How to add a USB debugging fingerprint manually to your device? - Nexus 7 (2013) Q&A

Hello,
my touchdisplay is broken and it doesn't work anymore (the touch function).
Now I wanted to reset to stock image and lock the bootloader again using the nexus root toolkit.
I successfully installed the stock firmware again and then a problem encountered:
Usually I just used an OTG cable and a pc mouse to do pointer operations but there is one important which i can't do:
When I connect the device to the PC for the first time it asks me if I want to accept the fingerprint of my PC. Now when I unplug the USB cable to plugin the mouse the message disappears
Is there any way to add the fingerprint manually to my device or some other way to lock my device again without using adb?
I'm obviously not rooted cause I restored to factory image..
Thanks in advance.
Edit: can be deleted, figured it out.

[Q] broken screen but otg

Hi all,
As i said in a previous thread, my phone has broken screen and digitizer.
After weeks of tests, with a combination of otg mouse and mhl,I managed to restore the system to the inistial state.
The problem is that i can use otg and mhl at once, so before i look at the screen situation with mhl, and then i connect the otg mouse and use it blindly,
I managed to enable usb debug, but the device remains unathorized on adb.
I think that, maybe, the problem is that the phone is still in the initial configuration state or "how to use the phone " state, because if i go in the app launcher window, there is always the example on how to move an app to the home screen..
There is any way to exit from this state? To skip the tutorial...
Maybe when the tutorial will be completed, the adb will not be unathorized anymore...
Or any other idea will be fine..
Thank you

Broken screen, official kernel with usb debugging enabled by default needed

Hello, could anybody help me?, my screen got broken, it was driven by a car nothing can be seen, touch is not responsive, but my problem is that I haven't enabled adb.
I would like to install custom recovery and do full Rom backup before sending for repair, but can't do nothing without usb debugging enabled in phone
I tried do something by fastboot but everything failed.
Or maybe there is some way to connect mouse via otg and TV via mhl simultaneously?
Any help would be appreciated

Maybe you can plug mouse via otg I didn't try this but it might works I always connect via bt. But if you have something on int memory you can always plug to pc simply or make an backup with pc companion
Mouse over otg works, but its rather useless because i cant see screen, its totaly broken, and i dont know how to conect both mouse and screen at same time. It would be easy with adb working, my bootloader is locked and i dont habe TA keys backup so i dont want to unlock it.
Did you try pc companion backup?

Hardware buttons and recovery mode (broken digitizer / touchscreen)

Dear XDA Devs,
I'm having the following problem with my Sony Z1 compact. Last night I dropped my phone and the screen cracked. The screen itself works perfectly only the touchscreen does not work anymore. Unfortunately we are not able to enable usb debugging so we are required to put the phone into recovery mode and use "adb shell" to enable usb debugging (so we can backup some data before we get a new phone).
However we tried various methods to put the phone into recovery mode but we cannot get it to work. The phone runs the latest official stock rom. What are the exact stept to press buttons to get the phone in recovery mode, or do we need to custom flash a recovery partition?
Already many thanks!
p.s. the phone is currently locked with a pattern and connected to a Google account.
The most important thing is a full backup of the data (notes, picture that are not on the SD card). We have a Windows and Mac computer so we can test various options.

Official stock rom has no recovery.
Just buy, borrow or make USB-OTG cable and use ordinary computer mouse.

**You need to have usb debugging enabled. -> not able to enable usb debugging -> that's why I needed recovery mode
Thanks for the reply. I already found a solution by using a usb mouse / keyboard (Z1 compact natively supports USB OTG) to access the phone.

Glad to hear... Sorry I wasn't more specific - I just knew there was a solution out there not too hard to find.

