For those who may find this useful...
I added the PTT service on my phone not thinking that my device may not yet be compatible with the app from AT&T. I found out the hard way but figured out how to get it going on my device.
1. After adding the service online I got a text a half hour later that it was active on the account.
2. I then rooted my Note 2 on the latest stock 4.3 rom.
3. Downloaded the app: Device Spoofer from the Play Store.
4. Backed up the device's current information in Device Spoofer
5. Changed the device's ID to that of the Galaxy S4 (i.e. sgh-i337)
6. Restart the device.
7.Launch At&t EPTT app and activate.
8. Once activated you can run spoofer again and restore your device's I'D and restart and the app will still work.
Just guessing but I would think this should work on the Note 3 as well. Everyone uses this at work so I thought it was worth looking into.
***EDIT: I used the Helium app to backup the At&t EPTT app and data to my Google Drive account and restored it on my At&t Note 3 and can confirm it works. I did not root my note 3 due to the Knox issues discussed here on XDA, so if anyone has another device that is rooted this is an easy way to get the PTT app working on a non rooted one.***

THANKS!!
This is awesome. Was thinking about trying this with a Nexus 5. Currently stuck with a Rugby Pro and it is BRUTAL. Glad to know there's a way around AT&T's BS.

I have a rooted S3 and used helium to backup and transfer to my new S5 and it doesn't work. It tries to activate and then fails saying i dont have a supported device. I must be doing something wrong?
EDIT: Rooted my S5 and tried your first method and still no dice. Hmmmm this is interesting. If I cant get this figured out I guess I will have to return the phone. Are you using your old sim or the new one that comes with the phone?

It seems that my original method no longer works since they updated the PTT app. I was able to Spoof My Note 1's (sold my Note 2) device ID to that of an S4 and the app activates that way. I was hoping I could back it up again with Helium and Restore to my Note 3 but it tries to reactivate on the Note 3 and detects the current device ID. So at this point I believe my only option is to root my Note 3, spoof the device ID, and activate. Not something I want to do.
I also found that if I enable airplane mode then enable WIFI and you launch the app, after a minute or two it asks if you want to try to activate over WIFI, and then asks to enter an code provided by an administrator. I wonder if ATT would be willing to provide a code to users that already have the feature on the account and want to try the app on a newer device...It's a shot in the dark but couldn't hurt to ask.
EDIT: By ID, I mean model number.

I got it working. The app now looks at the phones model number. I simply changed the model number to that of an S4. It activated right away once i did that. When I go to about device my S5 shows as SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 which is an S4. :good:
Changing the ID appears to screw up NFC until you change it back to the original, at least on my Note 3. Changing back to the original kills the activation. Att seems to have caught on because the app, even the older version now activates on reboot.

Hmmm interesting on the NFC. I dont use it so im not sure how the S5 reacts to the change. The eptt app has been working flawless though and the manager at the store called corporate and they told him they would be updating the app in the near future to support the S5.

My experiences with Google wallet have been strange. Here's a run down:
Attempt 1
Went to Macy's, took about 4 tries before it went through.
Attempt 2
Went to meijer, got an error saying card reader could not be detected. I tried several times before giving up.
Attempt 3
Went to 7-11, no problems whatsoever.
Attempt 4
Went back to meijer tried a different checkout lane then the last time. No problems.
Attempt 5
Meijer, one more time went to the SAME lane as the time it worked. Didn't work this time got that error again saying couldn't detect card reader.
Is anyone else's this inconsistent? I don't understand. I unlock my phone, hold it up to the machine until it says sent. Any suggestions? Why is it like this? Everyone else stories I read say it works flawlessly or it doesn't work at all.

are you using any particular case, did you update the app to the newest build?
Any errors I've encountered could be chalked up to one of two things. Either the pad was not turned on/not connected (make sure there is a green light on the pad), or the network is down\you dont have a network connection.
The network has been somewhat spotty for me over the last day or two. Today it was down for almost 2 hours. An easy way to tell if the network is down is to look at the app, select payment cards, then choose the card you are using. I use the google prepaid card, tap it and at the bottom under userid if there is a number you are connected to the network.. If the network is down or you do not have connectivity you will see something that says "can't connect to bank". You can not make a purchase if you do not see your userid, I always open the app now and check while I'm waiting in line.

