Then your bootloader isn't unlocked.

Keypad, type in *#*#7378423#*#*, Service Info, Configuration
If you see this
Code:
Bootloader unlocked: Yes
or this
Code:
Bootloader unlock allowed: Yes
then you can enter fastboot mode.
If you see this
Code:
Bootloader unlock allowed: No
then you can not enter fastboot.
Anymore questions?

hello,
i m using xperia arc s and having Bootloader unlock allowed: Yes
in flashtool 0.9.10.1 i flash my device completely, then i attach a phone for fastboot,
everything going right, but when i click Lighting ICON => fastboot => OK nothing happen
need your help urgent
thanks in advance

You have to make sure that your phone has unlocked bootloader, if it says "bootloader unlock allowed: yes" it doesn't mean your phone is unlocked, it only tells you that it can be unlocked.
If you have TrackID, try to play it, if it can be played, then the bootloader is still locked.
For unlocking, try the link below. And don't forget to thank them.

Only original TrackID, provided with phone. The one from Play Store works with unlocked bootloader aswell.

Just DON'T install it. My Xperia Arc s is locked bootloader and i tried to install Ultimate HD Rom twice, but no hope after installation Sony logo stucks!
first time i solved it by using Update Service.
second time (NOW) still on Sony logo and Update Service isn't working, it says "You already have the latest software installed"
so for now I'm searching for a way to fix it

Just SOLVED IT!
I flashed stock firmware using flash tool
stock firmware link by a member in the forum: http://www.mediafire.com/?rhr59r4o6oarnfx
then::
1. rooted the device
2. installed CWM
3. wiped everything
4. installed UHD and choosing just one app to install
5. unticked reboot
6. wiped Dalvik Cache ONLY
7. reboot device from CWM
8. Enjoyed UHD

UHD is stock based so it will work on locked boot loader, if it doesnt then you're doing something wrongly.

Not necessarily! choosing to install all the apps in the AROMA Installer causes sticking on Sony logo in locked bootloaders.