enable USB debugging with ADB

Hi there,
I have an issue with the S4 mini of my wife. She forgot to remove it from one of her pants pocket and placed the pants in the washing machine... I let you imagine the rest. The cellphone is pretty clean now (I did worth, in the toilet , sadly, it happened).
I placed her S4 completely disassembled in rice and a silica gel. everything is dry. I was able to turn it on however the screen did not turn on. I recovered several data but I'm not able to retrieve the sms as the phone is not rooted.
luckly, I have also a S4 mini. I managed to change the screen and it turned on !! however (tsss) the touchscreen doesn't work.
My S4 is from 2013 and hers is from 2014. something might have changed.
so as I mentioned above, I'm trying to retrieve the sms but I need to turn on the USB debugging to be able to use any program.
so what I did is to connect her S4 with ADB [normal boot, recovery, downloading mode] but can't have a connection with ADB:
adb devices
List of devices attached
adb server version (32) doesn't match this client (36); killing...
error: unknown host service
error: could not install *smartsocket* listener: cannot bind to 127.0.0.1:5037: Une seule utilisation de chaque adresse de socket (protocole/adresse could not read ok from ADB Server
réseau/port) est habituellement autorisée. (10048)
* failed to start daemon *
error: cannot connect to daemon
Do you have any idea why I can't get this connection with ADB?
and how to enable the USB debugging with a touchscreen not working ? this will enable me to use several program to retrieve the sms.
many thanks !!
unfortunately I can't get any info from \data\ as the phone is not rooted.
I'm trying to connect a mouse with a otg adapter but I can't get anything from it.
do you have any idea on how to either activate the "usb debugging mode" or to get controle of the cellphone with a mouse?
thanks
and I was able to make adb recognize the phone. that's a small step
So what I found on how to backup sms:
- sms are stored in \data\, so to have access to this partition I need to be rooted. => rooted now will simply make all data disappear which I don't want. => I'm correct, right?
- using any app to backup will need to have the USB debugging active. However I can't do anaything on the screen as it doesn't work. => to activate it with adb, I need to be rooted....
- OTG, I try to connect a mouse (otg linked to the mouse with/without power supply) it doesn't work
is it possible to simply make a clone of my phone to the computer? or to my S4 mini?
my last solution would be to buy a screen but it's 60€ just ot backup the data and as I noticed, I have to be sure the screen is compatible with the motherboard of the cellphone which is not easy...
thanks !!

Help me recover OP3 data

Hi all!
I recently dropped my OP3 and now i have a black screen and touch screen doesn't work. The phone is still on and operating (i tried calling it from another phone and it works). I want to recover data but apparently i have usb debug off and i tried connecting a keyboard with an OTG but apparently i had to activate OTG from phone, otherwise it doesn't recognizes it.
Do you know any method to recover data?
My last chances are repairing the screen myself to avoid the assistence erase all the data, or transfer my motherboard to another OP3, but do you know any other method before these two above?
Thank you

Most likely the connector has become loose (since you have not said anything about the screen being broken) and you can try to reconnect it by yourself.
Another alternative is to see if adb is working and your PC is authorised. If so, you can use the 'adb pull /sdcard' command to copy your data to the PC.
Alternately, search with Google since I remember reading about a method to mirror your screen and then using the mouse to enable whatever you want.

I'll check the connector but the screen has some cracks (tho i've seen screens in worse condition then mine work).
And i can't use the mouse because OTG is not on, on other phones you don't need to give permission to use OTG but on mine you have to,

What about adb? That is the easiest.
I am not talking about connecting the mouse to the phone through OTG. I am talking about using the PC's mouse to manipulate the cursor to the point where you want it on your PC's screen where your mobile screen is mirrored.

I think you are referring to Vysor, but i can't use it with debugg off again. Edit: I see that there are other apps like that but for most of them you have to install them on the phone, i'll search a bit more tho.
As for ADB i tried before with another phone with debug off and adb doesn't see the phone, i'll try with my broken phone but i don't think it will be different.

Just now, I switched off USB debugging in my OP3 and connected it to the Laptop. While the command 'adb devices' does not find the phone, as soon as it is connected, it shows up as a storage device and I can open it and copy data. I think that for this to work, you should have enabled MTP option for file transfer.
Check this on your phone.
EDIT: Check THIS as there seems to be a way though I am not sure that it works on current Android versions since the file locations may be different. Read till the end.
My phone goes in charging mode when connected to pc, and pc doesn't see it.
Did you do that through recovery mode?

No. Tried it while booted.
Now I tried on recovery mode. Still I get it as a storage device and I can copy data.
So most probably your phone is stuck on charging and not on MTP.

I believe so, every time I connected it to pc i had to switch manually from charging to recovery.
I guess my best solution is to buy a screen replacement and repair it myself

Have you tried fastboot flash twrp recovery and then fastboot reboot to recovery
You can try usb c to hdmi adapter , connect to a monitor or tv.
I am not sure but worth trying!!!

From what i can remember, the recovery mode, accessible from the fastboot menu, has a usb access mode.
If worst comes to worst though, i personally have replaced the screen on my OP3, and its not as difficult as it seems or is made out to be. Took me max 4 hrs.
