap Service info > Configuration > Rooting Status. If Bootloader unlock allowed says Yes, then you can continue with the next step. If it says No, or if the status is missing, your device cannot be unlocked.
go here http://developer.sonymobile.com/unlockbootloader/ and select your device and click continue
now type your mail id..and tick agree the terms and condition on that page and click submit
open your mail...see the mail from sony..it will have a link.. open it
now open flashtool click BLU icon...and then connect your phone on flashmode by pressing and holding volume down button
and after sometime it will show another window to unplug phone/..
unplug phone.., press and hold volume up button[Fastboot Mode] and connect the phone to pc again
now it will ask the code...
copy the IMEI from flashtool and paste IMEI on the link you opened from mail and tick two agree the terms and condition and click submit
now again open mail....Check your mail,it will receive a mail from Sony with key...
copy the key code in ur mail and paste in flashtool...Then click Unlock..
thats it ur phone gets unlocked and if it restarts...pull the battery out and flash the stock rom again...
[NOTE1:while unlocking if u got errors..close flashtool and open it]
[NOTE2:After you unlock bootloader.U cant flash other device roms on your device..it will hard brick your phone..please use kernels,Roms made for your device]

now download the attachment C200X.rar then extract it to C:\Flashtool\devices\
Eg:it should be C:\Flashtool\devices\C200x

Mount each of the folders in Internal/Android/obb to the sdcard. The large files are saved there.
You can also try unlocking your bootloader or applying the definite reboot-remount fix to get link2sd to work.

ya bootloader can be unlocked
ur warranty of phone will be cancelled
Of all people Motorola who have been so far most developer unfriendly have now announced that they shall honor warranty for developer unlocked BL phones as well as for folks who had done earlier unlocked their BL.
Can anyone advise what is the timeline for receiving the BL unlock code from Sony? Also since it is my Dad's phone I am not gonna be unlocking the bootloader until warranty expires however to be safe I was thinking of getting and keeping in record the code from Sony in case they decide in near future to stop issuing unlock codes. My question is (if anyone can advise), is the warranty void only if I actually execute the unlock process using the received code or is it void even if I merely request and get the unlock code from Sony??

Google 'unlock bootloader'. Click the link to Sony's page, follow all the instructions until you get the bootloader unlock code and stop, no need to download the Android SDK as it says. Keep the code.
Before you unlock the bootloader, you may want to backup your TA partition, you can find the guide here on XDA.
After all that, in Flashtool, click the BLU icon, follow the steps and unlock the bootloader by entering the code you got earlier.
