hello everybody,
i'm reading a lot about Ubuntu Touch and it got me very intrigue indeed.
as this supposed to be a full linux distribution for phones maybe if we can port it
it will help us end out bluetooth / skype problem once and for all.
yes its not android but i don't mind linux on our phone.
any thoughts?
I would like that to happen, but I don't see Ubuntu Touch coming to a two year old phone like ours.

you need somebody who writes drivers. Many drivers work on android already. Start from almost zero wont be happened sooner then just write a single bt or fix audio.

Hi guys, im new here, and i hope someone can help me....... now i have problems with my XDA IIs .... it keeps crashing and i have to soft reset the device 3-4 times a day! this i can handle., but it is always thinking about what it is doing rather than doing it..... now it is as fast and as much memory as xda 2, i just upgraded from xda 2 and found that xda 2 was a more stable Os. (i have another question involving the Os ,but will ask that in a bit, ) now my real problem is that i cannot seem to be able to send anything by bluetooth..... i pair a device but even when they are paired, it wont detect any devices it searches and stuff, even connects via Ir , but not BT... i have a couple of bluetooth devices at home that i can connect to....... and they are turned on..... but just cannot find anything to connect to.
now hopefully someone can help me with the bluetooth thing, but if not, then my next question is, i downloaded the latest update from the xda website at www.o2.co.uk , if i install over the old with the new( its still the same version, ) with a clean install, will that work, or is that the same as doing a hard reset???
next question, i downloaded the XDA IIi update......... if i install that, will it work on my XDAIIs or will it just poop up??? if i tried it, will i be able to put the existing one back????
any suggestions.????
i work at o2 in the credit control dept, but i dont have any time to call them as there office hours will prob be my shift hours, plus i have heard that you have more luck asking a local bum for solutions...
please help.....
anyone know how to send files by bluetooth from xda 2s then, cos its driving me mad. i reinstalled the os and everything but bluetooth is sorted.
please help

I am really disappointed in skype discontinuing their software for Winmo. What the hell are they thinking? Do they think that no one uses Winmo? Well I discontinued their service so thats the end of it. Anyone else with me?

ill send u the cab for skype pm your email to me
I think what they're thinking is that wm6.x is dead, beacuse it basically is. WM6 apps apparently won't run on wm7 and I can't see many new wm6 devices being released now.
So what is the point them updating the old Skype cab ? None really. And how much server space should they dedicate to a dead app running on a dead OS when I'm sure it's possible to find the cab file on alternative sites? I have Skype installed on my TP2 and it still works fine, so they've not disconnected us, they're just not updating us.
If I were you I'd place the blame more on Microsofts decision to ditch compatibility than Skype

I have not heard about WM6 programs not running on WM7. Backwards compatibility is generally standard. Of course, programs written for a stylus would not make much sense.

A friend of mine is working on Windows Phone 7. He tells me that its OS is incompatible with the former Windows Mobile 6.x
Interesting, he said, at the kernel level, Windows Mobile 6.x is based on Windows 95 while Windows Phone 7 is based on Windows Vista.
Thanks for the link, defaultdotxbe, but unfortunately I cannot get the software to work properly. I can make a call, but there is no outgoing ring on my end and I can't hear anything when the other phone answers.

Thanks, but I have already found the cab for it and its function is giving me a headache. I don't like using BT nor the speaker and audioroute didn't help either because when my ear touches the phone it triggers unwanted actions and when I turn the screen off, the phone becomes useless. Then there are 2 types of ringtones when I make a call - one of them is very loud, annoying and rings a few seconds longer even after the other line answers it which most of the time they ended up hanging up on me. The second ringtone is much softer and accurate. However, every call I make the ringtone becomes random which is very irritating. Then there is the dialing screen which does not respond well to my touchscreen. It sometimes switches to another tab when I try to hangup and then at time it freezes. Well, basically the cab is outdated and isn't working very well for me.