Thanks! I'll give that a shot(checking the user id) that sounds like it could be helpful.
@nyplaya
no, I don't have a case and I don't know if I have the latest updated version. I haven't checked because I didn't want to update and become a victim of the secure element error. I'm not exactly sure what the cause is and didn't want to risk it. But if its safe to do so, how do I find out if I have the latest version and where would I get it?

you can do one of two things, follow the OP here:
Or you can try my little faster method: not sure if it is for the paid version only but if you download and install the APK of wallet, then use the app appmonster to backup the app, you can then simply select it in appmonster to view in the market and it bi-passes the restriction of the carriers in the normal market app it allows updating
Has anyone tried the S beam on this? I may be handing down my S III to someone where using this might be worthwhile.
I did the settings on both phone to enable it, but have not been able to get them linked to transfer files. I have tried going both ways and get a popup of touch to transfer but it disappears fast and nothing is transferred. i had read that it is supposed to first ask permission to connect, but this does not pop up on either device.
I am wondering if in typical Samsung fashion, have they made the two devices S beams incompatible (like they did with Android beam)?

to use S-beam, both devices must have S-beam and wifi enabled, which means they both must be samsung devices (S3, note II for example). you then have to go to an app that supports sharing via NFC such as a picture from your gallery. after you touch phones you have to hold it there then tap and wait until it prompts you to separate the phone; i'm guessing this is the step that's being done wrong. if you separate too early the connection will never be established.

I have encountered the prompt to separate a few times, and I do so slowly (also been using stock gallery pictures) and still no transfer.
This took me a few rries with my new Note2's. Touch the backs, touch the image to transfer, and separate when it says to. Works pretty decent. Even cooler is photoshare. The wife and I went on a safari today and took about a hundred photos between the two of us and we both have all of them on both our devices. Badass Samsung!

My roommate has an S III and I have a note II. We are able to use S beam, but like I said, we needed to hold the phones there, tap, and wait for a prompt to say it's okay to separate the phones. Initially, we failed to beam because we were separating too early. Maybe you should also make sure you both have nfc/sbeam turned on as well as wifi?

sounds like you're trying to send something from an app that he doesn't have. if i try to send my roommate a note from s-note, it will open the play store for him as it doesn't know how to negotiate the file. also note that i dont think you can send large files via nfc, i couldn't even send a picture.
Nfc transfer works with Nexus 7, fyi
Tmobile SGH-T889 using xda premium.
I do not have a SIM in my S III (It is in my note 2 now), but NFC and wifi transfer should not be affected.
I have carefully done all the settings on both devices and the few times I have gotten the "touch the image to transfer", I separated slowly when it said to and have yet to get a transfer. I was only trying to transfer one photo from the gallery. Tried it both ways.
Update. I realized I had the Perseus kernel installed so I flashed over it and now S beam works.
Update 2 - working fine with S 3 on a leaked LI8 ROM. Official JB S 3 update came out, and it is broken at S 3 end now - WTF.
Question - there is no S beam apk, so which apk is it included in?
Hi Folks,
So I'm posting in the Tmobile side since I picked up a Tmobile S4 even though I'm using it on AT&T to see if its a Tmobile thing, maybe some conflict from running on AT&T or just doesn't work at all...
I setup and have created/logged in with a Samsung account in the accounts pane and when I go online to try to find the phone I get two things. The first is the site says its not available in my region. And the second is following some details on their site about enabling it on the phone aren't working. It says add a Samsung account (done), go to settings, more, security then remote management (or remote control) then more steps but there is no remote management or remote control listed under settings.
Is this working for anyone at all?

Signing up and logging in to your tmobile, google or AT&T accounts are optional
and have nothing to do with how or if your phone will work.
You don't need to sign on to any of these three for your phone to work properly.
If your Tmobile M919 Galaxy S4 is NOT UNLOCKED it will not work on any network
except Tmobile.
It will not work with AT&T unless the phone is UNLOCKED.
Either way, the main thing I was trying to say is whatever your problem is it has
nothing to do with signing into tmoble or AT&T or gmail.
All three of those things are optional and have no effect on the phone working properly.
Awesome good to know. Now the only question is has anyone else gotten it to actually work if they have tried?

It's difficult to say if it will work or not since I have NO idea of what the problem is to start with.
All I know is that you have an Tmobile Galaxy S4 cell phone.
I don't even know if you ever tried a Tmobile sim card in it or whether the phone is unlocked and so on.
So I don't know how to be more helpful to you.