Xperia ion Bootloader Unlocking & Relocking

Taken from [Tutorial] Xperia S/P/U/Sola Bootloader Unlocking & Relocking and modified slightly for the ion. I take no credit for this tutorial.
Quick tutorial for unlocking & relocking the bootloader of the Xperia ion.
This is the official way to unlock bootloader
Warning!
This procedure will wipe the /data partition of your phone, so you will loose all ur stored data, settings. SDCARD will NOT BE WIPED!!!
DRM keys WILL be lost forever
Why should I unlock the bootloader?
You can flash custom ROMs/Kernels.
You don't need to worry if the new firmware can be rooted or not as with unlocked bootloader you can always ROOT your device.
SE/Sony gives sneak-peaks/preview builds of latest OS which requires unlocked bootloaders, as they did with Xperia 2011 line (they had ICS alpha/beta), so who knows may be SE/Sony may give early builds of ICS (JellyBean???)
Most of this is taken from lollylost100's his tutorial from ARC thread (all credits for that concise tutorial go to him, i have elaborated on a few things and added device specific changes)
[ Before we begin unlocking bootloader ]
Get the IMEI code for your device: type *#06# in phone dialer to find it out, note only the digits (no dashes)
Download the fastboot package with usb drivers (alternate drivers if the ones in package dont work)
Make sure u have a windows PC with USB cable to connect the phone
Power down your phone and keeping the Volume Up button pressed connect the USB cable to PC this will trigger FASTBOOT mode and windows will start driver installation, extract the above package and point the driver install to that location (usb_driver) folder
Once drivers are installed just disconnect cable and power on device
[ how to unlock ] (official way)
Go to: http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/ and read everything!
At the bottom click 'Start Unlocking the Bootloader'
First, you should confirm that it is possible to unlock the boot loader of your phone by checking the service menu. In your phone, open the phone dial pad and enter *#*#7378423#*#* to access the service menu.
In your phone, tap Service info > Configuration > Rooting Status. If Bootloader unlock allowed says Yes, then you can continue with the next step. If it says No, or if the status is missing, your device cannot be unlocked.
Click to collapse
After you have verified that you can unlock bootloader, scroll to the bottom of the page and click "Continue"
You will get "Are you sure prompt" accept it by clicking "yes i am sure" (i assume that you have read an understood it)
Then accept the "legal terms"
Finally you will get a "Create Unlock request" page, enter your IMEI (sometimes the last digit needs to be removed for this to work), name and email address
You should now receive your unique unlock key, its displayed on screen, SAVE THIS KEY SAFELY
Extract fastboot_with_Android_USB_file.rar and open fastboot folder
Hold SHIFT and right click on the background of the folder
Select 'Open command window here'
Connect your phone in fastboot mode (turn phone off, hold Volume UP button and plug in USB Cable) [make sure drivers are installed as explained above)
In the cmd windows type in fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce getvar version
If a value is returned (it will return 0.5), it means the phone is correctly connected
Type in fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce oem unlock 0xKEY and replace KEY with the key which you received earlier.
Your device should now be bootloader unlocked
If this tutorial is too much for you then itskapil wrote a step-by-step guide (and recorded a video also):
-Instructions: http://www.theandroidsoul.com/how-to...-play-neo-pro/
-Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LRH3pC7MhEA
(the above videos and some steps are for Xperia 2011 devices, but most the steps are same for Xperia ion)
Info on Relocking bootloader is in next post
Relocking bootloader
RELOCKING BOOTLOADER WILL ALLOW YOU TO GET NEWEST UPDATES & REPAIR DEVICE USING SEUS/PCC
Before we begin relocking the bootloader make sure that u have flashtool download & installed
You can get the latest version of FlashTool from:
http://androxyde.github.com/Flashtool/
Download link is under "Installation" tab
If you have not use FlashTool before read this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1526866
Download this FTF:
Xperia ion -> LT28-ION_Relock_bootloader_Dogsly-TEST.ftf // Mirror 1
Flash this FTF via FlashTool:
When it says enter flashmode, power down device and keeping VOLUME DOWN button pressed connect usb cable to phone, the device will now enter flashmode (green LED)
After this file is flashed reboot phone
Bootloader will now be relocked!!!
Incase device doesn't boot DO NOT PANIC... You can flash stock firmware FTF anytime to get back to stock ROM
P.S.: there is no official way to relock bootloader
So because my phone says I can't unlock the bootloader, does that mean I can never unlock the bootloader? Or do I have to wait to be able to root it first?
PS: I got my ion from Best Buy so is that why? Will I ever be able to unlock the BL ? I've rooted and unlocked my x10, back in the old days lol but I'm just wondering if there's any difference with getting a phone from at&t directly or from the sony store and best buy.

Have to wait to see if another way to unlock the bootloader is discovered. Root and unlocking the bootloader are two different things that accomplish or allow different things you can do on the phone.
IE rooting allows you to uninstall system apps & bloatware, backup apps/data, make changes to build.prop etc. Unlocking the bootloader will give you access to fastboot so you can flash custom roms/kernels and other images such as a pre-rooted system image to gain root.
I wonder. If we can not unlock the bootloader for some LT28at, why is there a key to unlock it? I did the Sony bootloader unlock for fun and apparently they have a key for my LT28at even though it says bootloader unlock is not allowed.

tried to unlock it via the sony site and if you did and it was successful have you tried to relock it using the file linked above? Would be nice to know if that works.
Possible fix?
If the LT28i can be unlocked, what if we flash the international firmware on our LT28at's and then do the LT28i method? Maybe a stupid question but this is the first phone I've had that's a challenge to do stuff like unlocking and rooting. My last phone (HTC Aria) was extremely easy.

Kinda figured that
I tried to relock the bootloader. The flash pass but the phone can't turn on after that.
*I reflash the stock kernel again and the phone can power on now.
So here is the result, once you relock bootloader, you need to flash back the stock kernel in other to turn on the phone. Hopefully this will help those people who got stuck after relock bootloader.
Hello guys
I was just wondering, if bootloader unlock or flashing cutom kernel will allow to use sim cards from other mobile operators (European for ex.) ?
I have an ability to buy this device in us through my friend. but Im interested if I would be able to use it in Europe I was thinking of buying xperia p or s, but they dont have microsd card support.
Im not interested in using LTE networks. Just common 2g.
I planning to use it like a second android device as a multimedia player instead of my galaxy s wifi5.0. (because of good sound quality and other features).
Thanx a lot for responses

I understand you came from Samsung... I also used Samsung myself back then and experimented with the root and everything.
Rooted a S3 back then which had the "recovery-from-boot.p" script that did not allow me to flash CWM recovery on it.

