wifi will work you just have to flash to correct wifi driver if just keeps saying scanning
whites kernel and hells fusion #50 kernel flash whites wifi driver
any other stock based kernel flash stock wifi driver
with link to sd create the 2nd partition in cwm and you shouldnt have any problems trying to mount it - note backup sd card contents first as it will format your sd card

the best would be ext4, as it is the most recent and allows faster data transfers but the downside of it is that some roms may not support it meanwhile ext2 is more of the universal type; widely used format.
ps: you can play safe by choosing ext3 instead
i just read other forums thats ext 4 is much better...but i dont remeber the forum link....
EXT2 is old
EXT4 may not work on some ROMs but blazing speed
EXT3 safe and fast.
PS. Don't risk repartitioning your SD with EXT4 just because it is the fastest. Choose to EXT3.

hehe . ..
ext3 will be sufficient for now.
ext4 requires kernel support... still then if you want that try merruk's kernel, it supports ext4

Tried merruk's kernel before, didn't work for me. Any idea how to make it work? I already have 1 custom bin count, don't wanna add another 1 for nothing.

backup ur data
Use cwm » advanced» partition sdcard....
Make one ext3 partition less than 512mb & the rest fat32
Ext3 will be used as the extended internal memory for linking apps
fat32 will be mounted as your sdcard
Now reboot
Open link2sd, it will ask you for mount script » select ext3
Select settings » auto link...
now all set
Written this in brief..
For kernel flash use mai77 method
No bin count as it'll flash using cwm

What do you mean by "doesnt work"? Are you not getting the option to mount the 2nd partition in Link2SD?

It is an indication that you flashed a firmware which is non-stock .. in some samsung service centres warranty will not be considered if you have bin count..In only few countries though as no one cares to check them and they either dont have the knowledge to check them..all they know is "KIES" xD
I have a bin counter of 62 ..nothing happens..Just flash them freely

Hmm...which ROM are you using?
You must use a custom ROM having a2sd darktremor enabled to enable a2sd..
Im not sure about L2SD..But I can guide you...Did you get a "Mount 2nd Partition" message when you first run L2SD? Otherwise Click Left touch button-> Click More -> Click the "Recreate mount Scripts" On Link2SD and restart your device..
Go to any installed user application and on bottom it shows " Create Link" ..Press that and if it continues to show linking options then you have L2SD perfectly working..

For this to work you need to have a secondary partition of ext3/ext2 ..ext3 is preferred..Use CWM to repartition the SD card..
Creed and repencis supports both a2SD and L2SD ..chobits supports L2SD..
You can try this guide by CarlDeanCatabay which describes the L2SD process:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1614700
I prefer L2SD over A2SD as L2SD has more advanced options..

[Q] how to WORK/enable/use ext4 in MERRUK kernel

anyone help is appreciated,, thnx in advance,,
kawe42 said:
Preparation
(1) Backup all apps with Titanium Backup
(2) Backup sdcard to the pc
(3) Fullwipe
(4) Flash stock rom to get rid of all possible points of failure
(5) copy Madteam cwm to sdcard
(6) start stock recovery -> start cwm via update.zip
(7) partition sdcard with cwm -> ends up with sdcard fat32 partition and 1024MB ext3 partition (as I chose)
(8) copy sdcard backup from pc to fat32 partition, including merruks 2.0 kernel
(9) flash merruk 2.0 via cwm
Setup
(10) boot up phone, initial setup, install link2d
(11) choose link2sd mount script ext3
(12) after reboot there is a link2sd script in /etc/init.d
(13) modify script: add 2 lines at the end of the script:
rm -r /sd-ext
ln -s /data/sdext2 /sd-ext
this links link2sd standart path /data/sdext2 to /sd-ext
(14) Install and restore all apps with Titanium Backup
(15) use link2sd to move apps to second partition -> "Create Link"
(16) check /sd-ext with root file explorer to see if apps get moved correctly

Its not for the sd card.. Your mentioning ext2/3 for the 2nd partition of sd card.. Flashing ext4.zip wipes data and cache and converts it to ext4 from rfs.. It increases performance but a noticeable little battery drain..

Its simple. After having your desired custom ROM flashed you can apply merruk kernel with ext4.
1) Flash the merruk kernel using kernel updater or using odin(refer merruk topic)
2) Flash ext4 . It wipes the data and cache.
3) You need to flash your custom rom/stock ROM now as youll get boot loops
4) If you still encounter bootloops after flashing stock/custom ROM, flash the merruk kernel again.
5) Reboot and check the kernel version in settings->About phone and make sure its merruk 2.0
6) Thats it. Profit

1. Maybe your card doesn't support ext3 or
2. Format the whole card after you back up everything on it. Then do the partion and then move everything back to the SD card
3. Update ext1 to ext2
4. Wipe using superwipe or whatever method you use, flash the rom, same session flash your kernal underworld number 8 for your sense rom, then same session flash your apps2sd script I use cronmod INT2EXT4+ it moves your partion to your internal memory and I have 900mb on my internal memory 300 apps installed and 400mb of internal memory left and because its internal my phone is fast as hell with no lag.. then reboot and take a look around to see if the script stuck.. if so then get rid of armon installer use smelkous recovery you can go back into it and update your partion without having to format your SD card again.. so then you would update to ext3 but you may have to uninstall your app2sd script and then reflash it once you get your ext4 up and running.. I will link cronmod so you can read the op he also has a app2sd script as well

[Q] SD EXT partition.. Link2SD or App2Ext.. problems with mounting.

I rooted my desire 816 [still running the stock rom] and I wanted to try link2sd so I partitioned my SD card and created an ext4 primary partition.. opened link2sd app, installed mount scripts and restarted the phone but the ext partition is still unmounted.. tried ext2 but ended up with the same result!
searched a lot but found so many confusing topics that got me more confused!
what should I do to get the ext partition to be mounted on boot?!
also is app2ext better than link2sd? if so, then how to install it too?
thank you guys in advance..

Thanks! but I think the zip file is for enabling SD card write permissions only..
my problem is that the EXT partition I created doesn't mount on boot and I don't know how to enable that since I'm on stock rom not a custom one..
I am having the same problem. I even flashed that zip but It didn't help.
I had read somewhere that the Exp partition size should be 20% of the microSD card size at most. is it relevant here?
I've also made a Linux swap. the order of my partitions is :
1. fat 32 :15 GB primary, Active
2. Ext4 :now 5 GB primary (It would fail mount with Ext3)
3. Linux Swap : 1.5 GB

that zip is for re-enabling writing permissions on SD card which is disabled in KitKat by default.
------
you don't need that much for the ext partition.. it should be no more than 20% of the SD card size.
I guess you made the ext this size because of games, right? you should use foldermount instead.. It's AWESOME!!
