I had the same problem in the past! I deleted my sd ext partition with minitool partition wizard after that I make a new sd ext partition and I switched to px recovery from Phiexz and the problem was fixed.

Ok i will try
Tnx
Ok so after formatting my sdcard,re-flashing a stock rom with odin, formatting to ext4 and installed CWM 5.0.2.7 ext4&rfs by phiexz the error was gone but after upgrading to CWM 5.0.2.8 by MMB Team the problem is still there
Any ideas
try to use px recovery 0.3.6 beta or cwm 5.0.2.6 / 5.0.2.7
these are the most stable recoverys i used
- Save everything you care from sdcard
- Delete all the partitions
- Re-create partition table (msdos)
- Create a first partition (fat32, primary, will be seen as sdcard)
- Create a second partition (ext4, primary, will be seen as sd-ext)
Questions?

Basically, every time I go to clockwork recovery and try to wipe data and cache, I get this error.
cant mount block /dev/block/mmcblk0
I have reformatted many times my sd, even with rom manager but with no luck.
Still get the same error.
From what I understand, if I flash a rom that supports aps2sd+ then I cant install any apps from market because it cannot mount my sd card.
You probably have an ext2 partition which clockwork can't handle. I had to convert mine to ext3 to be able to format it in recovery. Apps were still being saved there, though.

I know the Mason kernel supports ext. 4. Read the OP for the ROM you're using and make sure ext. 4 is supported.

Scratch what I said above. I forgot Energy is a Sense ROM, so you'll need a Sense ROM that supports ext. 4, assuming it's supported by the ROM.

1. Maybe your card doesn't support ext3 or
2. Format the whole card after you back up everything on it. Then do the partion and then move everything back to the SD card
3. Update ext1 to ext2
4. Wipe using superwipe or whatever method you use, flash the rom, same session flash your kernal underworld number 8 for your sense rom, then same session flash your apps2sd script I use cronmod INT2EXT4+ it moves your partion to your internal memory and I have 900mb on my internal memory 300 apps installed and 400mb of internal memory left and because its internal my phone is fast as hell with no lag.. then reboot and take a look around to see if the script stuck.. if so then get rid of armon installer use smelkous recovery you can go back into it and update your partion without having to format your SD card again.. so then you would update to ext3 but you may have to uninstall your app2sd script and then reflash it once you get your ext4 up and running.. I will link cronmod so you can read the op he also has a app2sd script as well

S2E here, too - how did you partition the card - CWM? (I'd guess usually that shouldn't lead into problems...)
Did you also mount the partition manually in CWM? (I'm pretty sure that I didn't - but that's still an open question / if I have to / should) - what CWM version?

Yep,obviously,I used CWM 5.0.2.0 for the partition of the card.
I am using CWM 5.0.2.0 for the Nandroid backup and I have also tried via ROM manager to no avail.
SD-Ext is already mounted
Hbu?Have you achieved the Nandroid backup(including ext) without any problem ?What CWM did you use ?
I just don't understand why CWM can't back it up when it was created by itslef.
Does CWM 5.0.2.0 supports ext3/4 ?
I am pretty sure I created ext3 partiton using it and now when I mount my SD card via ADB,it shows the file system as ext2

Then surely it looks some issue with your SD-ext,I would recommend you to repartition using minitool partition wizard,For now you could use app extractor app to restore your apps/data from nandroid.
you can try cwm 5.0.2.8 (the latest available) this is the link of the tread

I know that the recovery have some problems creating / formatting partitions ext (eg creates ext4 but reformat in ext3 when you wipe), then I suggest GParted utility on the ubuntu live cd to partition the microsd.

BTW,I have already backed up my applications using TB and the app data should be in internal memory as it was not moved to ext.
I just want to have the recovery fixed to backup.
You can't just copy the whole SD card on the PC as it can't read the sdext# directory.
Most of the people recommend CWM for the partiton of the card and they didn't have any problem with that.Which recovery did you use ?
Doh! I am clueless
tb save the app to a folder on fat32 (microsd) You must backup this partition before reformatting the entire micro sd or use gparted to erase/formatting only the ext partition

I prefer FASTBOOT
I had been using cwm 5.0.2.8 for a long time with no issues while backing up and restoring nandroid including sd-ext.
But due to mirroring bug in temporary 2.5.0.7 with 5.0.2.8,i downgraded to v5.0.2.0.
From then I started to have problems in restoring nandroids made previously with v5.0.2.8.I did everything again(partitioning, backup and restore) with 5.0.2.0,and it all started to work as before again.
So,I jumped to a conclusion that if you create sd-ext with specific cwm version then you should use the same version to backup or restore nandroids.
I know this sounds silly but proved to be good in my case.I might be wrong though.

I'm using 4.0.1.4 - by accident because of that wrong PC49IMG file in the index thread and I'm really too lazy to update.
Re. your problems: There are a few reports that CWM (all versions) sometimes fails with wiping/formatting (or does it a bit dirty) so I'd guess this very likely could also happen with partitioning (if I'm correct the partitions will be wiped and formatted also, then). I really would just repartition again - and afterwards I'd do a complete wipe/format of the sd-ext - just to make sure...
Keep in mind that a sdcard is not a hard drive...
Hello, first calm down, you have just installed a recovery
second probably the trouble (as you have already said) is the card, the formatting you? if you do not want to lose the data on your ext partition with gparted can copy them like a fat partition
even if given the situation I suggest you start from scratch. deep Formatting
partition with ubuntu live cd and flash the rom (I understand that will not boot up right? The ext partition is recognized as the first boot). There is a possibility that the micro sd does not work well anyway good luck I hope I can help you

Mini tool partition wizard HE.
I've found the info, that both partitions have to be set as "primary".
I had FAT 32 as primary, and ext3 as logical, but it didn't work either.
I will try to set ext4 instead of ext3, maybe that would work. I'll let you know in the evening CET.

i used 4ext recovery.... but still same problem!
can u suggest something different or step by step?
i used both ext4 n ext3.... but didnt helped!
What he means is, use the recovery named 4EXTRecovery. Search for the recovery image here in xda or google it, then flash it via fastboot OR download the 4EXTRecovery Updater from here if your current rom is rooted. (you can also use the updater to just download the recovery image in case your current rom ist not rooted). Then boot into recovery and partition your sd, first partition fat32, second 4ext.
BTW primary in this context doesn't mean first partition, but means that the partition type is primary (as opposed to logical).