As I already said, it does not matter, if phone has branded firmware or not. It has nothing to do with bootloader unlocking.
If the fastboot is disabled, then you can not do anything. This mostly occurs, when phone is SIM-locked.
If the fastboot is enabled, then you can use official method at unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com.
To see, if fastboot is enabled or disabled, just try entering it - Turn off the phone, hold down Menu button, connect USB cable. If blue LED lights up and stays on, fastboot is enabled and you can use the official method.

Unfortunately, no. This does still not enable fastboot. Fastboot can be enabled only via test point method, but due to newer security systems, this is not possible on phones manufactured after 12W11.
So, unfortunately, you are one of the unlucky ones, who have to deal with locked bootloader. For now. Until a method is found, that can bypass the newer security standards.

Flashing kernel, Test Point unlocked

Hi everyone!
Yesterday I unlocked bootloader of my Arc, and now I'd like to flash XUK, but.. I read that phones with bootloader unlocked by Test point method can't be flashed with a .img kernel, only with .ftf. Is that true?
And if is, how can I convert boot.img -> boot.ftf to flash it with flashtool?
Thanks a lot

First time I hear this. Definitely false statement.
On side note - Boot.img can not be converted to boot.ftf. Maybe can, but not worth the time and effort.

So there's no risk flashing in fastboot on this Arc?
Tomorrow I'll try that.
Thanks a lot again.
You can't really fail with flashing kernel, as long as you got the command right. If it does return an error in fastboot, post it here and we will find the reason.
I tried to enter into fastboot, but the phone starts to charge instead of turn blue the Led. I'm a bit confused with that, because S1 Tool shows:
RUNNING S1_EROM VER "r9A021"
SOFTWARE AID: 0001
LOADER AID: 0001
FLASH ID: "002C/00B3"
LOADER VERSION: "r4A069"
SEMC SIMLOCK CERTIFICATE
The small "r" means that bootloader is unlocked.. then, why can't I enter to fastboot?
Any help?
Thanks
Just flash a kernel with fastboot. Post the log if you need more information.
I am not sure, what are you trying to say with S1.

I can't enter to fastboot, when I try it, the phone starts to charge, like phones with locked bootloader. That is what confuses me.
Phones with locked bootloaders can enter fastboot mode, but they wouldn't be able to flash a kernel. Flashing would end up with an error.
In your case, the fastboot is disabled then. 12W11 and earlier manufactured phones can have fastboot enabled via testpoint method. Others don't.

Althought service menu shows B.U.A: no, I unlocked bootloader with test point method, and it seemed to work, but I still don't have access to fastboot.
Do you understand what I mean?
I don't think the unlocking process was successful then.
It seems that you can not unlock

The guide I followed to unlock it say that:
and my phone is "Loader version: r4A069".
I have not mentioned that I unlocked simlock with NCK code provided by my telephone company before try to unlock bootloader with the testpoint method. Actually I can use any simcard from any company and it works fine, and in theory I unlocked bootloader too.. It's very confusing can't to access to fastboot in my situation.

Which guide did you follow? Using test point method to unlock bootloader should enable fastboot as well.
Test point method would have removed the simlock anyway, could have saved some bucks if you paid for the code.

No, I didn't pay for the code. When the contract with the phone company finish, they have to give the code for free.
I don't know, I'll tray again to unlock with test point.
In attached files is the guide I followed, but it's in spanish.
Here's a similar tutorial in english, but in that says phones "unlock allowed: no" cannot be unlocked with testpoint :silly:

Is there any way to relock the BL?