I believe that skype is the one that have ditched us. WM6 is still heavily used by many people, especially by us in here. Also, the new HTC HD2 in the US is supporting wm6 and that can't be ignored. WM7 isn't even official yet so why did skype cut us out a long time ago? Or maybe I don't fully understand how this microsoft OS thing works, but I'm still disappointed in skype.
I finallt got my wifi connections working by changing my security to wpa/psk so I got that sorted out.
Was wandering if a couple things worked.
1)Sound?? Any sort what so ever.
2)The light on the keyboard..Is there a way to turn it on( ) or is it just not working yet??
3) The number keys on my keyboard are just soooo out of wack..No numbers and the symols it put's out don't corrispond with the symbols on the keys themselves..Does that have something to do with the provisioning or is that not working as well??
I'm using [MJG]Rhod.2.2.BLAZN.072110 if that makes any difference.
Hoping for some answers and I appreciate it.

You should definitely read thru the posts for everything you install first most devs tell you what works and what doesn't, but...
No sound in android for touch pro 2( meaning no matter what build of android you install, no matter who developed it atm there is no external speaker sound) other than in speaker-phone I think
Atm you cannot control your keyboard lights thru android, nor the hard keys you have on your phone, so make sure that both turn off before you run android off your SD card to avoid battery drainage.
As for the number key situation I have no idea, Im running 2.2 froyo by project android and I have no problems whatsoever with my keys...
and actually i just saw your forum siggy, if you have a tmobile touch pro 2 you need to get the fix for your keyboard. Search is your friend.

You need to read a bit more bud.
1. No
2. No (Turn it on before booting android and it will stay on 100% of the time while android is on but this is the only workaround currently)
3. Read up on FAQ about your startup.txt file. There is a cmdline that controls what keyboard you are using.
I appreciate the help folks. It's a shame about the sound tho..
Anyway..Found out my problem with the buttons..I was thinking that the provisioning dealt with the network, so I installed the cab for AT&T..That one didn't work(keyboard issues) so I installed the T-Mo cab and it's all fixed. Works like a charm.lol
As for the keyboard light..Mine just works. I didn't think I turned anything on in WinMo prior to booting, and it works like it should(slide on/off)..or at least I think it does..lol
USB connection
Hello all,
Can it be possible to connect the phone via USB connection (for instance to a Mac computer)? I want to install my own Android app and I tried to connect the phone via USB and it doesn't work. Is there other way to install apps?
Best regards,
Arturo

just put the .apk in your andboot/androidapps folder, and when you use the update tool, before you choose run android, go to meu>apps and make sure you app is checked in the lil box next to it. to transfer it to your phone you could get a bluetooth dongle for your computer, transfer it that way, or upload it to a filehosting site.from your computer n then download it from your phone
Hey.
Been working with XDAndroid on my TP2 for a while. Loving it.
Got a RHOD400, FRX07, Sprint model. Worldphone.
Bluetooth works natively on WM.
It turns on and my computer pairs with my TP.
However, it never connects.
I tried connecting it to my tablet, and nada. It just pairs, but never connects. So...I don't know what I'm missing or doing wrong. I've tried waiting, but twenty minutes pass and nothing.
Any ideas? Experiences? Or does BT not work with FRX07.1. On the thread it said it does, so wondering if it's an end user issue.
Thanks.
It *kinda* works. I don't think it's been seriously tested/investigated. AFAIK some developers did get it to transfer data, and I know several users have gotten headsets/car integrations to work. But I've also heard of other users having issues with no audio passing on the headset for example. So it seems hit-or-miss at best. It was only recently enabled, and the developer that was working on it hasn't been around much since it was initially enabled... so no clean-up/refinement has been done (as of yet) on bluetooth...
emwe seems to be enabling it on his .35 tree, hopefully it will work better there.
Thanks very much for the information, makes sense that the development would be a bit behind given it's fairly new release. Didn't think about it that way.
I'm going to keep searching and tinkering, but it's good to know that it's not just my phone going ape****. Thanks.