You still are very unclear in what your really want to know, I still do not even know if your phone ever worked properly for you.
I still don't even know if your phone is UNLOCKED or not and I don't even know if you have a at&t sim or a tmobile sim card.
You never mention these things in any of your posts so how can anyone confirm anything you are asking to be confirmed?
If you use your phone on the Tmobile network you will have the option of free wifi calling which does not count against cellular minutes.
On the AT&T network there will be no option at all for wifi calling.
All the other features and options on the Galaxy S4 whether it's on the AT&T network or Tmobile network will be exactly the same.
You will not see or find any differences at all except for the wifi calling which I wrote about.
Anyway I am a bit busy, so I cannot help you anymore but I am sure there will be a lot of other people
here who can help you even more than I can.
Perhaps a mind reader will give you a hand if your lucky enough to find one.
The question is clear. Has anyone had this option ever work for them?
To be honest I am not sure how the option works but it maybe GPS related if Samsung is controlling it and not the carrier.

The question has nothing to do with whether the phone is network locked or not; or what carrier's sim card is installed. It has to do with whether a specific function in an app works or not for AT&T users with a TMO device. I have an unlocked TMO version on AT&T network, I'll try what you are talking about and get back with you. I'm reverting back to my stock backup to check. I can't seem to find the particular app you're using through Samsung apps and it doesn't appear to be present on the debloated stock ROM I'm using.

My experience so far is that I also cannot access the feature. You are correct in the fact that the "Remote Control" tab doesn't exist under Settings->More->Security. It should be below "Encrypt Device" but it isn't. The website findmymobile.samsung.com says that once you activate/register your Samsung account on the device, that menu will automatically be enabled; but from my experience (and yours as well apparently) that is definitely not the case.
I did a little research, and within a few minutes I was directed to a thread here on XDA from the SIII forums talking about this particular problem. Apparently, the carriers themselves have removed the ability to use Samsung's built-in mobile location features in preference of the carrier's own mobile location apps and services.
dumb! but I figured out that lookout can do it. going on 24 hours since I picked it up and dusting off my android cobwebs still for how I used to get by a year ago. Was trying to have to install some 3rd party app that I didn't know so tried the built in stuff with no luck but with lookout pre installed and I already know it I figure that should work just fine for me. Thanks folks for the feedback and conversation!

AH, so that's what the guy was looking for, I just could not make much sense of what he was asking after reading his posts.
There are several apps at the play store which have the same or similar capabilities.
Here is a link to one of them, it's called "find my phone" it's a free app which finds phones which have been stolen or lost etc.

Yeah, but if it's supposed to be provided by the manufacturer it would stand to reason that it would be available to everyone who bought the device. Apparently though, our carriers tend to believe their own software is far superior to that of those who manufactured the device... I personally don't even use that stuff as I never turn GPS on in the first place; so in the event that my phone is stolen or lost, that kind of software won't do me any good to begin with.
I have several old NOTE 2 (Sprint) phones. No longer used. I want to use them around the house for.. OK no bull ****.. I want to install Verizon Messages + on it and log in to my wife's
Account so I can see her messages. When I install the app on the old phone
It knows I am on a phone e and tries to log in with the old number.
The same app when installed on a tablet, let's you enter the phone number
To use and login with. How can I make the app think it's on a tablet and not
A phone?
Again, the phone is no longer used, just connected on WiFi and I am willing
To root or whatever, not worried about risk of bricking it as I will just
Move on to the next one and try again. I have tried Carrier Wipe and all. Still nothing.
Thanks in advanced. (Also I was thinking maybe something with the build.prop file
But app just force closes)

Root the phone and install Xposed. Afterwards, download a module named App Settings. The module will allow you to change the dpi and resolution of the app into one a tablet uses.

Anyone getting issues with setting up numbersync following the update? I keep getting a backend error.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using Tapatalk
I work for ATT (and use a Note 5 ATT variant with number sync to an Gear s2). We have noticed some issues getting number sync functioning on our phone after the MM update. Some things to check to help ( I did get mine working after a few headaches):
- Does your phone line have the cloud message backup and sync feature on it? (It's required for number sync to work)
- Are you using a unique MyAtt account, the way number sync works, it requires a separate MyATT account using a separate primary phone number for each device trying to setup number sync.
- Are both the watch and the phone fully updated (both firmware and gear manager need to be on the latest version)
If all else fails, factory reset the watch and then attempt to connect number sync again. If that fails its gonna end up being a factory reset on the phone, but only use that as a last resort.
Unfortunately customer care is very undereducated on the numbersync feature. If your in an area that has a device support center you may catch an employee that knows their stuff - but even that's rare. Feel free to PM me if there's anything else I can to to help out.