I want to return the device to stock and read on the sony dev website you have to flash a firmware but I do not see the Z5P, is there any other way?
thanks,
AC
Is there a reason why you need to relock the BL? According to Sony, there is no way to restore an unlocked BL.
Q: If I change my mind later on, is there any way to restore my device?
A: No. Once you have unlocked the boot loader, you will not be able to revert the device back to a locked or original state or restore the DRM security keys. You can however use the Flash tool for Xperia™ devices to flash a generic Sony ROM, although it will not receive automatic software upgrades.

Thanks but the Z5P does not come up as a supported device for the flash tool yet, so I guess the answer is no

You can relock it using flashtool. Just choose Xperia Z5 when the device window appears. I've already tried it, works like a charm.
Not sure if you can relock it without the back up drm keys. Since there isn't a backup program yet I would assume you've already lost the drm keys. I'm afraid you won't be to revert back to the same. Camera quality and x reality will be affected.

Some important things before you attempt the relock:
The DRM keys will not be restored after the relock.
You have to reflash the entire firmware or just flash the stock kernel before relocking the bootloader.
The phone should be on stock kernel, if you try to relock it with custom kernel the phone might brick.
Click BLU in flashtool and follow the instructions.

Turn off the mobile.
Press the BLU button in flashtool.
Press the volume down button of your mobile and connect it to the PC.
A pop up window will open, select Xperia Z5 (Z5P is not listed yet).
Another window will open, if you see Relock, press it, the bootloader will be relocked.
Let the process be over, then restart the mobile.

Relocking Bootloader
I had to unlock my device's bootloader to downgrade it to marshmallow because of the WiFi issue in Nougat, so i did it and didn't backed up the DRM keys(i didn't knew i am supposed to do it. It wasn't mentioned in the tutorial i was following or i missed it). Anyways now i am on marshmallow and i am unable to update it VIA xperia companion. It complains that bootloader is unlocked. Now if i lock the bootloader will xperia companion will work ? What is the affect of the lost DRM keys ? And if anyone knows the WiFi issue is sovled or not ?

Can confirm I did the same thing and forgot the keys (new to Sony devices vs. Google). IF you use the XDA FlashTool, you can re-lock the bootloader and Xperia Companion will recognize for a Factory reset of your device.

Xperia M doesn't boot after unlocking bootloader

HELP NEEDED!
Hi guys,
So I tried to unlock bootloader on my Xperia M (C1904). And after unlocking, it doesn't boot anymore. Just shows "Sony", and "Xperia", then the wave animation forever.
First of all, I access to Sony Developer World for unlock bootloader key, then used flashtool's BLU feature. It successfully completed and said "Device will reboot into system now" However it showed the wave animation forever, (waited for around 20 or more minutes) but there was no change, so I flashed stock .ftf file via Flashmode. HOWEVER, everything was the same as before.
Then I used BLU feature again to try Re-locking the bootloader, but it said that "Processing of loader.sin finished with errors." and "Your phone bootloader cannot be officially unlocked". I am sure that my XM is bootloader unlocking supported, and flashtool successfully finished unlocking.
I searched around the Internet and found many people is having same problem with me.
I DID try using Sony PC Companion to repair the software, but as you can imagine. It simply showed ERROR.
I need your help as fast as possible.
Thank you, and sorry for my bad English btw.
PS I did read XDA threads about this problem, but nothing helped much.

Buddy download stock firmware that works with your device(c1904) and I have heard that newley flashtool have some bugs most of the peoples found it difficult to use due to error so download a old version of flashtool.
Here is the link for flashtool that I use
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B3WS5xjTt_0tQTZzQmNiZFc0R2M/view?pref=2&pli=1
It works smooth and don't forget to install drivers for xperia M found in C:/Flashtool/drivers after unpacking flashtool
Thank you guys for helping me.
I tried re-locking and flashed the stock firmware, and now my XM is working normally again.
Now, the question is, "Is there a way to safely unlock bootloader without soft bricking?"

I had similar problems as described in the first thread.
My flashtool version was 0.9.19.8 and during the blu-process the level meter stucks.
With "new" version 09.18.1 - as mentioned in one of the early replys - everything worked well.

Buddy for first time soft bricking happens with all it happened with me too because for first time the DRM keys (a kind of key used to get sony official support and update OTA) get wiped forever since DRM keys are integral part of BOOT so it will led to softbrick only for first time after that you can easily unlock or relock your Device
