[Q] Adjust Brightness Toggle - Sprint LG Optimus G

Hi All,
Is there anyway to adjust the 4 brightness levels of the brightness toggle? One of my toggles is set to 0 or 1. My baby was playing with my phone and the screen went black. I thought he had screwed my phone so I ended up LNGPST back to ZVC. Didn't help. Couldn't figure it out. Finally, I tilted my phone at a certain angle and could just barely see an outline of a box. I realized the brightness was all the way down. Unfortunately, I couldn't see enough to turn it back up (even in pitch black room) but I pulled down the notification area and haphazardly was clicking on the screen until it turned up.
Anyways, I would like to adjust the minimum brightness toggle so I don't have to do that again. Any ideas?
Thanks!

Two weird things I have noticed

Screen Brightness: I have set the screen brightness to medium and and timeout to 60 seconds. I have started to notice that it will change the settings on its own. I will notice the screen is dim then look at the brightness setting and it will be set to minimum. Another thing that is driving me crazy is that it will dim the screen if you don't touch it regardless of the screen time out.
I have also noticed that sometimes when typing the screen does not follow were the words are going.
Other than these two minor pet peeves I absolutely love this phone. If it had a vag it may replace my wife.
The screen dimming is probably done by u. If u run your hand back and forth at the bottom of the notification bar it will change your brightness. Auto brightness has to be off. Its a cool feature that the original epic had.

u might want to disable the "power saving mode"... i had the same issue as u, but it seems to be fine since i disabled power saving mode
That's the thing I have my settings to auto brightness off
Edit: I will try turning the power saving mode off
Did not know that about the notification bar dimming the screen that's a cool feature.

Thanks I bet the notification bar might be it. That is awesome, I can't believe I didn't know that yet.
IF your in the internet browser that came with the phone and you turn up your brightness all the way and then you notice while your look at page all of a sudden your brightness will go back down to like 10% I found out the culprit.
the browser has a BROWSER BRIGHTNESS option in the menu. you can turn auto on or theres another slider there and it appears factory setting is all the way left or lowest.
this was pissing me off today while I was waking in the sun, I thought I had my brightness on all the way but with in 5 seconds while look here on XDA, the brightness kept going back down on its own and I do not have auto on. the thing I was doing to get it back up bright again was to do the notification swipe to the right and that would only temporary fix it.

Auto Brightness App

Is there an auto brightness app that is compatible with SGII that will allow me to set a min and max brightness level? Thanks

Try screenfilter
we need auto brightness app that switches to low brightness in low light and 100% in bright light. mine turns down in sunlight which makes it impossible to see.
heres a trick i found. turn off auto brightness. then, just barely pull down notification bar and slide right to brighten and left to dim.... this works on MOST galaxy devices... not all
What rom you running? If jugs, I know the above works for sure, but it's kind of annoying to use.
Since when you touch the top the notifier comes down, just keep holding and wiggle back and forward.

Try TOTAL SCREEN CONTROL in the market. Filters, orientation lock, controls screen time out based on position of the phone, brightness control, soft key led control etc. etc. Works perfect on my T989!

Strange backlight Issue at full brightness

I can't say I've ever seen an issue like this.
When booting up, the EVO's Sprint animation works just fine. But any time Full Brightness is requested, the back light simply quits working. Such as HBOOT, or even from within Android. Lowest, and medium brightness work. But full brightness the back light just instantly turns off. Then I can just hit it one more time to put it on lowest settings.
Not sure if it could be actual firmware, or a hardware issue. Not sure if I should replace the LCD or the backlight coil.
Thanks
Have u tried a battery pull to see if it will correct it

ICS brightness glitch

Updated to stock ICS last night. Today I came across a glitch.
On Gingerbread, whenever the screen goes off it smoothly dims off. On ICS, it now dims with 2 clicks (like it dims half way, then goes completely off). The glitch kicks in when I turn on the screen, sometimes it doesn't come full brightness (the brightness that I have it set on). When that happens, I have to go into settings and touch the brightness bar for it to go back to normal. Anyone else noticing this?
Also fyi, I have auto brightness off.

Turning screen off has been like that on ICS. Turning on, mine is fine. I have seen what you are describing when using stock browser.
You could always flash a crt off mod if it REALLY bothers yoy

Does your screen flicker?

Can someone please set your screen brightness to low and see if it flickers. I picked mine up today from BB and while on auto in a dim area it started flickering. If I turn up the brightness it will go away. I just wanted to see if mine was the only one. Thanks.
Does it do it if it's on manual brightness at lowest setting? It's not dim enough (ambient light) where I am right now for auto to put the brightness too low, but I put it to manual all the way down, and I don't think it's flickering. Will test again later auto and manual when I can find a dark room.
It started while it was on auto. I turned auto off and due to where the selection was it was still flickering but now that I have increased brightness it is not doing it. I can recreate the problem though by going dim manually.
I just tried to set mine on lowest using manual and I see no flickering. You might have a bad unit.

Yes, I would be interested to know if the same screen flicker plagues this version as the original when it first came out.
No flickering here!
none here
No flickering. Best buy is good with exchanges. Exchanged mine yesterday without a problem
